  1. Lilac sat on the floor by a round table in a cafe. The drinks here were pretty overpriced but Lilac thought it the calm and quiet atmosphere was worth it. On the table were hundreds of pieces of colorful glass divided into three groups of color: warm, cool, and dull. The fox’s nimble paws took to organizing the bits of glass even further. The dull colors were becoming the growing roots of a bigger picture and the warm and cool colors were being selected and discarded according to an algorithm only in Lilac’s brain.
  2. The unknown scene being built was suddenly frozen in place and time as the purple-tipped fox stood up, not standing any taller than a young teen. Her ears and tail bounced and swayed slightly as she trotted over to the counter of the store.
  3. “Hello, how can I help you this morning?”
  4. “May I please get an iced caramel coffee? And, uh, one of these.” She pointed to a chocolate covered cookie behind the glass. Lilac handed the over some money and waited for the cashier to hand her the cookie. She took the bag and walked back over to where she was sitting while she waited for her drink to be made. She pulled the round chocolate treat out of the bag and grasped it. The chocolate coating around it was very thick and it felt very hard. Lilac was still planning to eat the cookie but she had thought up another use for it...
  5. The small fennec had centered a large piece of red glass in front of her on the table. She grabbed the cookie in both paws and lifted it upwards. Suddenly, the shatter of glass could be heard throughout the entire cafe as Lilac struck the glass with the cookie.
  6. The sound caused a couple of concerned stares and a murmur of “what was that?” within the small shop. Lilac pretended to ignore the fuss.
  7. *It’s fine.* She told herself in an attempt to chase away her self-consciousness. She nervously glanced around and stood up to grab a napkin. She rubbed the cookie with the napkin to get any possible remains of glass off of it.
  8. She cracked off some of the now broken shell of the cookie and gnawed on it as she proceeded to make her art.
  9. The dull-colored structure grew into the form of sharp branches on which the other pieces will build upon to make their form.
  10. As the glass pieces were arranged it mirrored the growth of an actual tree. Lilac placed green and warm pink pieces around the branches to form colorful leaves. The leaves grew and grew until the tree was absolutely covered in these leaves, making the earlier barren tree look quite grand.
  11. The girl moved her paws to add specs of glass around the tree to add a bit of a background. The bottom of the image containing glass of various shades of brown and red and orange which faded to the various dull blues at the top of the image.
  12. Her little project was complete. What a beautiful scene.
