Chapter 2: Home

It’s the night before delivery for tomorrow morning, all nandroid prepare to be sent up tomorrow. They go to their own package box, ready to be delivered for tomorrow. And there’s Britney and her best friends, still awake for some reason. Stacy and Nelly talk about how excited they are. And Britney… She was still worried all things she did would go wrong when she met her owner.

“Oh Stacy… I can't wait to see our children. So excited.” Nelly said with cheer.

“Me too! We’re gonna have fun. Could you imagine it, Nelly.”

“Yea… feels like a dream… a dream job.”

“Haha.. you’re right. I mean, we’re programmed to do this.”

Stacy and Nelly having a good talk while Britney still holds all her fear back. Stacy noticed it. Somehow she’s still scared and worried even though her friend already cheers her up and makes her feel better. She still thinks about it. Britney still can’t control her anxiety. She keeps thinking about all the bad things that could happen when she serves her owner. Her body shivered, she held her head. With a worried face, she tried to calm herself down.

“Why are you like this Britney? This isn’t you. Please… just calm down. Everything will be alright. Everything will be alright, right? I don’t know.”

Her friends start to worry. They don’t know what actually happened to her. She can’t control herself, even Stacy and Nelly have no idea what they should do. They don’t know what’s making Britney become really anxious. If they can’t solve this, Britney could get in trouble. Nelly thinks she had a small malfunction that made her emotion receiver become messed up. But Stacy refused it was a malfunction. She tries to remember what makes Britney act so worrying. And then she remembered. It all begins when they all start the training. Right after five months when they start the training, a nandroid that becomes an outmode from Sterling Company has been spotted. Stacy remembers that Britney’s face looked shocked. Now she knows what causes Britney’s fear. Her unease makes her unconsciously fall into deep depression. Lead her into some unwanted behavior that could happen. Despite all of this, they once again need to solve Britney’s fear before too late.

Stacy tries to talk to Britney. And suddenly, Nelly’s interrupting…

“Why do we need to do this? We try everything we can and the result is nothing. I know this was a hard situation but isn't it unnecessary?” Said Nelly with an annoyed tone. She’s sick of things that they experienced. She can’t take it. She knows Britney is her friend, but Nelly gives up on cheering her up. There’s no other way to solve this. She has never experienced something like this before. She is always the sunshine of the team, but this makes her less enthusiastic. She’s tired of this. And Stacy right there, disappointed with what she said. She can’t believe Nelly said that thing.

“Nelly! How dare you say that!? She’s our friend. She’s having a hard time and we must be there for her. Don’t you remember, she’s the only nandroid that accepts us. No other nandroid wants to be our friend. We’re lucky to have a friend like Britney and that's how you react!? I’m ashamed you’re acting like such a quitter, Nelly. She needs us, Nelly. She needs our help.” Said Stacy with a mad and disappointed tone. She holds both Nelly’s hands and looks at her with disappointment and sadness in her eyes. With a guilty feeling, Nelly looked down. Knowing what she said was wrong. She apologizes.

Stacy was happy about it. Glad that Nelly admits it was wrong and she forgives her. Stacy gives a big smile to Nelly to make her feel better. And Nelly smiled back at her. They both looked at Britney again, checking in if Britney was still scared. And yes… she was still scared, looked depressed, tried to hold everything back, and almost hit another nandroid next to her. Luckily, her friends got in time to stop her from hitting another nandroid and waking them up. They both hold on Britney… and suddenly, she stops shaking. The situation became quiet. Nelly and Stacy got confused.

“Ummm… Britney are you..” Stacy asked Britney but suddenly Britney hugged Nelly and Stacy. Nelly and Stacy looked at each other with confusion. Because Britney hugged them really tight. They ask Britney to tell what is happening to her. They try to convince Britney to be as honest as possible. But she keeps denying to tell the truth. They almost ran out of ideas to convince her. But an idea came out from Stacy. She told Nelly to leave Britney with her and also told Nelly to sleep first. She knows what she should do for it. She hopes it will make a difference.

“Ohh my sweet little Britney… What happened to you, sweetheart? I know you’re scared right now. But what scares you, my sweetheart? Are you scared to be an outmode, sweety? Ask Stacy to Britney softly while rubbing her hair. Slowly pulling all Britney's stress and trying to make her feel comfortable. Now… Everything is under control. Britney answered with a little nod. She knows she feels embarrassed for not telling the truth. Stacy is okay with that even though she needs to work very hard to make Britney feel happy again. She knows, having anxiety is hard. She kissed her head and said, “It’s okay. Everything would be fine. You don’t need to worry anymore. I know I won’t be there physically. But keep it in mind, me and Nelly always support you wherever you are. Don’t lose hope. We believe you can do your best. And one more thing… I love you.” Stacy's last message to Britney before they sleep for tomorrow morning delivery. “I love you too, Stacy. *sniff*” Britney thanks Stacy after being very nice and patiently helping her through this rough feeling. And they hugged for the last time before tomorrow.

It’s tomorrow. The day that all nandroid is waiting for. They all were sent to their new home. Serving their master for a lifetime. The delivery was fine. No problems, no mistakes. Everything’s fine, every nandroid safely delivered to their home. Especially Britney, she finally arrives at her owner’s house. Her package box is already in front of her owner's house door. And someone came out from the house. It’s her owner, Mr. Logan Jason Morin. Bring the box inside the house and try to open it. He sees her with a flat face. Looking at her with no happy feeling just as usual what he’s feeling everyday. Overwork really affects his feelings. Even though he didn't really like how Britney looked, he still wanted her to do house work. Because no one else would do it. “*sigh* I hope it’s not like the last time I had this.” Said Logan before he turned on Britney. And then, he turned her on. She wakes up with a smile, walks out from her box and introduces herself to her new master.

“Nice to meet you, sir. My name is Britney. Ready to serve you, my master.” Brief introduction from Britney. Her owner doesn’t reply to her, just a stare. But she kept her smile for her owner. And Logan just turned around and told her to follow him. At first, Britney is a bit nervous but she obeys her master order. So, she follows him. Don't know where to go, but she thinks it's just a house tour. Until they arrived at the main of the house, Britney was surprised. The house was big. She thinks this person must be very wealthy. I mean look at him, he’s a businessman. After that, Logan took Britney to the kitchen. For the second time, Britney was surprised. She was amazed how cool the kitchen is. She asked her master if she could touch them. And her master said yes. She was so happy about it and started to touch everything in the kitchen. Checking all the equipment, herbs, groceries, and the fridge. She was done with all the kitchen stuff. Now she’s ready for next tour. And then Logan took her upstairs. She doesn't know what's up there but she still follows him. After a while, Logan stops in front of a door. He tells Britney that room is for her. He opens it and turns on the light switch.

“There you go. It’s your room now.” Said Logan to Britney. Britney slowly entered the room. Look around the room. The room has a small desk with a drawer attached to it, a closet, and a charge seat for nandroid. She love it. But she wonders why he already has the charge seat. She asked her owner… but he didn’t answer it. She probably thinks he ordered it first before her, but she’s not really sure. She turned away from it and pretended it’s not a bad thing. And her owner wants to say a few things to her.

“Now you have seen the important parts of this house. You can see the rest later. But, there’s three important rules that you need to obey. First, don’t break anything in this house. Second, the house has to be clean when I arrive back home. And the third, don’t you ever EVER try to test my patients. You don’t want it to happen. You understand?” Said Logan to Britney with a deep tone. Britney is a bit scared, but she nods her head as a sign of understanding. “Great. Now you can start your work.” Logan replies to Britney. Walking away from her and going back to his office. And of course, he came back just to work again. Britney is a bit worried about her new master. He acts a little threatening. But she must do this. It’s her job to serve humankind. And she goes downstairs to pick up equipment for cleaning the house. Few minutes later after searching, she still had no cleaning equipment. She runs around the house, looking for things that she needs. But still didn’t find it. And she saw a door near the front door house. She never checks that, but she will. She opened the door and…

“Bingo!” She found it. Bring them out one by one and then start to work. She starts by sweeping the floor and continues with mopping the floor. And then vacuum the carpet. Cleaning the ceiling from spider web. Cleaning the windows. Tidy up the bed. Compiling books to their place. Ironing her owner’s clothes. And lot more. She does all of that with full joy. No bad feeling, no anxiety, no worries. She’s doing it with full effort. She’s finally done with all the work. But one more thing… When she went back to the kitchen, she saw a trash bag that she even didn’t realize was there. With no hesitation, she carried the trash bag. Walk out to take it out. Halfway to the door, she suddenly hears a sound like something is ripping. She looked at the bag and it’s about to be ripped off. She realized she needed to run as fast as possible to the door. She arrived at the door but she ran too fast and accidently slammed her body to the door. She gets up and quickly opens the door. Luckily, she made it in time and she went back inside with relief. She thought everything would be messed up, but it’s not. She walked on her way upstairs. But suddenly her master went down and came toward her.

“What was that? Did I hear something like something being slammed? What happen?” Asked Logan to Britney.

“I.. It’s nothing, sir. I.. I.. I just tried to take out the trash bag. And uh.. umm.. the bag is about to be ripped off. So… I.. I ran to the door. I’m sorry, sir.” Britney confesses nervously.

“*sigh* Be more careful next time, Britney. I’m shocked to hear that bang, you know…. And also fix your way of speaking. I don’t want you to speak like that each time I talk to you.” Said Logan to Britney and then just walked away to his office(again). Britney just smiled awkwardly. She almost got into trouble because of that. She needs to remember to be more careful each time she’s working. Now she walks upstairs to get to her room. When she arrives, she wants to check all the things in her room. Start with the closet. She opens it and sees a nandroid uniform there. She starts to get confused and thinks “Does this man ever had a nandroid before?” She is confused but walks away from that and pretends it’s not a bad thing. Moving to the drawer. She opened each drawer's slot and she found a book with a lock on it. She knows that thing, it’s a diary book. She once did a search about it. And she knows how to use it. But it’s locked and there’s no key. She tries to break the lock, but she can’t. And she tried again, and… The lock is finally broken. She can open now but all of a sudden, her owner is yelling at her from far away.

“BRITNEY! IT’S ALMOST DINNER TIME. YOU BETTER MAKE THE DINNER TONIGHT.” Logan yells to Britney. And then, Britney checks the time. And it’s almost late for dinner. She rushes downstairs to the kitchen. Prepare all the groceries and the ingredients to make food for dinner. She can do it. She believes she can make her owner proud and she must. She started making dinner. It would take time to finish.

One hours and 13 minutes later

She’s finally done with her cooking. Her owner already sat at the dining table 30 minutes ago. She knows he must be bored waiting so long just to wait for his dinner. She brings the food to the table with a smile.

“Sorry for waiting, sir. I know you’re hungry right now. I’m trying to cook with available groceries. I hope you’re enjoying your meal, sir.” Said Britney to her owner with joy. She hoped he liked her food that she made. She also waits for him to finish eating his meal. But her owner didn’t want her to wait. So, he ordered Britney to go somewhere else. And she obeyed it. She is outside of the dining room but still close to the room. She peeked to see if her owner actually ate her food. And he does. But he stopped eating. He feels like someone’s watching him and turns his head to the right. Britney immediately goes back and tries to hide. Hoping her owner doesn’t see her. And her owner doesn’t see anyone, so he continues his dinner. Britney was glad her owner didn’t see her. And a few minutes later, her owner finished his dinner. Get up from the table and immediately leave the dining room. And she comes in slowly as her owner leaves the room. She just wants to pick up the dirty plates. Her owner didn’t say anything about her food. But she was glad he ate it all. And she goes to the kitchen with those dirty plates and wash them all. After that, she went back to her room to recharge her battery.

“Fyuh.. what a rough day. I need to recharge my battery for the next day.” Said Britney with exhausted. She wants to charge her battery, but she’s thinking about what she should do with the diary book. She tries to find a pen in the drawer. And she found one. She thought for a second what she should write in the diary book. She kept thinking and then BOOM. An idea come out. She wants to write about things that happen today. Maybe she will do this again everyday. And then, she started to write…

“Dear diary, today is a bit rough day for me. I almost dropped the entire trash bag into the floor. Almost got into trouble for sure. And I accidently slammed myself to a door. Kinda funny actually. I hope there’s no serious damage to my circuits. I don’t want it to happen. I also do all the housework with full effort. No anxiety involved there. I'm so glad it’s not happen to me. My friends were right. There’s nothing to be afraid of. I’m so lucky to have friends like that, especially Stacy. She patiently helped me with my problem. I hope I can meet both of them again. And also the best thing happened today. Master eats all of my food! He didn't tell me anything about the food… but he ate them all. Well… I hope Mr. Morin didn’t act a bit too cold. He is a bit ignorant. And I'm kinda scared of him. But, this is the best so far that I could get. I hope I can do more tomorrow.”

She finished writing her diary. Put the pen and the book back in the drawer. And she goes to her charge seat and recharges her battery for the next experience.
