  1. At the council meeting, Grung explained a bit of a rudimentary plan, but then we quickly noticed some hobgoblins on top of the council chamber. We swiftly dealt with them only to learn they were a decoy for a few others that had blown up the entrance to the Library of Eternity. We rushed over and met the librarian, Tersi. I returned the book from the church in Verolan and explained the situation with the hobgoblins. Tersi was very happy to join us in protecting her library and books, so we rushed off after them. Along our way, we met a few interesting faces, one of them being Orntha’all. Turns out he is a regular of the library and inside, Asmodeus cannot hear our conversations. We talked about how I had been a bit distant and I learned he was the General of the 11th legion of the Nine Hells. While we were chasing after the hobgoblins, Reynold also went to talk to him. Apparently she was ‘Reynold the Renegade’ and there was a man hunt after her once she left after being a gladiator in the first level of the Nine Hells. She asked for more information, but Orntha’all would only give it as a deal, one that Reynold did not except. While they were talking, someone else came over from inside the library. They informed me that there is actually a way to get out of my contract. It would require me to find someone that is “worthy” of the Tyrant’s Embrace and that I would “know” when I met that person that was worthy and the contract would be changed over to that person. I wasn’t able to get the name of the person who told me this as they had some other research to do, but I would like to meet them again at some point to get their name. Grung and Nyx also spoke with Orntha’all but I didn’t really catch their conversations since I was talking to the other figure. We found that the hobgoblins were trying to get a book of “The Keymaker”. We continued to follow them, running into someone who is either prophetic or crazy. He said to Torgan that at some point the weight of the world would be on his shoulders, to Nyx, that the prophet of shadows speaks for the night mistress, to me that the one to make the trade I’ve already met, and to Hunt, “I’m so sorry”. When we finally caught up to the hobgoblins, it was quite a fight. Apparently Nyx died but was revived by Reynold before I learned of her death. I’ll give more detail about the Keymaker’s Journal in a bit. Along the way back to the front of the library I did learn a few interesting things: Grung killed Torgan’s brother’s best friend, Grung somehow got the Deck of Many Things back, and anything written ever is in the library, including this journal as I write it. So we got back to the front of the library, only to find commander Xiall there with a few other hobgoblins. She offered us a deal. She would let us leave Temprel and go kill all the other generals including Vakkar the warlord, and when we are done, Xiall will round up all the hobgoblins and go back to Marnis. I was going to ask a few more questions, but then Grung decided that he would try to use magic on her and it got us into a little bit of a battle, but it ended quickly when he went unconscious and Xiall asked if we wanted to consider her deal, which we did. Xiall gave us plenty of helpful information. Vakkar is using a magical Armor of Autonomy, making him very difficult to kill, but in the Keymaker’s Journal, it describes a Chaos Key that can take it off. If we were to kill all the generals, including Xiall, the remaining hobgoblins would just try to kill whomever they could before getting killed themselves. Xiall knows that under better leadership, she can take the legion back to Marnis and hold their own at home, which is why she is fine with the deal she gave. Drelvos is the general in Verolan alongside Vakkar. Altra and Orvidin are in Gardenveil. The twins use geurilla warfare and if one of them dies, the other will soon after. Krallig is in the east trying to deal with Glasswallow. He has a bugbear along with strength in numbers. Xiall recommended that we get the books on the Chaos Key and Armor of Autonomy, then lay low for a couple of days before heading off to our next target. She did say that Zephyrham should be fine, however I’ll have to see for myself. While Torgan, Tersi, and a few of the others went to get the books, I enjoyed writing on his face “I am an idiot” as well as confiscating his teleportation staff and Deck of Many Things. Once we got the books, we headed off to tell the council to allow the occupation of the city. I let Tersi know of this journal in case I end up dead and this original is lost. We were able to talk to the council and convince them everything would be alright, then we stayed in the Unlucky Apple for the night. I read over the Keymaker’s Journal, while Nyx and Reynold read over books on the Armor of Autonomy. What I was able to learn from the journal, is that the Chaos Key is a powerful object that can unlock many things: actual locks, the mind, and even an infernal contract. In order to make this key, you will need gold, a casting mold, the heart of a Fey, and the essence of and elemental. In order to heat all these things up, you would need either a dragon’s flame, or a mithril forge. When it has been cast, you must quench it with demon’s blood of a certain power. The book says that while heating everything up, you should be summoning the demon (there is an incantation in the book itself), while the key is hardening, you should be killing the demon, and then cool the key off with the demon’s blood. It also warns that while going through the process of making the key, it alerts fey eleentals, and demons in some way because of the combination of such chaotic elements. Well, tomorrow is the day I find out of my family is okay. Here’s hoping.
