Texture Analysis Comments

Translation of comments in the Texture Analysis exercise:

1. Crumpled paper
-Shaded areas dark and almost uniform
-Light areas almost uniform
-Penumbra areas form a gradient made of small wrinkles
-Smaller creases create stark shades with reduced gradients, almost discontinuities between light and dark

2. Detail of an unknown plant
-Very thick fleshy protrusions create very defined curved shadows
-Small wrinkles in the bulbs create subtle vein-like "canyons"
-Small hard looking "pimples" on many bulbs
-Wrinkles tend to form acute angles

3. Coral mass
-Cell pattern on a rough plane surface
-Stark shadows at the edge of the cell
-Creases on the cell walls
-Presence of pores in the cell which tend to disappear going towards its center
-Central pinprick
