  1. I have participated at several competitions during both, Elementary and High school, mainly at English competitions. While I might not have been among the top participants, I did score 80 at the first competition during the first semester of the eight grade, 87 during the second semester, and 91 in the ninth grade. These are a few experiences that have been important to me.
  2. My parents have been married for roughly 18 years, and they still love each other like in their first day! We live together with my grandmother from my mother’s side. The average monthly, household income is ~$1100 per month, and we are managing our bills and daily consumption just fine.
  3. My main interest as of now is to be able to help my family with the costs of sustaining me at a high school, and in the future at a College. Getting a part-time job while being a student is a tough process, and in the city I live in, all you can do are errands for your neighbours. This brings us to my common activities. I have recently started writing articles, in English of course. I have been interviewed and successfully accepted as an article writer for a British Company. The prices vary, ranging from $2 for a 300 word article, to $4 for a 500 word article. I have done articles for a month now, and have earned $200 in total, which is more than enough to supply myself with food, clothes, and for entertainment purposes during a regular month. This is a huge opportunity for me, and I spend most of my time writing articles. Other activities involve occasional games of football and playing pool. While working is considered boring by most, I enjoy doing it because I know that in the future, I will have enough money to buy myself whatever I want, without having to waste my parents’ money which can be used for better purposes.
  4. Besides being an employee for the British article-writing company, I am also a part of an online community, with over 80.000 members. The community does have its own personal forum, which is used for daily news and discussions. I have been a regular member for 3 years, and became a tester/moderator in 2010. That special position allows me to literally take care of the forum. I make sure that there is no rule-breaking going on, no illegal links, no copyrighted software, etc. This position requires a high level of knowledge about English grammar, spelling, and literature. There are roughly 50 staff members, and considering that there is an average of 50.000 active members, I find that a position worthy of being mentioned.
  5. I am particularly interested in football, and I enjoy watching the games on TV with either my father or friends. Our financial situation and location does not allow me to go to a real soccer game. The only soccer match I have been to was 6 years ago, and I found it pretty amazing. I am not a professional player, but I enjoy discussing, and playing it occasionally with my friends.
  6. I particularly enjoy learning in school, and every time I run across something I do not know, I look it up to feed my curiosity.
  7. As special accomplishments I want to note achieving 100/100 on a Math Contest in middle school. Another accomplishment that I consider necessary to note is the volunteering for the Red Cross first aid techniques. I did take the special class, and together with my team we have managed to win the first place in all three competitions that followed the training. Achieving the tester position on the online community is also a great accomplishment that I have achieved. In the future I plan to follow a medical career, because I have always enjoyed helping and diagnosing people, especially after following the Red Cross First-Aid Training.
  8. My reasons for wishing to spend a year in Britain are enough, but I will note down those that I believe best describe my intentions. First of all, the Romanian school system is dull, forcing students to follow a specific quota of classes, not giving them the ability to choose what they would like to specialize in. I know I can do much more if I am given the ability to prove myself. Spending a year in Britain would greatly improve my chances of obtaining a quality job and also push me closer to achieving my goals for the future.
