  1. Re: Pomozte s reformou autorského práva!

  3.
  4. Hi CzTorrent crew,
  5.
  6. among other things, I'm writing to you, in order to report to you, what happend after the deadline regarding the copyright survey of the European Commission.
  7.
  8.
  9. copyright survey – run of events:
  10.
  11. All in all the European Commission received 11.112 contributions; that's "a bit" more than the 320 contributions, which normally on average are received on such surveys; the impact of the result of this survey on the further course of the copyright reform will be correspondingly higher.
  12.
  13. For refreshment: In one of the previous mails I've send you broken down statistics of our site copywrongs.eu, which made it a lot easier to participate at the copyright survey: http://pastebin.com/BxwnPN1Z
  14.
  15. Well, who counts 1 (11.112 contributions at the copyright survey) and 1 [over 5.000 document downloads alone by kinox.to (streaming portal in german language room) visitors] together, will see that the streaming community set the tone regarding this base estimates for the upcoming copyright reform.
  16.
  17. A lot of activistic work was behind this; that can be seen by a look behind the scenes: https://piratenpad.de/p/spread-copywrongsEU/timeslider#16682
  18.
  19. On the 11th of April – so, one month ago – the European Commission published all contributions to the copyright consultation – except anonymous contributions and a summary; this will follow: http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/consultations/2013/copyright-rules/index_en.htm
  20.
  21. Beyond this the European Commission announced to publish a collection of suggestions for how to act on reforming copyright til the 18th of June 2014. Time will tell to what extent this collection builds on this copyright survey.
  22.
  23.
  24. European elections 2014:
  25.
  26. In the upcoming years on EU level very important decisions on the future of copyright will be made. Besides the planned copyright reform the new EU Parliament will decide til the end of this year, if the two ACTA zombies CETA and TTIP will be adopted or rejected.
  27.
  28. The biggest influence, which civil society can exercise over those processes, are the european elections 2014; and regarding this to filesharers and streamers the following pertains: The more pirates enter EU Parliament, the better, as pirates clearly...
  29. • say "NO" to CETA
  30. • say "NO" to TTIP
  31. • say "YES" to a big copyright reform and work on making sure that it will make our copyright socially balanced and up-to-date
  32.
  33. Chances for pirate parties in the EU look pretty good:
  34. The german pirates can expect at least 2 of their pirates to enter EU Parliament after the 3% treshold in Germany got rejected by the german constitutional court; the swedish pirates are seen on 3,9 % by election forecast – they need 4 % in order to get their first pirate into EU Parliament – and the czech pirates are seen on 3,5 % by election forecast and so just need 1,5 % more for entering EU Parliament with one pirate.
  35.
  36. The Pirate Bay already used this as an opportunity to play a part in european elections 2014: https://thepiratebay.se/
  37. And also the streaming portal alluc.to did so: http://www.alluc.to/ – switch off ad block in order to see it
  38.
  39. What we pirates really would like to see is that you also support us by placing a web banner on the main page of CzTorrent, which links to http://wiki.piratenpartei.de/European_Pirates - and that up to and including the whole 25th of May.
  40. The linked page is a landing page, which is custom made for filesharing and streaming community and offers important information to the future of copyright and pirates in a brief and graphic way; in detail it contains:
  41. • a preview of what awaits us on EU level regarding copyright within the next 5 years
  42. • an overview of all the countries where one can vote pirate in the european elections 2014
  43. • the official copyright position of the european pirates
  44. • an overview of what the 2 pirates in EU Parliament achieved for the filesharing and streaming community within the last 5 years – and this probably is the most interesting information for you
  45.
  46. Here's the link to the web banner set:
  47. • preview: http://wiki.piratenpartei.de/wiki/images/f/f1/European_Pirates_Leaderboard.png
  48. • overall preview: http://wiki.piratenpartei.de/wiki/images/5/5f/Overall-preview.png
  49. • packet: http://wiki.piratenpartei.de/wiki/images/9/91/European_Pirates_web_banner.zip
  50.
  51. Alternatively, of course, it's also possibly to simply copy the web banner of The Pirate Bay including the respective linking – here one can see it in it's full beautiful diversity: http://falkvinge.net/2014/05/20/the-pirate-bay-running-pirate-party-promos-in-election-week/
  52.
  53. If you would do so, it would be wicked.
  54.
  55.
  56. Thank you very much in advance and let's hope for a future, where we finally won't get criminalizing for taking the chances that digital change offers us,
  57. Torben Lechner
