  17. removing several of these “booter” or “stresser” sites off the internet “as part of coordinated law enforcement action taken against illegal DDoS-for-hire services.” The orders were granted under federal seizure laws, and the domains were replaced with a federal notice.

  28. Great news. Every site they take down will probably be replaced by two new ones, but still the effort is good to see.

  57. That's great news, and I am glad something is finally being done about it.

  59. Doesn't seem to have affected the DDoS for Hire industry at all, our 200Gbps/100Mpps firewall is still getting hit all day long

  62. Are you seeing big attacks or many smaller ones?
  63.
  64. All of the attacks we've seen over the last year have been fairly small.
  65.
  66. Indeed, I'd say over 80% of the attacks are below 30Gbps.
  67.
  68. Rarely getting hit with Attacks that are 500Gbps or bigger but when they come, our Mitigation solution holds up just fine without any interruption.
  69.
  70. Luckily, 99.9% of attacks nowadays are made from 'stresser' and other folks with next to no technical knowledge on their own.
  71.
  72. The thing that really bothers me about DDoS attacks is all of the collateral damage. I would venture to guess those launching such attacks don't care one way or another though.
  73.
  74. I'm pretty sure they don't care at all. They do it for the shits and giggles.
  75.
  76. DDoS attacks are good for no one really good effort guys unfortunately it most likely does very little in the grand scheme but sometimes you gotta fight the good fight.

  81. Biggest problem is the companies accepting bitcoin and not tracking who orders, those types of customers can rent a dedicated server out and send attacks worse they get is the box or their site taken down, however it's still better than nothing being done about it.

  88. That's why any decent provider, should implement RPF checking on their network equipment to stop any ip spoofing from their customers.
  89.
  90. If you rent a dedicated server and pay with bitcoin and you can spoof, then the provider itself is probably well aware of what's happening, and this should be reported to the authorities immediately.
