I have an iPhone 4G - BB 1.59 - FW 4.0 unlocked and Jailbreaked.

I need to restore because I am having some crashes in the firmware.

Can I upgrade my FW to 4.2.1 or 4.3 preserving my BB 1.59 ?

Please help me ...

I have Mac and Pc...

Ok, it's probably on here somewhere, but for us noobs could you cover it here so the ones that come here for such an answer can find it near the top again. I have 2 iphone 4s (U.S.A. so on AT&T) not worried about unlocking.... One is Jailbroken via Redsn0w when it was on 4.1 firmware. The other just arrived (refurbished model) with 4.2.1 firmware and is yet to be Jailbroken. Todays date is 03/25/2011 and firmware 4.3.1 is just out. so my questions are , "Is Apple still signing 4.2.1? Via on overlap of signing like they do from time to time. If Not then are they still signing 4.3 via an overlap too?... I am looking to create / maintain untethered Jailbreak on these.

I have a 3GS and was looking for advice:
current firmware: 4.0.1 (8a306)
baseband: 05.13.04
SHSH saved via cydia
there are some new apps that I'm looking to use with my company that require firmware 4.2 and higher.
i've been reading a lot of blogs and websites (including iclarified) but a lot of it is dated 3-5mos back.
can someone please tell me if there's a way to jailbreak and unlock to 4.2.1? i don't want to loose GPS or any other functionality. from what i gather, i don't think there is but i would like to make sure.

at the moment it is an tethered jailbreak and its unlocked but i don't know how to make a untethered jailbreak so that the unlock don't gets lost.

I have a strainge problem.

The problem is when I receive a SMS, the phone frezes. I have to reset to to press home and power button at the same time.

No way to get there. Redsn0w or pwnage tool does not work at 4.3 yet so you can't jailbreak and install the iPad baseband.

Hey guys thought I'd sussed it but arghhhhh basically my friends 3GS crashed on 4.1 jailbroken couldn't get it running so updated to 4.3 which then got stuck on the recovery screen common problem I hear, for the life of me though couldn't get passed it so in the end I tried downgrading to 4.2.1 which he had blobs for it restored but wouldn't activate and wifi and Bluetooth wasn't working so I once more tried 4.3 and at last success so o gave him his phone back but a few hours ago it went back to the recovery screen randomly again any ideas on this one your help would be appreciated I'm all out of ideas

Don't update if you expect to be able to jailbreak and/or unlock
Wait for new tools from the hackers !

Save your 4.3 hashes if you haven't done so yet ! There is usually an overlap window !

lol...dh, hope that folks will read & heed. but then there's always the girlfriend or whoever else to blame for the update; & saving my shsh takes too long - i could use the 5 minutes it takes to save 'em doing something really important (like bidding on a droid). also, why wait for the devs when i could buy this givenchi supercharged & nitro'd sim thingy?

and i allready have cydia on my phone and can freely use all the apps of the phone,just its unlocked to carrier , so my question here is can i unlock my phone to any carrier?? if u answer my question i`ll be happy..

Nope, basebands 02.10 and newer have no carrier unlock, and there doesn't look like there is going to be one in the forseeable future.

First of all thanks for Dev team and folks who are ready to help those who need it. I have been following this site for the past year and half and always found the answers sooner or later. I would like to get your expertise to resolve my situation.

Here is the situation:
Device: 3Gs
iOs: 4.2.1 JB (using redsn0w) and unlocked using ultrasn0w with iPad BB 6.15.00
SHSHs saved on Cydia for 4.2.1.
Everything has been working great ever since including GPS. Also using info on this blog helped few folks with unlocking.

Others: have no mac only pc.

Issue: Joined a new job and need to install Good For Enterprise and requires non-jailbroken iPhone to get firm emails. I have to upgrade to latest version (or at least 4.2.1) to get firm emails (don't care about JB and unlock as I have been using different phone).

Attempts: tried to upgrade to 4.3 and 4.3.1 but not successful (as it was indicated by many of you).

How could I resolve this issue? That is to update to latest firmware.

Thought of eBaying and getting a new one.

Please give me your thoughts and share expertise.

QUESTION.

I have this old 3G iphone, still iOS 2.2. since tinyumbrella can`t save SHSHs, Is it possible to uptade to 4.0 to get a newer unlockable baseband(will apple sign both this?), save SHSHs and uptade to 4.2.1 via tinyumbrella TSS?

Because if I put in pwned dfu and choose my custom 4.2.1 with bb prevention, it will remain at 2.28 and ultrasn0w cant unlock it

OK this is for those people who were asking about Gevey sim for iphone 4 i did some tests on it and here is the results is working on 4.1 4.2.1 4.3 internet is working fine no problem i can send the mms but can't get it for some reason texts are working fine no problem then there is a another problem is that sometimes im loosing few bars and some times says no service then gets back to service after few seconds it did work in New York Simple Mobile Carrier hope this helped those people who where asking about this before if you have problems or questions post here i will try to help as much as i can if you really want to spend around 90$ and wait for Dev Team go do that is up to you !!

I've read a "too good to be true" statement about doing an Apple restore back to 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 and it will downgrade your baseband from 2.10.04 to 1.59.0. Can anyone confirm it's not doable? Thanks and kudos to the Dev Team!

I've recently replaced my iPhone 4 with another one running 05.19, just to find that I'm stuck on 4.0 without a chance to upgrade (keeping my unlock), as Apple has stopped signing older, unlockable firmware versions. (Only 4.3 SHSHs saved.)

Will there be a 05.19 / 4.3.1 unlock available soon? I was under the impression that there was a JB/unlock, which was held until 4.3.1. would be released. I know that I might be able to use a combination greenpoison and ultrasn0w, but I also find the Dev Team's stuff "tried and tested". I wouldn't want to risk my unlock at this time.

If I update to the newest iOS 4.3.1 then I should still be able to jailbreak when the jb comes out, right?

I just don't want to screw myself out of the future jailbreak.

hey guys
please help me, i have a locked iphone 4. (dont know which baseband and software version). When i turned it on, asking for connect to itunes. I did and tried to restore, but got errors. i worked with them by many ways.
then atleast i got to the whole process, whole restore worked on my iphone screen, install bar completed, but after that nothing comes out, same "connect to itunes",
I tried redsn0w to jailbreak with restore it, but even that didnt work,

I am afraid if it have some big trouble or what? please suggest anything. plz plz plz
