  1. Guidelines for keeping safe at protests:
  2. 1. Wear a scarf or balaclava or ski mask around your neck to quickly be able to protect your mouth and nose from pepper spray
  3. 2. Rub Vaseline over your face if you expect mace or pepper spray may be used. DO NOT IF YOU EXPECT TEAR GAS. (remove immediately after being sprayed)
  4. 3. Wear safety glasses, paintball masks, chem goggles or similar to protect your eyes from paintballs and chemical agents.
  5. 4. Wear gloves
  6. 5. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times
  7. 6. Wear a jacket or sweatshirt
  8. 7. Wear shoes, boots preferred. No sandals
  9. 8. Wear pants. NO SKIRTS
  10. 8. DO NOT WEAR CONTACTS
  11. 9. Tear gas is best removed with a mixture 1 part Boric Acid to 3 parts water, normal eye drops can also work, although less quickly
  12. 10. To remove Tear gas from the skin: A) Wash with mineral oil B) Wash with water, quickly swab clean with alcohol.
  13. 11. Gas masks and wet paper towels/ wet face coverings are the best protection from CS/CN Tear Gas
  14. 12. Nausea Gas, is a clear odorless chemical that comes in a similar can to tear gas. if you see this gas being used A) RUN B) Remove all face coverings C) if there are people with respiratory illnesses they must be rushed to a hospital immediately. Nausea gas is more rare then tear gas but causes projectile vomiting, uncontrollable diarrhea, and an altered mental state
