- RE: Line disconnecting and connecting again on Afrigreen account in Port Elizabeth. I have tried using a different ADSL account and have no problems what so ever so it is definitely afrigreen. Had the same issue the past weekend. I have checked my hardware too and all is working as it should. My account info is "susanbradley@afrigreen" With Thanks - Daniel Bradley
- Afrihost
- Thanks Daniel!
- Looks like there have been quite a few line errors, I've managed to reset the line itself, can you please restart your modem and see if that helps at all. ^E
- Daniel
- Will give it a try, Thanks 🙂
- Afrihost
- Awesome! Thanks. ^E

- Daniel
- Evening, my connection has dropped once again and restricted my internet access once again
- 07/23/2015 7:02AM
- Afrihost
- Hi Daniel, the line appears to be connected now. the disconnects I see show as user requests. Did you reboot your router? ^s
- 07/23/2015 11:11AM
- Daniel
- I restarted my router because I was using a different account. I wanted to watch a press conference stream last night and was unable to do so using your account. Connection has been bad again today and I've been disconnected once again
- Afrihost
- We've just been notified that some changes are being made to the Afrigreen network right now which is why the connection has been a little funny. ^SP
- Daniel
- Ah alright thank you. Hopefully I don't keep getting kicked from my Hearthstone arena runs anymore.
- Afrihost
- I think that what these changes are meant for. 😛 It's still a POC network after all. I have just been informed that the Afrigreen network is back up and changes have been implemented. ^SP
- Daniel
- Thank you for your speedy response. Greatly appreciated
- Afrihost
- Any time! 🙂 Keep me posted! ^SP

- Daniel
- Hi, The accounts i am having issues with are "susanbradley@afrihost.co.za" & "susanbradley@afrigreen". Constant buffering on twitch and packet loss since this morning
- Afrihost
- Hi Daniel! I know our Afrigreen netowrk is currently performing quite well... I can see you are still predominantly connected to your original account. Would you be able to connect to Afrigreen and send me some test results? ^SP
- Daniel
- I switched over to the original account yesterday cause I noticed it was performing a little better for me. I have however switched back over to the Afrigreen account and have some results as requested. Picture 1 is a tracert to Star Wars MMO and Picture 2 is also a tracert too Twitch.tv. I didn't notice any packet loss at the time testing but was definitely experiencing it during the course of the day.
- Daniel
- Afrihost
- That seems pretty normal. I've also been playing SW:TOR and I've used Twitch today and it was fine... So your Afrigreen is performing better you'd say? I'm using Afrigreen currently and it has worked fine.
- Daniel
- Ah awesome 😀 Yeah I think it has calmed down now abit. I will stay on this account for the time being and keep you informed. Performance overall has increased though since the launch of Afrigreen and that's good too see. With Thanks Daniel Bradley
- Afrihost
- Awesome! 🙂 Keep me posted with feedback, Daniel! 🙂 ^SP
- 04/25/2016 11:42AM
- Daniel
- Can you please resync my account? My line has been down for 2 days and came back up last night. It was working fine until it resynced to the exchange at 60kbps. Please fix this ASAP as I have already lost R20 000 in sales while my internet has been down and your Clientzone page does not work EVER. Account affected is "susanbradley@afrigreen"
- Please sort this out ASAP as I cant do any work until this is fixed
- Afrihost
- Hi. I've tried a port reset for you, the line profile does look good though. Let's give it 20 mins to run through - please keep me posted on how things go. ^J
- Daniel
- Thank you very much, Line just resynced and back to normal speed. Much Appreaciated, have a good day further
- Afrihost
- Awesome news, thanks for keeping me posted! ^J
- 08/23/2016 8:49PM
- Daniel
- Please have a look at my line, I cant even watch Twitch on Mobile quality without it buffering. I have noticed a real decrease in network performance these last few days and some really weird routing to Battlenet servers at times. Is there any reason for this happening?
- Afrihost
- Sure. Please confirm your line number so I can take a look. ^J
- Daniel
- (041) 364-1230
- Daniel
- Do you need anything else?
- 08/24/2016 6:51AM
- Afrihost
- Everything seems pretty normal on your line. Have you run any tests from your side that I could take a look at? ^s
- 08/24/2016 11:05AM
- Daniel
- Here is a tracert to the Twitch IP. All looks fine but it still buffers constantly on Low settings. http://i.imgur.com/7edwiUL.png
- I have no software updating or any additional devices on the connection, Wifi is also turned off
- Afrihost
- Thanks Daniel,
- It could be that your DSL line is on a profile high enough to allow Twitch to stream without buffering.
- If you have a Twitch stream open, can you please click on the Options menu and then choose Show Video Stats and let that run for a few minutes and paste a screenshot here. ^E
- Daniel
- Here is a screenshot as requested, This one is using Low settings -> http://i.imgur.com/Dpfal0W.png This one using Medium Settings -> http://i.imgur.com/hEJaYYU.png
- Twitch is the main reason I have an internet connection so hopefully you will be able sort it out. With Thanks Daniel Bradley
- 08/24/2016 12:46PM
- Afrihost
- Thanks. As I said it may just be a bandwidth issue, and one that can only be resolved by upgrading to a faster DSL line. 😞
- One final question, which DNS Servers are you using on your modem at the moment.? ^E
- Daniel
- I'm currently trying Google's DNS (8.8.8.8). Connection used to be perfect on Medium Quality Settings with no issues what so ever using a Uncapped shaped account. I have since then changed to a Premium Uncapped account which is not shaped at all and should be better than the previous one.
- Afrihost
- Ah! Can you please switch your DNS to auto for now and see if that makes any difference with the streaming. ^E
- 10/06/2016 6:49PM
- Daniel
- Are you having issues with your network? I cant watch twitch at all again today. Even on mobile quality
- Afrihost
- Hi Daniel, we're not seeing anything general. Are you having trouble with any other streaming services? What DNS settings are you using? ^SP
- Daniel
- Google services seem fine, other traffic and sites taking a long time to load though. I'm using automatic dns settings at the moment
- Afrihost
- Mind sending me a traceroute to an affected site? ^SP
- Daniel
- Twitch and Facebook -> http://i.imgur.com/n8HiR4b.png They used to be around 200 - 220ms. The following is a Trace to the Blizzard Overwatch servers. Is there anyway this could be lowed? Playing close to 300ms is not fun -> http://i.imgur.com/G2Aj4J1.png
- Afrihost
- Have you tried playing around with DNS settings? ^SP
- Daniel
- I try Google DNS settings ( 8.8.8.8 ) when i feel the net is being sluggish but that is about all that I've done
- http://8.8.8.8/
- 8.8.8.8
- Afrihost
- Is it improving anything for you tonight? ^SP
- Daniel
- No not really, it reaches 300ms+ with Google DNS sadly
- Afrihost
- Not cool. 😞 I'll pass your results onto our network Team. ^SP
- Daniel
- Thank you very much 🙂
- Afrihost
- Anytime. 🙂 ^SP
- Daniel
- Ran the tracert using a WebAfrica account to both twitch and facebook. Both were 200ms indicating something fishy happening on your network Trace Route -> http://i.imgur.com/Eye5kyc.png
- Afrihost
- Thanks. Our NOC Team is currently investigating the issue. ^SP
- Daniel
- Afrihost
- :)
- 10/12/2016 10:46PM
- Daniel
- No Internet access again tonight. Had the same problem last night. I'm sorry think it's time for me to move on. Been a customer since I got adsl at home. Unfortunately low speeds and high ping have been an issue for quite sometime. I have tested other isp accounts to make sure it isn't my line but unfortunately it comes down tohe end of the day afrihost having a bad network performance and bad routing for gaming 😞
- Daniel
- Unfortunately what it comes down to at the end of the day is afrihost having*
- 10/13/2016 7:32AM
- Afrihost
- 😞
- Which other ISPs have you tested with? ^E
- 10/14/2016 12:15PM
- Daniel
- I have tried both WebAfrica and Cybersmart. I get 180ms using WebAfrica account playing Overwatch. If I'm using my Afrihost account i get somewhere close to 210ms -240ms, This is a considerable ms difference if you like to play a game competitively online.
- Afrihost
- Hi Daniel, I totally understand. Are you seeing this additional latency only in game, or on all your pings? ^s
- Daniel
- Many of the games I play have local servers in SA so that ping is mostly fine ( below 100ms) the others are generally from the Blizzard franchise and yeah the ping for them is generally higher than 200ms
- Afrihost
- I see. When you run general tests, like traceroutes to google.com or afrihost.com, do you see additional latency when using Afrihost, as opposed to other ISP networks? ^s
- Daniel
- Not really no, Tracert from Afrihost account -> http://i.imgur.com/a7uB6w1.png Tracert from WebAfrica account -> http://i.imgur.com/lS02Tzq.png Will the extra latency be present when doing a tracert to google.com? Isn't it a prioritized local service on the network?
- 10/14/2016 2:25PM
- Afrihost
- It seems like you're getting much better latency on our network. Google should be locally cached and traces should show as local on both networks 😞 ^s
- Daniel
- Yeah I don't have issues with Google Services at all because they are locally cached. I am however having issues with Battle.net Services, I am using the IP found from the http://eu-looking-glass.battle.net I will attach both traceroutes from both accounts. Afrihost Account-> http://i.imgur.com/WYrqMwd.png WebAfrica Account -> http://i.imgur.com/JFcXsnn.png At the moment it isn't too bad, however it only gets worse later in the evening.
- Afrihost
- It looks like we're taking a slightly longer router, but 20ms should very marginal in difference, even for gaming ^s
- Daniel
- True, but when that difference comes closer to 100ms in the evenings that's a little different,
- Afrihost
- Would you be able to run a traceroute when you start to see the latency spike? ^E
- 10/26/2016 10:59AM
- Daniel
- 300-400ms trying to play Overwatch this morning. http://i.imgur.com/45FhIJZ.png Tried WebAfrica account and get a solid 180ms
- Afrihost
- Hi Daniel... We're currently seeing a latency issue on our Southern network. 😞 Apologies for the inconvenience.

- Afrihost Network Status
- See the status updates of our DSL, Mobile and Hosting networks, what's affecting them - if anything, and what the cause is.

- 10/30/2016 9:05PM
- Daniel
- What network problems are there now? I cant watch twitch at all without it buffering. I used to be able to watch twitch streams at Medium Quality and now I cant even watch on mobile. What is the point of having this service if it doesnt work? I will not upgrade my line to watch streams as I could watch them no problem whats so ever. Issues have happened since your new deals and have not stopped
- Daniel
- I keep on saying I'm going to leave and this time I will. I will not pay for a sub par service and get told to upgrade my line to watch Twitch once again. It's your bandwidth as I have used a WebAfrica account and encounter no problems at all. I will however take this further
- 10/31/2016 9:01AM
- Afrihost
- Ah no! I am really sorry about this. 😞 We are currently having a degraded service issue at the moment in the southern region 😞 We are currently working on getting this resolved ASAP! ^V
- 11/04/2016 7:02PM
- Daniel
- Internet issues once again tonight, Tried a different ISP account and it works. This is getting a little ridiculous now, even more so as BlizzCon is about too start and everything is just buffering even on mobile settings. Here is a tracert http://i.imgur.com/dvXZZgk.png
- Afrihost
- Hi Daniel, I am very sorry! 😞 We got word we are having network issue to international sights. We do not have an ETA on how long it last. 😞 ^V
- Daniel
- I spent R2695 on the Virtual Ticket, now I wont even be able to watch it. I'm aware that it's not your fault but you can see how frustrated i'm getting having so many issues with the afrihost network as i dont moan for no reason
- Afrihost
- I totally understand where you are coming from! 😞 I know it is frustrating. But, I can assure you we are working on this as fast as we can to make sure this problem is short lived. 😞 ^V
- Daniel
- I unfortunately think it is time for me too leave, I've been having problems since before the Afrigreen Network was installed in hopes that the network would return to the stability and performance it once was when I first joined. I sadly don't think that time will return as even when the network is performing "well" i still cant watch Twitch streams on Medium quality as I once did when i first joined.
- 11/05/2016 7:12PM
- Daniel
- Do you make any line changes on the weekend? Example: Line Upgrades?
- 11/07/2016 7:37AM
- Afrihost
- Hi Daniel 🙂 really sorry to hear about your connection. How is the connection doing this morning? You can request a line regrade via the Clientzone portal at any time 🙂 ^D
- MAR 8TH, 8:31PM
- Daniel
- Twitch has been incredibly laggy today for some reason. Is your network ok? I can't even watch something on mobile quality as it stops and starts constantly. I've noticed many complaints on your facebook page so was wondering what was wrong as it is usually not like this. I upgraded from a 2mbps line to a 4mbps connection to avoid this sort of thing from happening as 4mbps is more than enough bandwith.
- Afrihost
- Heya Daniel. Sorry to hear about your poor Twitch experience. We're not seeing any general issues at the moment. Is Twitch the only service giving you trouble? ^SP
- Daniel
- I was having ping issues playing overwatch earlier too. Ping would go from the usual 200ms to 2000ms sometimes 3000ms. Had to stop playing for the day sadly as a result
- Afrihost
- Not cool. 😞 Are you using any specific DNS settings? ^SP
- Daniel
- I was using google dns settings as they seemed to give me better results. I have changed it back to automatic but has not made a difference. I used Battle.net Looking Glass to check any possible problems and have copied the results here: -> http://pastebin.com/FYyFaW81
- TRACEROUTE: traceroute to 169.1.106.153 (169.1.106.153), 15 hops max, 60 byte p - Pastebin.com
- pastebin.com
- Afrihost
- Thanks. I must say that these results look pretty normal for an international trace... As a comparison, are you seeing any higher than normal results tracing locally? ^SP
- Daniel
- Yeah they look fine from Blizzard the server side. My experience on this side however was being a little different. This is a trace to google.com and youtube.com which i understand you cache locally -> http://i.imgur.com/zLiL5Vy.png and here is a screenshot of a twitch stream buffering on low quality (barely watchable) http://i.imgur.com/Mt38hCr.png
- Daniel
- Screenshot of my ping in Overwatch. Ping is in the top right corner http://i.imgur.com/Sl1Ue2y.jpg
- MAR 9TH, 7:34AM
- Afrihost
- Morning Daniel,
- Sorry to hear about the high in-game ping. Did you run any ping tests to bras.afrihost.com? ^D
- MAR 31ST, 10:17PM
- Daniel
- Connection to Twitch and Youtube has been a little slow recently, Buffering on both Youtube and Twitch. Cant even watch a stream on Mobile quality settings without a buffer ever few seconds. A 4mbps connection even if it was being shaped at the time should allow me to view a stream using those quality options.
- APR 3RD, 8:04AM
- Afrihost
- Morning Daniel,
- I'm not aware of any issues linked to these streaming services. Are you currently still experiencing this problem? ^D
- APR 3RD, 1:12PM
- Daniel
- It's working fine now, later tonight however it will go back to poor performance as that has been the trend the last week.
- Afrihost
- We'll be online until late tonight, would you be able to contact us the moment you start to see a drop in performance? ^E
- Daniel
- Yeah sure, I will do so. It just doesnt make sense as most streams on twitch when set to mobile quality only have a playback rate less than 100kbps, my connection is more than enough to handle that even if it was being shaped at the time. I'll be sure to let you know when it happens later tonight. WIth Thanks
- Afrihost
- We definitely need to figure out what's going on! ^E
- APR 4TH, 7:47PM
- Daniel
- Twitch is constantly buffering again tonight. Didnt have a problem last night for a change but today the issue is back once again. Cant even watch a stream on mobile quality using a 4mbps line 😕
- Afrihost
- Sorry to hear that! 😞 Is it just Twitch that you're battling with? ^SP
- Daniel
- Yeah my ping seems to be fine in games at the moment. Just a constant buffering on videos in mobile quality on twitch
- Afrihost
- What DNS setting do you currently have configured on your router? ^SP
- Daniel
- I have the DNS setting set to auto. I sometimes use Google if i'm having issues and it helps at times.
- Afrihost
- Have you tried switching DNS this time around? ^SP
- Daniel
- Tried switching them now and it didn't help. Changing DNS should not however be a proper solution to the problem though. I shouldn't have to change DNS in order to watch things online. Seems to happen only in the evenings too.
- Afrihost
- It's useful during troubleshooting. 🙂 Could you please run a traceroute to Twitch for me? ^SP
- Daniel
- Tracert looks fine, It has the usual and expected pings that are expected. Twitch seems to have stopped buffering at the moment too, however the same thing happens almost every night. http://i.imgur.com/T62gGGo.png
- Afrihost
- Would you be able to run another trace while you're experiencing problems? ^SP
- Daniel
- I will do so and let you know, Thanks for your assistance
- Afrihost
- Have a great night! 🙂 ^SP
- APR 5TH, 7:26PM
- Daniel
- Issue is back again tonight, The tracert pings are abit higher this time round too. http://i.imgur.com/nVEw5r9.png
- Afrihost
- This does seem higher than normal. 😞 What DNS settings are you using? ^SP
- Daniel
- I've been swapping between Google and Automatic again.
- Afrihost
- What DNS settings were you using when you sent through the test? ^SP
- Daniel
- I was using the Afrihost ones by setting my router to automatic dns
- Afrihost
- Thanks for confirming. Are you experiencing issues on local sites and servers too? ^SP
- Daniel
- It seems to just be international servers.
- Afrihost
- Thanks for confirming. I've passed the information onto our Network Team to investigate. ^SP
- Daniel
- You are welcome.
- Afrihost
- They have logged the issue with our upstream providers. Your experience should be back to normal soon. 🙂 ^SP
- Daniel
- Awesome, thank you very much. It is a little bad at the moment no matter which DNS setting I use. I have provided another tracert here -> http://i.imgur.com/cpn1Lm8.png
- APR 6TH, 7:00AM
- Afrihost
- Morning Daniel, 🙂
- I just wanted to follow up and see how your connection is doing at the moment? ^D
- APR 6TH, 7:21PM
- Daniel
- I was not at home this morning, so not sure about that time frame. It is however buffering again on mobile quality at the moment.
- Afrihost
- Hi there,Daniel. Our team managed to address the international connectivity issues from last night. Is Twitch the only service giving you trouble tonight? ^SP
- Daniel
- It seems so yeah, Just twitch having issues with twitch at the moment
- Afrihost
- Thanks for confirming. Are you currently using google DNS? ^SP
- Daniel
- Yeah I am using Google DNS, I switched over a few mins ago from Afrihost DNS
- Afrihost
- Are you changing these settings on your PC or your router? Do you perhaps have conflicting DNS setup? ^SP
- Daniel
- I'm setting them on the router by logging into it. My Network settings are set to automatic on my PC.
- Afrihost
- Could you please send through your Twitch streaming stats? ^SP
- Daniel
- I just have a picture of this at the moment, wifi is turned off and no services on the PC are using bandwith http://i.imgur.com/jwd3Nqq.png
- APR 6TH, 10:54PM
- Daniel
- Seems it is the bandwidth associated with my Afrihost account that is the problem. I tried another ISP using a different account and have no problems.
- Daniel
- Afrihost account has seemed to come right at the moment. Must surely be a routing problem or something along those lines that is causing the issue.
- APR 7TH, 2:56AM
- Daniel
- Problems happening again @ 2:45am. Looks like the traffic is coming from a server in the USA, I'm pretty sure Twitch has a server in Europe where the traffic is supposed to be sent as they use Amazon servers (Company is owned by Amazon). This is the IP I traced which was sending +- 200kbps of data so I presume it is the stream IP address http://i.imgur.com/q2w72Ck.png and here is the tracert of that specific IP http://i.imgur.com/MRODWLh.png.
- APR 7TH, 7:30AM
- Afrihost
- Morning Daniel,
- Thanks for sending through the test results. 🙂
- Was this error occurring on one particular stream or was it affecting any stream viewed? ^D
- APR 7TH, 8:47AM
- Daniel
- It was affecting any stream I tried to watch last night.
- Afrihost
- I'm not aware of any Twitch errors on the network last night. I've made a few changes to your data link. Please can you test again tonight and keep us updated on your experience. 🙂 ^D
- APR 7TH, 2:14PM
- Daniel
- No change as of yet as the streams are still buffering for me at the moment.
- Afrihost
- 😞
- Which stream is buffering at the moment for you? ^E
- Daniel
- Currently this one -> https://www.twitch.tv/loltyler1
- loltyler1 - Twitch
- 5
- twitch.tv
- But it happens with every stream i try and watch nowdays
- Afrihost
- Thanks. I've just reset your account, can you please restart your modem quickly and then test the connection again. ^E
- Daniel
- I will do so and let you know, Thanks for your assistance
- Afrihost
- Thanks! ^E
- Daniel
- Still buffering on Low quality setting. Tried watching the stream on mobile quality but you can barely see a thing -> http://i.imgur.com/JIEIleL.png
- Afrihost
- 😞
- Could you run a speedtest on speedtest.net quickly please. ^E
- Daniel
- Speeds look fine, Tested both Local and International speeds. It seems that the buffer only loads a few seconds of the stream and does not keep buffering. Instead it waits for the buffered video to finish playing then it loads more or the stream. Local Speedtest -> http://i.imgur.com/zJXdp8D.png and International Speedtest -> http://i.imgur.com/P1wJnLo.png
- Afrihost
- Yeah, those results look fine. Which DNS Servers are you using? ^E
- Daniel
- At the moment I'm using Google DNS
- Afrihost
- Could you temporarily switch to the Afrihost Automatic DNS and see how that compares. ^E
- Daniel
- At the time I was actually using Afrihost DNS not Google DNS. I changed over to Google DNS now and changed my MTU settings in my router from auto to 1492. Stream seems to have stopped buffering at the moment on Low Quality
- Nevermind, it is still buffering
- Afrihost
- 😞
- Could you switch to this test account and see if there is any difference:
- Username: ahtest@axxessafrica.co.za
- Password: socmed2015
- ^E
- Daniel
- Test account seems to be working alot better. Can play a stream on Low settings without any buffering so far, Here are the stats -> http://i.imgur.com/e213wSK.png
- Afrihost
- Can you please stay on that account for the next 20 to 30 minutes to see if there is any change. ^E
- Daniel
- I will do so and let you know, Thank you very much for your assistance
- Afrihost
- Thanks! ^E
- Daniel
- Account seems alot better, Can watch any stream at Low, Medium and High Quality settings without buffering once. Medium Quality Stream Stats -> http://i.imgur.com/avAYrb2.png & High Quality Stream Stats -> http://i.imgur.com/8kLJnEE.png.
- Afrihost
- That looks a lot better. Can you please try out this account:
- Username: afriguest@afrihost.co.za
- Password: hudyehrvg
- It's a Capped account on our network. ^E
- Daniel
- Alrighty, I just switched over to the account. Should I test it the same way as the previous account and for the same time frame?
- Daniel
- Streams are buffering on this account again, no matter what quality setting -> http://i.imgur.com/2e8ExG4.png
- Afrihost
- Thanks for confirming. I'll pass this info onto our Network Team. Have you logged any support tickets around your query? ^SP
- Daniel
- No I havent, Only been talking to people on Facebook as of now as you have always helpful here.
- Afrihost
- Just confirming. 🙂 I'll ask our network team to look into this for you. ^SP
- Daniel
- Alrighty, thank you very much. Should I logout the guest account you gave me and continue using my normal account?
- Afrihost
- Please do. 🙂 ^SP
- Daniel
- I have been speaking to a Twitch Network Engineer, he mentioned to me that I should ask my ISP if they can connect directly to twitch and the correct address to do a tracert is "live.twitch.tv" This is some information he provided to me http://i.imgur.com/sEr0VBc.png
- Afrihost
- I'll pass your recommendation onto our team, thanks. ^SP
- Daniel
- Not a problem, You are welcome. Would definitely be a huge selling point if you guys get a direct connection to twitch.
- Afrihost
- Absolutely. 🙂 ^SP
- MAY 9TH, 9:16PM
- Daniel
- Having issues with twitch again. Constant buffering on mobile quality.
- MAY 10TH, 7:45AM
- Afrihost
- Oh no. 😞 Are you streaming or broadcasting? ^V
- MAY 10TH, 11:31AM
- Daniel
- Streaming/ watching a stream on twitch. I would not be able to broadcast on twitch with a 500kbps upload.
- Afrihost
- There may be a chance that you are being throttled on your Home Uncapped package as the threshold of for a 4mbps Home Uncapped Package is 80GB on a 30 day rollover. You have used 154+ GB in the past 12 days. 😞 ^V
- Daniel
- Yeah, I use abit. My twitch is open 24/7. I should still be able to watch a stream on Mobile quality without it buffering though, even if it was getting shaped.
- Afrihost
- Hi Daniel 🙂
- Do you find any other streaming services be affected? ^D
- Daniel
- Youtube was also lagging for awhile during the same time frame last night yeah. Twitch seems fine now though too as I have no buffering on 360p or 480p.
- Afrihost
- Sounds good for the moment. I've taken a look into your account and I cannot see any visible errors. Please can you carry on monitoring and let us know if you experience any errors again. ^D
- Daniel
- Will do so, Thanks for the assistance.
- Afrihost
- MAY 10TH, 9:41PM
- Daniel
- Twitch lagging again on Mobile Quality, Youtube also taking awhile to load. Tried changing DNS and it did not help.
- MAY 11TH, 7:13AM
- Afrihost
- Sorry to hear that, Daniel. Did you see high latency during this time? How are things running this morning? ^SP
- MAY 11TH, 11:18AM
- Daniel
- Yeah I had high latency too. Twitch is fine again this morning. Watching on 480p with no buffering at all.
- Afrihost
- Are you only experiencing the issue on twitch? ^V
- Daniel
- Nope, last night I had issues with YouTube too.
- Afrihost
- So it just streaming applications? ^V
- Daniel
- Moslty, Had 300ms when I tried to play Overwatch last night too/
- Afrihost
- Hmmmm, that is not good! 😞 Do you know how to run a traceroute? ^V
- Daniel
- Yeah, will run one when I encounter the issue again
- Afrihost
- Awesome. 🙂
- MAY 12TH, 10:35PM
- Daniel
- Twitch is lagging again badly even on mobile quality. Here are 2 traceroutes. You can see latency on the highbridge node. http://i.imgur.com/imZB5c0.png

- That's horrible, Daniel. As far as I know there is not latency on the network at the moment. Could you please ping bras.afrihost.com so we can check if there is latency on your local Telkom infrastructure 😞 ^s
- MAY 16TH, 6:48PM
- Daniel
- Twitch lagging again this evening, was a little less worse last night. Again buffering on mobile quality. I have attached the ping to bras.afrihost.com and the ping looks fine. I have also attached the traceroute to live.twitch.tv
- Afrihost
- I've just reset your Uncapped account, can you please restart your modem quickly then test the connection again. ^E
- Daniel
- Will do so. Thank you very much 🙂
- Afrihost
- Thanks! ^E
- Daniel
- Seems alot better than before
- Afrihost
- That's good! Please keep an eye on it and let me know if there is any change. ^E
- Daniel
- Will do so, thank you for your assistance 🙂
- Afrihost
- No problem! ^E
- MAY 16TH, 8:42PM
- Daniel
- Started buffering again sadly
- Afrihost
- Could you maybe switch to this Test Account quickly to see how it compares:
- Username: afriguest@afrihost.co.za
- Password: hudyehrvg
- ^E
- Daniel
- I did a traceroute to live.twitch.tv and saw +100ms ping on top of the usual. I will attach both screencaptures. http://i.imgur.com/lGVImQX.png and http://i.imgur.com/rkeiJOW.png
- I will switch over accounts now
- Afrihost
- Thanks. ^E
- Daniel
- Seems good so far
- MAY 17TH, 7:16AM
- Afrihost
- Good to hear! 🙂 Give us a shout if you run into any other errors. 🙂 ^D
- MAY 17TH, 6:41PM
- Daniel
- This test account seems to be working perfectly so far
- Afrihost
- That's good to hear! Would you mind staying on it for now, I just want to make sure that you don't see any degradation in the next hour ro so. ^E
- Daniel
- Sure thing will do. Thanks
- Afrihost
- Thanks. ^E
- MAY 31ST, 8:56PM
- Daniel
- Twitch is lagging pretty often again, say every 10 seconds on mobile quality. Have tried both Google and your default DNS settings.
- Afrihost
- Which DSL account are you connecting with at the moment? ^E
- Daniel
- The test account I was previously given. Username: afriguest@afrihost.co.za
- Password: hudyehrvg
- Afrihost
- Aaaaah! Okay. 🙂 Can you please switch to your account and see how that compares. ^E
- Daniel
- I will do so, Thanks
- MAY 31ST, 10:05PM
- Daniel
- Seems to still be buffering
- JUN 1ST, 8:05AM
- Afrihost
- 😞 Not good at all. What do your speeds look like at the moment? Which web browser are you using? Chrome? ^E
- JUN 1ST, 11:13AM
- Daniel
- Speeds seem to be fine at the moment. Seems to always be in the evening at the same times. My messages being sent from here are always related to speed issues in the evening. I am using mostly Chrome but have tried Firefox too. Both 32bit and 64bit versions
- Afrihost
- 😞 It could be a congestion issue on the Exchange if it only happens during the evenings.
- Do you know if anyone else is complaining in your area. ^E
- Daniel
- I do not know anyone in the area who is also on the exchange. There is a office block that shares the same exchange as I do bit I encounter issues after the business has closed
- Afrihost
- The best way to figure out if it's congestion on the Exchange is to switch to this account:
- Username: ahtest@axxessafrica.co.za
- Password: socmed2015
- That accounts run on the SAIX DSL network, so it basically lets us eliminate ISP-related issues. ^E
- Daniel
- Perfect thanks a mil. Should I change to that account a little later then? Around the same time I usually experience issues?
- Afrihost
- Yes please! ^E
- Daniel
- Will do, Thanks very much. Enjoy the rest of your day
- Afrihost
- You to Daniel! ^E
- JUN 1ST, 9:02PM
- Daniel
- Seems to be ok on Mobile Quality (160p)/ 360p and above is always buffering even on this test account. My ping on Overwatch using the SAIX connection was +60ms too which wasnt good either.
- My overwatch ping is usually 200ms but on the SAIX connection it was 260 - 270ms
- I will continue monitoring it throughout the evening. Thanks
- JUN 2ND, 12:33AM
- Daniel
- Seemed to come right around 10pm. Buffering stopped around that time.
- JUN 2ND, 7:52AM
- Afrihost
- 😞
- It's definitely looking like congestion on the Exchange.
- How many people are using your internet connection at home during that period? ^E
- JUN 2ND, 10:21AM
- Daniel
- Just me at the time, I turn WiFi off while testing and only have one PC connected at a time. I'd expect the exchange to be confessed during business hours. Where as 6-10pm is closer to off peak.
- JUN 5TH, 11:22AM
- Afrihost
- Hi Daniel. Apologies for the late reply. 😞 How did your connection perform over the weekend? ^SP
- Daniel
- I wasn't at home the whole weekend so i'm unable to provide a proper answer. Know I changed back to my normal account on Saturday evening as I had issues. If there is congestion on the exchange would I not experience issues now as the businesses who share the exchange with me are currently open?
- Afrihost
- It really depends on how many people are trying to connect at any specific point in time. Congestion generally tends to be worse during the evenings. Please let me know how it runs again tonight. ^SP
- Daniel
- Will do so, Thanks a mil.
- Afrihost
- Anytime! 🙂 ^SP
- JUN 5TH, 8:37PM
- Daniel
- Streams buffering really badly again on mobile quality at the moment
- Using my normal afrihost account at the moment
- Afrihost
- Now is the perfect time to figure out if it is congestion on the Exchange.
- Can you please switch to this account quickly:
- Username: ahtest@axxessafrica.co.za
- Password: socmed2015
- ^E
- Daniel
- Will do so quickly
- Afrihost
- Thanks! ^E
- Daniel
- Nothing loads at all on that account, not even google/facebook. Almost as if the account has been capped or something. I'm using a test webafrica account now and have no problems what so ever
- Afrihost
- That's not good. Could you stay on that Web Africa account for 15 minutes or so. We just need to be sure that there is no degradation. ^E
- Daniel
- I will do so and let you know, Thanks a mil
- JUN 6TH, 6:57AM
- Afrihost
- Awesome. 🙂
- Daniel
- I used the Web Africa account for +- 30mins last night without any degradation.
- Afrihost
- Your tests definitely indicated congestion though... Perhaps you can send us some comparative test results with the WA account the next time this happens? ^SP
- JUN 6TH, 12:23PM
- Daniel
- Wouldnt the Web Africa account encounter the same congestion on the exchange? Regardless of which account I am using the same exchange will still be used.
- Afrihost
- It should yes, but from past experience if there is congestion it usually starts to drop off from 21h00, so it's possible that the speeds improved at that point.
- Can you remember from which point you started to see the speeds drop-off? ^E
- Daniel
- It was last night when I sent my message @ 20:37pm
- Afrihost
- Hmmm, that's pretty late. How was the connection over the weekend? ^E
- Daniel
- I wasn't at home the whole weekend so i'm unable to provide a proper answer. Know I changed back to my normal account on Saturday evening as I had issues. If there is congestion on the exchange would I not experience issues now as the businesses who share the exchange with me are currently open?
- Afrihost
- Most businesses don't use that much bandwidth as they are primary using mail services and some browsing.
- In the evenings when everyone starts to download and stream their services the Exchange is placed under a lot of load. ^E
- Daniel
- I suppose that is true. Is there any possibility that the exchange can eventually get extra nodes or bandwidth to stop this issue from recurring as it happens just about every evening and was the original reason that I upgraded. I had a 2mbps and upgraded to 4mbps connection and was told I would not experience anymore issues.
- Afrihost
- We can definitely follow-up on this with Openserve to find out if there are any upgrades planned in the area. ^E
- Daniel
- Awesome thanks a mil. I see an Openserve vehicle at the exchange every other day but do not see my area listed as a fiber enabled area as of yet. Is it possible that my area does have Fibre connectivity and they have not updated the area list yet?
- Afrihost
- It's more likely that they are busy connecting new DSL connections or busy upgrading existing connections. ^E
- Daniel
- Oh alrighty, I thought they dealt only exclusively with Fiber solutions, didn't know they did ADSL too. Thanks for the help.
- Afrihost
- No problem Daniel! 🙂 ^E
- JUN 6TH, 5:09PM
- Daniel
- Terrible buffering again now while trying to watch a stream at 160p. This is the traceroute done on my afrihost account - http://i.imgur.com/MGqbWNt.png
- This is the traceroute using the webafrica account - http://i.imgur.com/q22RRgl.png
- Definitely dont think it is a exchange issue as I would be experiencing issues with the webafrica account now too then
- Afrihost
- 😞 It looks like there is a network wide issue in the South, I'm getting an update from our Team. ^E
- Daniel
- Oh ok, that's unfortunate.
- Afrihost
- 😞 Yup. Definitely a top priority for us! ^E
- JUN 9TH, 8:23PM
- Daniel
- Once again i cant watch twitch without buffering. Crazy lag again on the network. I used my webafrica account once again and all is fine, definitely not a congestion issue on the exchange
- http://i.imgur.com/IhSEwoE.png
- Afrihost
- 😞 That latency looks pretty bad from the second hop already. 😞 Could you ping bras.afrihost.com quickly please. ^E
- Daniel
- Ping looks fine to bras.afrihost.com http://i.imgur.com/CXHqthk.png
- Afrihost
- The latency spiking to 65ms the first time you ran it isn't good though. 😞 ^E
- Daniel
- Suppose that is true
- Afrihost
- How do your speedtests look? ^E
- Daniel
- http://i.imgur.com/2s6Hwob.png
- Afrihost
- That speed is on the lower-end of what it should be. Do you know if there is anything else running on the connection? ^E
- Daniel
- Only my computer connected to the router and wifi is turned off, but yeah is 200kbps short of 500kbps
- Afrihost
- Are you getting similar speeds on the Web Africa account? ^E
- Daniel
- It's a tad higher than the Afrihost account but I experience no buffering on that account
- Afrihost
- Hmmm. Which Twitch stream are you watching? ^E
- Daniel
- Currently trying to watch https://www.twitch.tv/greekgodx But it happens on all streams I try and watch.
- JUN 10TH, 5:12PM
- Daniel
- Lagging again this evening on low quality using the afrihost account http://i.imgur.com/PsdzhK2.png
- JUN 11TH, 8:00PM
- Daniel
- And once again issues with lag this evening. Swop over to my Webafrica account and no issues. http://i.imgur.com/A7B9d2K.png I think it is time for me to swop over as this does not seem to be getting any better.
- JUN 12TH, 7:51AM
- Afrihost
- Morning Daniel. Both of your traces seem similar in nature. What quality settings are you using on Twitch? Are you experiencing similar issues when you access live content on Youtube, for instance? Is Twitch the only service you're experiencing trouble with? ^SP
- JUN 12TH, 8:21PM
- Daniel
- I was using the lowest quality options on twitch (160p) and it was still buffering. Youtube seemed fine, no issues at all.
- Afrihost
- Is this happening with all streams on Twitch? Or only certain ones? ^E
- Daniel
- All streams I try and watch.
- JUN 20TH, 7:15PM
- Daniel
- Twitch lagging again on Mobile Quality (160p) Switch over to my WebAfrica account and no issues 😕
- http://i.imgur.com/eZVZqJM.png
- Afrihost
- Seeing higher than normal latency on your 3rd hop. Please ping bras.afrihost.com and send me the result. ^SP
- Daniel
- http://i.imgur.com/4t2U4Xv.png
- Afrihost
- Your latency does seem a little erratic at times. Your fist hop in the ping test also indicated a spike that might be originating in the connection between your machine and your router. Are you connecting wirelessly? ^SP
- Daniel
- Nope, connect permanently to LAN
- Only my pc on the connection with wifi turned off
- http://i.imgur.com/EyqXGWT.png
- Afrihost
- Definitely seeing some issues early on in this trace. 😞 Do you know how to run a continuous ping? ^SP
- Daniel
- Yeah I do, What duration would you like?
- Afrihost
- The same ping to bras.afrihost.com. 🙂 Please let it run for a few minutes. ^SP
- Daniel
- https://pastebin.com/E36DU5aP
- Seems to have stopped buffering at the moment
- Afrihost
- Seems OK... Please run the test again when you experience problems. ^SP
- Daniel
- Will do, Thanks a mil 🙂
- Afrihost
- :) (y)
- Daniel
- Happening again at the moment. Running the ping as I type this. Getting alot closer to 30ms but nothing crazy from what I can see at the moment.
- Latency to broadcaster is usually around
- 15 seconds. In the picture you can see due to buffering it is at 70 second delay and still buffering. Will post ping results when they are completed http://i.imgur.com/aHU9a7k.png
- Afrihost
- Are you seeing similar issues on Live Youtube streams? ^SP
- Daniel
- I don't watch streams on Youtube. All the content is on Twitch. But Youtube is cached locally so I dont experience issues.
- Actually I do listen to a Live music channel that streams occasionally and don't experience issues
- Afrihost
- Youtube is indeed cached, which is why I'm primarily asking about live content. 🙂
- I can see that you're currently connected to your Afrigreen account. Please switch back to your primary Afrihost account and let me know how it goes. ^SP
- Daniel
- Yeah I'm connected to a Livestream on Youtube at the moment and i'm not experiencing issues. Doesn't Google traffic get higher priority on your network though?
- Afrihost
- We do our best to prioritize all traffic. 🙂 Please switch to your primary account and let me know. ^SP
- Daniel
- Switched over, still buffering. Doing ping test now
- Afrihost
- If you're still battling, please sign up for a free 1GB Capped test account and compare results. ^SP
- Daniel
- No buffering on the Capped Afrihost account
- JUN 21ST, 7:45AM
- Afrihost
- Streaming is highly prioritized on our network. Can you try with your uncapped account? ^N
- JUN 24TH, 9:05PM
- Daniel
- Been using my capped account the weekend. Constant buffering on friday evening and now again tonight. It's been everyday this past week now and still hasnt got any better
- Daniel
- This is me pinging bras.afrihost.com - https://pastebin.com/s9u7Xa19 and this is the tracert to twitch - http://i.imgur.com/yG76kXa.png I've been experiencing these issues for more than a year now.

- Morning Daniel
- Are you only experiencing issues to Twitch or are other services affected? ^D
- Daniel
- I was having issues with Twitch.
- Afrihost
- Can you confirm if any other services are affected by constant buffering? This will help us identify if this is an issue with Twitch only or something more general. ^D
- JUN 26TH, 11:28AM
- Daniel
- Some other streaming sites were having issues too loading at the time. I did not try using youtube
- Afrihost
- I've made some changes to the Uncapped data package. Can I ask that you test again tonight and if you do experience any issues please give us a shout so we can run through some troubleshooting while the problem is occurring. 🙂 ^D
- JUN 26TH, 2:12PM
- Daniel
- Awesome, I will do so. Thanks a mil
- Afrihost
- JUN 28TH, 9:38PM
- Daniel
- Your changes have seemed to make a huge difference. No issues since then at all. I'm even able to bump the twitch quality up a level. Will keep a tab on it but all good as of now. Thanks a million, greatly appreciated 😬
- JUN 29TH, 6:37AM
- Afrihost
- Hey only a pleasure Daniel! 🙂 Give me a shout if you ever run into any other errors. ^D
- JUL 19TH, 1:24PM
- Daniel
- Internet is lagging really badly again since last night. All streams have been buffering on 160p, When I play World of Warcraft my ping is spiking to 1000ms and youtube is also rather slow. Only my computer connected to the router and wifi is turned off.
- Afrihost
- Hi Daniel,
- There was an issue on our side last night and this would have affected those services you mentioned.
- Have you been able to test today? ^E
- Daniel
- Yeah I was still getting lag spikes on World of Warcraft and streams were still buffering when I sent the previous message
- Afrihost
- That's not good. I've just reset your DSL line and your DSL account, can you please restart your modem and then test the connection again. ^E
- JUL 19TH, 2:45PM
- Daniel
- Seems too be working again perfectly. Thank you very much for your assistance. Have a great day further
- Afrihost
- Thanks for the update.
- If there is any change, please let me know. ^E

- JUL 20TH, 7:19AM

- JUL 20TH, 10:12AM

- Im home, twitch is still lagging and i'm getting 700ms lag spikes on WoW again. Using Afrihost DNS
- Afrihost
- Are you seeing high latency on a speedtest? ^SP
- Daniel
- http://i.imgur.com/GLBbeDH.png I have a 4mbps connection
- Afrihost
- I just ran some resets. Please restart your router and test again. ^SP
- Daniel
- Will do
- Daniel
- Still spiking pretty badly, even facebook is taking long too load
- Daniel
- My connection speed is not going above 1.3mbps either
- JUL 21ST, 6:46AM
- Afrihost
- Morning Daniel! 🙂 How is your connection this morning? ^V
- SUN 9:31PM
- Daniel
- Incredibly slow connection and twitch constantly lagging along with youtube tonight. Speedtest - http://i.imgur.com/5Xwsz6S.png
- MON 9:37AM
- Afrihost
- Morning Daniel. Are you seeing similar results this morning? ^SP
- MON 2:02PM
- Daniel
- No problems since 4am this morning
- Afrihost
- Great! ^E
- MON 9:08PM
- Daniel
- Everything is pathetically slow again tonight? Why am I always having troubles on your network? I switch over to another ISP account and have no problems what so ever. Here is another speed test tonight, not even 1/4th of my connection speed http://i.imgur.com/p2Pjguy.png
- TUE 7:02AM
- Afrihost
- Could you please send me some comparative results when it happens again? ^SP
- WED 11:31PM
- Daniel
- Same issues once again last night and tonight. Here are comparative results. Getting near full speed on both Infrogro and WebAfrica accounts. Definitely your network giving me problems 24/7. Whenever I have issues I change over to another ISP and they stop. Here are all the speedtests, Twitch was lagging constantly last night and the night before. Afrihost - http://i.imgur.com/1WYmxFi.png Infrogrow - http://i.imgur.com/bPsX0sM.png and WebAfrica - http://i.imgur.com/Tg7jeNe.png . What are you going to do about this as I permanently have these issues and i'm always told to just troubleshoot the problem. On the odd occasion people reset my account and it works for awhile then I have issues again.
- 7:16AM
- Afrihost
- Please can you detail all of this in an email for me and send it to support@afrihost.com for me. Once you have done that please send me the reference ID and I'll hand this over the NOC Team for you. We'll also need to run a ping test and a traceroute test, are you familiar with these tests? ^V
- 10:18AM
- Daniel
- Yes I am familiar with them. I will do so. Thanks a mil
- Afrihost
- Anytime. 🙂 ^V
