  1. Since I still see people to this very day having issues with trying to get CM3D2 to work, I've decided to make this not-so-quick start guide that should work 100% for anyone and everyone that wants to play.
  2.
  3. First thing's first...
  4.
  5. 1. Change your system language locale to JAPANESE. (---THIS IS IMPORTANT---)
  6.
  7. Not setting your system locale to Japanese is usually the main culprit as to why users can have issues with not getting the game to work properly. Make sure that you have your locale set to Japanese before proceeding any further. It should be very easy to set by simply checking your OS' Region & Language settings.
  8.
  9. >"What about using a locale emulator like AppLocale or NTLEA? All the guides I've read tell me to use those..."
  10.
  11. NO. DO NOT. STOP THAT. Fuck AppLocale. Fuck NTLEA. Fuck any guide that tells you to use a Locale emulator for any reason ever. Switching your OS locale to Japanese will allow your entire system to properly display and READ Japanese text, which is required since the game will need to read filenames and directories in Japanese. This will also allow you to properly extract files and mods with Japanese text as well, otherwise you'll end up extracting said mods with corrupted gibberish text.
  12.
  13. Since you're most likely going to be using a Sybaris setup to get the game running, another reason you're going to need to change your locale is because only using locale emulators will only work on the game's exe while ignoring hooked plugins, which will definitely invites more errors.
  14.
  15. It may be a pain in the ass to have to switch between system locales just to play, but it must be done. Just be sure to set your other programs language to English specifically instead of "default" if you don't want certain programs to come up with JP text (most of your programs will still be set to your default language, though.)
  16.
  17. Seriously, it -MUST- be done. Switch your damn system locale to Japanese.
  18.
  19. Now that that's out of the way.
  20.
  21. 2. Download the base game. (Mega DL: https://mega.co.nz/#!9M1EgKjA!PGEr3GejU4ZpRKRzW3B6fCRrhDh60OkQBA40LkBApGA - Torrent magnet link: http://mgnet.me/csVmdGX)
  22. 3. Use an iso virtual drive like Daemon Tools or Windows 10's virtual drive option to mount the game.
  23. 4. Install the game. (Use this as a reference if you need help: http://wiki.anime-sharing.com/hgames/index.php?title=Custom_Maid_3D_2/Technical_Help#Installing_the_Game)
  24. 4a. (Optional) - Run the game once to make sure that it's working. Check to see if you can create a new game file and a new maid without any issues.
  25. 5. Download CM3D2 patch v1.00 -> 1.12 from http://kisskiss.tv/cm3d2/update.php - Install it.
  26. 6. Download CM3D2 patch v1.12 -> 1.52 (or latest version, either 32 or 64-bit depending on your preference) from http://kisskiss.tv/cm3d2/update.php - Install it.
  27. 6a. (Optional) - Run the game again here to make sure that it's working.
  28. 7. Download and install official DLC patches or expansions (Recommended downloads: ACT2 + ACT3 Expansions) - https://mega.nz/#F!fpgFAbaS!9uUPXC-TeU7vJgMVh7YS2w
  29. 8. Download and extract the "Sybaris Starter Pack 1.52.rar", Follow the instructions inside - https://mega.nz/#!XFJUQAjL!G2GMTKUt2XGCo94Q3SII5Ki02u1LtMEECyCa9QrEr-g
  30. 9. Add all the extra mods/presets/translations you want into their proper folders within the Sybaris folder (Note: Some mods may require certain DLC patches in order to work.)
  31.
  32. And that should be it. If you followed everything to a T, your game should be running with no issues. There's a ton of mods and DLC you'll need if you want to get your furry maids looking the way they do in the /trash/ threads, but again that's all on you to find and/or discover. To get you going, however, here's a furry starter pack including a base kemono faces, ears, tails and more: Furry starter pack: https://mega.nz/#!ZhxDXAxT!ylfd0wlmv5Okpv0YmkY0QYAm4uuCMJQHPA2e44roS44
  33.
  34. Other than that: Learn how to use the international mod list. Search Hongfire. Search the trash archives. Search the /vg/ archives. Search the /h/ archives. Search Twitter with #CM3D2 hastag. Search MotiMoti3D. Always try to search and look around a bit before asking for assistance, because chances are that what you're looking for might be easier to obtain than you think.
