  1. 11/14/18 Katrin practicing flowing her mana into the stone that Arthur Rowan gave them for homework, at first there was a critical fail, leading to a burn on her forehead, but she did not give up, she tried again, imagining it was an actual body, she was able to focus her mana properly to get the stone to be a successful attempt.
  2. (I know solo dev is horrible, but nobody was on at the time and I needed to do something with the homework stone, I rolled a dice for the first attempt and got a 1 for crit fail, and then second attempt rolled 6 for success.)
  3.
  4. [07:06] Katrin sat down at the table and pulled out the stone that Arthur had given her. She needed to practice allowing her magic to flow into the stone to turn it green just like Arthur had said they had to, she wanted to practice her necromancy skills on her own, Katrin got comfortable and then placed a hand on the stone.
  5.
  6. She began to press mana into the stone, she kept her eyes open to watch the stone. More and more mana flowed into the stone, raw mana flooding over the stone giving it a blue tinge for a moment, Katrin smiled and then closed her eyes.
  7.
  8. Katrin could feel her mana flowing directly into it and began to relax even more, she knew that she was doing it right. After a few seconds of letting her mana flow into the stone she began to feel a warm sensation, she'd done it.
  9.
  10. She opened her eyes and looked at the stone, there was no change in it's color, it was still black as the night skies, what had Katrin done wrong? She could feel the warmth coming from the stone, it just needed a little more.
  11.
  12. She quickly pushed more mana into the stone and after a split second, the stone reacted, lighting up and glowing white, the heat surging up her arm, Katrin yanked her hand back and yelled, the sudden shift in her weight caused her to lose her balance on the stool and she began to fall. She attempted to catch herself on the table but her hands both slipped from the sweat created from focusing, her arms went to the side and her head slammed right into the stone, The searing pain slammed into her and she jumped back, a large burn mark on her forehead.
  13.
  14. "Da--damnit!"
  15.
  16. Arthurs words wrang through her mind.
  17. If it becomes hot to the touch, you invested too much mana and too quickly.
  18.
  19. Katrin's haste had caused her to fail.
  20.
  21. She took a deep breath and wiped a tear away from her eye caused by the pain.
  22.
  23. "Too much mana.. I need to stay relaxed and not force myself to rush.. if I rush when I'm working on a body the entire thing could be destroyed. Next time, I'm going to try and relax."
  24.
  25. Katrin waited the ten minutes for the stone to cool and disperse the mana that had been inside it.
  26.
  27. After it had returned to it's normal black coloring she sat back at the table, rubbing her forhead gently as it still hurt. She needed to take her time.
  28.
  29. Katrin placed her hand onto the stone and began to imagine it being a person.
  30.
  31. She envisioned a head, the spine, the circuits, the stomach, and began to flow her mana into it, She knew that too fast would damage the body, and too slow would cause it to fail.
  32.
  33. In her mind she could feel the mana circuits of the imaginary body slowly filling up with her mana. Little by little she allowed her mana to flow, not wildly, but not too slowly, she was going for just right. Sweat began to drip down her head, causing her burn to sting but she couldn't allow that to break her concentration, being able to master this was important to her.
  34.
  35. She could feel the stone beginning to heat up and pulled her mana back slightly, she was pushing too much into it. after a bit of correction she began to feel like the body she had imagined was beginning to get full, she was close, Katrin continued the process of flowing her mana into the stone, doing what she could to feel for the stone being full. The heat the stone had put off had faded away, now it just felt warm to the touch.
  36.
  37. Katrin slowly removed her hand and opened her eyes, the stone was glowing green. She had done it correctly, allowed mana to flow into it just right, not too fast and not too slow. She smiled widely and put the stone back in her pocket.
  38.
  39. She looked around hoping that someone else had seen her achievement, but no one was around.. she had no one to share this success with at the time. There was a low sigh as she got up from the table.
