  1. WATERVILLE — Three people were rescued Tuesday from a remote area in Douglas County after spending two days stranded in a truck.
  2.
  3. The group was stuck roughly 16 miles southeast of Waterville at the intersection of Road 5 SW and Road A SW — a primitive, unplowed road, according to a news release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
  4.
  5. “They found themselves in pretty deep snow and ended up high-centering in the deep snow,” said Sheriff Kevin Morris in an interview.
  6.
  7. The details of their ordeal are, at this point, muddled. It’s unclear what they were doing in the area to begin with, Morris said, but two of the men were riding in the truck when they got stuck on Sunday and then they called a friend who drove to their location and became stuck himself.
  8.
  9. The three men, ages 41-58 and all from the Wenatchee Valley, used the truck to keep warm, but didn’t call authorities for help until 5:15 a.m. Tuesday.
  10.
  11. “I think they were hesitant to call for help,” Morris said.
  12.
  13. Undersheriff Tyler Caille responded to the truck by snowmobile and learned one of the men had left on foot in an attempt to find help, Morris said. He was found 1.5 miles from the truck.
  14.
  15. All three were safely rescued around 9 a.m. Tuesday. One man was transported to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for evaluation, but none are believed to have sustained serious injuries, according to the press release.
  16.
  17. Crews from Douglas County Fire District 5 and 1 also helped in the rescue.
