Very much so.
Rachna, the past few weeks have been a flurry of paper and activity as far as you could tell. You were told before everyone else that the company facility in California was going to be vacated. Tavon gave you the news, and while you were nominally under the direct command of George the SAS officer, he was assigned to send a representative to cooperate with the wolf. You were picked, and found yourself quickly being put under his charge as a second hand. During your time out, you weren't wasting your time, but actually picked up 2 skills because of George's strict regimen, as well as a guaranteed limited conversational ability in another language.

By the time you got to Baltimore, you quickly realized why since it became quite evident that you were setting up to go to the Mediterranean Sea, the new facility being so close to the port that you could drive there in 10 minutes.(edited)

You've still got a ton of questions that weren't answered, that need to be answered, but until the facility was completely renovated, there was hardly any time to do much more than gearing the place up for occupancy. Meanwhile, you've noticed a large number of the intelligence gathering side of the operation filling in, along with the entire low observability group being slated to work here. There's even a small fleet of 4 cars being readied to go, a clutch of BMWs in different colors already stored in a shipping container, one pulled out and worked on by a few engineers wondering aloud about what they should improve. There's even talk of giving it some limited armor in the bodywork.

Needless to say, it's all been quite curious for you. You've been wanting to ask what it's all for for a long time, and now, you feel like it's your chance.

The equine lyc frowns slightly, scratching her nose and looking to George with a raised brow. There are -many- questions. As well as the creeping dread of their costal location and the obvious inference of a certain naval persuasion to future endeavors... But of course, what sort of red blooded American would comment upon those important matters? When faced with this most golden of opportunities? No.... She bobs her head in the direction of the mechanics, "Is that for real? An' here Ah thought you were all work an' no play, but there's us fundin' armored BMWs... Should Ah start callin' ya James? Or d'ya prefer 'Mr.Bond'?"

Maus - Today at 7:39 PM

* George follows Rachna's gaze to the BMW, folding up a manila folder that he was reading. "They're funding what? Are you certain..."

* He listens to the mechanics talk about steel and aluminum plating for a moment, his expression deadpan. "They must be joking..."

* He gives Rachna a pensive look, "When you get a chance to liase with Tavon, be sure to get some extra credit so we're not stuck driving those bloody armored peacocks for surveillance, will you?"

Rachna snickers and shakes her head, "Aw, c'mon. Not even gonna acknowledge the joke? Some 007 you turned out t'be... Ah'd -assume- there's uh good reason, if they're honestly tryin' t'upgrade 'em. Hell if they're tryin' t'stick us in that fer 'low profile' though... So what're we doin' out here ahead've the rest? 'Sides side-eyein' our brave engineers' pet projects?"

* George brushes the first question off. "From what I know, higher quarters sent orders to open a railroad all the way to Syria. I wasn't quite privy to everything important, but the general impression I get is that The Russian Federation not only has its hackles up, but it's taking bigger steps than before."

* "It appears they might've had something to do with the Constitutional Crisis in Italy, for instance."

The lyc sighs and tips her head slightly, "Alright, so Russia messin' with the rest've Europe as always... An' buildin' a railroad? Ah mean, sounds sorta like uh preemptively makin' supply lines type've move, but that ain't exactly hard t'figure out with satellite intel is it? Tell me we ain't headin' in there t'scout out some construction project..."

* George snorts, "Construction? No. Unless you count the Belt and Road Initiative."

"Er... Yer losin' me, Sir. Ah'm not as slow as the accent suggests, but damn if Ah've payed -that- much attention t'international politicin'." the mare turns and rolls her neck, shifting her chin as she looks over her commander.

"The first." George confirms. "The People's Republic has been quietly creating a development fund in the Eurasian continent to link Europe and Africa with Asia. So far, for some construction project, it's starting to look like the first milestone is going to cost a trillion dollars - American."

"If the People's Republic can carry out even that part of the plan, that will place their mark on Asia and Europe for the next century."

"Okay... So, cheaper shippin' for Asian products t'new markets. S'not exactly as sinister as all that." she bobs her head ever so slightly, raising a brow, "Or is it?"

Maus - Today at 8:15 PM

"In contrast, if you know your Cold War History, the American Marshall Plan was 110 billion dollars in today's money to rebuild the European economy. That was intended to make Europe a bulwark against Communist aggression."

* "It's a bit more than just cheaper goods, suffice to say. It's a real rat race in the embassies of the world right now, trying to secure their place at the trough. Does that come with Communist Chinese strings attached? We're there to find out."(edited)

Rachna hums softly and scratches her neck, "Well, that figures. Watch an' see that the communism's kept in check. The American dream...Guess it's more fun than' what Ah'd thought t'start. So that's it, then? We get this place, ship most've our assets to the Mediterranean Sea an' thereabouts t'keep an eye on all them... Shit, though, s'gonna be uh long haul type've gig  if we're watchin' every country that has t'deal with 'em. An' Ah'm no fan of nautical themed adventure."

"Oh good. Snow days forever, then. S'better than the alternative. Though, uh... Well, color me surprised if China's gonna press any terms on Putin. Ah mean, they're sorta buddied up in the first place anyways, aren't they? An' Ah can't see mister ex-KGB makin' much concession..."

* "The trouble with Russia is that it naturally has a very... Napoleonic opinion of politics. They speak of a balance of power, of resource control, of their weakness in society. You may see The Russian Federation and the PRC saying nice things on camera, but The Belt and Road Initiative?"

* "It's an attempt to plant a trillion dollars in what Russia considers its back door. Never mind the fighting the Soviet Union used to have with the People's Republic."

* "There's a good reason we hire LEOs as much as we do operators. Low intensity was your day job."

* "Besides, there's rioting in Italy right now. You're probably going to be working right alongside that." he adjusts his tie.

Rachna clears her throat and shrugs, "Hey now. Ah was SWAT as well, yeah? But that's hardly the point either way. Jus' notin' that it's tame compared t'kidnappin' uh Frenchy or such. Nice t'know there's time to enjoy the view too... Er... Or not. But Ah don't imagine we're helpin' the Italian Politzei out. Just uh hunch."

* George chews on the thought. "If anything, our vehicles are likely for a European theatre. They'd be too conspicuous in Tunis or Aqaba, there's a reason we're not linking into Syria from Turkey, and from what it sounds like, we're going to be operating all along that coast."

* "Seems like it suggests we may be in for more of the same, like the time we picked up the dead FSB colonel in Paris."

* "and if we're going into Italy during rioting and a constitutional crisis..."

Rachna sighs and nods, "Yeah, we'll have to work around riots and riot cops one way or another, I hear ya."

* "I'd watch my ass if I were you, Miss." George somberly replies. "You're likely going to be involved in the political process, one way or another."

* "Rachna!" Tavon  calls from across the floor.

"Get your shit over here!"

Rachna snirks and shakes her head, "Yeah, well... Hope I don't fuck it up, right? Best I can do!" she offers a curt nod before pivoting to start towards Tavon's calling with a light clopping jog.

* Tavon walks along with Rachna outside, glancing over his shoulder at the Beemers with some skepticism. He tosses the thought of them away as Rachna meets with him, "Finally... I just got the arrangements on my side of the table out of the way. Some of the shit you're about to get is a top shelf secret, so don't say a damn thing to anybody that's not cleared, alright?"

I can only imagine what the Iranians are going to do in order to support the Syrian Army, so you're going to be worrying about Intelligence Operators sneaking around and trying to find out who you work for if they sniff you out."

* "About right. You'll be leading an 8 man team, 4 interpreters. You're reporting to me, I tell you what's gonna happen and why, but you just decide how you're going to make it happen. You get it?"

She nods quickly, "Yeah, got it. Tactical flexibility an' whatnot... Enough autonomy that the chain of command ain't a liability."

* Tavon's expression drops into a toothsome smile. "Mission command, Good. You're on my wavelength then. I want you to keep thinking with me like that through this shit, alright? Any questions?"(edited)

* "Gear's shipped by boat, we're going by plane." he explains. "I haven't gotten all the details down, but I know my whole platoon's going over to the sandbox, Suha's gonna get hands on with this since she knows the area well. I do know Zaki's picking our interpreters."

* Tavon takes a walk with Rachna outside of the facility as they talk, pacing fast in a perpendicular line to the ocean front as they continue conversing. "But do you know anything about why we have a stripped down beemer in the shop?"
