I was recently sent a link to a screenshot someone on 4chan's /vg/ board had compiled. The image depicts a collage of isolated 4chan posts from between 2012 and 2016 that show me using racist, sexist, transphobic and otherwise unacceptable slurs, made by an anonymous user claiming I "deserve it" for being stupid enough to use the same username from 4chan for my public identity. Regardless of the bad faith intent behind the image, there is absolutely no excuse for any of this. During my late teens I was an absolutely terrible person, and I fell into the void of 4chan/alt right culture where being inexcusably offensive was normalized and encouraged behaviour. As I grew older I began to distance myself from the community and left it altogether when I realised the real harm these words carry towards marginalized communities, and the incredibly unhealthy mentality that grows from being surrounded by this at all times. That is absolutely not who I am anymore, and I try to make an effort to help other people I see falling down the same slippery slope that I did, because I see a part of my old self in so many disenfranchised and angry young men nowadays. Despite this, I still feel I owe the community an apology for my actions and I am truly unreservedly sorry. I open myself up to the community leaders to decide if they wish to take punitive action from here, if any organiser wishes to ban me from their event I will readily comply by any decisions made and fully understand their justification for doing so. I just feel completely awful for letting down the expectations of my friends in the community, and i'm disgusted with myself. I am sorry.
