  1. In-Depth Open RSC Ironman Guide v1.0 (last updated 19-9-19)
  2. By Orbrun
  3.
  4. This guide aims to give the most efficient approach to maxing an ironman on RS Classic.
  5. It is written with the differences Open RSC provides in mind and thus xp rates and certain
  6. methods will be different for versions of classic without instant banking.
  7. This guide assumes you'll be playing with efficiency in mind, and that you aren't imposing any
  8. additional restrictions on your account besides not benefiting from other player characters
  9. outside of the shield of arrav and heros quests(not even your own).
  10.
  11. Special thanks to Logg, Disziple, Rider, RSC2001, and the rest of the RS Classic skilling
  12. community for helping establish the Ironman meta. <3
  13. Also special thanks to Asura Zoma for creating an OSRS F2P Ironman guide for which the
  14. format of this guide is based on.

  39. 1. OVERVIEW
  40.
  41. 1.1. Introduction
  42. If you're really interested in maxing an Open RSC ironman, you should know what you're getting yourself into.
  43. It takes at least 108,300 hours assuming you're always focused and at 100% efficiency,
  44. which means you'll be playing this account for a reasonable fraction of your total time on this earth.
  45. In contrast to that, it's never been done before!
  46.
  47. 1.2. Maxing Order
  48.
  49.
  50. 1-79 crafting
  51. train thieving until level 65 magic
  52. 1-99 agility (can be done at any time)
  53. train herblaw until 80 strength
  54. obtain a rune axe/kite from fire giants
  55. get 99 firemaking(can be done at any time)
  56. get 99 fletching/woodcutting(can be done at any time)
  57. get 800kgp, then train fishing/cooking to 99(can be done at any time)
  58. after 99 fletching, get 99 ranged
  59. after full rune, get at least 99 thieving at paladins(can be done at any time)
  60. get 82 thieving and 67 agility, then train herblaw until 80 attack 90 strength
  61. get 99 prayer from black dragons
  62. use nats to get 99 smithing(can be done at any time)
  63. use gems+silver certs to get 99 crafting(can be done at any time)
  64.
  65. 2.1. Crafting
  66. The earliest skill any ironman should obtain a high level in is crafting.
  67. This is because crafting has very few requirements to train, and it unlocks
  68. the strength amulet and amulet of glory, which are incredibly important for
  69. both combat training, obtaining gems, and collecting resources like red spiders eggs.
  70.
  71. 1-10 Clay
  72. A bronze pickaxe can be obtained from Bob in Lumbridge and a bucket can be obtained from the
  73. chicken farm in Lumbridge. Mine an inventory of clay in Varrock west mine, then soften all your
  74. clay using your bucket in Varrock Palace. Lastly, use the soft clay on the oven and potters
  75. wheel in barbarian village.
  76.
  77. 10-79 Crafting
  78. Note: It is HIGHLY recommended that you use mousekeys for this method so that you can pick flax
  79. as quickly as possible, as well as minimize hand fatigue. See section 3 for how to set it up.
  80. It is also useful to resize your client so that the distance from your inventory to the
  81. spinning wheel is minimized. In order to help avoid forced logouts due to quickly repeated
  82. actions, your chat should be set to private history.
  83.
  84. The fastest way to train crafting on an ironman by far is through spinning bowstrings in
  85. the Gnome Stronghold. Pick an inventory of flax directly east of the bank by the ladder,
  86. then climb up and use all the flax obtained on the spinning wheel to create bowstrings.
  87. After that, go down and head east and bank all your bowstrings. Every inventory gives 450xp
  88. as well as 9.6% fatigue, meaning that after 10 inventories you will want to withdraw a sleeping
  89. bag from your bank. On this 11th inventory you should walk towards the flax and sleep immediately
  90. after clicking on your minimap. Wake up once you reach around 40% and then pick flax to waste
  91. no time. After crafting bowstrings, sleep to 0% on the walk back towards the bank. If by any chance
  92. there is an npc on the flax you are trying to pick, you should kill them and then continue picking.
  93.
  94. The xp rate for picking flax is luck based because the position for the spinning wheel changes
  95. making the spinning part more difficult at times, as well as the bankers distance from the ladder
  96. is constantly changing. That being said, with the right click banking that ORSC has enabled,
  97. 19,500 xp/hr can be attained. For 1x servers that only have dialogue banking, the xp rate should be
  98. around 18,400 xp/hr. At 79 crafting you will have picked roughly 120,000 bowstrings, though it is
  99. normal to have picked a few thousand more due to accidentally forgetting to sleep.
  100.
  101. After 79, a large amount of crafting xp will come from gems obtained through combat and mining.
  102. It is for this reason that you should not progress further in the skill until 99 prayer, herblaw and
  103. smithing are achieved.
  104.
  105. Agility
  106.
  107. Agility is a skill with very few requirements and even fewer uses and therefore can generally be
  108. trained at anytime.
  109.
  110. 1-30
  111. The first instant your character enters the gnome stronghold, you can and should train agility to
  112. level 30 at the agility course there. No items are required, and
