  1. Hey guys! As we get closer to move in day, it's time to start packing. Here's the ultimate packing list! DO NOT OVERPACK! DO NOT OVERPACK! DO NOT OVERPACK! (Last year, I ended up with almost 20 pairs of shoes and waaaayyy too many hoodies, so please learn from my mistake.)
  2. Bedding:
  3. (I recommend tj maxx or marshalls)
  4. Mattress pad (preferably memory foam - not a must but highly recommended if you can)
  5. Sheets (at least 2 sets)
  6. Comforter
  7. Pillow
  8. Blanket
  9. Clothes:
  10. Lots of underwear!!! (comes in handy when you need to do laundry but all the machines are taken)
  11. Pants (don't pack too many pairs of them though. You can always bring different ones after break)
  12. Shorts (optional, maybe no more than 2 pairs. It starts off hot and gets cold quickly)
  13. Shirts (long and short sleeve - 2 weeks worth)
  14. Hoodies/Jackets (3-4 max lol. One of those should be a heavier jacket/coat for later in the term. Also rain coat)
  15. Winter coat (Waterproof/weatherproof snow coat. Columbia and North Face have nice ones and offer student discounts. If that's out of your price range, check for deals on eBay!*)
  16. Long johns/long underwear (only necessary for winter term, great for layering - I recommend the brands 32 degrees and under armour)
  17. Shoes (LOLOLOL - sneakers, casual shoes, SHOWER SHOES [absolute must], snow boots. I would limit shoes to about 5 pairs)
  18. Recreation clothes (3-5 outfits)
  19. *I am really good at finding deals on eBay. If you need help, I'm available!
  20. Buy here at Target/order online (most of these are optional but make your room more comfortable):
  21. Laundry hamper or bag
  22. Detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets (you really only need the detergent. I don't recommend the laundry pods. Stick with liquid)
  23. Lamp
  24. Bowls, plates, cups, mugs, forks, spoons, knives
  25. Coffee maker (electric kettles are awesome!)
  26. Tapestries
  27. String lights
  28. Area rug
  29. Mini fridge (there's a communal fridge as well)
  30. Storage containers
  31. School supplies
  32. Laptop (it's fine if you don't have one. There are plenty of computers available for student use)
  33. Bike, scooter, etc.
  34. Snacks
  35. Notes:
  36. Keep in mind that you can buy a lot of things at target, and you will probably acquire more items during the year (the Mall of America is 45 minutes away). If you are planning to go home during breaks, you can bring other things that you discover you need the following term or buy them here. You can also mail things to yourself. The address is:
  37. Your name
  38. 300 North College Street
  39. Northfield, MN 55057
  40.
  41. LOL totally forgot all about toiletries! Toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, washcloths (a week or two's worth), towels (2-3), loofah/body sponge, face soap (if you use that), SHOWER SHOES, SHOWER SHOES, SHOWER SHOES, and shower caddy. Ok, I think I'm done now.
