  1. *Situation and Verdict*
  2.
  3. Administration has reviewed roleplay logs, and spoken oocly with relevant parties, pertaining to whether or not the possibility of killing the character Aleksanra Vanguard is available to members of the Fury.
  4.
  5. Our conclusion is that the criteria to validate such a killing has been satisfied. While we will not advocate for one IC path forward over another, given the material relevant to this specific case, we can conclude that we would not invalidate such a killing.
  6.
  7. *IC Basis for Conclusion*
  8.
  9. The Fury, Gruum specifically, was informed by Aleksanra that the Tribunal is aware of the progenitor of the Werewolf curse in Orius. Gruum was told that the survival of Aleksanra outweighs that of the tribe, and it is not implausible that he would be suspicious of her. We cannot outright say that the suspicions levied by the Fury, in particular Gruum, are implausible. When such suspicions were levied, and an attempt to ascertain the truth was forthcoming, Aleksanra proceeded to contradict herself several times, refuse to drink a poison that would allow for the truth to be spoken, and to essentially admit that the accusations were true. We cannot say with any level of certainty if IC suspicions were compounded by OOC knowledge, nor can we say with any evidence that the roleplay would have progressed any differently without such knowledge.
  10.
  11. -Evidence of what could be construed as reasonable basis for suspicions, conclusions, etc:
  12.
  13. 1. What could potentially be viewed as a contradiction.
  14.
  15. Excerpt from post at 21:15: “I told you that they knew, yes. I did so that you would be cautious and I knew then how close they were to actually hunting our kind. You are right, I refused to drink because I feel that what I did has protected the Fury in the end and yet while you may not see it, it worked. You grew more aware. Punish me if you will but I do this so that we will conquer.”
  16.
  17. Excerpt from post at 21:56: "I refused because it is not in my nature to drink or eat anything that I have not prepared myself. I promise to you that the truth is what I speak. "
  18.
  19. 2. What could potentially be viewed as a confession.
  20.
  21. Excerpt from post at 20:42: “"You have no proof of such thing happening, Gruum. Do not use my closeness to the Tribunal as aiding them in any manner. I endangered no one. I protected them and found that Victor and his dogs were closer than you perhaps thought"
  22.
  23. The excerpt from the post above compared to the ones below
  24.
  25. Excerpt from post at 21:15: “"I did what was needed to earn the trust of the Tribunal to place myself on the council of the Chancellor. I have a meeting with him tomorrow regarding my station in Murbrook. This opportunity was presented to the Tribunal because they have sway over what happens in Murbrook. In the eyes of the Tribunal, I am an asset in which I would not let anyone truly get hurt, Gruum. I told you that they knew, yes.”
  26.
  27. Excerpt from post at 21:56: “"Why are you doing this? " The woman's eyes searching the orc's gaze "I do this for you. I do this so that you may worship freely just as I wish to. I want to hunt without interruption. I want to see the downfall of the Tribunal just as you do but sacrifices must be made"
  28.
  29. *ICly Proposed Alternative to Death*
  30.
  31. [21:56] Aleksanra Vanguard (blasphemysangel): drawn, she held up the hand towards Gruum. "Do not kill me. Please. I offer an alternative to death. A promise, a deal if you will. If any Fury comes to harm in the future because of my actions in attempt to gain you Murbrook, you can kill me then. " Stepping even closer to Gruum as if to avoid Demodocus. "I swear to you. You know me, Gruum. You know that my deals, my contracts are binding. I do not stray from them. I honor them. I value my life, I do not want to lose it. " Aleksanra paused and took in a quick, breath "This .. is me swearing to you, begging you to spare my life so that I can serve my master and you. This is the truth and if you wish for me to drink the potion under the condition that I am not killed, I will."
  32.
  33. In the above alternative, the proposal appears to be simply to allow Aleksanra to continue as she has been, but only to kill her if actual harm comes to the Fury because of her actions. It is plausible that this is not a suitable compromise for the Fury.
  34.
  35. *OOC requirements for Character Death*
  36.
  37. The below are the general requirements for character death, if most of these are satisfied then in most cases a death will be validated.
  38.
  39. -Did they attack me first?
  40. No physical attack occurred.
  41.
  42. -Did I give them a chance to flee?
  43. Aleksanra attempted to flee, but the roll failed.
  44.
  45. -Did I offer them a reasonable alternative to violence/death (Demanding an item as if using Gimme That! is reasonable, 'let me rape your family' or 'give me everything you have' is not reasonable)
  46. Yes, the option of drinking a poison to prove innocence was offered.
  47.
  48. -Did they provoke me ~after~ I warned I would be happy to kill them?
  49. Debatable, the vocal exchange that occurred after death was clearly on the table could reasonably be read as provocation or not.
  50.
  51. -Did they deliberately go out of their way to damage to my character?
  52. Yes, the presumed betrayal was intentional.
  53.
  54. -Are there extenuating circumstances by which they have viciously wronged my character or my character's close allies?
  55. Yes, the outing of the progenitor of the werewolf curse can be construed as a vicious wrong.
