- Bored, so I'll type up an article about Smogon Ubers (Gen 6).
- Right now, Xerneas is at the top usage of Ubers Pokemon at over 70%. Since Ubers doesn't have a true banlist itself, there's no way we're gonna ever be rid of this most overused Ubers Pokemon. Wanna troll all the Xerneas users? Here are some suggestions.
- Option A:
- Accelgor @ Focus Sash
- Ability: Unburden
- EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 Atk
- Jolly Nature
- - Final Gambit
- - Spikes
- - Knock Off
- - Encore/Yawn
- Situation 1: Opponent leads with Xerneas and you with Accelgor
- Turn 1: Use Knock Off. Watch them squirm as Geomancy takes two turns. Plus you already blew Xerneas' Power Herb, giving you a massive advantage.
- Turn 2: You have some options from here.
- A. Use Encore, then:
- A1. Final Gambit. See Option C for what happens next.
- A2. Switch out to a setup sweeper or Physical attacker of your own (like Extremespeed Arceus or Zekrom or Groudon), then buff up with Arceus or 2HKO with Zekrom/Groudon.
- B. Use Yawn, then Spikes
- B1. If Xerneas stays in and attacks after Yawn, Accelgor is down to 1 HP and Xerneas goes to sleep.
- B2. If Xerneas switches out, you have 1 layer of Spikes, and Accelgor is likely with full health and with an intact Focus Sash, so you now have a choice of Knock Off, Final Gambit or Yawn on the new uber victim that just came in.
- C. Use Final Gambit, then switch in either Extremespeed Arceus or Sand Stream Tyranitar with Protect. If the opponent is smart, Xerneas will be sacrificed to either THE god, or the weather gods.
- Situation 2: Xerneas faints a Pokemon. Accelgor comes in. (Note: No Rocks or Spikes on your field.)
- Turn 1: Xerneas attacks with whatever, bringing Accelgor down to 1 health. Accelgor responds with Yawn/Encore.
- Turn 2: Fire off Spikes. Since Unburden triggers, Accelgor is faster than Xerneas. If Xerneas flees, you have a spike layer down. If Xerneas stays, you likely have a KO'd Accelgor and a free switch in. And a sleeping Xerneas if Yawn, or a Xerneas locked into a non-effective move if you still have a resistant Pokemon who can come in for Encore. (This is usually Steel Arceus, who can now proceed to Steel Judgment or Swords Dance.)
- Option B:
- Forretress @ Red Card
- Ability: Sturdy
- EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Def
- Relaxed Nature
- IVs: 0 Spd
- - Endure
- - Gyro Ball
- - Stealth Rock
- - Rapid Spin / Explosion
- Endure is just in case you have to come in with Rocks in play.
- Situation 1: Opponent leads with Xerneas and you with Forretress
- Just Gyro Ball them. If they use Geomancy, they're toast.
- 252+ Atk Forretress Gyro Ball (140 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def (+2 Speed) Xerneas: 408-482 (103.5 - 122.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
- Alternatively you can equip Iron Ball instead of Red Card to guarantee the OHKO even if Xerneas attacks immediately, which is normally the smart thing to do against Forretress.
- Situation 2: Xerneas faints a Pokemon. Forretress comes in.
- Use Endure (if your health isn't full) or Stealth Rock (if your health is full). Sacrifice Forretress afterwards by blowing up (just in case the opponent decides to attempt to set up sweep on your 1HP Forretress).
- Option C:
- Shaymin-Sky @ Red Card
- Ability: Serene Grace
- EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
- Hasty Nature
- - Endure
- - Air Slash
- - Seed Flare
- - Endeavor
- Just Endure. In most cases it isn't Extreme Arceus, Scarf Kyogre or Giratina that's coming in, so you just Endeavor the next guy, faint, and switch to Extremespeed Arceus or Tyranitar for the KO. Get rid of Xerneas' Geomancy, and put the incoming Pokemon to 1 HP at the cost of 1 Pokemon is not bad.
