  1. [05:33:22]
  2. Hmm...Day, you there?
  3.
  4. [05:33:54] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  5. yep
  6.
  7. [05:34:18]
  8. Do you tend to have a good work ethic?
  9.
  10. [05:34:37] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  11. I would like to think so. Why?
  12.
  13. [05:35:10]
  14. I dont think i really have a good one..at all.
  15.
  16. [05:35:20]
  17. I just feel alienated by a thought of a job.
  18.
  19. [05:36:13]
  20. It feels like getting one will be the end of my carefree life.
  21.
  22. [05:36:27]
  23. Well, end of my 'life' to be honest.
  24.
  25. [05:36:57] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  26. Basically, jobs suck. You just need to find an aspect of the job that you believe in and own it. Once you start owning part of your job, it's not as much of a chore.
  27.
  28. [05:37:55]
  29. It does feel like the world just wants me to be nothing but an office monkey making money for a cigar chomping lardlord.
  30.
  31. [05:39:27] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  32. I can't say much for or against that. People in general suck sometimes. But an individual can be an off the charts great person.
  33.
  34. [05:40:37]
  35. When i ask about life to my dad, he just tells me that we get born, find someone to screw, make children and die.
  36.
  37. [05:40:45]
  38. I just cant believe that.
  39.
  40. [05:40:52] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  41. Just keep in mind that you likely can't get the job of your dreams, per se. You need to get relevant experience in most cases, and working a mundane job provides opportunities for that learning to take place.
  42.
  43. [05:42:13] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  44. Look, your life is what you make it. Self-fulfilling prophecies happen more than you'd think.
  45.
  46. [05:43:20] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  47. So if you want your life to be more than just spawning underlings, strive to make that change in your life. It'll happen eventually if you try hard enough.
  48.
  49. [05:43:47]
  50. I hope so, i really hope so.
  51.
  52. [05:44:10]
  53. I seem to get shoehorned into Volunteering work anyways..
  54.
  55. [05:47:53]
  56. And most of the 'opportunities' seem to be 'Administration and Office Work'
  57.
  58. [05:47:57]
  59. *sigh*
  60.
  61. [05:48:44] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  62. What kind of work would you rather do? Have you thought that far ahead?
  63.
  64. [05:49:13]
  65. I know that i dont want to be stuck in an office for the rest of my life.
  66.
  67. [05:49:53]
  68. And lately, i've been feeling in a mentorial mood, it just happens whenever i see someone that needs help, a lil mental nudging in the back of my head tells me to 'do the right thing'
  69.
  70. [05:50:20] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  71. What makes you happy? Any hobbies? --Dude, you
  72.
  73. [05:50:46] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  74. fak, typing in the dark isn't working out tonight.
  75.
  76. [05:52:37]
  77. I suppose its the feeling of...using WoW as an example, seeing that lvl 10 or so Warrior you helped, teaching him how to tank and such, become the Main Tank of a high end raiding guild and achieve world firsts..
  78.
  79. [05:52:39] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  80. --Dude, you're doing pretty well towards making your own life if you're following those instincts. Means you've been taught better than being a mindless <lost my train of thought, something meaningful went here>. I'd keep that up.
  81.
  82. [05:53:21] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  83. What kind of town setting are you in? Rural?
  84.
  85. [05:53:34]
  86. Village, yeah, its rather rural.
  87.
  88. [05:53:48]
  89. There is an industrial estate, but apart from that, its rural.
  90.
  91. [05:54:37] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  92. Have you considered persuing something like a counselor? Helping people as a part of your job?
  93.
  94. [05:56:44]
  95. The thought has crossed my mind a few times..
  96.
  97. [05:56:57]
  98. But i tend to wonder afterwords where i want to go with that.
  99.
  100. [05:58:17] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  101. Alternatively (and this is going to sound strange) a salesman for some business? I found a lot of fulfillment in helping people find what they were looking for, what they needed.
  102.
  103. [05:59:20]
  104. My dad WOULD probably flip at that thought, but its a good idea.
  105.
  106. [05:59:39]
  107. You dont want to know what he does to Domino's Bangor facebook page.
  108.
  109. [06:03:30]
  110. Did you remember what the <lost my train of thought, something meaningful went here> part was yet?
  111.
  112. [06:04:29] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  113. Just things to think about. I'd be lying if I said I knew exactly what you should do. Nope, it was supposed to be a single noun, that would express the general population -- no, the workforce in a negative tone.
  114.
  115. [06:05:14]
  116. Sheep?
  117.
  118. [06:05:49] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  119. I had considered sheep, but wasn't sure it was strong enough a term.
  120.
  121. [06:05:56]
  122. Lemmings?
  123.
  124. [06:06:07] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  125. That would be more fitting.
  126.
  127. [06:07:56]
  128. I'll see if i can bring this up to the job centre next time i go, should be an appointment this month.
  129.
  130. [06:19:04]
  131. Also, i've been helping this newbie out in Mabinogi, some of the other people in the server thought he was beyond help..
  132.
  133. [06:19:20]
  134. But i've taught him how to run a farm, so at least he has a form of income.
  135.
  136. [06:21:30] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  137. Yeah, that's the kind of thing I would bring up with job counselors or future employers. Not necessarily that this happen in a videogame, but that you feel the need to help people succeed.
  138.
  139. [06:23:15]
  140. I'm hoping to see if i can get anywhere else with him when i see him again.
  141.
  142. [06:29:02] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  143. I hope you do too. I'm positive there's an occupation out there that will suit you and you will enjoy. It's just a matter of finding it and getting your foot in the door.
  144.
  145. [06:29:43] [5.47.109.43 - Stryker-Lappy]
  146. Well, it's really well past the time I should have signed off and went to bed. Talk to you later.
  147.
  148. [06:29:52]
  149. Yeah, i'll see you later.
