  1. "Hey girls, you ever wonder why Anon is always alone?"
  2. >Upon hearing your question, all your friends turn their eyes on the green guy in the back.
  3. >He seems to be typing away on a laptop, minding his own business.
  4. >Surprisingly the first one to speak is Rainbow.
  5. >"Well that's a good one Sunset, he's sitting next to me in history but I've never seen him talking to anyone besides me."
  6. >She's followed by Applejack who's wearing a devious grin on her face.
  7. >"Fella might also be retarded, 'cause he asks Rainbow fer help when he didn't' pay attention. Rainbow. Can you imagine that? He could be talkin' to his desk, that'd get him 'bout as far as he gets with her.
  8. >All she gets is a playful jab to the shoulder by an annoyed Rainbow Dash.
  9. >"I am not sure, but I believe I have math with him."
  10. >Says Rarity slowly tapping on her chin.
  11. >Looking at him he seems pretty average.
  12. >Green skin, short brownish hair, blue eyes and a gray hoodie.
  13. >He looks so normal, so why is it you can't think of a time you've seen him with any of the groups?
  14. >"He could be really shy, maybe he doesn't talk to anyone because he's afraid to do so."
  15. "Well Fluttershy, you might be right, we don't know a lot about him. Pinkie?"
  16. >Pulling a notepad out of her hair she checks the list of names in it.
  17. >You won't even ask where that came from, you stopped thinking about that a long time ago.
  18. >Looking over the list Pinkie lets out a short hum.
  19. >"He's been with us for a looong time, I tried throwing a party for him once but he didn't show up. I even fired my party cannon to show how much I wanted to see him!"
  20. >Applejack gives a groan while facepalming over what Pinkie said.
  21. >"My gut's tellin' me he got spooked by your, special, personality, Pinkie"
  22. >You're still staring at Anon, hunched over his laptop he looks focused.
  23. >Maybe you should talk to him, he's probably only using that thing because he's got nothing to do.
  24. "You know what? I think I'm gonna give it a shot."
  25. >Standing up, you head towards his table.
  26.
  27. >Be Anon, morally challenged loner of Canterlot High.
  28. >Your finger is hovering over the submit button and you're trying to come up with reasons not to do what you're about to do.
  29. >Should you do it though? If you send this tip now, the FBI is gonna ruin this guy.
  30. >He has no life at all, police officer with no family, no kids, his parents are dead, no friends either. No one's gonna miss him. It's kinda sad really.
  31. >He's a junkie and pissed of the big bosses, now you're the one who's cleaning it up.
  32. >You really don't want to mess him up, but If you don't do it you're as good as dead.
  33. >They don't want him dead that's for sure, otherwise he would've died long ago.
  34. >If you do as you're told, he's gonna get in jail for a long time, they'll probably sell his stuff to cover his debts, when he comes out he's gonna have nothing.
  35. >Still, being homeless is better than being dead right? The answer is clear.
  36. >Letting out the breath you've been holding you press the button.
  37. >You just trashed his life, but at least you and the guy both get to live for a bit longer.
  38. >You slowly shut down your laptop and put it away.
  39. >Looking down at the table you see the taco on your tray.
  40. >It's taco tuesday and the delicious meaty miracle is just laying there waiting for you.
  41. >Ironically you can't even look at food right now, not after this.
  42. >Pushing it away you lay your head on the table.
  43. >You had no choice right? If you don't do it you're dead and they'd just off the guy, it's easier for them that way.
  44. >What if y-
  45. >"Hi there, you're Anon right? I'm Sunset nice to meet you."
  46. >Looking up you see a red haired girl pulling out a chair from underneath your table.
  47. >"I was wandering what you're up to, you know, I noticed you're always alone and felt kinda bad. about it soo, I came to check on you. Mind if I sit down?"
  48.
  49. >What the. Is she serious? Are you busted? Is she like agent or something?
  50. >She has a bright smile on her face and she gives another table nervous glances every few seconds.
  51. >Looking over you see six girls watching you from far away.
  52. >Well you probably don't have to worry about her, they wouldn't send seven agents just to take out a small time criminal right?
  53. >"Anon are you there? You spaced ou."
  54. >Shaking your head you just realized you have yet to say something to her.
  55. "Oh, uh, sure yeah uh take a seat uh, Sunset."
  56. >Smooth Anon, real smooth, didn't sound like an idiot. Not one bit.
  57. >"Alright thanks, so how's it going? I see you chose taco as well. Granny Smith is a genius if you ask me."
  58. >Jeez, got your tryhard panties on aye? You should get rid of her somehow.
  59. "Everything's all right, I guess? Quiet like always and yeah I wanted taco but now I don't feel like eating, my head kind hurts."
  60. >You tap your head and let out a quiet groan to seem cooperative.
  61. >You have to find a way to get away from this, you really started to feel sick.
  62. >"Uh, you alright? I have some pain killers if you need one, I had problems with sleeping these past few days so I brought some with me in case I get fuzzy again."
  63. >No Sunset, painkillers won't cut it for you, this isn't an ordinary sickness.
  64. "Uhm sure but what kind of pills? I'm sorta allergic to Fenoflex."
  65. >Please let them be Fenoflex please god.
  66. >Your prayers are answered as she deflates a bit.
  67. >"I'm sorry Anon but I guess I don't have anything else on me, you should probably see the nurse if it's too bad. She's like supercool!"
  68. >Ooh? How does she know Redheart so well? You know here because her husband has been in the same situation you are.
  69. "You're right, I think I'm gonna do just that, I honestly feel kind of shit if you don't mind the language."
  70. >Standing up you pick up your bag but Sunset speaks up again.
  71. >"No I don't really mind. Should I come along? This is the most we've ever talked and you seem pretty cool."
  72.
  73. >Standing next to the table you think about your chances.
  74. >If you let her come with you she might get the wrong idea that you're open to ... friending? Is there a word like that?
  75. >Anyways you should turn her down and make Redheart send you home, she'll do it, you know her well.
  76. >Turning back you pretend to feel really bad while stroking your head.
  77. "Sorry Sunset but I think I'll go alone, it's like a minute from here, we could meet up after school though. What do you say?"
  78. >You see her smile grow a bit when she hears you.
  79. >"Of course, that's awesome Anon, see you at the statue then?"
  80. "Sure. See ya."
  81. >With that you give her a wave and leave the cafeteria.
  82. >Walking down the hallway you're headed for the nurse's office.
  83. >The school seems empty around this time, even the corridors feel darker without groups of students running around, it's actually preatty peaceful.
  84. >However you feel panic taking over and your head starts thumping hard.
  85. >You're about halfway there when you duck into the toilet and hide into a booth.
  86. >Hunched over a toilet you let out your stomach's content, nausea takes hold of you body.
  87. >You're shaking horribly even after you flush the toilet.
  88. >When you're done you're just sitting on the ground, looking at the floor.
  89. >You loose track of time, you must've stayed like that for a good five or so minutes.
  90. >That makes what? Four? Just this month? Four lives, gone, Because of you.
  91. >How much more do they want? You have to get away from them somehow.
  92. >If you keep doing this you'll surely go crazy in a year.
  93. >Your legs feel like steel ingots as you get up and walk up to the sink.
  94. >In the mirror you see a shadow of yourself, huge bags under your eyes, you got skinnier as well.
  95. >It's eating away at you, the guilt. There has to be a solution.
  96. >You have the gun at home ... No it's not that bad, it's never that bad.
  97. >Washing your face and mouth you take a few breaths to clear your head and step out to the hallways again.
  98.
  99. >Stepping through the door you see her typing on her computer, you greet her but she doesn't even look at you.
  100. >"Hello there Anonymous, how may I help?"
  101. >You just slump down on a bed next to her.
  102. "I had to do another one Red ... I .. can you send me home for the day?"
  103. >Now she turns to you, you feel the blue orbs drilling into your soul, she stays like this for a few seconds but takes out a note right after and passes it to you.
  104. >"Get some rest, you did what you had to I'm sure, you just have to sort this out, just like the others."
  105. >You take the note and open the door to leave but she speaks up again.
  106. >"You're a good guy Anon, it's hard sometimes I know, but don't let it get to you, maybe, get someone to talk about it, it helped my husband."
  107. >You stand there for a good minute there, she might be right. It sounds nice to just talk about it but ... how ? You give her a dry, grateful smile.
  108. "Thank you Redheart, it means a lot, have a nice day."
  109. >Giving the note to Principal Celestia you're on your way to home a few minutes later.
  110. >Thankfully your flat is like a ten minute walk from school.
  111. >You just want to get home and go to sleep, that'll give you some time to think.
  112. >When you arrive hime you simply toss your stuff on the ground, lock the door and lay down on the bed.
  113. >The soft hum of your computer helps to relax and you feel the world slowly fade away when you close your eyes.
  114.
  115. >Be a furious Sunset Shimmer waiting for that dipshit Anon to come out of school the next day.
  116. >"Sunset, darling you said Anon felt sick. Maybe he was sent home by nurse Redheart. Please calm down and be a lady."
  117. >You heard what she said but you're too angry to care about it. You ARE a lady, well sort of. A really pissed one.
  118. "He should've said something at least."
  119. >You waited for him for hours yesterday, you were right to be pissed.
  120. >Oh yes there he is.
  121. "ANON! WHERE DID YOU GO YESTERDAY?!"
  122.
  123. >Be Anon.
  124. >Surprisingly, after yesterday's shit fest, you feel pretty well.
  125. >Might be because of the almost 17 hours of sleep you got yesterday.
  126. >Getting up after sleeping for so long gave you a horrible headache.
  127. >But after taking some pills you felt pretty okay.
  128. >Eventually, the bad feeling from yesterday disappeared as well.
  129. >It wasn’t the first time and certainly won’t be the last either, you should get used to it.
  130. >After coming to terms with your conscience, making it through the day was as simple as dropping behind while watching a cooking show.
  131. >Do they seriously expect you to have a preheated tray every time you set foot in a kitchen?
  132. >You listen to the soft clapping of your shoes hitting the floor.
  133. >Looking around, you see tired students shuffling towards the exit alongside you.
  134. >It’s Friday, and a normal kid of your age tries to catch up on sleep before going out with their friends.
  135. >You remember having fun with your friends when you were younger.
  136. >When mom and dad were still with you, thing’s were easier back then.
  137. >Bad thoughts Anon, Gandhi would kick your butt for these.
  138. >And now you felt down, you need a distraction.
  139. >Fuck it, tonight, you’re gonna run around naked at home, you’ll order pizza and pay for it without clothes on.
  140. >You’re gonna fire up some vidya as well, it’s Friday, and you’re gonna rock it hard.
  141. >Well, about as hard as your grandma used to rock book clubs on Fridays, but still.
  142. >With a small smile on your face, you step through the large double doors and suck in the clean early winter air.
  143. >It’s quite chilly today.
  144. >The sky looks gray with the sun hiding behind a thick curtain of clouds.
  145. >With a clear mind you take off.
  146. >You have to go shopping too, don’t you dare forget about it.
  147. >Last time your fridge looked like a russian war hero lived with you.
  148. >Butter, bread, and a cucumber.
  149. >As you take out your phone to make a shopping list, you’re interrupted by an unexpected spartan war cry.
  150.
  151. >”ANON! WHERE DID YOU GO YESTERDAY?”
  152. >Looking everywhere at once, you notice Sunset stomping your way like an angry rhino.
  153. >You think you even see steam coming out of her nose.
  154. >Oh boy, you’re in trouble.
  155. >As she gets closer she speaks up.
  156. >”We stayed here for hours, waiting for you to show your sorry ass! Better come up with something, in case you can’t tell, I’m really pissed!”
  157. >Heh, if she didn’t tell you, you wouldn’t have noticed.
  158. >The skin around her nose is wrinkled, you’ve only seen rabid animals do that.
  159. >Why so serious Sunset?
  160. >Okay enough of the jokes Anon, you’re about to get your face remade.
  161. >Think, think, yesterday you went home, felt sick and slept for longer than you care to admit.
  162. >You felt sick … YEAH YOU FELT SICK!
  163. “I’m really sorry Sunset, my headache got pretty bad and Redheart sent me home.”
  164. >She’s so up you’re face, you can practically feel your hips burn as they’re bending at 90 degrees.
  165. >Lucky for you she relaxes a bit, but gets back to she demon mode right again.
  166. >”Nothing can be done about that I guess, but you should have left a message at least!”
  167. >You haven’t thought about that.
  168. >Frankly, you forgot about Sunset and her friends entirely.
  169. >You had … things to take care of.
  170. “Sorry for that as well, honestly, I felt so shit I fell asleep as soon as I got home.”
  171. >She still seems pissed. Maybe …
  172. >You need to say something.
  173. “Hey, what if I invite you all to a shake at Sugarcube Corner as compensation? It’s all on me.”
  174. >Oh boy that does it, as she hears the word “shake”, she melts like butter.
  175. >”Thats … the least you can do. I’m gonna tell the others as well.”
  176. >With that she’s headed back to her group, but you see the skip in her step, she must like shake a lot.
  177. >Can’t blame her for that, you kinda share those feelings with her.
  178. >Looking up you see a few sun rays breaking through a gap between clouds.
  179. >Normally, you wouldn’t even think about going out with others.
  180. >All this shit, just to get away from an argument?
  181. >Trying to avoid conflicts like this ... you definitely have problems.
  182. >What have you got yourself into Anon.
  183.
  184. >Be a really satisfied Sunset.
  185. >After you, uh, kinda made a scene with Anon, he invited all of you to Sugarcube Corner.
  186. >You get to relieve some stress and even get shake.
  187. >Maybe this boyfriend stuff isn’t such bullshit.
  188. >Not like he’s your boyfriend, you didn’t mean it like that but uh, having one might be like this?
  189. >Oh forget about it.
  190. >After talking to the girls, the eight of you headed towards your destination and you just couldn’t wait to get there.
  191. >What should you get?
  192. >The chilly, afternoon air blow through your hair and gently stroked your face.
  193. >God damn you loved winter. Now only if it was snowing.
  194. >You were brought back to earth by a barely audible chuckle.
  195. >Turning back, you caught your friends and Anon, trying to hold their breath.
  196. >When you faced them, they erupted into full on laughing.
  197. “What’s so funny?”
  198. >The first one to collect herself was Rarity, wiping away some tears she cleared her throat.
  199. >”Well, darling you started daydreaming and Anon made this comment about, well, catching you when you took off, and for a moment, it actually seemed like you could do it any second.”
  200. >As you glanced at the others, they were still getting their act together while Anon sported an evil smirk.
  201. >You smug a, you’ll get what’s coming for you.
  202. >Eying him intimidatingly you spun around and started stomping ahead.
  203. “Well, I’m sure it was hilarious but let’s get moving, it’s getting cold.”
  204. >You might have heard a hushed “Oh, she’s pissed”, coming from behind you, but you let it go.
  205. >On they way, you noticed the girl making small talk, with Anon occasionally chipping in.
  206. >He didn’t seem troubled by your little group’s uniqueness.
  207. >Wait! Did he even know about the magic?
  208. >Oh, he wasn’t there yet, was he?
  209. >You spent at least ten minutes, trying to come up with a plan to tell him without freaking him out.
  210. >By the time you jumped down from your train of thoughts you noticed Sugarcube Corner at the end of the street.
  211.
  212. >What if?
  213. “Hey, guys. How about a race? The last one who gets there pays for an extra round.”
  214. >You smile internally as you see your friends jogging next to you.
  215. >And almost start laughing as you notice Anon still standing there dumbfounded.
  216. >You also heard a loud “You can’t be serious”, followed by wheezing but by the time he got there, all of your friends made it to the finish line.
  217. > “That, -huuh, was -huuh, unfair … “
  218. >Said Anon trying to catch his breath.
  219. >Honestly he looked like he just ran a marathon, he must’ve been in pretty bad shape.
  220. >Poor guy almost fell over as Applejack gave him a smack on his back.
  221. >”You’ll get ‘em next time, partner.”
  222. >With that you all entered Sugarcube Corner and after giving your orders to Anon, you went to look for a table.
  223. >None of you wanted to sit outside, that’s really only an option in summer.
  224. >The task at hand proved to be rather problematic though.
  225. >The place was crowded as always.
  226. >No wonder, it was Friday.
  227. >After looking around for a while, you found a large enough booth for everyone to sit down.
  228. >The girls settled in, engaging in conversations in groups of two or three.
  229. >Sitting next to you, Twilight captured your attention as well.
  230. >”So girls, here’s what I’m thinking about. Anon doesn’t really look problematic around others, socially I mean.”
  231. >Fluttershy voiced your thoughts surprisingly well.
  232. >”I agree with you Twillight, he isn’t really scared of us but he still feels … distanced.”
  233. >Rarity noticed the topic and spoke up as well.
  234. >”Absolutely Flutershy, he seems so … far away, if that’s the right word.”
  235. >Then Rainbow spoke up.
  236. >”I think he’s a dork.”
  237. >You cocked an eyebrow at that.
  238. “You barely talked two sentences.”
  239. >The rainbow haired Athlete raised her hands defensively.
  240. >”Chill out Sunset, being a dork doesn’t mean you’re retarded. He’s actually pretty okay, just, weird.”
  241.
  242. >Rarity was next.
  243. >”I can see why you would say that darling, but I believe we haven’t spent enough time with him to decide upon that.”
  244. >You should have joined their conversation on the way here, you wanted to see how he acts around people.
  245. >However, you agreed with Rarity, the guy was pretty mysterious.
  246. >Applejack seemed to support the slower approach of Rarity.
  247. >”Well ah’m sayin’ we wait for the guy ta show his teeth.”
  248. >Everyone seemed to agree with her, and with that they continued gossiping.
  249. >You didn’t join them however.
  250. >Looking around, you took in the lively atmosphere of Sugarcube Corner.
  251. >Every table was occupied by teenagers of your age, you noticed Trixie and her friends in one of the corners.
  252. >She waved at you when your eyes met and you returned the gesture.
  253. >Things weren’t always so calm and peaceful, back when you first stepped into this world yo-
  254. >”All right, I brought all of these here but help me out. Who ordered and what?”
  255. >Wait. He was already back?
  256. >Surely enough, looking over your shoulder you saw Anon approaching the table balancing insane amounts of sweets on his arms.
  257. >You quickly stood up and took some of them earning you a short “Thanks” from him.
  258. “How did you finish so quickly? The line was like several miles long.”
  259. >Passing the others their stuff he gave you a small smile.
  260. >”I used to work here Sunset. When we first moved here, I had to take a part time job to get things straight. Mrs. Cake gave me these out of turn when she saw me. Thinking about it we haven’t met for years.”
  261. >Oh, that explains a lot.
  262. >You started sipping your shake and turned to face Anon who just took a seat next to you.
  263. “So, when did you move here?”
  264. >With a soft sigh he started telling you about his story.
  265. >”Well it all started when I was nine years old … “
  266.
  267. “Up until then, it’s safe to say I had an average life.”
  268. >Taking a sip from your smoothie, you lose yourself in the memories.
  269. “I was born in New York, my mom was a teacher and my father was an engineer at Som and Co. Mom worked hard and dad even harder, now that I think about it, it’s hard to imagine how they managed to spend so much time with me.”
  270. “They loved me and each other that’s for sure. We used to go out on trips every Sunday. I loved those trips, not because of the view or anything, I was too young to appreciate that. I loved going out with them because we ate out every time.”
  271. >You went on and on about how your dad got angry when you took apart the stuff he brought home to work on.
  272. >Your mom almost killed you when you ate the cake she made for your seventh birthday.
  273. >A small smile grew on your face as you told the girls about your time with your parents.
  274. >The good times.
  275. >As you arrived at a certain point however your smile was replaced by a frown.
  276. “As I said, It all lasted until I was nine years old. My dad got fired from the company, and my parents decided we should move to my grandma. Who lived here in Canterlot by the way. She told us one of her friends nephew moved out of town and was selling his place.”
  277. >This is the part where it gets awkward every time.
  278. “Long story short, we had a car accident that day and … well, I was the only one who made it. Since then, I sorta live with my Grandma. She had a stroke a few years back and now she’s in an old people’s home as I was too young to take care of her. That’s the reason I had to take a job here and why Mrs. Cake gave me food from time to time.”
  279. >And there’s the reaction you’ve been waiting for.
  280. >Sad looks and worried glances. Awkward.
  281. “Look, I’ve been through this countless times, you don’t have to tell me you’re there if I need you or anything, it’s okay. It’s been a long time.”
  282.
  283. >Be Sunset Shimmer.
  284. >Be pretty fucking shocked.
  285. >Anon lost his parents. You haven’t seen yours for a long time but at least you knew they’re okay.
  286. >How should you approach this? He said he didn’t want you to treat him differently.
  287. >You should probably focus on what happened afterwards, you can ask him about his parents later.
  288. >You heard stories about some of you classmates meeting Anon as an employee here, but you never really cared much for gossip.
  289. >But it’s true then, wow.
  290. >Wait, he must have been like what, ten years old ?
  291. >What kind of job did he do?
  292. >You wanted to ask him but after you came to, you realized how hard the atmosphere was.
  293. >Everyone sat around without saying anything, Aj even hid behind her hat.
  294. >This is horrible, you wanted to break the silence but suddenly felt so intimidated.
  295. >Please someone, some say something.
  296. >Your prayers have been answered.
  297. >After clearing her throat, Rarity voiced her thoughts.
  298. >”Well, condolences my dear, even if a bit, late. But please do tell me, what happened to your grandma? Do you visit her often? (is condolences the right word here?)
  299. >That’s Rarity, she always finds the words.
  300. >Anons answer felt, relieved ? He seemed like he was holding a breath for a few seconds.
  301. >Probably because of what he said, he was expecting everyone to feel sorry for him.
  302. >”Actually yes, I mean, not all that often but mostly two times a week. Usually we just talk, she enjoys the hell out of that place. She told me she never had so much fun playing bingo and sleeping ‘till noon”
  303. >That little joke was a gift from the heavens, as the tense air seemed to ease up.
  304. >”That’s so awesome dude, I wish my grandma was that chill.”
  305. >Rainbows outburst made you smile and life returned to your little group when Twilight took the lead.
  306. >”Rainbow, you never told us anything about your grandma. What’s she like?”
  307. >With that most of the table turned to the rainbow haired girl.
  308. >Before joining them you spoke to Anon
  309.
  310. “Sorry if we made you uncomfortable. We didn’t know … well, anything really.”
  311. >Anon just shook his head with a smile.
  312. >”No worries, I’m kinda used to it by now. But that was really quick, you already brought up a new topic.”
  313. >He wasn’t wrong, looking at Twilight she winked at you playfully.
  314. >She got a knowing nod and a smile in return, smart girl.
  315. “I think they tried to change the subject so you don’t feel like you’re being questioned.”
  316. >Anon shook his head with a chuckle yet again.
  317. >”No it wasn’t that bad. I mean, sure it’s weird but you know, you girls are the first who didn’t freak out and that’s pretty cool. I didn’t get too much attention, I really don’t need it.”
  318. >At least you didn’t scare him away.
  319. >Sugarcube Corner was buzzing with life, there weren’t empty tables and the sound of cheerful conversation filled the air.
  320. >And, there was the awkward silence again.
  321. >Quick, think of something.
  322. “So uuh, I wanted to ask, you said you used to work here. I can’t really imagine a nine year old working at place like this. What did you do?”
  323. >You could almost hear the grinding gears in his head, as he tried to bring up memories.
  324. >He even stick his tongue out.
  325. >”I can’t really remember, but I think I cleaned up after closing hours and washed plates. I didn’t get too much money out of it, mostly just food. Mrs. Cake knew my grandma and they made a deal or something. I didn’t really care at the time.”
  326. >He gave Mrs. Cake a wave, which she returned with a smile.
  327. >Interesting, he had quite the story.
  328. “Say Anon, how come you never really talk to anyone?”
  329. >You got a puzzled look for an answer.
  330. >You just said that out loud didn’t you?
  331. >Well, might as well keep going then.
  332. “Sorry, I mean. You don’t seem like you have problems with people. Usually, those who don’t talk too much have some kind of social problem. Why are you always alone then?”
  333.
  334. >Be Anon.
  335. >Are you busted? Does she know something?
  336. >Probably no, how would she?
  337. >Quickly, say something before she gets suspicious.
  338. “No uuh, I’m not socially retarded if that’s what you’re asking. I’m not a loner either. I mean, sure I don’t really go out with anyone or talk to people, but that’s because normally I’m in a hurry and in school I’m kinda just catching up on sleep as I have to work a lot.
  339. >She just kept looking at you
  340. >This is so intense, she couldn’t find out about you hiding something right?
  341. >”Well, I understand the busy part but doesn’t it bother you, that they aren’t. You know. Interested?”
  342. >Good question Sunset, does it bother you ?
  343. >Thinking about it, you spent the past few years studying and trying to make a living.
  344. >You managed to pull it off but at what cost?
  345. >A normal life with friends and parties?
  346. >It doesn’t sound bad but could you actually do it at this point?
  347. >Face it Anon, it does bother you.
  348. >You care a great deal, you want friends but you can’t have them, not yet at least.
  349. “No, it isn’t so bad. I mean, I have so much to take care of, being part of a clique would be awesome but I’m not sure I’d have the time.”
  350. >That’s half true.
  351. >Please buy it please.
  352. >”Well, I understand. I was in your shoes a few years back, didn’t have the time either. But promise me if you can spare some, come join us. Even if it’s just in school, you’re welcome in our little group.”
  353. >She believed you AND invited you to their crew?
  354. >Smooth Anon, you’re like a young Morgan Freeman.
  355. >You say something, people believe it.
  356. >You told yourself you aren’t concerned about your social status but god damn it feels good.
  357. >It honestly felt like winning a price.
  358. >A price of sitting with a bunch of immature teenage girls at lunch in high school.
  359. >What a champion you are Anon.
  360. >Shut up, it actually felt awesome, but the small voice in your head still said you shouldn’t do it.
  361.
  362. “Thanks, Sunset. I may not look like it, but I appreciate it a lot. Anyways, should we join the others?”
  363. >With a small smile she turned to face the others.
  364. >You looked outside at first, pondering on what just happened.
  365. >She offered you something you longed for since that awful day.
  366. >Yet you only feel, … fear?
  367. >Should you take up on her offer?
  368. >Let’s just see how this works out.
  369. >As the first snowflakes started falling from the sky, you turned to your new ‘friends’.
  370.
  371. >Be Chryssy, sitting in your office.
  372. >This day started out pretty well but it has gone to shit in a blink of an eye.
  373. >You just got the news, cargo ships to Africa are still stuck on a routine check.
  374. >Routine check your ass, they’ve been there for almost a day now.
  375. >If they don’t make it on time, you’re gonna have to cut serious expenses.
  376. >That means firing more and more people until there isn’t anyone left.
  377. >This isn’t good, not good at all.
  378. >At least it’s snowing. You liked cold and snow made it beautiful as well, win-win.
  379. >Well, almost, going home will be a bitch with the walkways frozen and snowy.
  380. >”Ms Chrysalis, you have a conference due in thirty minutes, would you like me to let the gentlemen in?”
  381. >They’re already here?
  382. >That’s pretty early, not like it matters.
  383. “Yes, please let them in.”
  384. >Turning around you walked up to the conference table in the middle of your office, standing next to your paper roll white board.
  385. >The doors suddenly opened up and your business partners entered the room.
  386. >Stuck up, crusty old guys the bunch of them.
  387. >Do they even know what’s going on?
  388. >They might just be coming here to save face.
  389. >They don’t even work anymore just collect the money.
  390. >If there’s one thing you hate more than an incapable person, is someone who doesn’t do their part to help out others.
  391. >As soon as everyone found their place you spoke up, to cut them off from greeting each other and engaging in small talk.
  392.
  393. “Good afternoon gentlemen, I welcome you all in our new building here in Canterlot. I hope your journey here went smoothly and with that I think we should begin right away.”
  394. >Facing the board you grab your pointer and stand aside.
  395. “As you can see, our business hit a new bottom. We are facing serious problems over in Africa, but our Russian partners are also unsatisfied with us.”
  396. >You flip to the next page.
  397. “I did some research and made a few calls. As I understand, the problems we face are mostly technological, our system is dated, and communication with our ships and the ships themselves are unstable.”
  398. >Next page
  399. “After pulling a few strings, I managed to strike deals with a Company from Norway and am proud to say, that we are getting new ships. This however won’t solve the problems with our system. Regarding that, I’m convinced we have to create a new department, to take care of our equipment.”
  400. >Last page.
  401. “Sadly, It will cost us dearly, but I believe, when it comes to preparations and safety, no price is too high. Based on this, we will need seven hundred million dollars, to cover our new ‘toys’.”
  402. >As soon as you finished the room errupted in unintelligible croaking.
  403. >These useless shit bags will have to go, not yet, but soon enough.
  404. >One of the monsters spoke up, a fat balding man in his mid forties.
  405. >The way he had to catch his breath after every third word almost made you gag.
  406. >”Excuse me Ms, but how do you expect us to pay for these, outrageous expenses? Our department can barely pay it’s workers, what you’re asking is madness.”
  407. >With a deep breath, you walked up to him.
  408. “I understand you concerns Mr. Shekelberg, but please enlighten me, how can you have financial problems in your facility, when just two weeks ago, I raised your budget by almost a hundred million dollars?”
  409. >Intimidated by your implication, the toad pounced on you yet again.
  410.
  411. >”That money was used to freshen up the infrastructure, there isn’t enough left to pay those peasants.”
  412. >Oh? This ugly, obese toad dare call his workers peasants?
  413. “Well, I’m glad to hear you put that money to good use. I actually made calls to your department as well. My dear friend works there as a ‘peasant’. The only problem is, I can’t remember her saying they got anything new. In fact, she told me the only thing new around the place, was a brand new Ferrari. Parking, in front of your office.”
  414. >The toad seemed to have puffed up, it looked so fat it was scary.
  415. “Care to elaborate on that Mr. Shekelberg? It seems awfully convenient to buy a new car, that approximately costs a hundred million, just after receiving company fundings.”
  416. >The sight of that ugly thing, with ticking eyes was priceless.
  417. >”What are you going to do you little slut? You have no power here, you’re just a representative for Sombra, as long as he’s not interested, we can do whatever we want.”
  418. >The grin on your face spread from ear to ear.
  419. >And now, for the kill.
  420. “As a matter of fact Mr. Shekelberg, you are wrong. This morning, I got a new title from Director Sombra, you may call him so in my presence. Anyways my new position is actually Co-Director. And as such, it is now in my power to manage corporate titles.”
  421. >The air froze in the brightly lit room.
  422. >The only sound was your heels clapping on the tiles.
  423. >You stopped short at the end of the long table and leveled your eyes on the ugly shame of a man called Shekelberg.
  424. “And my first action will be, taking your position as head manager. I’m sorry SIR, but you should go now, you’re expected to show up in the office tomorrow. As the new janitor.”
  425. >The sight of him sitting there with wide eyes almost made you wet.
  426. >His life was taken from him in mere seconds.
  427. >You’ll now learn what it means to work for a greater cause.
  428. “If that’s the last question, you are now dismissed. You may leave.”
  429.
  430. >”Hi girls, hi everyone!”
  431. >And with that the day ends.
  432. >Not really. It’s only 6pm so there’s still a lot of time left.
  433. >That was fun. These girls are awesome, for some reason, they feel. Different.
  434. >You’re walking down the road, towards your flat.
  435. >Why are you living in a small studio apartment fucking light years away from everyone again?
  436. >Oh, right. You forgot to call the guy who sold an awesome place a few months back and now you can’t find any.
  437. >Damn, it sucks when you can’t blame anyone but yourself.
  438. >What’s with all this snow?
  439. >Even though you only spent like a few hours in Sugarcube Corner, the city was already covered in a thick layer of the stuff.
  440. >Oh look theres even ice on- oohh fuck.
  441. >With a hilarious show of balance you manage to grab on the bars of a window.
  442. >God you almost fell.
  443. >It’s beautiful really but walking around is hell in this time of the year.
  444. >Winter’s fucked up.
  445. >Covering yourself with your jacket as much as possible, you pick up your pace to stay warm.
  446. >It’s also really cold, how did this happen it isn’t even winter just …. early winter?
  447. >Ah you just wanted to get home already.
  448. >After a few minutes you realized there isn’t any food home.
  449. >To the shop it is then.
  450. >There’s this small mart not far away from here, that might still be open.
  451. >Sure enough, after crossing the street with a pseudo suicidal sprint, avoiding the cars, you can make out the lights of the mart even from there.
  452. >Accompanied by thunderous wheeing of it’s sirens, a police car speeds down the road next to you.
  453. >Crime never rests right? Heh, you’d know all about that wouldn’t you?
  454. >Maybe they’re just working extra hard to make enough money for the holidays?
  455. >Do criminals give presents to each other?
  456. >Not likely, they’re still human, they have families to spend the holidays with, they wouldn’t be together on Christmas eve.
  457. >Right?
  458.
  459. >While pondering on life’s meaning you notice a red and yellow blur on the other side of the street.
  460. >Looking over you see Sunset who seems to be in a hurry.
  461. >What is she doing here?
  462. >Engaging stalker mode.
  463. >Take notes my dear Watson.
  464. >You put on your hood and try to hide your face before crossing the street with yet another suicidal dash.
  465. >A small crowd turns to face you as they hear the loud tooting of cars.
  466. >Luckily Sunset isn’t one of them.
  467. >Curse you Oliver Lucas, you almost ruined the mission.
  468. >She’s getting away! Run!
  469. >You could almost make out the tingling cartoon noise of your steps, as you hid behind street lamps trying not to get caught.
  470. >Man, this is a rush, you should be a spy.
  471. >Alright she’s close to the crossing, where is she going?
  472. >Wait, she just crossed the street, is she go- yea she’s just going shopping.
  473. >Well, that’s disappointing.
  474. >You should probably join in, you might even get tips on how to buy quality shampoo or something.
  475. “Hey! Sunset!”
  476. >Confused, she spots you and waves you over.
  477. >”Anon? What are you doing around here?”
  478. “I wanted to ask you the same but you’re out shopping aren’t you?”
  479. >She looks up to the open sign and gives you an awkward nod.
  480. >”Yeah, then I guess you’re here for the same?”
  481. >She looks stressed but gives you another nod.
  482. >Weird bacon haired girl is weird.
  483. “Let’s go, it’s getting colder by the minute.”
  484. >Walking around in the store made you realize two things.
  485. >One, you have absolutely no idea where you’re going to find chicken breast because they just ran out, and won’t fill the stock on weekends.
  486. >Two, girls shop like mad men.
  487. >When you came in, you went from isle to isle and put everything you needed in your cart.
  488. >Sunset on the other hand, has been running to and fro for the past ten minutes and she’s still not done yet.
  489. >She knows where stuff is so she goes to the things she needs and the goes to another random part of the store, its crazy.
  490.
  491. >After three eternities, she’s finally done and you’re standing in line.
  492. >You couldn’t even ask her about the shampoo.
  493. >Like, she smells nice so she must be an expert in the subject.
  494. >Thinking about it you shouldn’t go around, sniffing people like that, it’s creepy.
  495. >Awkward, think of something else.
  496. “Say Sunset, does Aj really has that hat on all the time? How come it’s not dirty.”
  497. >She looks up from her cart with a grin.
  498. >”That’s an urban legend Anon. Some say she has multiple hats, some say she’s actually just a ghost and that’s why she isn’t dirty, despite working so much on the farm. Though if you ask me, there’s this long forgotten artifact called a shower. She mastered it and gets things done quickly.”
  499. >She said that with a wink.
  500. >What does she mean?
  501. >Wait you don’t smell do you?
  502. >While stealthily trying to smell your armpits you didn’t even notice the cashier talking to you.
  503. >”That’ll be fifteen dollars sir.”
  504. >Fishing around for a few seconds you open your wallet.
  505. >You reluctantly pay for your stuff and stomp away from the mid aged women.
  506. >Fifteen dollars? For what, you barely bought anything.
  507. >After you packed up you turned to wait for sunset.
  508. >Oh god she spent even more, no wonder actually.
  509. >Looking over her stuff she bought like whole grain pasta and expensive healthy food.
  510. >She also bought some of the more expensive tampo- oh shit didn’t see anything.
  511. >”Alright, I’m done. We should get going it’s pretty late.”
  512. >She’s not wrong. And the store’s about to close as well.
  513. “Shall I help you out? Do you live far from here?”
  514. >She gives you a worried look and quickly refuses the offer.
  515. >”No thank you, I can manage. Besides you should get home as well, I heard the weather is going to get even worse.”
  516. >Oh shit more snow? Dude
  517. “Alright, have a nice weekend Sunset, be careful on the way.”
  518. >With that the both of you go your way.
  519.
  520. >Be Sunset on your way home.
  521. >More like, trying to pretend going home.
  522. >Meeting Anon on the way was tough luck, you had to spend a lot of money to make him believe you were only out for shopping.
  523. >Doesn’t matter, you had to do it sooner or later.
  524. >Is there enough money for the stuff though?
  525. >Looking over your shoulder you see Anon taking a right and disappearing from sight.
  526. >Thank god, this is the corner you have to take.
  527. >After taking a left you step through an abandoned doorway and hide behind the large gate.
  528. >There are a few minutes left until your contact arrives.
  529. >Until he’s here you start munching on a fruit bar.
  530. >Delicious and cheap, this is god’s work, it has to be.
  531. >It was still snowing, this might be problematic.
  532. >It’s one thing if school is canceled because no one can get to it.
  533. >But what if you can’t leave your house on the weekend?
  534. >At least it’s nice. Every snowflake looked like a star in the now completely dark night sky.
  535. >The dim light of street lamps danced on small frozen puddles and made your eyes glitter.
  536. >You almost jumped out of your skin as a low voice disturbed the peaceful scenery.
  537. >”Hey hey, Sunny-bunny. You look scared, wad up?”
  538. “Hi there Light, yeah you kinda scared me again. Please stop doing that.”
  539. >He let out a laugh and started prodding around in his messenger bag.
  540. >”Alright, let’s get to the point. You wanted 2Gs you have the money?”
  541. >You gave it to him and put the stuff away.
  542. “You think I’m a fake? Please you hurt my feelings. Thanks by the way.”
  543. >”No worries Shim-sham. Have a nice evening and keep your “high spirits”, if you catch my drift. See ya.”
  544. >He took off but not before awkwardly saluting.
  545. >What a weirdo. At least he’s fun. Of all your contacts you liked him the most.
  546. >But what a weird name, Light Foot.
  547. >He certainly can sneak up to you any time so it’s fitting at least.
  548. >Now that you finally had what you wanted you took off home.
  549.
  550. >After around fifteen minutes of baby stepping through the thick snow you finally arrived at home.
  551. >Walking up the stuffy stairwell you took in the familiar scent of home.
  552. >Not too clean and certainly not the most beautiful place but it’s home right?
  553. >You closed the door, changed into your homies and took off your bra.
  554. >An overflowing sense of freedom filled your body.
  555. >The sensation of coming home, life is good.
  556. >After putting away the groceries and destroying a bowl of freshly made veggie salad, you lay down on your bed and take out your stuff.
  557. >You light up the joint and lay back, life is good ...
