JIYA is extremely broken. her personality has been shattered, there's a shell of a terrified human being left. she's a typical ptsd sufferer, and once it was left untreated, she suffered a great deal more.

quiet already from being told to "shut up" most of her life, she gets quieter when meeting new people - wary that they'll never be as they seem, always trying to read people to make sure they can be trusted. one lie or one betrayal, and her faith in someone disappears. she's extremely alert, too afraid or scared to let herself be harmed by anything - she has insomnia, and rarely sleeps because she's too terrified (the amount of times she's been put to sleep by scientists and they've messed with her mind is scarring).

she's a relatively kind person to those she trusts, though initially cold at the first meeting, she'll warm up just the slightest once she trusts you. friendship and love to her are practically built on faith, and are easily lost - it takes a while for her to class someone as a friend and even longer for a lover (though she's a little confused as to what love is really like, the poor thing). she's pretty child-like, she never got the chance to properly "grow up" while she was at the lab.

she has frequent hallucinations and panic attacks, often crying hysterically during the night, it isn't something she can control. she can get irritable, and often needs time alone - though not for long, she yearns for company filled with loveable people that will care for her and make up for what she lost in the past. she's very obedient, and does things when asked, usually without question - though she starts questioning things more after getting free from "the labs" as she calls them.

she is terrified of being confronted by anything or anyone, quick to run away when she can. she cannot get the hang of meeting new people, it's a social skill she was never introduced to. she is incredibly quiet, and only talks when necessary, often giving off the "must protect" vibe.

JIYA was born in mumbai to her parents, who moved to seoul when she was two for her mother's job with EDEN. they struggled a lot, financially and culturally - they didn't know the culture of the country or the language. her father stayed at home to take care of her, though both her parents found put about her POWERS, and knowing she was a DEVIANT, kept her out of harms way - especially from her mother's job. EDEN took her away when she was five, to try and get her to be fit for their project. on her memory is usually limited to the torture she went through at the labs, so she currently doesn't remember much about her parents.

after they took her in, they grew suspicious of her mind reading powers, they quickly switched to experiments. going through experiment after experiment, she was scarred. the mental pain they caused her was scarring, and even during her time there she was a typical ptsd sufferer, but no one cared. she was hidden away from the rest of the world, kept under lock and key because she was a mistake, a trainee they took in and failed to recognise she was one of them, a DEVIANT. if this came put publicly, the whole company would be put to shame. her mother was promptly fired and she never saw her parents again, not that she got to after they took her anyway.

they put her up to the program, offering her little choice. it didn't matter, she wanted to do this. it was an opportunity to see the outside world she had longed to see once again, and the horrors that awaited within it. she had no remaining memories of it, and longed to see it, but dreaded it at the same time.

• SHRUTI SINHA [ 50 ] : MOTHER. (0/10 closeness) after being taken away from her when she was little, she doesn't remember anything about her. all she knows after being told things is that her mother is out there, mourning the loss of her daughter. JIYA doesn't want to go looking for her, she doesn't know anything about her.
• YUVRAJ SINHA [ 54 ] : FATHER. (0/10 closeness) she doesn't know anything about her father either, and has been told nothing about him. she has no memories of him, and her mind is to preoccupied to even think about her parents.

• she respects JEONGGUK'S courage, and she wishes she could be like that, she wishes he wasn't so reckless, though. he's young, she kind of respects him in a brotherly fashion.
• YOONGI and JIMIN are people she sort of dislikes, JIMIN because he manipulates people so easily, and YIONGI because what he gets up to scares her.
• she can kind of relate to TAEHYUNG, she understands his pain - sort of.
• HOSEOK makes her laugh; and she likes that. it's nice to her how he stays so jolly, especially after his past.
• SEOKJIN is someone who gains her trust quickly, and he's extremely kind towards her.

• CATACLYSM makes her feel utterly terrified. how can someone love violence so much? they strike JIYA as pretty heartless, and it's hard to put trust in them.
• DIVINITY'S sermons and naive repitions of the teachings of EDEN do JIYA'S head in. half the time she wants them to shut up, and half the time she wants to just listen. maybe their actions towards her were justified? it's a stupid thought, but she takes comfort in it.
• OBLIVION is someone she kind of feels pity for, she talks to them a lot and they kind of get on - JIYA really doesn't mind her.
• BADLANDS is someone she favours. the mystery shrouding her means that she doesn't have to think too much to trust them. their need for knowledge is admirable, sort of. BADLANDS is a mystery JIYA wants to be the first to crack.
• DOOMSDAY is someone she just finds hard to talk to personally, she doesn't know why. maybe it's the pessimism.
• BATTLE CRY kind of scares her too, why did she have to attack people to prove her point? their strong, loud personality is overwhelming to her.

• ONION PAKORAS : one of the only memories from her childhood, the pakoras her mother used to make her. she may not remember her mum, but she remembers this heavenly food.
• THE COLOUR MINT BLUE : another memory from her childhood, it was the colour of her room when she was five.
• BOOKS : they wouldn't let her read much, but they gave her a book or two for some experiments, she loved them - she hated the tests.
• 'WISHING FLOWERS' : introduced to her by DIVINITY (who told her that her wish would be granted if she blew the dead dandelions seeds into the wind), she's been wishing and wishing for a better life ever since she found them, convinced her wish will come true. hopefully it might.
• SLEEPING PILLS : though they have little affect on her, she mainly likes the concept of them - a little weird, but she likes them. they don't put her to sleep, only make her feel a little drowsy and dull the hallucinations - which are usually quite vivid. she's grateful for that, weirdly.

Dislikes ( min. 5, give explanation as to why ):
• PEOPLE : she's scared of them, too many of them have betrayed her in the past.
• MOST ANIMALS : she's never seen most of them before, apart from puppies. being as wary as she is, she usually hides from them and observes their behaviour. her DEVIANT powers don't extend to animals.
• THE COLOUR WHITE : the colour of the "scientists"' lab coats. she tends to lean towards brighter colours she's never seen before, so she can associate brighter memories with them.
• GOD : she doesn't outright express her hate, but she gets irritable after listening to DIVINITY'S sermons. "god helps all" - what lies, he didn't save her when she was in so much pain.
• CURSE WORDS/SWEARING : she's been called terrible things in her life, and she hates hearing them - whether it's directed at her or at someone else.
• BEING ALONE : this one isn't severe, she honestly doesn't mind it when she needs alone time, but usually she prefers being in the company of trustworthy people.
• LOUD NOISES : they hurt her ears, her nightmares are filled with screaming and pain, and she loathes it.
• SILENCE : she hates loud noises but she cannot stand silence, she needs some buzz of sound in the room. silence is terrifying and she's petrified of it.

• BITING HER NAILS : she usually bites them right down to the edge of the skin, it's usually when she's scared, which is often.
• WETTING HER LIPS WITH SPIT : she was thirsty and pretty underfed during her time with EDEN and the experimenting, she wets her lips with spit when they're dry, often ignoring the need for water in her mouth.
• EATING CHOCOLATE : the sweet treat she was exposed to after being let loose into the outside world made her yearn for more of it. it's so good to her!

Hobbies:
• LISTENING TO MUSIC : again, she prefers classical. she'll listen to it whenever she can, even though the 2017 style of pop music is weird to the others, it's the first style she was exposed to.
• READING : she'll read every book she gets her hands on, she never had that freedom during the tests.
• COLOURING : like i said, she's pretty childish, colouring is good fun to her. although the colours never match what they should be (who can blame her? she doesn't know what it looks like).

Trivia:
• she gets pretty bad cravings on her period, they were never satisfied when she was being experimented on, though.
• she understands hindi but cannot speak it very well at all.
• she can speak basic conversational hindi and she can speak korean.
• she cannot drive, of course she can't.
• she calls her people observing "scanning" because scientists used to "scan" her brain to find out more about her.
• she doesn't get the concept of nicknames, she doesn't get the concept of calling anyone anything but their given name.
• she knows a little about neuroscience, she overheard plenty of conversations when she was being experimented on.

• PEOPLE READING : she began to associate more feelings with expressions, and developed her knowledge of it.
• SENSING PROBLEMS : her naturally anxious personality makes her quick to notice change and detect problems, she gets even sharper after being set a task.
• PEOPLE SKILLS : this isn't necessarily good, but i'm putting it here because it definitely develops throughout the story. she gains a lot of insight on people when she goes into the outside world.

Hopes & Dreams: she just wants a good life, a normal life. she wants to live in normal society, develop herself and hopefully get used to the world. she wants a family, people she can love and trust.

Morals:
• TRUST : probably the most important to her, she believes that you should be able to trust someone before you get to know them. she takes betrayal quite badly.
• KINDNESS : after being treated like dirt in the past, she wants to treat everyone else the opposite. she wants to be nice to people, though that's hard when you can't trust them.
• COMPASSION : she relates a lot to other's personal suffering, and though she doesn't seem like it - she'll listen to anything.
• HONESTY : another big value to her, she cannot stand someone lying or backstabbing her.
• COURAGE : something she believes in, but fails to fulfill. she respects people who have a whole load of it a lot.

Opinions on Eden: she's still unsure of what they do - all she knows is that they treated her badly, and after being told that she didn't deserve it by the DEVIANTS and CATACLYSM, she's more sided against them. she's the one who understands them least, even though she's had the most experience with them.

Love Interest personality:
he's the lost, wandering type. often absorbed in his thoughts and unable to let go of them, he's quite hard to talk to in the first place. he doesn't know where he comes from, he doesn't know anything about himself - just what is his purpose, what is he meant to be? the questions often plague him to no end and make him frustrated, though that's unusual.

usually relatively calm on the outside, his mind is chaotic and in a million different places at once. he's quite happy around people he doesn't know, but gets frustrated a lot - his precognitions plague him and his past is hard to remember. he's a nice guy, leaves a good impression on everyone he meets. his past is confusing, and it makes him confused too. he's smart enough, but he isn't extremely clever, he sometimes doesn't catch onto things. he's funny and he gains everyone's trust easily.

he has a good temper, and he's quite patient with himself and others. he puts others needs before his most of the time. he's got thin skin, he takes criticism hard, and he isn't the most fun person to talk to. he doesn't have any interesting memories to talk about, mainly because he doesn't have any memories at all. he gets flustered easily, and is relatively disorganised, which doesn't help with that.

How do they meet:
she's sitting on a park bench after being sent to 2017, drinking some newfound (to her, at least) coffee and observing people walking by. word's got to her that a DEVIANT is nearby, and she's searching for them. it's draining her, and she's tired, but she's breaking into people's minds as they walk past, trying to get information that signals that they're a DEVIANT.

SEOKJIN is walking past, looking almost distressed, and JIYA tries hard to break into his mind, it's a little difficult, but all she finds is... nothing. there's nothing in his past to dig up, his mind is only filled with frustration at something. JIYA is hesitant, but decides not to follow him. he is out of her life, at least, until he walks over and sits down next to her, immersed in his phone. that's when she musters up the courage to say "hello".

Interactions/Trivia ( how they act around each other, first impressions, things they do together, etc. ):
• HIS 1ST IMPRESSION : he found her strange, no random stranger had ever said hi to him before. he was suspicious, but he tentatively replied to her, growing evermore cautious as he started talking. it was then he realised she was harmless, at least to him she was.
• HER 1ST IMPRESSION : she never expected him to say hello back, she tried making basic conversation with him, and pretty much failing - trying to dig up secrets from his mind simultaneously. nothing, she found blank memories, it was like his mind was a canvas, waiting to be filled - maybe it's previous art was erased.
• THE WAY HE ACTS : he grows to become the slightest bit fond of her, she's almost cute - how little she knows about the world. she makes him curious, what happened to her in the past?
• THE WAY SHE ACTS : he makes her flustered, the way he gets increasingly casual with her. it's a weird feeling, and putting trust into him is hard work - but she eventually is able to call him a 'friend'. he's there for her during unexpected moments, it's shocking how nice he is to her - she always had the impression (put into her by EDEN) that they were all evil.
• he introduces her to pop groups of the day, and exposes her to great literature - he helps her understand it all.
• because of her newfound love for coffee, they often go to cafes together and talk about things - though it's mainly him doing the talking.
• he teaches her things she never got to learn while she was with EDEN. though its a while before he finds out anything about her past.

How their relationship develops ( beginning, middle, end ):
• BEGINNING :
- HIM : he found her kind of strange, but he was curious - she kind of tempted him with her quirks. she was pretty much harmless, it seemed to him, and he was intrigued by her, he wanted to know more.
- HER : her sole purpose when getting to know him was to find information, find out whether he was a DEVIANT, and get over him. but he was too nice, he made her feel comfortable and get this tingling sensation in her stomach - it was weird but great.
• MIDDLE :
- HIM : he found himself wanting to meet her more and more, get to know her. why was she so... unaccustomed to life? why was she so intriguing?
- HER : she found herself getting butterflies more and more, and finding out more about him brought her closer to him, not further away.
• END :
- HIM : realising he loved her was a huge shock to him, he almost confessed, until she did.
- HER : she confessed after being told to let out her feelings, which she took pretty literally.

『 Anxious 』: she feels on edge most of the time, that's just who she is. she's wary of her surroundings and of everything - she'll burst out into a frenzy if anything triggers her in a bad way. she suffers from insomnia and cannot concentrate on one thing for a long time, she's just usually anxious - she can't help that.
『 Terrified 』: a series of whimpers and quiet gasps followed by uncontrollable shaking is how she usually reacts. she's the type to be paralysed with fear, often staying in one place until the danger is close - that's when she runs or does anything to stop herself from being harmed. she's used to nightmares and hallucinations, but cannot get the hang of how to react to them, leaving her scared, sweating and anxious.
『 Angry 』: she does get angry often, though she doesn't can't control it - it's her ptsd. when she's immersed in her past, she gets irritable and snappy. when she's angry normally, she'll usually hold it in, though it's pretty clear from her actions.
『 Sad 』: her sadness is prominent and frequent. since she cannot control her emotions too well, it's usually expressed with hysterical crying or even past that, plain silence and lack or expression (that's when you know she's broken).
『 Happy 』: she's the calm, slightly bubbly sort. she will never get hyper, she's not that kind of person - a lifetime of her emotions being restricted leaves her nothing to show. she'll smile a bit and laugh a little - but that's about it, she never lets go of herself, she's a little stiff. her guard doesn't go down even when she's feeling happy.
『 Guilty 』: she doesn't show much emotion, it's hard to catch her guilty for something. people having no remorse for what they'd done to her in the past has left her emotionless when she does things to people. she has had no exposure to people ever feeling guilty for something so she kind of lacks that feeling.
『 Disgusted 』: it's not the most obvious expression, but you can clearly tell. she makes a disgusted expression, which consists of raised eyebrows, a scrunched up nose and a scowl. she is kind of squeamish about these kind of things, and she doesn't enjoy watching or doing anything that's horrible to her.

What is your character's Achille's Heel (fatal flaw)?: HER PAST.
it's hard to forget it, it's part of her now - any reminders or triggers to her past set her off. she's been through a lot, and it's hard to get rid of it all. it sets off her ptsd, her hallucinations - and she can't handle it.

Write a quick scene that details your character's reaction to arriving in 2017:
she was flabbergasted. it made her feel scared and yet almost happy. she didn't know much about the time she was living in, except that science had developed a lot more, everything was new. the people were wearing different clothes to her teammates, she heard some mumbling phrases like "out of style" and "this was a thing?" everything was so, utterly new. the bustling of the streets, the liveliness in the city they were standing in. never had she seen so much happiness or such crowds in one place.

Write a timeline of how your character adapts to the timeline:
THE BEGINNING OF THE BENGINNG : shock, horror and excitement were the feelings that enveloped her. what a change! but how dangerous could it get?

THE MIDDLE OF THE BEGINNING : it was slowly starting to settle in, she adapted a lot better than the rest of them, who had much more experience with the time period they came from originally. it was then she realised how broken she was.

she can read people's expressions and know instantly how they're feeling. it's a little hard, but if she tries, she can break the barrier into their mind and get into their thoughts. she can also tell people the right things to extract information from them - it's only when she needs to expose someone that she does this.

she sometimes reads too much for her own good, people can sometimes sense when she's in their head and she can get called out for it. she sees too much - some things are just meant to be left unseen. this doesn't help at all, especially because she has enough of her own problems, adding on other people's makes her want to break.

EDEN wanted to make her one of their most successful fighters. she turned out to be a deviant, though why EDEN didn't kill her on the spot - she didn't know. she was put under countless experiments to try and figure out the source of her powers, all set to fail and drain her. she never knew the name for what she was, but she quickly found out after being selected as an EVE.

she uses it mainly undercover when they want to extract or find out information - her powers blend well and although it hurts her sometimes, she uses them well.

Them getting closer and more comfortable, getting curiouser about each other and eventually falling in love I guess omf.

she is timid, and extremely quiet - her saving the world seems like a huge plot twist. him doing it seems a little more likely, his character is developed enough, he has motive and passion. not to mention the experience!

Why did they volunteer for the simulation? Or were they forced? :
she was forced into it, but she did kind of want to do it. any way out of that hell filled with scientists and torture was good enough for her - not to mention, the adrenaline rush that came along with it was something she secretly enjoyed.

Are you okay with a "bad" ending and/or your character dying?:
i wouldn't mind it, but it isn't really preferred for me. it would be nice to see her develop throughout the story and progress with her personality as the story develops too.

Are you okay with your love interest dying?:
i'm actually okay with this, i love seokjin a lot - but i am a sucker for tragedy and lost loves, it's a chance to include more character development and plot twists.

Are you okay with your character being an antagonist?:
sure. even if she is a little reluctant to do so, i'm okay with that. she strikes me more as being a protagonist, but everyone sees her differently so definitely go ahead and do what you feel like doing!

Things you'd like to see from this applyfic:
• tragedy and action! i absolutely adore this and your story seems like the perfect one to include it!
• a spark of romance - this is truly beautiful, and honestly will melt my heart.
