  78. NOTE: TEAM ECLiPSE, TEAM PHX is sorry about the
  79. misunderstanding that has happened. Although the team is
  80. accused of stealing, we can assure you we had no part in such a
  81. gay scene move which disgraces our name. BUT, what happened
  82. was a trial member gave a prewh0re / packer a serial number for
  83. Actual Title Buttons, but PHX's leader quickly noticed that this
  84. program CANNOT be legitly fished, but had to have been
  85. keygenned. The prewh0re had already released as REGGED due
  86. to crypto-protections and quickly, we responded promptly by nuke
  87. requesting it on many dupes and sites. Our apologies have been
  88. sent to ECLiPSE's keygenner, [phoenix], and we apologize to the
  89. leader(s) of ECLiPSE. Both members have been kicked and
  90. consequences have been brought about. Thank You
  91. /TEAM PHOENiX
  92.
  93. TEAM PHX apologizes for such a scene-low move, but we must
  94. explain what really happened.
  95.
  96. All Seeing Eye is the leading FPS community game scanner, it looks
  97. for games and then reports to you. It is filled with many features that
  98. can be useful to any FPS player!
  99.
  100. ASE has been around for 15 months now. In that time the program
  101. has been installed on over 2.5 million computers, we are currently
  102. getting ~8000 new installs every day. The scanners are serving 200
  103. 000 - 300 000 unique users daily, that's 2-3 million connections per
  104. day. Since there are only about 600 000 - 700 000 unique names
  105. used on the servers daily, that means that about 40% of the FPS
  106. community already uses ASE. :)

  259. ÛÛ CloneCD is a powerful CD-copying program that writes in ÛÛ
  260. ÛÛ raw mode, which gives it total control over the data being ÛÛ
  261. ÛÛ written. Therefore, CloneCD can produce real one-to-one ÛÛ
  262. ÛÛ copies of your CDs. CloneCD requires a CD writer that can ÛÛ
  263. ÛÛ write in raw mode; it also requires a CD reader that ÛÛ
  264. ÛÛ supports certain specific commands. With the correct ÛÛ
  265. ÛÛ equipment, CloneCD can make working copies of nearly any ÛÛ
  266. ÛÛ CD, regardless of whether it is copy-protected. ÛÛ
  267. ÛÛ ÛÛ
  268. ÛÛ Version 4.0 features a revamped copy kernel: CloneCD 4 now ÛÛ
  269. ÛÛ copies more; a new user interface; new technical features, ÛÛ
  270. ÛÛ such as "Automatic fast error skip; and bug fixes. ÛÛ
  271. Û² ÛÛ
  272. ²² *NOTE* : PH released this version of CloneCD, their release ²Û
  273. ²² was stolen (they admit it in a letter); some of you might ²²
  274. ²Û have seen CloneCD.v.4.2.0.2.WinAll.Multi.WHF (1214), well ²²
  275. ÛÛ this one was of course stolen too, i found the serial that Û²

  376. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  377. // INSTALLING
  378. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  379.
  380. Power-Grab should be installed in it's own subdirectory.
  381.
  382. There is currently no install program. Simply extract the contents of this
  383. zip file to a new program directory for Power-Grab. This directory will
  384. hold the program and header data (downloads can be configured to be saved
  385. elsewhere.)
  386.
  387. After you've found a place for it, you can create a shortcut to the program
  388. by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting "New" then "Shortcut" and
  389. then pointing to POWRGRAB.EXE in the directory you extracted the program to.
  390.
  391. QUICK RUN-TIME WALKTHROUGH:
  392.
  393. - The first time you run Power-Grab, it will open up the program's setup.
  394.
  395. - The first thing you do is configure your news server and (possibly)
  396. login info. It's a good idea to click the TEST button to verify the
  397. server. If you are connecting to your own ISP's news server, then you
  398. will most likely NOT need to login/authenticate yourself. Authentication
  399. is usually used with commercial news servers you have signed up for.
  400.
  401. TIP: Most servers let you log in multiple times, but usually set a limit.
  402. Select the number of simultaneous connections you wish to use and click
  403. the Test button to verify they will all work.
  404.
  405. - Next, select "Server Groups..." from the Groups menu. This will let you
  406. download the list of newsgroups that your news server carries. Select
  407. those that you are interested in and add them to Power-Grab's "Newsgroup"
  408. list by clicking the "Add" button. Each time you press the Add button,
  409. you will be prompted for a default directory to save those newsgroups'
  410. downloads to.
  411.
  412. - Next, hit the "Play" button to turn on processing. This enables the
  413. processing of any items in the download queue (either file downloads or
  414. newsgroup header scanning.)
  415.
  416. - Next, right-click on the "Newsgroup" list window and select "Scan All".
  417. This will queue a header scan task for each newsgroup.
  418.
  419. - To "open" a group and see what files are there, double click the newsgroup
  420. name in the "Newsgroup" window. A list of all the binaries found in
  421. that group will appear in the main windows' list (header view).
  422.
  423. - Finally, select 1 or more files in the header view, right click and select
  424. "Get And Decode". Power-Grab will ask you to confirm the download and
  425. where it will place the files.
  426.
  427. - Kick back and chill! If you get bored, you can minimize the power-grab
  428. window. Then try maximizing it. Now minimize it again. Now Maximize.
  429. Minimize.. Maximize.. Wow, this is lots of fun. Now turn your monitor off.
  430. Now turn it back on.. Play with the contrast controls...
  431.
  432. Do people really read README files? Probably not, but you never know.
  433.
  434. NOTE: You'll notice that there is a "play" button and two "stop" buttons.
  435. The "Stop (Now)" button is the solid-colored stop button. This will stop
  436. all downloads immediately. The other stop button (Stop Gracefully) will
  437. let the files currently being downloaded finish. If you stop immediately,
  438. the files currently downloading will be truncated in size- back to the
  439. size it was when the last full article was downloaded. So if you are
  440. downloading a binary that is split across 100 articles, and you stop in
  441. the middle of the 100th article, Power-Grab will resume the download
  442. starting with the 100th article; it won't restart from the beginning.
  443. The only exception to this is if you delete the partially completed file
  444. before you restart- then Power-Grab will know that it must start over again.
  445.
  446. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  447. // What's New (v2.4)
  448.
  449. o Transmission Graph now resizes to the full width of the application window
  450. o Find & History dialogs are now modeless and remember they last size/position.
  451. o Find & History dialogs now show grid lines and have full-row selection
  452. o Queue window 'Size' column is now updated again for SCAN tasks
  453. o Scan tasks that are performing a LISTGROUP now honor the Stop button
  454. o History Dialog: Added a "Refresh" button
  455. o Changed Newsgroup window internal structure; you'll get a notice when you
  456. run this version the first time.
  457. o Newsgroup List: You can now sort on Date/Time of last scan
  458. o Fixed Tab Order on "Get And Decode" dialog; ALT-D now correctly jumps to
  459. the Download directory.
  460. o "Error Decoding Line, Len=61: xxxx" error will now auto-retry on its own.
  461.
  462.
  463. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  464. // What's New (v2.3)
  465.
  466. o Rewrote all queue progress indicators
  467. o Enhanced Newsgroup Scanning (added LISTGROUP command, list saved
  468. to new .ID file in \DATA directory, used to accurately determine
  469. life values and expired articles)
  470. o Added handler for "TaskbarCreated" message; now Power-Grab will
  471. recreate the systray icon after explorer.exe crashes and restarts
  472. o Made a "Tools" submenu to Newsgroup context (right-click) menu;
  473. moved some less commonly used items there
  474. o Added "Copy Newsgroup Names To Clipboard" option to
  475. Newsgroup/Tools context menu & main "Groups" menu
  476. o Fixed Affinity Bug; version 2.2 would always use the default and
  477. ignore settings in the download dialog.
  478. o Fixed Focus misbehaving; after deleteing from queue window, focus
  479. returns to queue window
  480. o Enhanced "Add Newsgroup(s)" dialog (not the server list dialog).
  481. This dialog now allows you to enter more than one newsgroup name.
  482. The idea now, is that if you have two copies of Power-Grab, and you
  483. want to copy your favorite newsgroup list from one copy to another,
  484. you can do it. To do this, open the copy of PG you want to copy the
  485. names from, select the newsgroups, right-click and select "Copy
  486. Newsgroup Name(s)" from the Tools submenu. Then, go to your other
  487. copy of Power-Grab, and select the "Add Newsgroup(s)" option. Paste
  488. (Ctrl-V) the newsgroup list, select the default download directory,
  489. and click OK.
  490.
  491.
  492. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  493. // What's New (v2.2)
  494.
  495. o Servers tab in setup now visible when Power-Grab in "Run" mode.
  496. Server name/port disabled if running.
  497. o Changed default affinity setting: Now has seperate download and
  498. scan affinities
  499. o Added default affinity settings for downloads/scans to server
  500. setup tab
  501. o Added "Peak Download Speed" statistic to Stats tab; keeps track of
  502. max download speed ever.
  503. o Added "Scan All Groups" command verification dialog + option to
  504. not show dialog again
  505. o Added setup option "Auto-Enable "Play" mode on startup?"; if
  506. checked, Power-Grab will auto-click the play button on startup
  507. o Fixed File Menu Hot-Key text for "Get And Decode" to CTRL-G (said
  508. CTRL-D but it's CTRL-G)
  509. o Changed Queue "Delete" function to a submenu with more options
  510. (Selected, In Error, In Queue, On Hold, All)
  511. o Added "Open Save-To Directory" option to Queue Window (if multiple
  512. folders found for selected tasks, a verification box will appear)
  513. o Added forced trimming of user-entered directory names; leading or
  514. trailing spaces eventually lead to directories that can't easily be
  515. deleted (Windows Explorer will return an error saying "Error Reading
  516. From Disk", or similar.)
  517. o Changed Find & Filter window edit boxes into "history" combo
  518. boxes, allowing you to easily repeat recent filters/finds without
  519. typing them back in.
  520. o Added Reset button to "Stats" property page in Setup
  521. o Fixed a periodical retry bug that could sometimes cause a crash
  522. o Added handler for Power-Grab SysTray handler; if not minimized,

  527.
  528. FIXES:
  529.
  530. o Fixed "Download" button in FIND window; the background find function was
  531. returning the wrong file offset information on matched items (was always
  532. returning the item AFTER the matching item.) This has been fixed.
  533.
  534. CHANGES:
  535.
  536. o Changed Max Speed Per Channel limits to 999k/sec max (was 99k/sec max)

  542.
  543. o Fixed Server Port setting bug (would always change port back to 119)
  544.
  545. ENHANCEMENTS:
  546.
  547. o Added "Download" button to Find window.
  548. o Added "Auto Suggest" toggle button to Get & Decode download dialog

  553. // What's New (v2.1 Release 5)
  554.
  555. FIXES:
  556.
  557. o Fixed FIND window bug which would crash Power-Grab after 1,000 matches
  558. o Changed Hotkey for "View Graph Bar" to CTRL-R, was conflicting with the
  559. "Get And Decode" Hotkey (CTRL-G).
  560.
  561. ENHANCEMENTS:
  562.
  563. o Added TAB key handling to switch focus between the headers, newsgroups
  564. and download queue windows/views.
  565.
  566. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  567. // What's New (v2.1 Release 4)
  568.
  569. ENHANCEMENTS/CHANGES:
  570.
  571. o Added setup option for Auto Suggesting Supplimental Directory. When this
  572. feature was added to v2.1 R3 it was always enabled; now you can turn it off.
  573.
  574. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  575. // What's New (v2.1 Release 3)
  576.
  577. FIXES:
  578.
  579. o Fixed "Set Save-To Directory" bug introduced in v2.1; it REALLY works now!
  580.
  581. ENHANCEMENTS:
  582.
  583. o Added Auto Directory-Name guessing to download dialog. If you select
  584. a bunch of files to download, it will build a directory name for you
  585. by using the "largest common substring" of the headers selected.
  586.
  587. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  588. // What's New (v2.1 Release 2)
  589.
  590. Version 2.1 introduced a little bug in the "Set Save-To Directory" which
  591. made that function unusable. This is a quick follow-up release to fix
  592. that bug and a couple other things I was able to do.
  593.
  594. FIXES:
  595.
  596. o Fixed "Set Save-To Directory" bug introduced in v2.1; this now works.
  597. o <group>.XOV file deleted from DATA directory when deleting newsgroup
  598. o Fixed group SCAN scheduling - Power-Grab will no longer scan the same
  599. group twice (or more) times at the same time; it will serialize them
  600. so one task runs after the previous completes.
  601.
  602. CHANGES:
  603.
  604. o If a download fails, the incomplete file is not deleted immediately,
  605. as it was before. Power-Grab will only delete the file when the failed
  606. task is removed from the download Queue window.
  607.
  608. ENHANCEMENTS:
  609.
  610. o Added "Open Save-To Directory" to Newsgroup window context menu.
  611. This will open the directory in Windows Explorer. If the directory
  612. does not exist, it will ask if you want to create it (or cancel).
  613.
  614.
  615. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  616. // What's New (v2.1)
  617.
  618. FIXES:
  619.
  620. o Setting "Max Retries" to 0 in setup now disables any
  621. 'Retry Limit Exceeded' errors; Power-Grab will retry
  622. indefinitely. Also added a 4 second inter-retry delay
  623. to keep Power-Grab from hammering the network when in
  624. an auto-retry loop under bad conditions (network cable
  625. unplugged, etc.)
  626.
  627. o Added support for Soft-Stopping tasks that are stuck in
  628. auto-retry loop re-connecting to server.
  629.
  630. o Fixed 'yEnc' file size reporting in Queue window
  631.
  632. o Removed the tilde from all file/selection size displays;
  633. now displays "16.00 K" instead of "~16.00 K"
  634.
  635. o Fixed Server Groups dialog "Refresh" function. After
  636. refreshing the server group list, the connection was
  637. never closed. This would cause 1 less channel to be
  638. available for downloading until the server timed out
  639. the connection or Power-Grab was closed and restarted.
  640.
  641. o Fixed Server Groups dialog: ENTER is now the same as
  642. clicking the "Apply" button (instead of closing the
  643. dialog). ESC closes the dialog box if not in the middle
  644. of a "Refresh" operation; otherwise ESC cancels the
  645. refresh operation.
  646.
  647. o Fixed "Add Newsgroup" dialog so that if the directory
  648. you enter does not exist, it will try and build it
  649. instead of giving a "directory does not exist" error.
  650.
  651. o Fixed "Set Default Download Directory" dialog so that
  652. if the directory you enter does not exist, it will try
  653. and build it instead of giving a "directory does not
  654. exist" error.
  655.
  656. o Fixed "Join Parts" dialog "Queue To Top" option.
  657. This now works correctly.
  658.
  659.
  660. ENHANCEMENTS:
  661.
  662. o Added 'Display' setup page; you can specify font and
  663. text/background colors for groups, headers and queue.
  664.
  665. o Added 'Sound' setup page and sound toggle button to
  666. toolbar; added some audio to About dialog.
  667.
  668. o Added 'Hot Tracking' setup option for Newsgroup window
  669. (hover-selection and 1-click activation.)
  670.
  671. o Added "HOLD" feature for tasks; download dialogs have new

  843. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  844. // Definitions
  845.
  846. A few quick program definitions:
  847.
  848. - Channel: A channel is an connection with the server. When you
  849. configure Power-Grab, you have the option to select the maximum number
  850. of concurrent connections to the news server. The minimum number is
  851. 1, which means there is just one connection and all tasks are
  852. processed on that one connection.
  853.
  854. - Task Affinity: Affinity is used to define what channels a task may
  855. run on. Header scans have an Affinity of 1, which means that it can
  856. only run on channel 1. So if you have 50 tasks in queue, and they are
  857. all header scans, they will run one at a time - all on channel 1. You
  858. will see in the Queue window that the "Chan" column always says "1".
  859. For binary downloads, you will have the option to set the task
  860. affinity, basically allowing you to specify which channel(s) you will
  861. allow that task to run on.
  862.
  863. - Life: This should be common sense, but just in case.. the header
  864. view window has a column labeled "Life" and has percentages for
  865. values. This is the amount of life they have left on the server. If
  866. the "Life" value is down near 1%, then it's about to expire; likewise,
  867. if it is near 100% then it was just posted.
  868.
  869. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  870. // Getting Started
  871.
  872. After you are done configuring the news server in setup, you should get
  873. a current list of newsgroups supported by the server. Select "Server
  874. Group List..." from the Group menu. In there, click the Refresh button.
  875. When the server list appears, select one or more groups at a time from the
  876. list and click the "Add" button. This will add the groups to the program's
  877. newsgroup window. When you're done, click Close.
  878.
  879. Now select one or more groups in the Newsgroup window and select
  880. "Scan Selected Group(s)" from the Group menu. Alternative, select "Scan All
  881. Groups". Press the Play button to enable task processing.
  882.
  883. To "open" the list of binaries/messages in a newsgroup, you must double-click
  884. a single group in the Newsgroup window. Power-Grab will always display the
  885. currently "open" group at the very top of the window, in the title bar.
  886.
  887. Select one or more files from the list of binaries and select "Get And Decode
  888. File(s)" from the File menu. You will be prompted with a dialog box and
  889. have the opportunity there to define, ultimately, the output directory where
  890. the selected files will be decoded to.
  891.
  892. The Newsgroup, Queue and Header windows all have context menu's. Right-click
  893. in the appropriate window to activate them.

  946. Example: Playing on 2forts and typing loadloc will attempt to execute a 2forts.loc file
  947. from a players locs/ directory.
  948.
  949. Location support in FE works the same as it does in QWTF, and as a result enables a player
  950. to use the same location files found in QWTF. An optional location pak for the current
  951. FE list of maps is available on the FE website(listed above). There is currently no support
  952. for making custom location files at this point in time.
  953.
  954. Current location/chat variables supported:
  955.
  956. %a = armor value

1105. .cfg extension in order to be able to use this setting on non-pure servers. You do NOT need
1106. to set this as .cfg if using either of the FE supplied grenade timers.
  1107.
  1108. Example:
  1109.
1110. You have timer.wav in your fe/sounds directory. You would then change this file to be named
1111. timer.cfg. Then you would proceed to setup the variable as "cg_grenadetimer sounds/timer.cfg".

  1273. mIRC v5.91/v6.03/v6.1/v6.12/v6.14 FISH-Addon v1.25 [History]
  1274. ************************************************************
  1275.
  1276.
  1277.
  1278. 19.04.2004: v1.25
1279. If you already patched your mIRC executable,
1280. you DO NOT have to do it again!
  1281. #### Replace only FiSH.DLL and FiSH.mrc ####
  1282.
  1283. - new Diffie-Hellman key-exchange implementation:
  1284. DH1080 - using a 1080 bit prime (the old DH1024
1285. is partly left for downward compatibility, so
1286. that you are NOT able to *start* a DH1024 key-
  1287. exchange, but only answer a DH1024 key-exchange
  1288. request from someone else!)
1289. Read more about this issue in FiSH.txt!
  1290.
1291. - decrypting ACTION messages now works correctly
  1292.
1293. - new feature: mark outgoing (now you are able
1294. to see if your own text is sent encrypted). For
1295. maximum compatibility I recommend you to disable
1296. this feature. You can change the look by editing
  1297. FiSH.mrc; search for %my_own_encrypted_text
  1298.
  1299.
  1300.
  1301. 07.03.2004: v1.24
  1302. - support for mIRC v6.14
  1303.
1304. - stupid decryption bug fixed! (big parts of psyBNC
1305. logs got not decrypted and 2-5% of normal traffic)
  1306.
1307. - now decrypting "Mircryption" messages, those start
1308. with 'mcps' instead of '+OK' - you can find
  1309. Mircryption at http://mircryption.sourceforge.net
  1310.
1311. - another rare crash (which was introduced in v1.22)
  1312. fixed!
  1313.
  1314.
  1315.
  1316. 23.01.2004: v1.23
1317. - another decryption bug fixed, occurred only with
1318. non IRC-RFC compliant servers (namely: BNC from
  1319. http://www.gotbnc.com)
  1320.
  1321.
  1322.
  1323. 22.01.2004: v1.22
  1324. - evil crash during DH1024 key-exchange fixed!
  1325.
1326. - very rare decryption bug (hopefully) fixed!
1327. (happened especially while psyBNC log decryption)
  1328.
1329. - new options 'encrypt NOTICE' and 'encrypt ACTION'
1330. added, available in the popup menu. Decryption of
1331. both will take place, no matter you have them
  1332. enabled or disabled.
  1333.
  1334.
  1335.
  1336. 14.10.2003: v1.21
  1337. - new option 'mark_position' added to blow.ini
1338. You can choose the position of the crypt-mark
1339. via the popup menu now (see FiSH.txt for
  1340. discription and examples)
  1341.
  1342. - If you receive a DH1024 public key, a query
1343. window will get opened automatically to avoid
  1344. 'double-keyXchange'
  1345.
1346. - using GetModuleFileName now to retrieve blow.ini
  1347. path, instead of GetCurrentDirectory
  1348.
1349. - two mIRC exports added for script developers:
  1350. FiSH_decrypt_msg and FiSH_encrypt_msg
  1351.
1352. - improved wrong key handling: no more garbage in
1353. status window while decrypting (broken) messages
  1354.
  1355.
  1356.
  1357. 18.09.2003: v1.2a
  1358. minor changes in FiSH.mrc:
  1359. - Auto-KeyXchange added (you can enable/disable
1360. it in the context menu)
1361. - you can see the current plain-prefix in
  1362. the context menu now
  1363.
  1364.
  1365.
  1366. 31.08.2003: v1.2
  1367. - Old Diffie-Hellman 128bit key-exchange
1368. replaced with 1024bit version. Make sure you
1369. read "Security Info" in FiSH.txt
  1370.
  1371. - Diffie-Hellman 1024bit keyXchange is now
1372. available as a standalone mIRC script.
  1373.
  1374.
  1375.
  1376. 15.05.2003: v1.1
1377. - all functions are now located in FiSH.DLL
1378. (you can delete all unneeded DLL files:
  1379. DH.dll, blowfish.dll, libeay32.dll)
  1380.
  1381.
  1382.
  1383. 12.05.2003: v1.0a
  1384. - plain-prefix added
  1385.
1386. - you can set mark_encrypted=1/0 for each
  1387. channel/person now (edit blow.ini manually)
  1388.
  1389. blow.ini example:
  1390. ------------------
  1391. [FiSH]
  1392. process_incoming=1
  1393. process_outgoing=1
  1394. mark_encrypted=" *"
  1395. plain_prefix="+p "
  1396.
  1397. [#yourchan]
  1398. key=+OK wH.at\EvEr
  1399. mark_encrypted=0
  1400. ------------------
  1401.
1402. In this case mark will be skipped ONLY for
  1403. #yourchan
  1404.
  1405.
  1406.
  1407. 11.05.2003: v1.0
  1408. first release
  1409.
  1410.
  1411. mIRC v5.91/v6.03/v6.1/v6.12/v6.14 FISH-Addon v1.25
  1412. **************************************************
  1413.
  1414.
1415. This is an encryption addon for mIRC, it is based on blowfish and is
1416. fully compatible to original 'blowcrypt' script. It supports private
1417. chat and channel encryption. A secure key-exchange system is included
1418. aswell. Please read the whole document, especially the 'Installation'
  1419. section, before installing it!
  1420.
  1421.
  1422.
  1423. =============
  1424. How it works:
  1425. =============
  1426.
1427. The main blowfish encryption and decryption is being done in a DLL
1428. file (FiSH.DLL). The appropriate functions are being called just
1429. before send() and after recv() - Yes, I am replacing the recv/send
1430. buffers with decrypted/encrypted text. That way it is fully INVISIBLE
1431. to you and will NOT affect any mIRC script or function!
  1432.
1433. Unfortunately it is not possible to do this by only using a mIRC script,
1434. because it is not powerful enough for this job. Why? Well, the main
1435. problem is that you are not able to REPLACE the original mIRC buffer
1436. holding the (cipher) text with the encrypted/decrypted message, so that
1437. you are required to 'halt' the original event (send/receive), encrypt
1438. or decrypt the message and finally send/display the new (cipher/plain)
1439. text. The result is incompatibilty within other mIRC scripts and mIRC
  1440. features, such as:
  1441.
1442. - displaying both (plain and ciphered) message lines in mIRC, workaround
1443. using halt command, which leads again to problems
1444. - screwing formatted charts and ASCII pictures (simply everything that
1445. is using space characters as delimiters) - no workaround known
1446. - performance loss, the mIRC DLL handling is not very fast
  1447. - and more ...
  1448.
1449. So either you request a real plug-in API in next mIRC version from the
1450. author, or you live with the patching, which solves all these problems!
  1451.
  1452.
1453. The key-handling is still located in a mIRC script (FiSH.mrc). You
1454. can set/remove/show keys via popup menues as you are used from
1455. original blowcrypt. You will find some configuration items there too.
  1456.
  1457.
1458. P.S.: Your psyBNC private logs will get decrypted aswell :)
  1459.
  1460.
  1461.
  1462. ==============
  1463. Security Info:
  1464. ==============
  1465.
1466. What happened to DH1024 key-exchange you may ask. To make it short: An
1467. implementation flaw in the code has been found and a new key-exchange
1468. using Diffie-Hellman 1080 bit has been introduced. The implementation
1469. flaw is NOT about a remote vulnerability, it is rather about maths :)
  1470.
1471. The analysis of a friend has come to the conclusion: The old DH1024
1472. key-exchange was probably still as secure as 991 bit. We cannot say
1473. for sure. The characteristic of the implementation flaw makes it hard
1474. to analyze, as not much material about this subject is available.
  1475.
1476. I was very angry when this problem was discovered, but I can't change
1477. what happened now. Such a stupid mistake, unnoticed almost a year.
1478. Well, everyone learns from mistakes ...
  1479.
  1480.
1481. Make sure you NEVER exchange keys plain-text over IRC/ftp/email! If
1482. you ever do that, or someone else who owns that key, you might aswell
  1483. just keep talking plain-text.
1484. Use the new Diffie-Hellman (1080 bit) keyXchange function!
  1485.
1486. You might think this is crazy, but keep in mind: You are using IRC
1487. encryption because you think someone might be able to read your
1488. conversations. Such a person may not only have enough skills for
1489. that, but also for defeating your weak encryption mechanism, including
1490. passwords sent in plain-text and maybe even using DH-128.
  1491.
  1492.
1493. While rewriting the Diffie-Hellman key-exchange, it was discovered
1494. that the used 128bit numbers in DH.dll (written by sinner?) are not
1495. nearly secure enough for key-exchange!
  1496.
1497. It would take just approx. 3 hours to calculate someones private key
1498. by having only the transmitted public key, on a 1.7 GHz machine with
  1499. 256 MB RAM!
  1500.
1501. Now half of the time is used for pre-computation, which needs to be
1502. done only once. And from that point you can calculate any private key
1503. generated with the DH.dll in only 1.5 hours!
  1504.
1505. This applies to *all* DH key-exchange plug-ins using 128bit keys! It
1506. is suggested to use at least 512bit for Diffie-Hellman.
  1507.
  1508.
1509. Therefore keyXchange with Diffie-Hellman in this addon was upgraded
1510. to 1080bit. It is not compatible to the old DH keyXchange with 128bit!
  1511.
1512. The DH routines are now located in FiSH.DLL and have been completly
1513. rewritten using MIRACL. (Thanx to mac for discovering the weakness of
  1514. DH128 and helping me!)
  1515.
  1516.
  1517.
  1518. =============
  1519. Installation:
  1520. =============
  1521.
1522. - If you upgrade from a prior FiSH version, you need to replace
1523. FiSH.DLL and FiSH.mrc ONLY (no need to apply the patch again)!
  1524.
  1525. - Unload ALL old blowcrypt files (ALT+R: blow.mrc, blowcrypt.mrc etc.)
  1526. - You can delete the old unneeded files: DH.dll blowfish.dll libeay32.dll
  1527. - Keep your old blow.ini!
  1528.
  1529. - Place FiSH.DLL, FiSH.mrc (and your old blow.ini) into same directory
  1530. as mIRC.exe!
  1531. - Load FiSH.mrc into mIRC (ALT+R, File->Load->Script)
  1532. - close mIRC
  1533. - apply the appropriate patch (mIRC.vX.X.FISH-Addon.v1.0.exe)
  1534.
1535. - *IMPORTANT* add this to blow.ini (WITHOUT the comments!):
  1536. ---------------------------------------------------------
  1537. [FiSH]
  1538. process_incoming=1 --> decrypt incoming messages?
  1539. process_outgoing=1 --> encrypt outgoing messages?
  1540. mark_encrypted=" ·" --> see below
  1541. mark_position=1 --> 1=append mark at the end
  1542. 2=prefix crypt-mark
  1543. 0=disable crypt-mark
  1544. plain_prefix="+p " --> messages starting with +p will be
  1545. sent plain-text
  1546. -------------------
  1547.
1548. - If you want to mark INCOMING encrypted messages, add mark_encrypted
1549. to blow.ini, in [FiSH] section.
  1550. Suffix Examples:
  1551. mark_position=1
  1552. mark_encrypted=" *" --> ...end of message *
  1553. mark_encrypted=" ·" --> ...end of message ·
  1554. mark_encrypted=" 12·" --> ...end of message ·[blue+bold]
  1555. mark_encrypted= --> disabled
  1556.
  1557. Prefix Examples:
  1558. mark_position=2
  1559. mark_encrypted="· " --> · start of message...
  1560. mark_encrypted="12> " --> [blue+bold]> start of message...
  1561. mark_encrypted="12· " --> [blue+bold]· start of message...
  1562.
  1563. - Set mark_encrypted=0 for #yourchan (in blow.ini) if you don't want
1564. the crypt-mark to be shown there
  1565.
1566. - if you want to see whether your own text is sent encrypted or plain,
1567. you can try the 'mark outgoing' feature. You can change the look by
  1568. editing FiSH.mrc; search for %my_own_encrypted_text
  1569.
1570. **For maximum compatibility I recommend you to disable this feature
1571. **(or even delete the whole section from FiSH.mrc)
  1572.
1573. - If you want to perform DH1080 keyXchange each time a new query window
1574. opens, enable 'Auto-KeyXchange' in the context menu.
  1575.
1576. This will work for 'known' people, those you already had a key set
1577. for, but also if the opening query starts with "+OK" (encrypted, but
1578. no key set or nick changed).
  1579.
  1580.
  1581.
  1582. ====================================
  1583. Standalone DH1080 keyXchange script:
  1584. ====================================
  1585.
1586. Since some of you might not want to use this addon and stay with the
1587. blowcrypt script by sinner (or any other), it is still recommended to
1588. use the new Diffie-Hellman 1080bit keyXchange feature! Which is now
1589. available as a standalone mIRC script.
  1590.
1591. If you are using a very old blowcrypt script, which stores the keys
  1592. plain-text in the blow.ini use DH1080-P.mrc, else use DH1080.mrc ...
  1593.
  1594.
  1595. - Place FiSH.DLL and DH1080.mrc into same directory as mIRC.exe
1596. (Your blow.ini should be located in same directory and not something
  1597. like mIRC/addons!)
1598. - You DON'T have to patch anything!
  1599. - Load DH1080.mrc into mIRC (ALT+R, File->Load->Script)
  1600.
1601. - Make sure you have only ONE script (DH1080.mrc or DH1080-P.mrc) loaded!
  1602.
1603. - If you want to perform DH1080 keyXchange each time a new query window
1604. opens, enable 'Auto-KeyXchange' in the context menu.
  1605.
1606. This will work for 'known' people, those you already had a key set
1607. for, but also if the opening query starts with "+OK" (encrypted, but
1608. no key set or nick changed).
  1609.
  1610.
1611. Now go and make sure all your friends upgrade too :)
  1612.
  1613.
  1614.
  1615. ================
  1616. Technical notes:
  1617. ================
  1618.
  1619. For Diffie-Hellman key-exchange a 1080bit germain prime is used, the
1620. generator g=2 renders a field Fp from 1 to p-1. Therefore breaking it
1621. means to solve a discrete logarithm problem with no less than 1080bit.
  1622.
1623. Base64 format is used to send the public keys over IRC.
  1624.
1625. The calculated secret key is hashed with SHA-256, the result is converted
1626. to base64 for final use with blowfish.
  1627.
  1628.
1629. Some words about the used pseudo random number generator from the author:
  1630.
1631. "This PRNG is based on Serpent, SHA-1 and RIPE-MD 160. The way it is
1632. designed it is as strong as Serpent-160 CFB. The two hashes are chained
1633. in case of one hashes appears to have properties that makes its output
1634. guessable. I did not chain two ciphers for performance reasons.
  1635.
1636. The implementation of the cryptographic algorithms have been tested
1637. against test vectors. The hashes are optimized in assembly language
1638. whereas Serpent uses the standard implementation compiled with ICC8.
  1639.
  1640. How it works:
1641. It initially gathers entropy from various system data and adds it to a
1642. pool that gets hashed by SHA-1 and RIPE-MD 160. The pool is then hashed
  1643. (by SHA-1 & RIPE-MD 160) and a 160 bit Serpent key is then expanded.
  1644.
1645. While the program is running, it will make calls to a function of the
1646. PRNG that uses a low level timer to add entropy to the pool. When the
1647. pool is filled, it is mixed.
  1648.
1649. When you request random data to the PRNG, a buffer is ciphered with
1650. Serpent in CFB mode. After a certain amount of generated bytes, the key
1651. is considered "expired" and a new one is derivated from the hash of the
  1652. current pool.
  1653.
1654. The PRNG can save its state. It will save the pool, add entropy to it
1655. and hash it. What is on disk is always different from what is in memory.
1656. The next time it is started, it will load it, add entropy to it, and
1657. hash it. If an attacker gains access to the PRNG state, the PRNG becomes
1658. as strong as when no file was present."
  1659.
  1660.
  1661.
  1662.
  1663. ==========
  1664. TODO List:
  1665. ==========
  1666.

  1668. (temporary solution: hexedit FiSH.DLL)
1669. - option for wrapping long messages (bad idea)
1670. - if there is demand for other mIRC versions, let me know
  1671. - write proper documentation
