  1. 03[19:15] * Now talking in #meanstreets
  2. [19:15] <~Storyteller> Nick up and let's do this bad boy.
  3. 03[19:16] * BB is now known as Seren
  4. 03[19:16] * Kal is now known as Brianna
  5. 03[19:16] * Medipack is now known as Nicole
  6. [19:33] <~Storyteller> It's been a long, long day. Brianna, there's been a sudden upsurge in murders. This guy's a real sick fuck, carving up his victims like they were a sheets of paper and running off with their skin as some weird-ass trophy. In an effort to get your mind off your work, your partner Aden Tanner sent you off to get some rest while he took care of the paperwork for the latest discovery in this
  7. [19:33] <~Storyteller> serial murder case.
  8. [19:33] <~Storyteller> Nichole, shit has been less than pleasent. They keep sending you these bodies with giant sections of flesh and skin missing from them. If you're not grafting, you're probably fuming over the sicko that seems to be going out of his way to make your work harder and harder still. It's as if he hated art! For the time being, you're off duty and out to get some food at your favorite place.
  9. [19:33] <~Storyteller> It's the third time this week that person's been through your trash. You've ruled out vermin after you got those locking lids for your rubbish containers and your neighbors seem to know nothing about the person going through your waste. All this stalking nonsense is giving you a firece case of writer's block Seren. Perhaps some time at your favorite eatery can clear up the block and maybe
  10. [19:33] <~Storyteller> generate some ideas on how to get rid of this trash picker.
  11. [19:33] <~Storyteller> The little eatery isn't much, but it's almost a home away from home. The staff know your names by heart, and when she isn't getting anyone else food, the waitress Dolores likes to chat about your day and gossip a bit. Such a ray of sunshine that girl is. There are several other regulars in here tonight at roughly eight on a mid-winter's night. One thing that creeps you out is that big guy
  12. [19:33] <~Storyteller> in the corner who is either a hunched over giant or made of coats. Dolores looked a little freaked out when she brought him the soup of the day.
  13. 03[19:34] * Glodrhun (Glodrhum@sux-CC21EEE3.dhcp.mdsn.wi.charter.com) has joined #meanstreets
  14. 06[19:41] * Brianna sips her coffee. SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP. It's better than doing paperwork, at least.
  15. 06[19:42] * Seren seats herself at a small table by the window, ordering not much more than a spot of tea for now. She was mostly just here to take her mind off of things, though. Or was it to get her mind off of things? No matter. She not long after pulls out a journal and pen, opening to a blank page which she scribbles ideas on, corssing out old ones as often as writing new ones.
  16. [19:44] <Nicole> Normally she'd admire the handiwork of whoever has been making these dead bodies...but all these sections of flesh and skin smply proved to be more work for her thab anything, more sickos who think they're hot stuff for collecting random bits. No surgical precision, there was even ripping in some places!
  17. 06[19:44] * Nicole rubbed her forehead a bit, choosing not to mull over her grim work as she decided to enjoy a panini and soup by one of the booths,
  18. 06[19:50] * Brianna continues sipping her coffee. Damn fine coffee.
  19. [19:52] <Brianna> (Three successes.)
  20. 02[19:54] * Nicole (MediPack@sux-4A5F8FA1.vc.shawcable.net) Quit (Connection reset by peer)

  22. [20:01] <~Storyteller> For a time, all is well. Dolores is a ball of sunshine as per usual until she has to disappear into the kitchen for a moment to get a fresh pot of coffee. You'd have to be blind to not notice the walking coat rack sit up and move toward the kitchen, hardly touching his soup.
  23. 06[20:03] * Brianna lowers her newspaper she's reading below her eyes. Now what's going on here?
  24. 06[20:04] * Seren eyes the suspicious, heavily-garbed figured as she scans about the eatery idly. Noticing it stalking off towads the kitchen, she continues to eye it, eventually rising making a few steps towards the kitchen herself. This looked like trouble, and she generally didn't like trouble in her neighborhood.
  25. 06[20:06] * MediPack looks up as she noticed movement from the figurative coatrack, raising a brow as her eyes following it as it stalked off towards the kitchen behind Dolores...
  26. 03[20:07] * MediPack is now known as Nicole
  27. 06[20:11] * Brianna pulls her phone out of her pocket and taps the face. She puts it to her ear after punching in her partner's speed-dial.
  28. [20:14] <~Storyteller> "What is it Bri? The computer nearly froze before you called," your partner Aden says after picking up.
  29. [20:15] <Nicole> "Um...excuse me?" Nicole calls out, "The kitchen's offlimits." the woman trying to break the silence and calling some attention to the mass of coats.
  30. [20:16] <Brianna> "There's a guy at the restaurant. He's... I dunno, something's not right about him. Suspicious, even. Something about him, he just caught my eye. And that's never a good sign."
  31. [20:16] <~Storyteller> Nicole, the mass of coats outright ignores you and steps in through the swinging door.
  32. [20:17] <~Storyteller> "Like what? Is he giving Dolores the eyes or something?"
  33. 06[20:18] * Seren just keeps watching, warily, now approaching the counter. She kept her eyes on the doorway to the kitchen always. As Nicole speaks up, she was about to also add her voice in objection, but refrains as the other woman's goes ignored.
  34. [20:19] <Brianna> "You could say that. He just went into the kitchen." Brianna stands up, dropping her paper, and calmly walking to the other side of the restaurant, left hand in her trenchcoat pocket.
  35. [20:19] <~Storyteller> From behind the door, you can hear Dolores shout in surprise and chastise the man in the coats before getting cut off suddenly., "Sir, go back to chair! I'll bring you so-"
  36. 01[20:22] <Seren> With that disturbing cue as a trigger,t he brown-haired young lady quietly opens the kitchen door and tries to subtly make her way in to see what was going on.
  37. [20:22] <Brianna> "Aden, something's wrong, get the hell over here!" She stuffs the phone into her pocket and barges in through the door; pushing Seren aside. "Stay away." From her pocket, she pulls out a tazer and points it at the coats. "Freeze, police! Stop right where you are!"
  38. 06[20:23] * Nicole gets up from her seat to follow after Mr.Coats, but halts in her steps as Brianna rushes past.
  39. [20:24] <~Storyteller> There's the sudden noise of a loud, violent crash. Something or someone has fallen and taken a lot of kitchenware with them. The door swings open as you force it to comply. Inside you spot the man in the coats on top of Dolores, her legs sticking out towards you. You see the man move suddenly several times, each movement ending is a nasty, squashing noise. He ignores the police presence
  40. [20:24] <~Storyteller> and keeps on with whatever it is he's doing to Dolores.
  41. 06[20:26] * Seren grimaces as she's shoved aside. What a rude officer. Did she really think she could handle this situation by herself? She moves further in, disregarding any warnings herself. Neighborhood watch up in this.
  42. 06[20:26] * Brianna takes a second to analyse the situation. I take it those noises are coming from Dolores?
  43. 01[20:27] <Seren> That said, when she she spots the coat-man and Dolores, her face goes a bit pale.
  44. 06[20:28] * Nicole urgently starts for the kitchen as well open hearing the sudden crash. "What's going on he--oh god..."
  45. [20:28] <~Storyteller> Soon, a pool of bright red blood begins to form around Dolores, the man in the coats continuing to hack at the poor woman.
  46. 06[20:30] * Brianna tosses her phone to Seren. "My partner's on the line. tell him to get backup!" She runs over and slams her foot into Dolores's attacker's shoulder; putting her entire weight into getting him off her.
  47. 06[20:32] * Seren calms herself as best she can, but still sounds quite panicked when she starts speaking, "Hello, officer? Your partner just tossed me her phone. She needs backup bad. There's...so much blood and...someone's being attacked!"
  48. [20:32] <~Storyteller> The man stops his carving for a moment, only to turn and face his would be attacker. The man's face is dirty, specked with blood, and the grey hair that isn't obscuring his head only serves to shade those dark, hollow looking eyes of his.
  49. [20:34] <~Storyteller> "Keep calm miss! I'm on my way with some firepower." The line goes dead.
  50. 06[20:34] * Brianna keeps the tazer pointed at him. "I said get off her!" She backs away to a safer distance now that his attention is on her.
  51. 06[20:35] * Seren puts down the phone and begisn to look around the kitchen for pots or something to throw. Anything
  52. [20:36] <~Storyteller> The man turns back to the mangled woman, and pulls at a clump of flesh from Dolores' neck. With a heave, he manages to pull off all the skin lining her neck and most of her lower jaw. He stuffs the section of excised skin into his layers of coats.
  53. 06[20:37] * Brianna fires the tazer at him. What the /fuck/.
  54. [20:41] <~Storyteller> The two bolts of the tazer get stuck inside the man's coats and one can hear the crackling of the electricity as it surges into the man. He seizes for a moment, before shaking of the offending layer of coats. His work otherwise completed, the man stands and begins to walk out the back of the diner.
  55. 06[20:42] * Brianna stands in his way and blocks the door. She hastily fishes in her pocket for another taser cartridge.
  56. 06[20:42] * Nicole grimaces a bit...great THIS was the one responsible for sending all those bodies...she rushes toward Dolores and check on the condition of the woman.
  57. 06[20:42] * Seren watches the taser prove useless, an expression of horror and disbelief as he just proceeds to -walk out-.
  58. [20:44] <~Storyteller> The hulk of a man looks down at you Brianna. He's determined to get through this door, even if he has to murder you too.
  59. 03[20:45] * Roger_Fields (chatzilla@E0DE0E6A.5D4C683F.D4EF3F1E.IP) has joined #meanstreets
  60. 06[20:45] * Brianna takes several steps back; replacing the cartridge at the end of her taser and dropping the fired one. "What... what the fuck are you?" AND WHERE THE HELL IS MY BACKUP?
  61. 01[20:46] <Seren> "He said it's coming!"
  62. 06[20:47] * Seren looks around the kitchen for something that could be of use, anything. Of course, if a taser didn't stop this son of a bitch, what -would-?
  63. [20:48] <~Storyteller> The monster of a man simply swings a meaty fist at Brianna, knocking her out of his way and sending her spiraling into a heap of trash.
  64. [20:49] <~Storyteller> The man begins to step out into the cold of the alleyway.
  65. [20:51] <Nicole> also what should I roll to try and stabilize Dolores...if she is even any shape to be stabilized anymore >.>
  66. [20:51] <Nicole> (oops_
  67. [20:54] <~Storyteller> Brianna, you come to after having the wind knocked out of you. The mass of coats moves methodically down the alleyway before stooping down to all fours and suddenly transforming into a giant wolf with a orange-red and white coat and racing off.
  68. 06[20:54] * Brianna blinks. Excuse me, eyes? Try that again. Brianna looks again before he runs off.
  69. [20:54] <~Storyteller> It is indeed a wolf running in the snowy alley.
  70. 06[20:54] * Seren just...watches the hulking murderer leave with a blank expression, one of someone who didn't know what the hell to feel after something that monstrous just happened.
  71. 06[20:56] * Nicole is busy trying to stop the bleedinging and hoping to have a slim chance of stabilizing the victim.
  72. 06[21:00] * Brianna pulls herself up and looks for Seren. "H-Hey," she coughs, "where's my phone?"
  73. 01[21:00] <Seren> "S-Should be on the counter there, where I put it down," she points over.
  74. [21:01] <~Storyteller> Nicole, you put some effort into it and manage to keep some of the blood inside poor Dolores. She might just make it if you get her to a hospital.
  75. 06[21:02] * Brianna grabs it. The call was dropped. "... Where are you...?" She follows him outside, putting the phone back in her pocket. If it's snowing, there should be tracks- /human/ tracks- going outside.
  76. [21:04] <Nicole> "Alright that was close.." She looked over at Seren, "you over there, call an ambulance over right now! There's not much time!"
  77. [21:04] <~Storyteller> Outside, you see the massive boot prints stained red suddenly shift over to giant dog tracks.
  78. 06[21:05] * Seren gets out her own phone and calls for emergency services, "Hello? Someone was attacked here...she...doesn't look good at all, please hurry!" she explains, denoting the location of the restaurant and other information.
  79. 06[21:07] * Brianna replaces the taser in her pocket and runs after the tracks; following the blood and the TOTALLY HUMAN FOOTPRINTS.
  80. [21:07] <~Storyteller> The dispatch sends an ambulance right away.
  81. 06[21:08] * Seren remains on scene after hanging up, then, letting out a string of Welsh curses, likely just to vent the anxiety fo the situation.
  82. [21:11] <~Storyteller> The footprints go out to the maze of alleyways behind the diner, but as you flowly the clearly large animal prints, you catch a glimpse of orange-red and white fur running away from you.
  83. 06[21:13] * Nicole helps with getting the victim onto the ambulance, going on a trip to the hospital herself...she can't really stick around with blood covered hands at this rate.
  84. 06[21:13] * Brianna pulls out her radio. "Aden! Where are you? He's gotten into the back alleys, and I think I'm going to lose him." The human. Who she is chasing.
  85. [21:13] <~Storyteller> Out near the diner you hear the screech of tires and a large man bursts into the diner, brown trenchcoat, rugged brown hair and five o'clock shadow, and waving around a pistol and a badge. "Everyone stop! London police!"
  86. 06[21:15] * Seren is certainly not going anywhere. Luckily, she's composed enough not to vomit or anything, but she's still pretty freaked out.
  87. 06[21:15] * Brianna draws her gun once she's certain there are no civilians around.
  88. [21:17] <~Storyteller> Shortly after the man with the gun, the ambulance arrives and takes Dolores to the hospital.
  89. 06[21:18] * Seren remains there, being as generally helpful as she can.
  90. [21:20] <~Storyteller> Aden finally answers his radio, "I just got here! Where'd you run off to?"
  91. [21:21] <Brianna> "In the alleys. I... I think I've lost him. It's like he disappeared..."
  92. [21:22] <~Storyteller> "Shit. Get back here then. I've got a couple witnesses we're gonna have to talk to."
  93. [21:24] <Brianna> "... Yeah, okay..." Brianna gives one last look around and turns around. She kicks snow over the lupine footprints in anger. One last look over her shoulder and she heads pack; stowing the radio (but not the gun) in her pocket and keeping an ear open for any noise except for the crunch of snow under her shoes.
  94. [21:26] <~Storyteller> Out in the distance, you hear a howling. Probably just a lost dog and most definatly not a wolf-monster proclaiming it's dominance.
  95. 06[21:27] * Brianna shivers. Pulling her trenchcoat collar up against her neck. It's just the damned snowy air. And a dog. Her pace quickens.
  96. [21:28] <~Storyteller> Seren and Nicole, the rugged looking man sounds like the one the police woman had on the phone, and he seems to be intent on gathering your statements while he waits for his partner.
  97. [21:31] <~Storyteller> It isn't long until Brianna shows up again through the front as to avoid contaminating the near murder of Dolores.
  98. 06[21:32] * Brianna holsters her glock as she enters. "I saw it with my own eyes and I still don't believe it..."
  99. [21:34] <~Storyteller> "Saw what? The guy who did this get away I take it?"
  100. [21:34] <Nicole> "Well I didn't get much of a good look, I only saw him start for the kitchen all of a sudden after Dolores went in, told him it was offlimits and he went anyways. Then the officer went in and I followed." Niclled explained, wiping down her hands of all the blood...she's going to need a coat to cover the stains on her blouse... "Big hulk of a man, lots of coats...shrugged off a taser."
  101. 01[21:34] <Seren> "Well, I was just here drinkign tea and brainstorming ideas for my latest book when," she explains, mostly calm now, "a very large man covered almost literally head to toe in heavy coats, follow Delores into the kitchen."
  102. 01[21:35] <Seren> "...And that's when he attacked her. I believe all three of us saw it...and yes, a taser did nothing," she seems shocked by that most of all.
  103. 01[21:36] <Seren> "I thought at first it might be because of all the coats, but then he knocked your partner there clear across the room to make his escape."
  104. 06[21:37] * Brianna nods. "It's just as they said. This giant of a man in way too many coats barged in, mauled the waitress, and ran out the back. Threw me like a sack of potatoes."
  105. 01[21:40] <Seren> "I'm not sure what weapon he used to gore her like that," the girl ponders, now realizing something, "I couldn't see anything on him, but there's no way he did that with hsi hands."
  106. 01[21:40] <Seren> "Maybe he had a knife?"
  107. [21:41] <~Storyteller> "Anything about what he looked like, something more than to many coats?"
  108. 01[21:42] <Seren> "Your partner there probably had a better look at him than any of us, trying to block him like she did."
  109. 06[21:42] * Brianna describes him. Even with the pressure of what was going on, she gives a perfect description; noting the man's hollow eyes.
  110. [21:44] <Nicole> "I was a bit busy trying to stabilize the girl the moment he started to leave. Multiple large lacerations around the abdominal area, plus a large chunk of skin torn out from along the jawline and the neck as well....it's a wonder I managed to stabilize her long enough for the paramedics to come along." Nicole recites her preliminary assessment...then pauses at the question "Um...lets see...long unkempt grey hair, and rather disturbingl
  111. 01[21:45] <Seren> (disturbingl-
  112. [21:46] <~Storyteller> "Okay then," Aden says. He looks rather off put about this whole incident. "All I need is some names and numbers in case we need to contact you for some more questioning."
  113. 01[21:47] <Seren> "Seren Pryce," she introduces herself. Actually introducing herself as such felt odd, but she did get it legally changed recently, so she figured she'd better start using it. She gives her number too.
  114. [21:48] <Nicole> -empty eyes)
  115. [21:49] <Nicole> "Nicole Crowe,"she introduced herself, giving her phone number to the officer.
  116. [21:53] <~Storyteller> "Wonderful ladies. That should be all we need," Aden says. "If you need anything or remember something, don't hesitate to call my partner or me, Aden Tanner."
  117. 01[21:54] <Seren> "Er, right, then," she says timidly, exhausted from this ordeal.
  118. 06[21:54] * Brianna reaches into her trench coat and pulls out two business cards. "If you see anything strange at all, call us. My name's Brianna." She eyes Aden suspiciously.
  119. 06[21:57] * Nicole takes the business card, slipping it into her coat "I certainly will."
  120. 06[21:58] * Seren nods, pocketing the card, "Of course, thank you, officer."
  121. [21:59] <~Storyteller> "Let's get a move on Bri. Paper work needs to get done and all that," Aden says, pocketing a notepad.
  122. 06[22:01] * Brianna nods; following after her larger partner. "... Yeah, paperwork."
  123. [22:05] <~Storyteller> In the car, Aden drives. "Something wrong?" he asks you Brianna. Aden seems to be unusually empathetic tonight.
  124. [22:06] <Brianna> "Someone who I knew got carved up by a monster. Of course something is wrong." she snaps.
  125. [22:08] <~Storyteller> "Look, at least that Nicole girl fixed her up. She's gonna get better," Aden says. "But I can feel that its something a little more than that."
  126. 06[22:09] * Brianna turns to face him. "Wh-why do you think that?"
  127. [22:10] <~Storyteller> "Partner's intuition. Just how did that coat guy get away?"
  128. [22:10] <Brianna> "He tossed me away and ran out the back."
  129. [22:11] <~Storyteller> "Yeah, but it took you way to long to get back. What happened after?"
  130. [22:11] <Brianna> "I went chasing after him. He got away."
  131. [22:13] <~Storyteller> "And you didn't shoot him? You could have at least blasted out his damn knee cap or in the leg."
  132. [22:14] <Brianna> "I couldn't find him. I had to follow his tracks. But he was gone." Brianna turns away and resumes looking out the window. "... Just... gone. Poof, vanished."
  133. [22:15] <Nicole> Well...lunch was ruined. She looked over to Seren "So...Seren, was it? You want to drop by the hospital and check up on Dolores?" Nicole asked
  134. 03[22:16] * Gryph (chatzilla@sux-95590CAA.dyn.optonline.net) has joined #meanstreets
  135. 06[22:18] * Brianna hits the lower window button with her elbow as she taps a cigarette out of a pack and lights it with a silver lighter.
  136. 01[22:19] <Seren> "Of course. I do hope they made it in time," she says, trying to force optimism on herself.
  137. [22:20] <~Storyteller> "Yeah, guys don't just vanish like that," Aden says. "Especially guys his size from what you said."
  138. 06[22:21] * Brianna takes a long drag on the cigarette. "He hit me pretty hard. I was kind of out of it for the chase."
  139. [22:25] <~Storyteller> "Fine then. At least we have a face to put to the crimes."
  140. [22:25] <Nicole> "Same here, last thing I want to see is a familiar face down where I work..." Nicole commented as she started for the hospitalbeing within walking distance of eateries has its perks somewhat
  141. [22:25] <Brianna> "It was like hunting a hunter..."
  142. [22:26] <~Storyteller> "What was that?" Aden asks you.
  143. 06[22:26] * Seren follows along calmly, no stranger to walking distances.
  144. [22:28] <Brianna> "I was following the tracks but I didn't even catch up to him. Just glimpses from around corners and stuff." She turns awkwardly to face her partner. "... Why?"
  145. [22:30] <~Storyteller> "Big guy like him builds up some momentum and can haul some serious ass, I guess."
  146. [22:31] <~Storyteller> "Unless you got a better explanation."
  147. [22:32] <~Storyteller> The nearby hospital is a several block walk. Inside the reception area is much better than the chilly outside.
  148. 06[22:37] * Seren quickly makes her way inside, letting the person who knows the way around do the leading for now. She hasn't really been here before, thankfully for her.
  149. [22:41] <Brianna> "... Yeah, I guess." She taps the ash from her cigarette off. "... It was really weird, though. He just walked in and... and started MAULING the poor woman. Ripped a chunk of her neck off. With his /teeth/. He shrugged off my taser like it was nothing and then ran out. It was like something out of a movie."
  150. 06[22:41] * Nicole heads inside as well, checking in with the receptionist "We're looking for a patient, she just'likely been admitted toemergency a while ago...her name is Dolores Miranda?"
  151. [22:41] <Brianna> "And when I was searching for him, in the alleys, it felt like something was watching me. The world was silent, with just me, and him. And he knew where i was, but I couldn't find him."
  152. [22:44] <~Storyteller> The woman at the desk points you to her room, second floor, room seventeen. Inside, you find Dolores, blitzed out of her mind on pain killers, everything below her mouth covered in bandages.
  153. [22:47] <~Storyteller> "Well, try not to worry yourself about it. You've got me over here." It seems that Aden's feebly attempting to make you feel better while masking some of his own concern.
  154. 06[22:49] * Seren frowns bitterly at the sight, but still can't help but feel a bit of relief, "It's amazing she's survived that." So far, anyway. But not like she was going to say that, as much as she feared it.
  155. [22:49] <Brianna> "Gee," she smirks, "nice to know you've got my back, if I ever need to know how nice my butt looks, at least."
  156. [22:52] <~Storyteller> "Better me than some guy in a bunch of coats."
  157. 06[22:55] * Brianna rolls her eyes. "... You know... he did drop the top coat he was wearing, in the kitchen, when I shot him. It reminded me of a snake shedding his skin."
  158. [22:56] <Nicole> "It's just a good thing we got her here in time."
  159. [22:57] <~Storyteller> "Lucky us. One of the lab boys might be able to tell us where he's been."
  160. [22:59] <Brianna> "And now we know what our man looks like. We might be able to wrap up this case. I'm not feeling very up to fighting him hand to hand again."
  161. 01[23:01] <Seren> "Yeah," she says vacantly.
  162. [23:16] <~Storyteller> "Pepperspray Bri. Pepperspray. If it doesn't fuck him up, it'll at least slow him down."
  163. [23:17] <Brianna> "A taser didn't do anything against him. Not one thing. I don't think pepperspray will help."
  164. [23:18] <~Storyteller> "The barbs probably got stuck in his coats. S'either that or we shoot the shit outta him."
  165. [23:23] <Brianna> "... Yeah, I guess so. He was a big guy, and he knocked me so hard I was seeing things, but pepper spray works on even the biggest guys."
  166. 06[23:24] * Seren decides she's had enough of watching a close friend struggle for her life and moves to a chair, taking out her journal to write. These evnts were inspiring, but not in a way she wished. Still, putting down some thoughts on paper helped as a distraction now.
  167. [23:26] <~Storyteller> "Yeah. Way back when in academy, I was the poor dumb son of a bitch that volunteered to be the guy they sprayed."
  168. [23:29] <Brianna> "... Still... that howl... it was kind of creepy. Animal control needs to do their job better, because I am not in the mood for that." She puts out the cigarette in the dashboard ashtray. "Now time for everyone's favourite part of the job: Paperwork?"
  169. [23:30] <~Storyteller> "First we kick some ass, then we do all the nessesscary paper work," Aden adds with a laugh.
  170. [23:32] <Brianna> "Oh, and there's one other thing... but you have to promise not to tell anyone. I'm only telling you because we've been partners for years, okay? This doesn't even go into the report, understand?"
  171. [23:33] <~Storyteller> "Sure thing."
  172. [23:34] <Brianna> "It was like he disappeared into thin air. And I could have sworn that, for half the time, I had gotten confused and picked up on the track of... I dunno, some kind of dog."
  173. [23:34] <Brianna> "Tracking isn't my strong suit, but... I'm not /that/ bad a tracker, right?"
  174. [23:36] <~Storyteller> "No worries. We have our bad nights every now and then. It's not like he turned into one, right? Cause I think that'd be grounds for a psych eval."
  175. 06[23:40] * Brianna laughs. "Of course not. That's impossible. If you think he did, maybe /you/ need the psych evaluation."
  176. [23:41] <~Storyteller> In the hospital, the staff go around and clear out all the visitors for the evening, citing that some of them (especially critical care paitents like Dolores) require their rest and the staff can't be keeping an eye on everyone's overall health if you're there hovering over their shoulders. They unceremoniously kick you out, telling you that you can come back in the morning.
  177. [23:45] <~Storyteller> Over across the street, you both notice a gigantic dog, easily bigger than any one's Great Dane or Afghan, with red-orange-on-white-fur sitting deathly still under the street light. Seren, you note the dog's dark, hollow looking eyes staring at you from across the street.
  178. 06[23:48] * Seren eyes the dog warily, perhaps giving it more attention than was wise. That...was no breed of dog that she had seen, well, anywhere. That said, she remains perfectly still, as that is standard strange dog procedure.
  179. 06[23:48] * Seren carefully gestures for Nicole to do the same.
  180. 03[23:52] * Roger_Fields is now known as Tim
  181. 06[23:54] * Nicole halted as well at Seren's insistance, "That thing's...huge..."
  182. 01[23:54] <Seren> She speaks hushedly, "I...know. Is it inbred or something? Something looks horribly off about it."
  183. [23:55] <~Storyteller> The huge dog keeps staring at you, almost studying you if you didn't know any better. After a good ten minutes, it stands and walks away down the side walk.
  184. Session Time: Thu Dec 15 00:00:01 2011
  185. 01[00:05] <Seren> "If it were black, it'd be an omen of death it's said," she says bitterly, "still certainly felt like one."
  186. 06[00:06] * Seren waves her hand dismissively, "That's just a story though. We should get out of here before it comes back."
  187. 06[00:07] * Brianna rests her head on the head-rest of the seat with a sigh. "I'm going to lose my mind over this case," she mutters to herself, "thanks to some orange-red and white blur."
  188. [00:09] <Nicole> "Pretty sure seeing something that big's an omen in and of itself." she answers back, "Dogs don't get that huge..."
  189. [00:09] <Nicole> "And yeah, we best skidaddle."
  190. [00:09] <~Storyteller> "I'll put in a word with animal control that there's an oversized mutt on the loose. Nothing to worry about," Aden says. "Nothing at all."
  191. [00:10] <Brianna> "Tell me that when they've caught the damn thing, okay?"
  192. [00:10] <~Storyteller> "You'll be the first."
  193. 01[00:15] <Seren> "So, I think I should be heading home? I've got an apartment down this way," she points southward, "want to walk together or will we be splitting here?"
  194. [00:20] <Nicole> "Think it's best we stick together. We did end up as witnesses to a murder earlier and all."
  195. [00:20] <Nicole> "i'm around that way as well, anyhow."
  196. 01[00:20] <Seren> "Right, that's what I was thinking," she smiles comfortingly.
  197. [00:20] <~Storyteller> Brianna, as you and Aden speed down the road, something catches your attention out of the corner of your eye. It's a big dog, red-orange and white, walking down the sidewalk. For a moment, you swear that your eyes connect with it's dark, soulless eyes.
  198. [00:21] <Brianna> "Stop! Stop the car!" Brianna yells; keeping her eyes focused on the dog.
  199. [00:21] <~Storyteller> Aden jams his foot on the brake, causing the car to stop in a screeching halt.
  200. [00:22] <Brianna> "There it is!" She smacks Aden's shoulder and points at the dog. "Over there. That's the exact same colour orange I saw in the alley."
  201. [00:23] <~Storyteller> "Fuck, that's a fucking huge dog." Aden Tanner. Eloquent as always.
  202. [00:25] <Brianna> "... It has the same eyes..." she whispers to herself. "That dog... I can't explain it, Aden, but... that dog is really creepy. Don't you think so?"
  203. 02[00:25] * Gryph (chatzilla@sux-95590CAA.dyn.optonline.net) Quit (Quit: ChatZilla 0.9.87 [Firefox 8.0/20111104165243])
  204. [00:29] <~Storyteller> "I didn't know mutts could get so big. Yeah, I'm just gonna drop you off at your place and take care of this."
  205. [00:29] <Brianna> "... What? What do you mean?"
  206. [00:31] <~Storyteller> "Bri, you just got your ass handed to you by some psycho with a thing for faces and now your seeing these creepy dogs everywhere. Might do you some good to get some time off and rest up, you know?"
  207. 06[00:34] * Brianna takes a deep breath. "But we're partners. We should handle it together."
  208. [00:38] <~Storyteller> "Yeah, but there's some things that I'm good at and you're good at. Like how I can take care of the paperwork in nothing flat?"
  209. [00:38] <Brianna> "And now you can take care of dogs as well?"
  210. [00:40] <~Storyteller> "That's animal control's job. I got some friends that can take care of this. You can just go and rest for the rest of the night."
  211. [00:43] <Brianna> "You're just going to call your friends and have them do it? Well, I guess, if you're not handling it..." She takes a quick look back at the dog. "Okay. Call them, and then drive me home."
  212. [00:46] <~Storyteller> "Yeah, yeah," Aden says. He pulls out a cell phone and dials up a number. Whomever is on the other line seems to be pretty excited and familiar with him. Either way, he gets his friends out on that mysterious dog problem you have before taking you home.
  213. [00:47] <~Storyteller> Seren, it seems whomever is picking through your trash has been at it again. And from the sounds coming from inside the bin, is still going at it!
  214. 06[00:49] * Brianna wraps her right arm around Aden's shoulders for a moment, thanks him, and leaves the car. "I'll even fill out the report for this, if you want."
  215. 06[00:49] * Seren shakes her head and says quietly to Nicole if she's still present, "Excuse me, I need to take care of this..."
  216. [00:49] <~Storyteller> "Nah. It's my treat."
  217. 01[00:49] <Seren> She then proceeds to quietly tiptoe her way towards her trash can.
  218. [00:52] <Brianna> "Okay then. Take care~" Brianna closes the door and heads into her apartment complex and up the stairs. Aww yeah second floor apartment. Once inside, she unloads her pockets (no small task, considering her trenchcoat) and hangs the coat up. She takes off her tie as she heads into the kitchen, pours herself a shot of whiskey, and slams it back. "... What the fuck is going on with today?" she asks herself.
  219. [00:52] <~Storyteller> With all the trash strewn about, it makes it hard for you to make a silent entry. Whatever it is that's inside the can squeaks and you can hear and see the can shake around for a moment.
  220. 06[00:52] * Brianna then continues on with her nightly rituals which aren't really that important.
  221. 06[00:54] * Seren picks up a nearby gardening tool in case of danger and approaches, trying to get a better look at what's rummaging through her trash.
  222. [00:55] <~Storyteller> Inside, on the bottom of the bin on top of an old magazine is a little black cat. It looks up at you with its big yellow eyes and mews at you.
  223. 01[00:59] <Seren> Seren looks at it quite surprised. She could have sworn she animal-proofed the bins. She could try and make sense of how it got in later, she figures.
  224. 01[01:00] <Seren> Seeing it as harmless enough, she asks, "Are you hungry or something?" Yeah, like you can talk to animals
  225. [01:01] <~Storyteller> As if the little thing understood, the cat meows in a most approving manner.
  226. 06[01:01] * Nicole walked on over "I guess you've been having problems with animals rummaging through your trash?" she asked curiously, eyeing the gardening tool "...kinda excessive for that."
  227. 01[01:02] <Seren> "See, I put locks and everything on, so I figured it had to be something bigger to be getting through all of it," she explains embarassedly, putting the tool down.
  228. [01:02] <Nicole> "Does that happen often?"
  229. 01[01:03] <Seren> "Recently, yes," she explains, "I'm going to go get this thing some milk or something."
  230. 01[01:04] <Seren> With that, she heads up to her apartment room, emerging some time later with a saucer of milk which it sets down for the cat, if its still there.
  231. [01:05] <~Storyteller> The cat masterfully leaps up out of the bin and makes a direct line for the milk, lapping it up hungrily.
  232. 06[01:06] * Seren takes this time to look around the area, having also brought a flashlight, to try and see signs of -how- the cat may have gotten past the 'security measures'.
  233. [01:07] <Nicole> "maybe you should probably get in contact with the police about it?" Nicole suggested, following along and peering over to where she was pointing her flashlight
  234. 01[01:08] <Seren> "If it's just a cat, I don't think that's necessary," she shakes her head.
  235. [01:08] <~Storyteller> Looking at the mess that was once the bin, things look normal. If it were some human opening up the lid on it and then rooting around in your garbage. Only problem is, you have the opposite of a human drinking milk from a saucer that you found inside the garbage bin.
  236. [01:11] <Nicole> "I mean about the whole garbage thing you've been having. You said it wasn't the first time someting's gone past the locks."
  237. 01[01:11] <Seren> "Hm, did someone come by, root through my trash and then this cat came along."
  238. 01[01:11] <Seren> "That'd be a funny coincidence," she tries to make sense of this.
  239. [01:12] <Nicole> "and all the more disturbing. Sounds like you have some sort of stalker, at this rate."
  240. 01[01:14] <Seren> "That's what I figured," Nicole only seemed partially upset. After all, being important enough to have a stalker is kind of a credit in itself. The invasion of privacy was a nuisance, though.
  241. [01:18] <Nicole> "Still, might want to talk to the police about it." Nicole insisted, beofre pulling up her phone and checking for any messages. She's on call most of the time down at the morgue anyways...
  242. 01[01:22] <Seren> "Right, then. It doesn't look harmful, so I'll just let animal control know there's a stray cat around here. As for the stalker, well, I'll see what can be done."
  243. 06[01:23] * Seren then proceeds to clean up the mess and re-apply the locks, as futile as they were.
  244. 01[01:23] <Seren> "See you soon, perhaps?" She'd have said 'nice meeting you', but the circumstances hardly were fitting for that.
  245. 06[01:24] * Seren eyes the kitten, considering.
  246. 01[01:25] <Seren> "Actually, I suppose it couldn't hurt to take it in for the night. The complex does allow pets and I don't think its rabid," she gently attempts to pick the kitten up.
  247. [01:25] <~Storyteller> The kitten looks up at you with its big, yellow eyes, a drop of milk coming down from a whisker.
  248. [01:26] <~Storyteller> The kitten goes up without a fuss.
  249. [01:26] <Nicole> "Certainly." She gave a small wave before going on her way...which would be home at around this hour, if she's not being called down to check on anymore new bodies.
  250. 06[01:26] * Seren pets the kitten gently, bringing it in for the night. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?!
  251. [01:29] <~Storyteller> With a purring noise, you and the kitten retire for the evening.
  252. [01:32] <~Storyteller> And so, the stage has been set, the pieces placed, and the seeds planted. What shall become of those that now have a foot in the water of the supernatural? All that remains is to get the other foot wet and the candle lit.
