  4. In the opening scenes of the movie, the audience is given their first look at where Saroo was born and raised as a child up until the age of 5, which he was then adopted by a couple in Australia and raised as a young boy In Tasmania, Australia. The use of panning movements and tracking movements, show the scenery of where Saroo lived in India and Tasmania, Australia with Birdseye view camera angle shots. The use of Juxtaposition of Australia & India is used to make it seem as his home back in India is so close to his home in Australia comparing the two countries but in reality, it is actually quite far away from where he lives in Australia. The purpose of the juxtaposition is to try and tell/show us (the audience) how different the landscape of Australia is compared to India. The landscape of India and Australia are symbolic of his travels. The journey of when he gets stuck and lost on the train thousands of miles across India, his flight from India to Australia when he’s adopted and his constant panning of his mouse when he’s searching google maps to try and find his home back in India.

  6. In the scene where Saroo finds himself being welcomed by another homeless boy and given a piece of cardboard to sleep on next to the other homeless kids, and waking up and seeing a few men that he’s never seen before taking the other children and kidnapping them. The use of close up shots and the shake of the camera showing how intense the scene was, showing close ups of the kidnappers with some of the children in their arms, or when Saroo’s running away from the kidnappers and looking back to see how far that they were from him, shots of in front of Saroo and behind him showing one of the men chasing him and another girl. The purpose of these camera angles is to show the audience that the scene of which him and other children were victims of attempted kidnapping and how scared/worried Saroo was, and how fast paced and intense it was. Belonging/Cultural heritage is shown in this scene when Saroo is offered a spot to sleep by one of the other children, displaying the fact that they all should and do stick together no matter what the circumstance or reasoning behind it is this letting Saroo know he’s welcome to sleep with them if he has no where to sleep to make him feel welcome and letting him know that he’s not alone.

  8. The use of intensifying music in scenes where Saroo’s in trouble or running away is used to help show the, or the use of saddening music to display Saroo’s emotions in scenes of the film where Saroo is looking for his family/home back in India, displaying his sadness. The use of dramatic music when Saroo finds the water tank near the train station while searching through google maps or when he finally meets his mother back in India and finds out that Guudu had died the night that he’d gone missing.
