  1. [00:04:04] <~Aori_Radidjiu> ANYWAY MELONS, we're skipping over the teary farewells and getting straight to nitty gritty.  You said goodbye to your family and few friends and headed right onto the boat...where you ended up falling asleep after a while, it's a pretty long voyage.  You wake up, a little groggy, to the most heat you've ever experienced in your life, except that one time you tried sticking your hand
  2. [00:04:04] <~Aori_Radidjiu> in the toaster when you were little.  Oh my god how can it be this hot out?  The sun's shining the brightest you've ever seen it, and you realize that you're sweating all over, uuuuugh.  Maybe the boat has a shower somewhere?  Might be wishful thinking.  You're on the deck, you fell asleep leaning on the edge of the boat, watching the landscape pass by.  You can walk over to the cabin,
  3. [00:04:04] <~Aori_Radidjiu> or try looking around below-deck.  There's not really anyone hanging out on the deck but you right now.
  4. [00:09:34] <Melon> Melanie immediately begins to assume one of the many End-of-the-world scenarios she's read about is finally coming to pass before realizing that the giant ball of death is not particularly new. She begins to stand up but FUCK IT'S HOT and FUCK THAT WAS A TERRIBLE PLACE TO SLEEP, leading to all sorts of cracking and popping. She works her way below-deck, hoping to escape the tyranny of
  5. [00:09:34] <Melon> the sun, panting with each step and trying her damnedest to successfully navigate the stairs/ladder without falling. Not even once does removing unnecessary layers of closing pass her mind.
  6. [00:13:55] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Below-decks, there's some sailors in tanktops and pants playing a game of poker, fanning themselves off, and there's a passage to an area with really compact beds for long voyages.  Maybe there's some kind of bathroom over near the beds?  Who knows.  The sailors look up and notice you, but then go back to their game.
  7. [00:17:56] <Melon> She would totally ask for help, but they're strangers, and they look busy, and they're strangers, and they might laugh at her, and they're strangers. She stumbles to the bed area, looking for...well...anything to cooldown with. Getting out of direct sunlight certainly helps.
  8. [00:20:02] <~Aori_Radidjiu> There's a guy snoring in one of the (tiny) bunks, and there's...a bathroom!  It has a sink and toilet but doesn't seem to have a shower, and a mirror as well.
  9. [00:22:25] <Melon> Drunk with fatigue, she stumbles into the bathroom and flips on the water, attempting to figure out if there is in fact a way to control temperature and if so she begs the water, just a little bit audibly, to be icy like home. But she does not tap her tiny red metaphorical shoes.
  10. [00:23:32] <~Aori_Radidjiu> In the mirror you see that your hair's pretty slick with sweat, doesn't look that good, uuuugh.  Also your sweater is visibly wet in spots from sweat, ewww.  There's cold water, but it's not icy cold, just a little cold, but it feels greeeeaaaat.
  11. [00:25:32] <Melon> Melanie suddenly remembers how temperature works and peels off her coat, boots, and gloves, a process belabored by the sticky sweat. Ew. She also rolls up/down everything that rolls to maximize air flow. WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF HELLSCAPE IS THIS?!
  12. [00:25:54] <Melon> With that, she stumbles back up on deck.
  13. [00:27:32] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Well, that's...better.  Still pretty hot though.  Your face hurts a bit, looked a little pink in the mirror.  Egh, is that sunburn?  You see that there's an island in view of the boat, now, a pretty big one with a bunch of really big buildings, way bigger than home.  There's a few sailors moving around and managing a few things.
  14. [00:31:31] <Melon> With a sigh, she leans over the edge, fantasizing how nice it must be inside of a pokeball. She read about this one article where a person got trapped in a pokeball and it was like a full bar and disco and spa in there. No, wait, that one was a hoax. She suddenly realizes that the sudden activity must mean they're almost at their destination and wanders over to the cabin to look for
  15. [00:31:32] <Melon> someone to tell her what to do.
  16. [00:39:55] <~Aori_Radidjiu> After a few moments, the guy you recognize as the captain (what was his name again) sees you and walks up to you.  "You look like hell, we're almost at Conch.  If you want to help out, there's some of my men checking out the cargo belowdecks to make sure it's properly secured, it's not a hard job, just check to make sure all the knots on the ropes holding things together aren't coming
  17. [00:39:55] <~Aori_Radidjiu> loose."
  18. [00:40:51] <~Aori_Radidjiu> (I spent like 10 minutes being distracted and then doing impromptu research on ship jobs, go me)
  19. [00:42:00] <Melon> She stares into his eyes, paying considerable attention to trying to remember his name instead of listening to what he's saying but catches the tail-end. "Ah...but...um...what do I do if they are coming loose?"
  20. [00:43:01] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "How good are you at tying knots?"  He's awfully patient.
  21. [00:46:21] <Melon> "Um...l-like the ones where you loop them over and through the triangle a few times?" She tries to simulate her description with her fingers. Hopefully she isn't successful. But she hopes it's clear she means the only knot that most people can tie.
  22. [00:47:14] <~Aori_Radidjiu> This captain (young, in his 30s, dark skin, black hair, built lean) ruffles his hair a bit.  "Tell you what.  Can you make coffee?
  23. [00:47:16] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "
  24. [00:49:27] <Domovoi> ((oh i see, she gets the nice strapping captain))
  25. [00:49:58] <Melon> "A-Aren't the instructions on the coffee mix?" Like any reasonable person that keeps a terrible sleep cycle in order to look up random things on the computer, she's always used Focus Energy drinks to keep herself awake.
  26. [00:54:52] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "...right.  Our Engineering Cadet had to call off sick for this voyage, so we don't have a devoted person for making coffee or tea or other drinks, so it'd be appreciated if you could do that, and maybe watch what the others are doing to try and learn something, since you're going to be working on ships soon, from what I hear."
  27. [00:56:59] <Melon> "Oh, I thought I was going to be working and on a ship, not working on ships..." Looking a mite bewildered, she sighs. "So, then, where's the coffee maker? And how much should I make?"
  28. [00:58:13] <~Aori_Radidjiu> He leads you below decks, past where the sailors were playing poker to the cargo area, where there's a little kitchenette nearby with a coffee maker.  "Here, go make me two cups, to start."
  29. [01:01:41] <Melon> Having never prepared a cup of coffee in her life, she hopes against all hope that the directions are sufficient and sets about to doing what this unfortunate woman unfortunately does best on this ship: preparing a drink.
  30. [01:03:54] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Flash forward an hourish later, you've made so much coffee, for never having made coffee before in your life.  You might've even actually tried out the coffee, who knows, although a warm drink in such hot weather is ugh.  It seems the ship has made it ot the docks, and you're not really required anymore so they're letting you go off ahead, where there's going to be someone to escort
  31. [01:03:54] <~Aori_Radidjiu> you to your hotel room!
  32. [01:07:44] * Melon disembarks, pulling some serious luggage with her, unfortunately all full of completely useless clothing. She walks in her socks, but even then the ground is painfully hot. The sleeves of her sweater have been torn open to allow for more air flow. She awkwardly sits off to the side, presumably looking a truly horrifying sight that would send children running to their mothers,
  33. [01:07:44] * Melon and twiddles her thumbs while looking around for any kind of indication of where to go.
  34. [01:08:55] <~Aori_Radidjiu> The docks are full of activity, wtih lots of people unloading cargo, undergoing inspections, passenger ships unloading tons of people (unfortunately, there weren't any passenger ships nearby to pick you up, and they go slow anyway) and there's...oh god it's that Man in Black that you saw before you went on this ship.  Why'd he take a seperate ship or whatever he did, anyway?  It's really
  35. [01:08:55] <~Aori_Radidjiu> strange, when you think about it.
  36. [01:10:08] <~Aori_Radidjiu> He's looking right at you, actually.
  37. [01:10:32] <Melon> Strange. Really strange. Excitingly strange! She hastens toward him, her weary pace slightly mitigated by the intrigue.
  38. [01:12:02] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "I will escort you to your hotel.  Come."  He starts walking, at a pace you can just manage to keep up with, leading you past the docks, to a busy street, where there's a fancy black car that he leads you to, loading your luggage in the back, and he takes you for a bit of a drive.
  39. [01:14:12] <Melon> Melanie peers out the window the entire time, excited by how different the surroundings are from the constant blanket of white at home. She now understands why people are half-naked all the time, but it's still kind of weird.
  40. [01:17:33] <~Aori_Radidjiu> The MIB is quiet the entire drive, as you pass by busy streets full of cars, some offshoot roads full entirely of pedestrians, and even a few outdoor street markets!  Soon enough, though, the MIB drives into a parking garage, eventually finding a space and stopping.  "Your room is 417, do you think you'll need help finding it?"  He says this without turning around or opening his door,
  41. [01:17:33] <~Aori_Radidjiu> although he's unlocked the car so you can get out and also popped the trunk to retrieve your luggage.
  42. [01:19:08] * Melon shakes her head and quietly slips out a "Nope." She scrambles out, retrieves her luggage, and hauls off for the lobby, pretending like she knows where she's going!
  43. [01:21:30] <~Aori_Radidjiu> You'd been given a keycard fo rthis place before you even got on the boat, so there's no problem there.  Wandering around the first floor, you see all the rooms there are marked with a "1xx" (x being variable), so presumably the first digit is the floor it's on?  There's a busy elevator being used by lots of people, and there's a much less used set of escalators going up stairs.
  44. [01:21:30] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Presumably, carrying luggage up normal stairs would be a pain in the ass, so that's out of the question.
  45. [01:22:11] <Melon> (Well-played)
  46. [01:25:14] <Melon> The awkward girl starts heading toward the elevator for realizing how many people there are and in such close proximity and backs off. She then heads for the stairs but stops short upon remembering her suitcase of useless things that should probably be abandoned anyway but doesn't for sentimental reasons. Finally, she attempts to drag the over-sized luggage with her onto the escalator,
  47. [01:25:14] <Melon> but only after staring at it awkwardly for a while, and then spending more than a few seconds timing her entrance hopefully perfectly for stepping on.
  48. [01:26:19] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Well, you're on, at least!  No problems here.  You'll just have to go up like, three of these to get to the top.
  49. [01:27:38] * Melon repeats the process, steadily less awkward each time until reaching the top and wanders about looking for her room.
  50. [01:30:20] <~Aori_Radidjiu> It takes a bit of meandering along, going around a few people in the halls.  Man is it weird seeing girls in tube tops.  And so many guys not wearing shirts at all.  Makes you wonder if anyone around here actually has a "No shoes no shirt no service" policy.
  51. [01:30:33] <~Aori_Radidjiu> But eventually, you find 417!  Woohoo!
  52. [01:32:41] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Your key card pops it open to reveal a small room, with a nice comfy bed, a full bathroom with an actual shower, a nightstand near the bed for clothes and the like, a window, a TV, a lamp, a coffee maker, and oh god is that adjustable AC
  53. [01:39:35] <Melon> Do they just die off like bugs in the winter and return in the spring. No offense, Ado, if you happen to be telepathic. And if it works through pokeballs. She steps through and discovers rooms in hellscapes are pretty comfortable. She imagines that's what living on the moon would be like, except instead of everything being boiling lava hot it would just be airless. She quietly squees to
  54. [01:39:35] <Melon> herself in delight and takes a shower at what must be one temperature above Heart-Stopping. There probably wasn't an icon of a heart going into cardiac arrest on the temperature selection dial. Afterwards, and only after considerable deliberation, she changes into an outfit designed for sleeping in at home: clearly of pajama design but home being the arctic kind of means it still covers
  55. [01:39:36] <Melon> the entire body and probably makes for pretty agreeable clothing in more moderate climates. Of course, because they are pajamas, it's full of pink hearts and animated ponytas from that cartoon. You know the one. Attempting to stave off SOME of the shame, she quickly has Sleight use his claws to cutt off the feety parts of the pajamas and keeps them attached to her feet with some Spinarak
  56. [01:39:39] <Melon> thread, recalling both with a thanks.
  57. [01:40:25] <Melon> (Does that cut off? It's been a while since I've typed anything of considerable length in a single entry and have no clue how this client handles it D:)
  58. [01:42:01] <~Aori_Radidjiu> (naw, it all went through)
  59. [01:43:54] <~Aori_Radidjiu> WELL!  Your infocard thing basically informed you that you're gonna' be staying about three days here before you have to attend the main orientation meeting, so now you have to figure out how you're going to spend that time!
  60. [01:46:11] <Melon> She heads back out, attempting to be confident in looking like a homeless person, chanting all sorts of random positive reinforcement messages to herself in her head as she sets down the stairs. She then realizes those weren't stairs as she missteps onto the escalator and slides down 7 steps before catching herself, immediately hoping that no one was paying attention enough to hear her
  61. [01:46:11] <Melon> yelp, and exiting the escalator in shame. She descends the remaining floors by the REAL stairs and timidly approaches the help desk.
  62. [01:47:06] <~Aori_Radidjiu> (just as planned)
  63. [01:47:59] <~Aori_Radidjiu> At the help desk is a young lady about your age with brown skin, wearing a short-sleeved red uniform with a pretty short skirt, although she's definitely more dressed than a lot of people here.
  64. [01:49:40] <Melon> If it's one of those waist-high desks, then damn the luck, but if it's one of those higher, deep-set types she would step as close to the desk as possible to hide her clothes. "Um...excuse me..." Eye contact is not made.
  65. [01:51:07] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Waist high, let me drink your tears.  She looks up from whatever she was looking at on the other side of the desk and addresses you.  "Hello!  How may I help you?"
  66. [01:51:28] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Her eyes flicker to your pajamas but if she's judging you she doesn't say it.
  67. [01:54:07] <Melon> She is, I know she is, just look at how pretty she is, she must be judging me! ...bitch! No, that's mean... "Um...could you tell me where...I can, um, buy some clothes? And what clothes I should buy so I don't just melt?"
  68. [01:59:03] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Her eyes light up!  "Oh, I see!  Um...well, I was actually about to get off work, so if you want I could go show you around myself!"  You don't know if she's pitying you for being such a lost cause or jsut wanted someone to shop with.
  69. [02:00:09] <Melon> She wants to say 'no' and run away in terror, but she has to pretend to be a pirate soon, and from everything she read about them, they don't do that. "O-Okay."
  70. [02:03:12] <~Aori_Radidjiu> She gives you a basic explanation of when she's getting off (in like half an hour), and tells you to hang around here until then, and so you're stuck there, until she gets relieved by another help desk helper person and then comes up in...a camisole and hotpants.  Huh.  "There's a little mall down the street from here, I'll lead you over~! Oh, I'm Eliza Haukea, by the way, what's your
  71. [02:03:13] <~Aori_Radidjiu> name?"
  72. [02:05:31] <Melon> She continues to avoid eye contact, hoping her blushing is hidden by the sunburn. SHE'S TOTALLY JUST IN HER UNDERPANTS, WHAT?! "Melanie."
  73. [02:05:54] <Melon> "F-From Snowpoint." She adds.
  74. [02:07:20] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "Oh, that place with lots of snow?  I've never seen snow, myself, must be pretty cool!  That's why you're getting new clothes, right?"  She's leading you out the door, down the street.  Oh god there's people here, so many, and you probably stand out soooo muuuuch.
  75. [02:09:23] <Melon> Only now does Melanie realize she could have just had Zorua make an illusion of herself wearing local clothing. "Y-Yeah, nothing I had was safe to wear here. Literally." She mumbles something about people here getting frostbite back home. Maximum shame felt.
  76. [02:11:35] <Melon> "W-Wait, so you've never made a Snowman or a Snowmon?" Fortunately curiosity masquerades as being friendly sometimes.
  77. [02:18:08] <Melon> "I broke a toaster once to work as a heater once...oh and I once felt the biting cold of wind on my skin as I walked in snow barefoot." She scratches her head. "I guess that one happened a few times. And probably don't count..." She stares at the clothing. "Is it all so...um...revealing in Wakino?"
  78. [02:20:47] <~Aori_Radidjiu> She nods!  "That's what's in!  And besides, it is practical, considering the heat we get!"
  79. [02:21:51] <Melon> "But then this happens!" She pokes her cheek and winces a bit.
  80. [02:23:19] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "That's what sunscreen is for, I can hook you up with some of that!  And probably some aloe lotion for the burn you already have, and, hm..."  It looks like she's scrutinizing you all over.
  81. [02:24:07] <Melon> "I didn't even know you could get snowburn from the sun!"
  82. [02:24:33] * Melon immediately regrets saying that.
  83. [02:24:35] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "It's called 'sunburn', silly, and more people have to deal with it than...snowburn?  That's a thing?"
  84. [02:25:30] <Melon> "Uh..er...yeah...when you're out like skiing, if you don't cover up your face it can happen if you're out long enough. But I guess it's probably just the snow reflecting the sun..."
  85. [02:26:26] <Melon> "But I never really...did that...so I never had it happen."
  86. [02:26:38] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "Huh."  She tilts her head.
  87. [02:28:46] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "Anyway, see anything you like?  I could help you out with these things, if you want!  Personally, I think I need a new tubetops and halters, my old ones are getting too tight, I think I'm gaining weight."  She sighs.
  88. [02:30:19] <Melon> Yep, I know that response. It's the 'I'm judging you so hard' definition of 'huh.' "If you're gaining weight, does that mean you were literally a stick before? You look like you'd need more layers than I do if you lived further north." She pauses. "So...why is the underwear section of this store so big?"
  89. [02:30:51] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "These are actual clothes, honey~"
  90. [02:31:20] <Melon> "So...you haven't been parading around in your undies like some kind of weirdo?"
  91. [02:32:14] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "What do you guys even dress like?  Do you wear jackets all the time, or...?"
  92. [02:33:05] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "Like, is what you're wearing standard wear there, or something?"
  93. [02:33:18] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "The Ponyta are cute, by the way~"
  94. [02:35:00] <Melon> "Or we get frostbite. And maybe hypothermia. Unless it's summer and we're lucky, then it's just several layers of long sleeves. What I'm wearing..." Her voice waivers briefly, "...what I'm wearing was intended to be worn with other layers often, not if I was lucky, which was rare." My Little Ponytas is for children and I know it. "Everyone stared at me our entire trip over, didn't they."
  95. [02:35:00] <Melon> No upward inflection needed.
  96. [02:36:35] <Vandaeron> (inb4 I throw in a skeevy bronyta that tries to buy the pajamas off her)
  97. [02:37:08] <Melon> (Super effective! Melanie fainted!)
  98. [02:37:46] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "A few, yeah, although nobody's going to judge you for wearing something silly like that.  It was more because you were wearing clothes in a style that's pretty out there for here!  Nobody wears full body suits unless they're businessmen who are going into a building that has AC on full-blast, after all!"
  99. [02:39:36] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "Actually covering your arms or lower legs is pretty rare here, and both at the same time is unheard of unless you're a businessman like I mentioned.  Although sailors tend to dress a bit more warmly, usually only if there's a storm.  I think.  Maybe.  I'm not a sailor, after all."
  100. [02:39:55] <Vandaeron> (Also I'm totally writing Mack's history stuff as him narrating it.)
  101. [02:40:05] <~Aori_Radidjiu> (I love you)
  102. [02:40:15] <~Aori_Radidjiu> (That's one of the best ways to do it)
  103. [02:41:05] <Melon> She's lying to make me feel better. Well, it's working. "I can't get rid of the feeling that is all looks like underwear to me, but I'm assuming this isn't all some elaborate joke and I'll trust you. What do you think I should wear? Oh, more specifically, what would..." How should one phrase this? It must be absolutely perfect to avoid suspicion. "...what would a pirate wear?" Nailed
  104. [02:41:05] <Melon> it. She's still assuming everyone down here deals with pirates like all of the goddamn time, much like shoveling snow in the north. Except with theft and armed robbery and some murder. And probably kidnapping. So a little less hostile than snow.
  105. [02:42:52] <Melon> (*one of the best ways to do it when you're James Earl Jones, Jeff Bridges, Gideon Emery, etc.)
  106. [02:43:22] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "Pirates?"  She thinks a bit, tilting her head.  "Well, I haven't met any real pirates, but from what I've seen on the news they don't dress all that differently from normal people.  Some of them dress a bit skeevier, though, like tubetops and hot pants at the same time!"  She says this like it's some kind of mortal sin, although you guess it makes sense since that'd be like, pretty
  107. [02:43:22] <~Aori_Radidjiu> much underwear.
  108. [02:46:23] * Melon looks at the names of some of the nearby articles of clothing, mostly trying to get a feel for what specifically camisoles, tubetops, and hot pants. "So...they'd dress like you but without the straps over the arms?"
  109. [02:47:11] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "And the belly showing."
  110. [02:49:53] <Melon> How l-lewd! Okay, well it's hardly that different from how Eliza herself is dressed, but apparently it's enough? Apparently belly buttons are still private here? "I don't really know what I'm doing, could you pick me out a few outfits, please?" Apparently the pajamas are still pretty warm and she looks quite tired.
  111. [02:50:41] <~Aori_Radidjiu> "Sure!  Just tell me your sizes for things and I'll start getting things together, then!"
  112. [02:52:10] <Melon> Melanie blinks and gives the scant sizes required for wearing things like coats and sweaters that only require the simple S, M, L, etc. scale, rather than the arcane divinations that include such abberations as 'Size 0.'
  113. [02:52:58] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Eliza blinks a few times.  "Oh, I see, getting a tight fit isn't as important where you come from..."
  114. [02:54:09] <Melon> "Nope, it's pretty much like wearing a bunch of blan- wait, you're clothing isn't comfortable like that?"
  115. [02:55:00] <Vandaeron> (*your)
  116. [02:55:14] <Melon> (Holy damn)
  117. [02:55:33] <Melon> (How did I even do that)
  118. [02:56:18] <~Aori_Radidjiu> She pesters someone working there for a measuring...line...thing...the ones you use for measuring people.  "Well, it's comfortable, but not in the same way!  It'd be more like...it's comfortable in that it doesn't get in the way, like you're barely wearing anything at all!  Um, anyway, I hope you don't mind if I measure you up?  Er, that includes the bust, so I hope you...don't...mind...or
  119. [02:56:18] <~Aori_Radidjiu> you could measure yourself if you want..."
  120. [02:56:39] <Melon> (You mean measuring tape?)
  121. [02:56:49] <~Aori_Radidjiu> (It IS tape?  Somehwo that didn't seem right)
  122. [02:57:00] <~Aori_Radidjiu> (I dunno' why.)
  123. [02:57:05] <Melon> (It doesn't do any of the normal ta- holy fucking deja vu)
  124. [02:57:27] <Melon> (I swear this has happened before...)
  125. [02:57:44] <~Aori_Radidjiu> (Weird!)
  126. [02:58:52] <Melon> Well...a...pirate wouldn't...back out. "Um...go...go right ahead." The blush defeats the sunburn this time. The pirates also got scurvy, what the fuck was I thinking?
  127. [03:02:50] <~Aori_Radidjiu> She quickly gets your measurements, as painlessly as possible, and then gets a variety of the rather scant clothing items and draaaags you off to the dressing room to try them on.  "Lemme' know if you need any help getting things on, I'll be looking for stuff for myself!"
  128. [03:05:10] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Tube tops, camisoles, sleeveless t-shirts, hot pants, various shorts, and then there's some onepieces, mostly sundresses.  Huh.
  129. [03:08:34] <Melon> "Thank you..." She goes through the pile, trying things on. They're generally not uncomfortable, but they certainly aren't like a warm blanket in the cold. Speaking of cold, why the hell didn't she catch an ice type before coming down here? Oh, well most of them would probably have significant health problems and maybe die, but some of them are probably like portable AC units. She
  130. [03:08:34] <Melon> eventually steps out of the dressing room in a sundress, because it's the least like underwear. Unless Wakino is weirder than expected.
  131. [03:10:53] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Naw, it's not.  Eliza gives you a smile before going into a dressing room yourself, leaving you alone to go pay for what you want to keep and at free reign for a bit~
  132. [03:10:58] <~Aori_Radidjiu> er
  133. [03:11:00] <~Aori_Radidjiu> *herself
  134. [03:11:08] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Not yourself, hurr, you just got out.
  135. [03:11:26] <Melon> (Eliza is actually my alter ego)
  136. [03:13:01] * Melon drags her haul to the register to pay. She isn't completely alright with most of the choices, but it's between them, ponies, and dying. Maybe heat stroke isn't a bad way to go?
  137. [03:14:24] <~Aori_Radidjiu> No matter where you shop, clothes still are priced like clothes.  Good thing your parents gave you some extra money for this sort of thing.
  138. [03:15:56] * Melon just now realizes she had no idea if Wakino used the same currency or not and gives a bit of a crazed smile about lucking out.
  139. [03:17:06] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Considering Wakino's relationship with the Kantonese, it makes sense for them to use the same currency.  DEFINITELY lucky.
  140. [03:18:37] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Well, at least you have clothes that don't stick out so much anymore!
  141. [03:19:12] <Melon> A war now rages within Melanie on whether she should flee now while her savior is preoccupied, to never trouble her again, possibly sneaking out of the hotel when it's time to go on the chance that she's working or to remain and possibly make a new friend. The more sociable side wins on account of it being something a pirate might do if there was something to be gained, and some people
  142. [03:19:12] <Melon> say the whole friendship thing is pretty cool, so she waits awkwardly near the dressing rooms.
  143. [03:21:42] <~Aori_Radidjiu> Eliza pops out after a few minutes, wearing a tube top and longer shorts this time, so as not to look outright slutty.  "Oh, wow, that's a pretty good look for you, Mel!"  She's shortening your name and you haven't known her for more than an hour.  Whoa.  She takes her things and pays for them, and then heads back with you to the hotel.  She's not living here or anything, but it's
  144. [03:21:42] <~Aori_Radidjiu> good form to escort th eone more unfamiliar with the are home, eh?
  145. [03:30:19] <Melon> "Um...thanks again for helping me. Without you I'd probably be wandering around dazed in the heat, or wearing the ponies like a crazy person." She's keeping them, don't judge her. Also, wordsplosion time. "I'm only going to be here for a few days so if you want to hang out or whatever Wakinites...Wakinians...Wakinoans...whatever you people do, that's cool." She seems to be talking even
  146. [03:30:19] <Melon> faster now. "But after that I'm going off to go pretend to be a pirate, and wow I really shouldn't have told you that, so don't tell anyone, not that it would really matter because they don't know me, and it's been a while since I've really had real friends, or really talked that much with anyone, so this has been really cool, unless it was awkward for you, then just never talk to me
  147. [03:30:19] <Melon> again and I'll sit in my room the next few days, but it's still really hot and I need a water-type..." Seriously, is she breathing? "...and his name was Melvin and he..." Apparently my pseudo-narrator powers interrupted something. "...and that's why I don't like the nickname 'Mel.' Anyway, thanks and bye!" She runs off to her room. Fortunately, it's hard to trip up an escalator because
  148. [03:30:24] <Melon> you can always just beast mode it.
  149. [03:31:46] <Melon> Guess northerns really do talk faster than southerners.
  150. [03:33:17] <~Aori_Radidjiu> She nods along with the whole thing and gives you a "Bye!" as you leave, before you spaghetti out of there.
  151. [03:33:36] <~Aori_Radidjiu> As you reach the solace of your room, we fade out because holy shit it is 4:30 in the morning
