- OMAM ROUGH DRAFT
- OMAM is a fictional book with many twists and turns and scenario that I will share my opinion on. I think that Lennie would have been either tortured in prison if George didn’t kill him. Or I think that Curley would have gotten some of his men to kill lennie because of what lennie did to curleys wife and because of what he did to his hand. So regardless, lennie was in some deep deep trouble.(this text and above was what I have so far)
- Lennie would have gone to jail if he survived or killed by Curley, options for Lennie were
- not looking good. some people may argue that George was not justified in killing Lennie
- however, I still believe that George did a good thing for the friend that he loves, Lennie.
- My first claim is George wanted to save Lennie from a big mob that wants to kill him,
- Curley. That big son of a bitch done it. I know he done it, while every person was out of
- there playing horseshoes. I’m gonna get him, ima shoot that big son of a bitch myself”
- The rest of the dialogue is everyone getting ready to search for them (Pg 96). Here
- Curley explains that he has no mercy for Lennie. We knew that Curley never liked
- Lennie even from the beginning. He tried to fight him. Now we see Curley’s rage taking
- him over and wanting to kill Lennie ruthlessly.
- My second claim is that Lennie deserved to die. He murdered Curley’s wife. “And then
- she was still, for Lennie had broken her neck.” (pg 91) Lennie was also mentally insane.
- He’s nuts. … He didn’t even know what he was doing.” (pg 98). A mentally insane
- murderer shouldn’t live. They should be put down.
- Another claim is Lennie would go to jail if he did not get killed by George. “We got to
- bring him in, there ain’t no other way.” (pg 97) This represents George’s actions in what
- he thinks should whether he should go to jail, get killed by Curley, or even get killed from the hands of George. We know that George is short on options and he really does care for his friend
- Lennie.
- Lennie had to die. His only options out were either jail, being tortured by Curley’s mob,
- or being shot in the head. George killed Lennie humanely. He saved the lives of many
- other people by killing Lennie. George was right in killing Lennie because it caused the
- world less misery.
