  1. Chapter 1
  2.
  3. Dear reader,
  4.
  5. It seems few words can describe how i feel writing these tales of my friend and my king. I don't wish to keep you but I must also tell everything from his rise to the end. I believe this is all i can do before joining him once more in a grander court of our gods. I would wish to tell you more tales but alas i have not the time to tell it. My time fades quickly now i have made many enemies over the years, always must blood be paid with blood as i have seeked. In the end i shall stand till the end. It is what we agreed many years ago.
  6. "When life is fading but not yet lost bring forth onto our blades, death, be it quick for those who dare and slow for those who dreamt. May Elash pass his judgement through my blade and may Aliri guide them".
  7. That is where we shall start. May the truth of many dark years brighten a darkened and troubled land.
  8.
  9. Kindest of regards,
  10.
  11. Friend to the last king.
  12.
  13. Isaac Luzader
  14. Chapter 2
  15. It was the end of fall the ground had turned hard in the cold. The air was a thick fog but the beating of drums was still as loud but even more daunting. The beat grew louder as the morning went on the fog slowly clearing as if dispersed from the vibrations in the air. Dew settled on the grass dampening the ground some.
  16. Looking out the window Isaac could see a great army almost six thousand strong stood in the empty fields. It was a miracle they had not been found. Isaac lived with his mother on the outskirts of a forest. As a herbalist and nurse to travels and a few soilders he had never met they kept to themselves.
  17. On the cusp of the fields which lead to the city a darkness covered it now. Looking intently Isaac saw the kingdoms army rising over the edge and up to face the stationary army. They were out numbered three to one. But this rarely matter the king was indeed legendary when it came to tactics. As the army stopped in the field three hundred yards away they waited now unmoving and unflinching. Isaac saw one man at the back of the army waiting, Isaac had no idea what was about to happen.
  18. The attacking army let out a thundering beat now getting fast and fast then it stopped and silence pierced the morning.
  19. An eruption of movement followed as the wild attackers advanced quickly. The king's army remained unmoved.
  20. An unwavering presence eminated from the two thousand men.
  21. Two hundred yards. One hundred and fifty yards. One hundred yards.
  22. The men lowered there gaurds in unison. Fifty yards.
  23. A single word rang out. 'Hold'
  24. Isaac saw the man at the back wave a flag.
  25. The armies met and the attackers crumpled on the shields and spears. The army held a second wave of men followed, pushed forward by a third.
  26. Again the army moved as one pushing the attackers back ane then spears flew out cutting through the front line. A number of arrows launched from the back row. It was unparalleled in execution in Isaac's eyes.
  27. Now the groud shook a rumble of thunder rolled over the fields low and distant.
  28. Isaac looked to the skies, they were clear and blue. The thunder continued louder the house vibrating.
  29. Cresting the hill another dark form emerged faster and deadlier.
  30. Calls came from the army now. Isaac couldn't make them out but the army responded instantly.
  31. The front line pushed the approaching attackers back onto their fallen brothers, backing up all but an inch. The next call rang out.
  32. The men parted into four groups opening alleyways through the middle. The men at the back dropped to one knee a wave of movement as all followed suit. The shields at the front dropped holding the shield in place on the ground. Ever man had his head down and not a single person moved as the cavalry exploded through the breaks in the army three horses wide they flew through with precision.
  33. The cavalry hit the attacking army and devastation was brought upon them unlike anything Isaac had seen before.
  34. Having cut the six thousand strong army in half the cavalry continued with their momentum. Only the left flank broke away at a fierce angle they turned and flew back into the remaining men this group was only about two hundred of the thousand cavalry. They brought just as much destruction alone than with the grouped cavalry. They were the precision cavalry. They flew between the scattered army delivering swift mounted death. Upon reaching the other side of the army they reformed to a column three men across and turned again and came to a stop behind the king's army. Few remained after the charge.
  35. Isaac scanned the fields now littered with bodies almost none walked away that day. One beast of a man stood in the centre of the field next to a horse, he had claimed one of the cavalry.
  36. He stood a monsterous mace in one hand bare chested he stood almost seven foot and was build like a bear. He roared at the army, his challenge accepted. The king stepped forward and was met by a member of the cavalry. He dismounted having spoken with the king briefly he walked out to the waiting man.
  37. A single long sword in hand, a dagger sheathed at his side.
  38. He reached the man and their fight began the mace flew through the air and was dodged. Swift movements followed the man shifted his feet and swung his sword it glinted as it moved towards the mans neck at the last second he dropped low avoiding a vicious reverse swing of the mace. With a graceful move the sword sprung up cutting the man from waist to shoulder. As the man fell to his knees a final swing removed his head.
  39. With that the army bowed their heads for their loss turned and started to return leaving a small group to finish any still twitching bodies.
  40. Chapter 3
  41. Having finished with the remaining bodies two men walked towards the house. Isaac's mother appeared behind him she spoke quickly he did as she asked he was still young he was powerless.
  42. Through the cracks in the room door he saw the two men and his mum the sounds he heard. The table breaking. His mothers screams. He didn't move as she said the sun was setting now the two men left his mother crumpled on the floor naked and bruised. She crawled to her room and washed herself again and again until she passed out. Isaac picked up a towel and dried her body he dragged her as gently as he could to the bed and covered her in a blanket. His eyes had lost some colour that day. The once bright blue a sharper darker blue he knew their faces it was engrained etched into his mind. He sat back to the wall of his mothers door. He didn't move he just stared into the night.
  43. Enjoy the read
