PERSONALITY:

She is the epitome of extra, random and wacky, often making people question her sanity. She seems to be living in a reality of her own, often spacing out and saying and doing questionable things. Although she may seem like an airhead, she's actually quite smart, but sometimes she may be a little gullible. She's sassy, witty and has a good but wacky sense of humour, and sometimes has random mood swings in which she becomes the saltiest person alive. Even though she behaves like an absolute crackhead most of the time and weirds people out, her antics and aura is somewhat charming. She appears to be very bubbly, cheerful and animated, but that's far from the truth of who she really is. The happy-go-lucky her is mostly fake and is just a mask under which she hides her fear and sadness. She finds it difficult to depend on someone and ask for help, so getting her to open up isn't an easy task, but it's not impossible. Once she opens up she becomes very honest despite the convincing liar she is. She doesn't deal well with concern or affection being directed towards her and is often left frozen and speechless, and sometimes this period of silence is followed by a lot of confused and flustered blabbering.

BACKGROUND:

Hwamin used to be part of a kind and loving family until the age of six, when her beloved mother passed away, leaving her and her father in devastation and despair. Her father, once a respectable man and caring father, couldn't bear the loss of his wife and turned to alcohol as his only solution. He became a hopeless, aggressive drunkard who took out all his frustration and anger on Hwamin, both verbally and sometimes physically. The family quickly fell apart and Hwamin continuously avoided her father within their own house. At school she would pretend as if everything were okay, laughing and smiling with everyone else. Deprived of the shadow of guidance of her only parent, 16-year-old Hwamin soon fell under the wrong influence and began a life involving drugs, just to forget about her pitiful reality and actually feel happy for once. But after two years, word spread of her drug use in school and her reputation and social life was badly affected. This caused her to accept help from a teacher of hers who was kind enough to finance indivisual therapy sessions for her to recover. These sessions went on for a few months until she ended up in Wonderland.

LIFE BEFORE:

At home, she'd spend her time hiding from her father and ensuring that their path don't cross. But on some unfortunate days, they would and the outcome was never good. At school, she would pretend to be a bright, cheerful and friendly girl, though she would everyone at arm's length. When news about her drug use spread, she became a little more quiet and started avoiding certain people at school, making sure to keep a low profile. But she still acted as if her mistreatment at school didn't bother her much. When she accepted help from her homeroom teacher, Kang Jihyun, she would often hang out with her after school. If Jihyun wasn't busy, she'd drive her to the institute where Hwamin was seeking recovery. Or they would go to a park or cafe and casually spend some time together.

When the new of her drug use spread across school, many students and teacher began to look at her and treat her with distaste and disgust. Some even went as far as mocking her or calling her out for it. Many teachers and parents labelled her a 'bad influence' and she was largely ignored and avoided, and this all hurt her a lot. She's afraid that if the people around her get to know of her history with drugs, they too would begin to treat her differently.

RELATIONSHIP PROGRESSION:

Beginning - They don't like each other, but for the sake of getting out of there, they decide to put aside their differences and work together. Hwamin acts as her 'normal' crazy self, which Minho would often judges her nonstop for, and Minho's constantly irritated and done with her, though he tries to keep his mouth shut most of the time.

Middle - They get along a little more, and both start having normal conversations. They both develop feelings of concern towards each other which they (especially Minho) try not to show, though there's no romantic attraction. Minho slowly starts seeing past her facade and is determined to find out more, while Hwamin tries to get him to soften and open up a bit, and both are slightly successful. Minho starts developing feelings for her, and becomes a little jealous and protective of her, often confusing Hwamin.

End - Towards the end, they've mostly opened up to each other and both have mutual feelings towards each other, which become apparent soon enough. Due to their differing personalities, both have their own ways of showing their affection but they behaviour towards each other doesn't change much.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

Him: He thinks she's weird, loud and annoying, and is nearly convinced that she ran away from a mental asylum.

Her: The first thing she notices is that he's quite handsome, but when she registers his words and his annoyed expression, she thinks that his rude and irritable attitude overshadows his looks and doesn't like him.

HOW DID THEY MEET:

When Hwamin woke up, she started freaking out and ran as fast as she could trying to find an exit. As she hurriedly turned a hallway, she nearly crashed into someone and screamed, jumping back into a weird karate stance and screaming threats while swinging her hands wildly. Minho, being that someone, tried dodging her hands and eventually grabbed her wrists to stop her, while yelling at her to shut up and calm down. Definitely the best first impression.

- There's an awkward silence and Hwamin tries to break it and says a random pickup line. Minho turns to her and asks, "Are you a painting?" and she confusedly replies with no and he says, "'cause I want to hang you."

- She sees a huge bug or something and starts screaming and jumps into Minho's arms, causing them both to fall and almost crushing Minho's rib-cage.

- She starts crying once, maybe when she's opening up about her past, and Minho, being the awkward potato he is, mentally starts panicking and doesn't know what to do. First he awkwardly pats her shoulder but eventually pulls her into an embrace and comforts her until she stops crying. It's all cute and sweet until Hwamin smiles and tells him she got snot all over his shirt, making him complain in disgust while abruptly pushing her away.
