  1. 1. When was the business established?
  2. March 1967
  3. 2. Who was the founder of the Polesworth Garage Ltd? Are they still involved in the business? If so, what is their role now? If not, were they bought out? Is there a new owner?
  4. Bill Newbold started the business as Newbold Enterprises Ltd, with the original site being at Fazeley. In 1969 the business moved to the current site, and shortly afterwards the name was changed. Bill remains Chairman of the business now, although does not have an active role in the day to day running of the business.
  5. 3. Was it first opened as an Ltd or as, for example, a sole trader/partnership?
  6.
  7. It was initially opened as a limited company
  8. 4. How many people are employed at The Polesworth Garage?
  9. 68 people are currently employed
  10. 5. What types of product do you sell? i.e. brand new/second-hand cars? Nissan only? Does the garage offer vehicle servicing etc?
  11. Brand new Nissan, although we can source brand new of any make, upon request. Over 300 second hand cars in stock, of all makes. We have a large Service Centre based at Amington, where we Service cars, and also have our Bodyshop division, and Parts department. We also have a Vehicle Recovery department, and Accident Management service ‘Polesworth Assist’. We also offer Car Hire, and have our own finance company ‘Polesworth Motor Finance’
  12. 6. In terms of pricing, do you view your products to be competitively priced or set at a premium?
  13. Competitively priced, whilst offering a service that others do not.
  14. 7. Who are your customers? i.e. private buyers from the local/surrounding area? Do you have loyal customers? How do you know? Do you sell to any other businesses?
  15. Mainly private, although we do have many businesses too. Many of our customers have had several cars from us, and return time after time. They come from a large area, although we have many local customers. With the internet we can sell further afield too. For example, this week we sold an all electric Nissan LEAF to a customer in London, who came up by train to collect.
  16. 8. Do the business premises meet the needs of the current scale at which you are operating? I.e. size of showroom, garage for servicing? Is there parking available for customers?
  17. The current is ok, although we would like to have all departments on one site. Currently Service is at Amington, and our Valeting department is another separate third site, at Kisses Barn Farm, Warton.
  18. There is parking for customers at Polesworth and Amington
  19. 9. Who are your main suppliers? Are they located close by?
  20. Main vehicle supplier is obviously Nissan, as it is for Parts also, but we also deal with a local company called Autoquip Midlands Ltd, for non-Nissan parts.
  21. 10. What methods of advertising do you currently use? Local newspapers/radio/posters/billboards/social media/website?
  22. Newspaper, TCR FM, Facebook, Website, Tamworth Football Club, Nuneaton Rugby Club
  23. 11. What promotional strategies do you currently use? Seasonal offers/ discounts/loyalty schemes?
  24. Special offers are important, but we do not do masses of them. We shy away from discounts, or ‘SALE’.
  25. 12. Who do you see as your main competitors?
  26. Everyone! Our nearest Nissan dealer, the internet, other manufacturers in Tamworth, and all the small second hand car dealers in the area. They are after our share of the market

  32. I bought an Astra vxr 1 year ago, it passed the MOT from Polesworth Garage, but only 2 months later the gearbox dropped out, this was covered by the 3 month warranty LUCKILY, then a year on the car fails its MOT test due to bad emissions, when i took it to another garage they told me it had no cat at all, how did it pass its emissions test originally when they sold me the car? I have been left with a huge bill which i cant afford, and i still have alot of money owed on the vehicle. I may just have to write it off as I cant afford the repair. I am still paying for it and still have around £10.000 owed on it. I feel so let down and misled.
