Poplar Street Bio

Personality: Pop is as said before, a broken man. He currently defines himself by his relationship to Lyte and Nate Selleck, a very one sided and exploitative one. He will work tirelessly to protect his old friend as Nate continues his plan, from the many, many, many enemies around him. And Pop is *damn* good at his job. He hasn’t let a single person past so far.

Poplar is conflicted about Nate’s plan, resentful at being displaced from his company, and feels disgusted and cheated by Nate. He detests the plan, seeing it as one that will cause rampant death and mayhem, one poorly thought through and offensive to his more methodical tendencies. These negative feelings are buried deeply inside of him, due in large part to his own deception of himself and Nate’s moneyed words about his plan.

He continues to go along with Nate's plan because of a combination of feeling he has no other purpose, sunk cost fallacy that he has to stay with Nate as he’s gone through so much for him, and nostalgia for who Nate was in his youth. In other words, sheer stubbornness that he doesn't have any other choice than the one he has. These conflicting feelings and his sorry state cause him to be constantly depressed, wishy-washy, and tired in his bearing.

｢Alarm Call｣ is, in large part, the way it is by the suppressed parts of Poplar’s personality as well as the treatment it has received. It sees its users’ safety and happiness as its ‘primary directive’, and Poplar’s general wish to help others as a very close ‘secondary objective’. It absolutely and utterly despises Nate, who it feels as having exploited and strung along Poplar, putting him repeatedly in danger with his plan, which offends its primary directive. It has also calculated that Nate’s plan will cause a great amount of harm, offending its secondary one. It sees Nate as a scheming, arrogant, callous lowlife, and if Poplar allowed they would gladly kill the man.

｢Alarm Call｣ has been trained due to being forced to go along with the plans of people that they despise, and has become a very bitter, furtive being. While they legitimately means well and want to do good, they tend to play around with information and people to get its objectives done, and it is, like its user, very stubborn. It will tend to do things in a secretive manner due to that being the only way it’s had any success in the past with doing much of anything it wants to. Their experiences in Lyte and in Urban Uprising has led it to have a very low opinion of the Stand user community in general, though it appreciates the heroism that is often shown.
