- A couple of years back, I worked at an organization where I had to develop websites. The work was tedious, but every week I would tell myself to get the work done and get the paycheque that is given every other week. Along with the paycheque, I would be given a bonus for every website I finished. The bonus consisted of a multiplier to my pay and would increase every time I completed the development of a website.
- In this example, a form of positive reinforcement would be the paycheque because money was added to reinforce my behaviour so I would show up and finish my work on time. The reinforcement schedule for my pay was fixed/interval since I would receive the paycheque every other week regardless of the number of websites I would complete during that time period. On the other hand, the bonus followed a fixed/ratio schedule since the multiplier would only increase when I would finish a website regardless of the time it took.
