I do not support abortion under any circumstance; however, I feel that there are other alternatives to killing an innocent child. Adoption is a great alternative. There are so many people that want children that are unable to conceive. Abortion is a selfish choice made by a woman especially if she was out having intercourse willingly because she was fully aware of what the consequences could be. If a woman becomes pregnant from rape it could be a very sad and difficult situation because she is unwillingly carrying a baby, but so is a woman that became pregnant after intercourse that also did not want a baby. If abortion did not exist then women would probably turn to other alternatives such as killing the baby themselves or harming themselves. If abortion is going to continue to be allowed, then there should be boundaries such as a woman only being able to do an abortion so many times and only being so far along in the pregnancy. If she is raped she should have to press charges on the rapist in order to get the abortion. I feel that if a woman does not want the responsibility of children then she should prevent it from happening by effectively using birth control, getting fixed, or practice absentness. The argument about a woman ultimately owning her body and having the final say in whether or not she should carry a baby at birth is a good one, but it does not convince me enough. I strongly believe a woman is responsible for her actions and so is a man and they should expect consequences if they are going to have intercourse.
