  2. The relationship between magic and physical:
  3. -------------------------------
  4. In the WCW world, the more physically strong something is, the easier it is for magic to affect it. Conversely, the more magically resistant something is, the more fragile it is. Even though there are some rare exceptions, they are only of academic interests.
  5.
  6. In the case of Diamonds, because it is a hard substance, magic can affect it with ease. You can magically slice and polish a diamond quickly, easily, and precisely. Diamonds are also really easy to enchant, and as such it is a popular ingredient for making Talismans/charms.
  7. On the other hand, to be easily affected by magic means nearly no magic resistance, and can be easily destroyed magically.
  8. This is why there are enchantments that can raise magic resistance.
  9. Because physical resistance and magical resistance are almost mutually exclusive, there are limits to how they can be stacked. An object has the max capacity for 100% resistance. But if you give it 90% physical resistance, you are limited to only enchanting it with up to 10% magic resistance. And if you TRY to go above the limits the object would be destroyed.
  10. Another point is that the resistance of the object can no longer be altered after you give it some other enchantment. So the resistance value of an object is always administered first before any other kind of magic crafting.
  11. For something like a Diamond, with natural 97 physical resistances, you can only give it 3% magic resistance. And careless enchanting could accidentally go over 3% and destroy the gem. Thus most of the time people don’t bother and just enchant it with whatever they wanted. The enchanted diamond thus stays weak to magic for its lifetime.
  12.
  13. Concerning the cape the Witches wear, they are tailored extremely well to be very durable, and then has magic resistance buff cast on them. In general the resistance value is 30% physical and 30% magical for the average witch cape.
  14.
  15. For the extremely expensive witch garb, the more expensive they are the closer they are to the theoretical maximum of 100% resistance. Like 40% Physical and 40% Magical resistance. A 50/50 witch garb is EXTREMELY hard to produce, and require high quality craftsmanship.
  16. Of course, there exists specialised anti-magic clothing with 10% physical and 60% magical resist. Those capes resemble Cardigans.
  17. The special prison used to lock up Weekend, was especially made to resist magic, but it made it too weak against physical attacks.
  18. But since her magic was already sealed, wouldn’t it be better to put her in a regular surdy prison cell? (And to check her body carefully?)
  19. This is probably why Weekend considers the Workshop Witches as been excessively native.
  20.
  21. ---------------------------
  22. Nicknames
  23. ---------------------------
  24.
  25. Witches that reached a certain point of notoriety and a few other factors gets a nickname, called "End Witch".
  26.
  27. Kazane is nicknamed "BadEnd", as she earned that title somehow.
  28.
  29. Chronoir's nickname is "DeadEnd"
  30.
  31. The interesting thing is that Weekend IS another End Witch. WeekEnd isn't really her true name, it was her End Witch title. This is amusing as she was clearly very weak power wise. So one assumes this is because despite being secretly weak, she is far more active in the community and gained fame without anyone finding out how weak she really is. The fact that she uses her nickname suggests that she realised that it aid in her being taken seriously.
  32.
  33. Medusa doesn't have an End nickname, probably because she had been off the radar for decades/centuries.
  34.
  35. Let me repeat, here is the official author's interpretation on End Witch:
  36. There had been many powerful godly witches in history, so where are they? There should be thousands of hem if they are immortal and invincible. The truth is most of them just achieved godhood and left the mortal plane entirely. This leaves precious few godly witches who stayed behind for personal reasons, and they were given the name End Witch for their destructive potential. The ability to end the world.
  37.
  38. ...But that's a long time ago. Now the End title is granted for Witches who are of a certain notoriety and might. Maybe that name had been watered down over the centuries as magic warfare died down.
  39.
  40. But still, it is amazing that Weekend managed to earn that most prestigious of titles, that technically put her on par with the likes of Chronoire and Kazane.

  42. ----------------------
  43. Noblesse oblige
  44. ----------------------
  45.
  46. Chapter 13: Honoka and Noblesse oblige.
  47. Noblesse oblige: An ancient Witch Contract. Covering the need to be strong, elegant and beautiful. A contract once used by rulers with their Familiars or knights. The cntract terms was very important.
  48.
  49. "When you display elegance and beauty, you gain the protection of the Noblesse oblige."
  50. "Noblesse oblige buffs the contracted person for ten times more magic power than what she is suppose to receive."
  51. "When Noblesse oblige is deactivated, the 10X buff is removed. Also, other special privileges could be turned off. Like injury transfer or invulnerability."
  52.
  53. As long as one behaves politely and elegantly at all times, the special contract would grant massive benefits.
  54.
  55. More details is in the chapter itself. In the case of this chapter Ayaka committed infidelity by having two contracts at once, which is a violation.
  56.
  57. Once Noblesse oblige is broken, one needs to be on their best behaviour for a while before the contract is repaired. However Ayaka had recover on that same night. This was because prior to her being locked up, Kazane used a bunch of crazy spells to repair the contract for her. Kazane warned Ayaka that she wouldn't help her a second time.
  58.
  59. ------------------
  60. KMM
  61. ------------------
  62.
  63. Here is what the author said about Tanpopo:
  64.
  65. Tanpopo had a Western Surname, but because she ended up being Japanese she was given a Japanese written form surnsame while keeping the pronunciation the same.
  66.
  67. She is a mammal, CateyesCatears species. General biology similar to humans.
  68. Has fixed mating seasons, it is problematic when it happens. (This is directly quoted by Tanpopo in anime preview.)
  69.
  70. KMM (confirmed to mean Beast Ears) attack Honoka in many ways. The illusion spell attack took too many pages to explain so the manga just skipped most of it. The actual illusion use the person's own mind to cast the illusion. When Honoka read "building falling", his mind generates an image and that image is magnified and used to create the illusion. The size of the illusion depends on plausibility. If he didn't believe it is possible then it won't work.
  71. Anyone who has magic resistance or basic magic training would be immune to this simple spell. Tanpopo use this to check if Honoka has any magic power and thus, find out if he is a threat or not.
  72. Ayaka couldn't see the falling building.
  73.
  74. The rest of the info of KMM, most of which you already know:
  75. Tanpopo's soldiers are made up of paper. Their name is the White Rabbit Paper Knights.
  76.
  77. Pigtails: She has magic creatures she store in her giant tome.
  78. When the Editor saw her stripped panties, he said that he doesn't enjoy it at all.
  79.
  80. Eyepatch: Use black slime to form portals to go from one place to another. The travel speed is not instant, so it is rather slow.
  81.
  82. What's on her shoulder is a young wolf cub called a "Coast Fenrir". Because it is a young pup it doesn't move independently.
  83. The wolf is born from the white feather shed by a fallen angel when the angel's feathers switch to black. Because the feathers are the remains of what was once good of the fallen Angel, the wolf is the crystallisation of purity itself. However because they are only born when Angels fall into darkness, the wolf is treated as cursed and is often exterminated.
  84. I considered a lot of detail, but for the purpose of WCW, just treat it like "an ordinary dog".
  85.
  86. Flat Chest:
  87. She uses a Scythe of Death, were skull decorations, and command a dinosaur skeleton. She is a sub-type of Necromancer, who only control bones and have no other necromancy power.
  88.
  89. Forehead:
  90. Use a demon blade called "Tiger Iron". She is a Physical-type Witch.
  91.
  92. ---------------
  93. Time Magic
  94. ---------------
  95.
  96. Even though it is possible to use magic to control Time, casting time magic is actually potentially lethal. If you make even a tiny mistake you could warp the timeline. And from the warped timeline a two-headed hound called the "Sword of Darkness" would manifest, chase the spell caster to the depths of hell itself and brutally kill her. Since the Hound has mastery over time and space, it is impossible to run or hide from it.
  97.
  98. Chronoire used time magic to briefly stop Ayaka from moving on the bus. If she can do this anytime she wants, she would be far too invincible. So the author made it so that Chronoire wouldn't use it unless she really think it is needed.
  99.
  100. --------------
  101. Ascension
  102. --------------
  103.
  104. Now that I have read that WCW Witches can actually ascend to godhood, and that it happened rather often, one has to think Evermillion is one of those Witches who could have ascended. The author points out that sometimes a godly witch would reject ascension for personal reasons, because godhood means leaving the mortal plane forever.
  105.
  106. It is a rather interesting concept; that there were many powerful witches that have simply moved on to divinity and disappeared, and that the only ones who stay are those who have special considerations.
  107.
  108.
  109. ---------------
  110. Other Characters
  111. ----------------
  112.
  113. Touko: Ice Girl came from a long line of Ice Witches, but her family fell on hard times and she ended up being semiadopted into the Kazane household. She lived in a small servants house with her 11 younger siblings. She is grateful that Kazane's family took her in, but even then she takes multiple jobs in order to support her younger siblings financially. She actually double as an information broker as she spies on her customers at the Bar at night, and sells the info for cash.
  114.
  115. Medusa: that we saw is actually from a long line of Earth-power Witches. The original Medusa is her ancestor, though that woman got her head hacked off and mounted on some guy's shield. The current Medusa can't fully petrify people because her power is sealed. Medusa actually love and spoil her disciples silly, and call them all her "daughters". She actually considers KMM's uselessness extremely cute and adorable.
  116.
  117. The male teacher actually have a full time job disguising himself as temp teacher in all the primary schools and middle schools in the country, looking for and recruiting potential Witches. This means he actually is often away from school.
  118.
  119. -------------
  120. Misc
  121. -------------
  122.
  123. Other things: With the Imouto elope chapter, even the author think it was pathetic that Honoka gets kidnapped so easily.
  124. Also, Kazane apparently told Ayaka many times "DON'T USE DRAGON BREATH IN THE CITY". That it would mess the place up. Guess Ayaka doesn't care.
