Coming from a strange family that would not tend to him as a child, he learned at a young age how to fend for himself. He broke off from his parents and lived with friends since he was 15, and inevitably met a good woman and settled down with her. However, he was always paranoid about the total end of man and the world in general and he planned thoroughly for most situations, filling gigs of his computer with helpful sites and text documents of plans on the apocalypse. When it actually happened, he was ready. He took some guns from his parents who lived near him, took a car, and headed into the woods. Surviving off his skill in fishing and survival in general they stuck out hard in the woods for three months, however, a raid on his camp by some rednecks looking for game killed his parents and his girlfriend. He finished off the rest of them just in time to save his best friends, but in a rage he accidently killed both of them.

After this he stayed safe for another 2 weeks before heading into town and finding his way to the military outpost. He figured if his brothers in arms still survived, then he might have a chance if he stuck with them.
