一 BACKGROUND
EunBi was, is, a twin. The youngest twin. Her sister’s name is EunMi. Growing up, they were the best of friends and always got along and their parents enjoyed having children that didn’t argue that much. However, around the age of 10, EunBi’s twin sister distanced herself; she found new friends and ignored her younger sister. Her parents saw EunBi’s twin as ‘perfect’ and a ‘golden child’ who could do no wrong, who was intelligent, kind and talented. EunBi was none of those things. She’ll never be able forget her father continuously scolding her for not meeting his very high expectations and being hit for getting the littlest thing wrong. That was the first time in her life she had truly been afraid of something or someone. Yes, kids are always scared of silly things like clowns, or heights or the dark but nothing is able to compare to the fear of your own parent; waking up everyday in fear that today might be your last under a roof with someone to provide for you. For EunBi, at least. Of course, her sister and mother were fully aware of this but they were intimidated by her father too much to try and help her. She was lost and had no one, or nowhere, to turn to. At school, she was just known as ‘EunMi’s Sister’ and was only spoken to when people wanted to speak to her about her sister, who she didn’t even interact with herself. As much as she didn’t want to, she slipped and fell into a depression. Well, that’s what she thought; she hadn’t been professionally diagnosed because she hadn’t told anyone because she was afraid of not being took seriously. Days passed and nothing changed for her. EunBi had had enough and was prepared for it to end. It was a Saturday night she had planned for it to happen. It all seems like a blur to her now, but she can still somewhat vividly remember taking all the pills she could find and throwing up endlessly, she was lucky that her sister had found her. She was took to the hospital and was treated there, her family was shocked but then vowed to her that they would make things better and get her better treatment. She didn’t want that. She didn’t want to get ‘treatment’ and for people to treat her like she was insane - even if it was the only was she could get better and recover. Because of that, the night before her dischargement, she managed to convince a young nurse to let her go for a midnight walk. EunBi packed all of her belongings that she had in the hospital in her small backpack and went off to the villa, where she now lies about her age, saying that she’s 19, just so she can have a roof over her head.
