  16. I have a website optimised to the max as per gtmetrix.com (well, almost)
  17. but it takes ages to load as you can see from the image
  18.
  19. on the other hand... I have a custom theme... clear and fast, even though it has more requests and heavier
  20.
  21. could somebody please advise how to speed up the first theme? I'm all maxed out there but it's so slow.
  22.
  23. It depends - there's not one single way to speed it up, because there could be loads of different things slowing it down.
  24. If there's no CDN yet, add one.. but run it through a subdomain if you care about any potential SEO issues from running externally.
  25. When you check page speed, use GTMetrix, Pingdom and Google Insights together - I find Google tells me way more than the other two regarding what's actually slowing a page down.
  26. Render blocking JS/CSS is the usual culprit and can be a huge pain to solve properly.
  27. Then again, if you've improved the A's B's like you have, then I guess you knew most of this anyway.
  28. Check the waterfall on gtmetrix and see which is taking the most time.
  29. Do you have the app as messenger installed your website.
  30. App will slow your speed.
  31. I follow since I am interested in this as well ....
  32. What kind of hosting do you have? And where is the servers located? Where are your main market located?
  33.
  34. Convert your site into amp it’ll load blazingly fast If optimisation aren’t working
  35.
  36. Check the waterfall on gtmetrix and see which is taking the most time.
  37. Agreed, this is the first step.
  38. Also, OP what hosting are your using? Because if you are using a shared hosting package, no matter how many improvements you do, you won't be able to get your site to load faster.

  41. - BEST INSTAGRAM PROXIES -?
  42. Agreed, this is the first step.

  44. It is a business hosting... and my problem is that one website loads very fast and the other one (which is lighter) takes ages. Yeah, I think it's because of the theme, even though I optimised it, I think it makes calls to slow resources.
  45. Check the waterfall on gtmetrix and see which is taking the most time.
  46. Thank you, just checked the waterfall.
  47. As expected... js and css take most of the time. I use autoptimize plugin, it cut loading time by around 1.5 seconds but even optimised, jquery, js, css and fonts take 2.3 seconds of 3.8 seconds loading time. So it is the theme which is not optimised.

  50. Get a digitalocean VPS.. there a loads of other reasons too, but one big drawcard is how much you can optimze page speed if you use a VPS compared to shared/business hosting.
  51. After the first time I put a site on self-managed VPS, I've never once used lesser hosting. It's cheap as shit anyway - $5 p/m, it might take a little bit of effort to learn about nginx (run nginx on ubuntu 16.04 on a DO droplet, not apache!) but once you've learnt how to do it it's easy.
  52. You can really get down into the code with exactly how you add gzip, can setup php optimally, and loads of other goodness. TBH business hosting and shared hosting are rookie moves in 2019, get rid of it asap.

  56. Render-blocking js/css is always the killer.
  57.
  58. Following this one!
  59. Mogrify your images?
  60. Might as well ask here
  61. Is it ok to use ajax/js-ey themes, the fancy one pagers/portfolio type themes? Haven't tried optimizing through the steps on gtmetrix in a while (havent been into websites for a while), and didn't wanna try it again and still end up with a hopelessly slow-ass website?
