  1. > 1. As far as I know, BlazeDS was used for the AMF, is that true? Why was AMF used at all? Wouldn't it have been safer without?
  2.
  3. Back in a days AMF was standard format for communication between Flash and Backend. As far as I remember we switched to JSON in Pet races, but basically since AMF worked for us we didn’t change it, and we never had any issues also. On the backend side we used Spring Flex that let us expose services seamlessly to Flash client.

  5. > 2. Why was it always called "com.pandaland"? Do you know why?
  6.
  7. Perhaps that was the name for Panfu before it went live. When I joined the team it was already called Panfu, I guess we never changed the package names.
  8.
  9. > 3. Why did the updates on Panfu stop by 2014? The chat was deactivated, the company was bankrupt. What went wrong?
  10.
  11. In 2012 company expanded from making only browser games to mobile games as well and this is where a lot of focus went. I can’t really tell why the company was shut down and what exactly went wrong. I left Panfu at the end of 2012.
  12.
  13. > 4. Flash is being outdated in 2020. Have you ever considered switching to HTML5 or Unity? What would have been the choice, HTML5 or Unity?
  14.
  15. Switching to HTML5/Unity would mean rewriting the whole client side of Panfu - meaning big effort and lots of money. In 2011/2012 it wasn’t yet that clear that Flash will be deprecated and HTML5 was in it’s early stage of adoption. Today I am sure that we wouldn’t choose Flash anymore.
  16.
  17. > 5. Were new things planned, such as new rooms or quests, before the closure? Maybe even a new UI? And were you in contact with the designers and the client developer?
  18.
  19. No idea. When I was there I was working closely with flash developers, if you have some questions about flash side I can point you to the lead developer - I don’t promise though he will answer 😉
  20.
  21. > 6. When did you enter Goodbeans and when did you leave it? How was your time there?
  22.
  23. I joined Young Internet in September 2009. Yes, it wasn’t called Goodbeans then. We changed the name in 2011 as far as I remember. Like in every job there were ups and downs but in general I enjoyed this time and I also learned a lot.
  24.
  25. > 7. Were you responsible for the homepage? If so, did you use an own system for it? (apart from Wordpress for the blog)
  26.
  27. Nope, that was someone else and I cannot remember now if it was wordpress or custom software. It was definitely done in PHP though.
  28.
  29. > 8. Did you have access to the database? Did you work on it?
  30.
  31. Yes.
  32.
  33. > 9. On a video you could see a moderation tool. Did you work with that as well, how exactly did it work? Were the chats all stored in the database?
  34.
  35. Chat wasn’t stored in database. Moderation Client was connecting to the game servers in similar way as flash client just it was able to see all the messages sent in all locations + it had some commands to kick, ban, warn etc.
  36.
  37. I found this website - https://beta.panfu.me/ - and there is one Robin in a team. Are you the one? Did you get source code from somewhere or it’s a reverse engineering?
