  1. New York Bagon, coached by Quay
  2.
  3. While this draft is one of the more defensive ones in the league, it certainly does not lack power. Mega-Venusaur, Chesnaught and to a lesser extent Metagross, Decidueye and Claydol provide great walls that can stop any offense when combined. Quay also got great options to attack with, like the Gardevoir and Gallade combo, as well as the fast Delphox and Azelf. An important member of this team is Mew, well known for being able to run virtually any set, making it extremely powerful in Draft League format where you know your opponent’s options. Finally, Girafarig can provide Wish and Baton Pass support, while Exeggutor is a huge pain to deal with if you can’t hit it super effectively, because of Harvest and Sitrus Berry. As for hazards, Quay has 4 options for rocks and even the potential for Spikes, with Azelf being a great lead to set up rocks and explode right after. His options for sweep are numerous, with the option for Calm Mind on every psychic type and a possible Rock Polish Metagross. His priority isn’t bad either, with Shadow Sneak and Bullet Punch as options. He can also reliably remove hazards with Mew, Decidueye and Claydol, and has a solid U-Turn core. With all his psychic types, he also has the potential for Trick Room, and that is something each of his opponents should worry about a little. His draft does have some problems though.
  4. Firstly, his only counter for Flying types is Metagross, and his only counter for Ghost types is Girafarig. These two types are sure to cause Quay a lot of trouble in the future. Knock off can also only be reliably countered by Mega-Venusaur and Chesnaught, so he will be forced to bring these whenever his opponent has the potential for Knock Off spam. Finally, he is of course very weak to U-turn, and teams like Lobt’s with a good U-turn core will seriously hurt him.
  5. Even if his team shares a lot of weaknesses and lacks some variety, it can get the job done and is solid enough to answer any threat decently. An opponent with the correct types should be able to get past this team without much trouble though, and that’s what holds it back the most.

  7. This draft gets a 7.5/10
