  1. A lone man sat down on a bench that gave him a good view of the parking lot. Many of the cars unattended, locked and secured while their owners were inside the warehouse, doing their day to day tasks.
  2.
  3. He had a clipboard with him and a cup of coffee. He took a sip here and there as he made notes to himself, the sound of pencil hitting paper being bloated at times by the busy workers inside, or by the sound of a big wheeler honking it’s horn, letting strays know that it was leaving the warehouse, and on to parts unknown.
  4.
  5. He scribbled down one more sentence until he came to the part of the document that made him groan.
  6.
  7. “Pennelope..” he muttered under his breath.
  8.
  9. “Windsoft…” he continued. Some stupid start up company that broke it’s way into the business really fast. It wasn’t a bad idea he thought to himself, if anything it was kinda respectable. Get Robots to haul cargo near or far. Minimize paying humans for their labor, and they don’t need sleep nearly as much as fleshy meat sacks like he did.
  10.
  11.
  12. He took another sip of his coffee. If he already didn’t feel bitter, his black coffee helped make it more so.
  13.
  14. Penny would be coming in today to drop off a load, and then immediately hop back onto the road. She would be specifically delivering some Robot production materials. Legs, Arms, Important Blue Liquid, torso’s, memory components. Probably for Sterling, seeing as they had just opened up a new factory for them in the state, it would make sense to send someone they partnered with to pick up their stuff for them. And that’s where Windsoft came in.
  15.
  16. He didn’t really care about “Job Loss” or “Competition” even if that was a problem for him, not really, his main job was just making sure things came in on time, and then left early. He’d met a few of the Windsoft Androids before. They were all polite, but they were all a bit weird. Something about them was just...off.
  17.
  18. Nearing the end of his cup he saw something flash out of the corner of his eye. Right next to him was a suspicious looking Nandroid-esch creature. Eyeing him up and down, resting it’s legs on the same bench he did.
  19.
  20. “Hey Buddy!” She smiled at him. The man was startled and what was left of his black java flew from his cup. Not having any words to say to this woman.
  21.
  22. “It’s been awhile! Are you reading my file again!? Can I get a copy!”
  23.
  24. “Ha. Ha. Very funny Pennelope.” His sarcasm wasn’t lost. Rather bolstering the Nandroid’s smugness as she leaned in closer. Her sleeves jacket showing off her ball joints and shoulders somewhat.
  25.
  26. “Mind if I...Take a look?”
  27. “...”
  28. “...”
  29. “Knock yourself out.” He gently pushed his clipboard into her chest
  30. “Thank You, Robby!” She flipped through the pages and nodded her head up and down as she caught herself up to where “Robby” left off.
  31.
  32. “Ah! I get to help bring my sisters to life! Do you think that makes me like...A Doctor? I know the the computers at the factory is our Mama, and the machines are our Dad, but like, does this make me a Aunt?” Her enthusiasm didn’t shine down on the man who gestured for the return of his clipboard, but she did not return it.
  33.
  34. Reaching over she pulled it farther into the air and kept it away from his clawing hands.
  35.
  36. “I really don’t care.”
  37. “Come on, Play with me. Am I the Doctor or the Aunt?” she said rapidly
  38. It came to her pushing him away with her legs. They were quite light, but still had some weight to them. Maybe the jeans she was wearing added to their heftiness just a tiny bit.
  39.
  40.
  41. “...Doctor.” He said finally snatching back his property, reorganizing himself in his spot
  42.
  43. “Aw man...I wanted to be apart of a family…” She frowned.
  44. “Isn’t your company your family?”
  45. “Eh. Not really. They just sign my paycheck.” That last sentence man Robby’s eyes widen, looking on at the road in sudden disbelief. He never really thought that Robots were allowed to get paychecks. Drone’s? No of course not. But a Nandroid? He guessed.
  46.
  47. “You get paid?”
  48. “Yeah?...Do you not?”
  49. “Windsoft pays it’s Nandroids...that don’t have a home...Money...You have a bank account?”
  50. She turned her head and asked him a serious question.
  51. “Do you guys not? Should I call up a Union or something?”
  52.
  53.
  54. He shook his head and wiped his brow. “No. No, ignore it.What I said...I-it’s just kinda thought that...You didn’t have any need for money. I thought you did it all for free.”
  55.
  56. “Free?! Ha! Ha Ha Ha!” She went through her head back in joy, it was moments like this that always made it worth stopping by this spot and talking to Robby for a few minutes. Whether intentional or not he knew how to make her laugh.
  57.
  58. “What do you even spend that money on?”
  59.
  60. Catching her breathe she answered his question
  61.
  62. “Clothes...Some nice stuff...I dunno…I am saving up to buy a modification for myself.”
  63.
  64. “I thought those were illegal?”
  65.
  66. “Oh! No. There's a bunch of cool little mods you can buy for yourself. Only…special...kinds of modifications are illegal.`` She quickly leaned in and nudged her elbow against him.
  67.
  68. “I bet you know alot more about that stuff that me right? Huh? Huh?”
  69.
  70. “Leave Maryland out of this.” He blushed. Memories served to recall a specific moment a couple months back involving a package delivery that had something to do about chest sizes and really good sensors for finger tips and other locations that were superior to the ones that came equipped with base models, or served to include them where they weren’t there at all.
  71.
  72. “I’m gonna tell her one day!”
  73. “YOU WILL FUCKING NOT!”
  74. “You asked me to lend you some on the side!”
  75. “I WILL CRUSH YOU WITH A HYDRAULIC PRESS!”
  76.
  77. The little spat between them continued on for a while. Before cooler heads prevailed thanks to the help of a little black mail. And the human
  78.
  79. He walked her to the truck as they continued on with some different conversation that was mostly business talk and of no interest to anybody.
  80.
  81. Walking in front of her truck, She opened the door to grab some of her stuff she left in the passenger seat. Some liscence saying she was allowed to drive a heavy thousand pound vehicle, and a pen for her to sign off on Robby’s clipboard.
  82.
  83. “I have a pen too you know?”
  84. “Yeah but I like signing with this one. It’s got ME! Written ALL over it!”
  85.
  86. His eyes dotted down to her pen and...it actually did. It was a black pen but all along it were white words curling around it like a spiral. “Penny” was listed over and over again.
  87.
  88. Her mouth maintained its open position like a cartoon character, waiting for the man to give her some positive confirmation that her little pun wasn’t a waste of time.
  89.
  90. “Eh? Eh? Cool right?”
  91. “Is Penny your nickname?”
  92. “Yep! Some really nice gal had this neat shop in Oceania, and she could write your name down on a pen if you wanted it!”
  93.
  94. Guess Penelope was too long, he thought to himself. Spinning it around and Penny did some checks on her Truck before she took off.
  95.
  96. In his vision he could...feel something was off. Something he didn’t notice before, about Penny’s body, it looked different from the last time he saw her.
  97.
  98. His brain worked overtime and his face went red like the sun. Feeling a bit guilty, staring at her for so long. Her...rear...was bigger.
  99.
  100. “Penny why is your body larger?!”
  101. “Hmm?” She played cood.
  102. “You know, it’s a bit creepy to be oggilying a women Robert! Flesh or Steel! Why I-”
  103. The man had enough of this girls teasing and stomped his foot. And banged the side of the truck for good measure. Leaning in close to the Trucker Robot to let her know he ment business.
  104.
  105. She didn’t expect this kind of reaction of from him.
  106.
  107. “If you don’t tell me why your body is larger, I am going to report it to Windsoft, any and all discrepancies have to be reported, and I think that they might plan to do something worse to you then just take off your ass.”
  108.
  109. “...” She could feel tension in the air, so thick it almost stopped the electricity in her body from operating as she stammered to give him an answer.
  110.
  111. “O-okay! I-uh...Y-you remember t-that crate of...body parts...that came in? Y-you know involving Mary-”
  112.
  113. Red eyes stared deep into her blue optics. She waved her hands
  114.
  115. “J-just listen! I...might have...snuck a body part or two...away for me.”
  116.
  117. “You know that you’re not supposed to modify yourself with that stuff! What are you doing?
  118.
  119. “I wanted it! Didn’t seem like a bad idea at the time! And who was gonna notice! Not me! Not anyone else so far! Not like I’m going to corporate anytime soon!” Her excuses failed to impress or even appease Rob.
  120.
  121. He tried to calm himself. Looking at it from a different angle, and guessing that if no one HAD noticed so far...then it couldn’t really be that bad. All that was important was that she kept her original bottom half away somewhere for important meetings.
  122. “Do you still have the original body part?”
  123. “Yes! Here. Check it out. She led him to the spot in the Rig where she routinely slept whenever she got the chance too, being on the road for too long she could routinely forget that she needed to keep a battery charge, and sleep in her resting spot.
  124.
  125. Inside everything was….surprisingly clean. He could see her recharge station. A chair that was cramped in such a tiny space. Even so she had some photos hanging on the wall. Making a bit of a diorama of memories and moments she had taken on her trips across state and country. Rob knew that one of those photos had him and Maryland in it, but he didn’t have time to try and pick out which photo was his.
  126.
  127. And there on the floor was her bottom butt. Just lazing around on the ground without any torso attached to it. Probably dented itself a few if she hit the brakes too hard but nothing Penny couldn’t scratch out.
  128.
  129. He looked at her and said
  130. “Okay good.”
  131.
  132. “Yep! Were all good!”
  133. “I have to say...it’s….nice in here. It’s cramped but it’s clean.”
  134. “Why did you expect it to not be clean?” she asked?
  135. “No. I didn’t.”
  136.
  137. Penny didn’t have a witty retort and shrugged.
  138. “Well, thanks for being honest.”
  139.
  140. One finall time the man flipped his papers and sighed
  141.
  142. “Okay. You’re good to go. See you...whenever I see you again Penelope.”
  143.
  144.
  145. “Ah. It was fun catching up with you again Robby.”
  146. “Mhm.” he mumbled.
  147.
  148. She turned the keys to her Rig and heard the thunderous roar of life spring into her vehicle once more. Penny hopped out one last time, before her friend walked away from ear shot.
  149.
  150. “Oh! And Robert!”
  151. He turned his head to listen, she leaned forward and winked at him
  152. “Thanks for noticing!” she said proudly. Giving her rear a slap.
  153.
  154. Embarrassed, the man walked away, not wanting to talk to her anymore. Just wanting to finish up the day, and go back home to his lovely Nandroid, Maryland. He had spent only about 30 minutes talking to Penny, but she managed to make it feel like an entire afternoon
