- sometimes i wish i was a cherry tree
- with bounty hanging crimson from my boughs
- they'd teem in thousands, each one full of life
- like fish-eggs spawned beneath the heartless waves
- their weight would make my limbs all ache and groan
- i wouldn't mind a bit - this load would be
- no burden, but a joyous thing to bear
- a proud reminder that i was alive
- with any luck, i'd spread a crop of seeds
- my progeny would scatter far and wide
- i couldn't nurture them, but only hope
- that they grew tall and strong, and made me proud
