- Hi Ryan:
- Here is our projects for at least the next week in addition to other issues which come up.
- 1. We need to start looking at Laptop encryption for the current software deployment and future deployments
- a. The type of encryption we need to do: The question of full blow encryption of the system or partition level
- 1. WE will need to research this: give evaluations; encryption standards
- 2. Download a copy of True Crypt: Beta test on one of our laptops
- b. Research Windows 7 Enterprise deployment regarding True Crypt
- 1. There are known issue regarding deployment
- 2. if necessary we will find suitable alternatives or stop gap tools.
- 3. Will begin to create an encryption strategy
- (note: we will develop this through an IS Whitepaper. I will show you how to do this.)
- 2. Research Ipad (maybe the other pads like the Nook and Kindle) integretion into academic networks
- a. Need information on how they are being integrated currently: A lot of background information is necessary.
- b. Understand and learn the security around Ipad integration: This will be interesting because it truthfully is a touching into mixed mode networking(difficult at times.) and soe cases never fully develops. This was the case in the past.
- c. We need to review current security and network standards regarding integration with a look at Providence Health and Services: regarding open and closed wireless deployment. plus, lets find some whitepapers on other institutions incorporating the 'pads'
- 3. Lets look at these three industrial WAPs: do a review
- a. Aruba
- b.Ruckus c. Blue Socket
- (A whitepaper will be created.)
- Ryan, this takes details and precision. What we are doing is preparing the University to transition into stronger network and teaching environment.
- Nick
