You get a bonus equal to half your level in checks relating to strenuous physical activities such involving athletics and acrobatics. You can also use this background to push yourself further out of combat, such as saving your fall or chasing someone down, at the cost of possibly injuring yourself.
- Blacksmith: You know your way around a forge, able to make tools, arms, and armor. You get a bonus equal to half your level to checks related to studying and examining forged items. You may also try and discover new recipes with materials at hand. Anything you created may later be bought for local currency.
- Chef: An army marches on its stomach, and you know your way around it. You get a bonus equal to half your level to checks related to studying and preparing food recipes. You can make rations bought or supplied stretch out to more people, and gain the ability to experiment with food. Anything you make may later be bought for local currency.
- Criminal: You were once a career criminal, possibly even being part of a penal legion. You get a bonus equal to half your level to checks related to the criminal underground. You also have a contact in the black market and may contact them for rumors, information, or resources. This may come with a request or a favor you need to fulfill.
- Enchanter: You have a keen knowledge in how enchantments work. You get a bonus equal to half your levels related to studying and examining enchanted items. You also have the ability to disenchant magical items, giving you a chance to figure out how they might work. Successfully doing so will allow them to be bought for local currency.
- Engineer: A curious mind has granted you the ability to an affinity with machinery. You get a bonus equal to half your levels related to studying and examining technology. You also have the ability to reverse engineer tech, giving you a chance to how they tick. Successfully doing so will allow them to be crafted or bought for local currency.
- Entertainer: You are talented in a skill that delights a crowd whether that be music, games, tricks, or dancing. You get a bonus equal to half your level in checks relating to entertaining a crowd. Furthermore, performing well and often will give you a reputation in a specific place, granting perks that come with a good reputation.
- Healer: You have extensive knowledge of first aid and medicine. You get a bonus equal to half your level in checks relating to treating injuries and dealing with illnesses. Once per event, you may use the ability Heal without the need of magic or AP, adding your level as a bonus.
- Hunter: You are experienced in killing beasts for the materials they provide. You get a bonus equal to half your level in checks relating to tracking and skinning beasts down. Once per event, you may find enough beasts that provide enough meat to sustain a group of five people comfortably.
- Herbalist: Your knowledge of flora is unmatched. You have a bonus equal to half your level in checks relating to identifying and studying plants, trees, and herbs. Once per event, you may find the exact plant or fruit you are looking for if it exists nearby. Otherwise, you may find enough food to sustain a group of five people comfortably.
- Jeweler: Gems and precious metals contain a special ability to conduct magic. You get a bonus equal to half your level in checks relating to examining and studying jewelry and gemstones. You may also try and discover new recipes with materials at hand. Anything you created may later be bought for local currency.
- Noble-Errant: You belong to a noble family but have found yourself on hard times. You get a bonus equal to half your level in checks relating to dealing with nobility and civilian leadership. You also have a contact among the upper echelons of your home's social class to contact for favors, but you are expected to expand your influence or pay back debts using resources or deals acquired on your travels.
- Outfitter: Cloth and leather are the fabrics to your art. You have a bonus equal to half your level in examining and studying robes, clothes, and leather armor. You may also experiment and discover new recipes with materials at hand. Anything you created may later be bought using local currency.
- Prospector: You have spent your time looking for ore, whether that be working in the mines or panning in a creek. You have a bonus equal to half your level in checks relating to finding mineral veins. Furthermore, you do not need to roll checks related to gathering metals as long as conditions are safe.
- Sailor: Whether as a fisherman or working on a merchant ship, you have spent time at sea. You have a bonus equal to half your level in checks related to sailing, fishing, or swimming. When fishing, you may find enough food to sustain a group of five people comfortably. At level five, you become an experienced navigator and know how to traverse the seas without a map
