  1. [20:28] Iosefka Coza exclaims, "Hello, Hello!"
  2. [20:28] Iosefka Coza asks, "Two guests tonight?"
  3. [20:29] Adar says, "Ah, Miss Iosefka! Yes. I just so happened to get my hands on a competent runesmith."
  4. [20:29] Iosefka Coza exclaims, "Excellent, excellent!"
  5. [20:29] Adar says, "This is Xeph."
  6. [20:29] Adar says, "He was quite eager to meet you."
  7. [20:29] Iosefka peers at Xeph closely, eyes squinting.
  8. (Iosefka Coza)
  9. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  10.
  11. [20:31] Xeph smiled at her like a small child looking at a fictional story book hero. He had heard hundreds of stories
  12.
  13. "It is a pleasure to meet you Iosefka, I have heard hundreds of stories of you the great Artificer from my father Xeke Remira. I am very happy to meet you, and to see you alive and well."
  14. (Xeph Remira)
  15. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  16.
  17. [20:34] The aging Artificer peers at Xeph, recognition dawning on her face. Then confusion. She didn't want to think about the chronological ramifications of what just came out of Xeph's mouth, so she decides instead to gesture them inside.
  18.
  19. "Alive and well, and probably outliving this island at this rate." The cryptic reply is followed up by a wave of her hand. "Come, come, let's get inside. We have work to do, yes?"
  20. (Iosefka Coza)
  21. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  22.
  23. [20:41] He nodded with a warm smile, though the ramifications they were thinking of were easily described in a less disturbing way than what they must be thinking.
  24.
  25. "Yes, let us get to work, do tell me of this device, or creation you need my skills for. What are your plans? Also pardon my manners, but would either of you care for a cup of tea?"
  26.
  27. As usual he pulled out a small portable tea set, more so revealed portions of hidden away in his satchel to show that he had it on hand in case they desired it.
  28.
  29. "I always find conversation is far more pleasant over a drink."
  30. (Xeph Remira)
  31. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  32.
  33. [20:58] By waltzing into the lodge following the Artificer's footsteps, Adar's vivid halo soon filled the room's entire structure. Within walls, his vibrant presence would become all the more obvious, only for it to intensely perk up in it's soothing qualities whenever interest or dedication would overtake his feelings.
  34.
  35. "Ah, a tea enthusiast." Adar elegantly cheered, relating to the young crafter's appraisal of the hot beverage as a ritual of conversation and reunion. "I'll gladly take a cup, if you don't mind." His snobby taste of brews was something to be wary of however.
  36.
  37. "I'll break it down for you. This is not a simple task." A nod, as he'd start the debriefing. With a wave of his hand, the field of action of Adar's influence manifested itself in a drag of synesthesia. Both Iosefka and Xeph could get a better grasp of his words by having them connect with mental images woven directly into their psyche by inertia.
  38.
  39. "We're creating a sophisticated tool for navigation and casting." The vague silhouette of the idealized artifact would slowly draw itself abstractly within their inner-senses. "It's properties would allow for it to be used to peer into the different realms via it's lens crystal. It is also meant to amplify it's reach, as well as aid my spellcasting abilities."
  40.
  41. The sparring use of the 'eyepiece' term would be clearly analogical. Adar made haste to further explained why. "Though it's not meant to work with sight. But be exclusively limited to a developed sixth sense."
  42.
  43. While in proximity to the scholar's figure, both Xeph and Iosefka would've surely felt the stare of a million eyes focus on their figures. Gazing over from every angle and disposition. All of them bore the particular intensity of Adar's idéefixe and passion. He was everywhere. He was far, near. He was ahead, behind, above, below, beside - inside.
  44.
  45. "I'm sure you've noticed what I mean by now. Miss Iosefka managed to get a taste of it's earlier iterations. Though now, it functions as passively as one's hearing."
  46.
  47. A pause, as his metaphorical gaze shifted to the Neries once more. "Should we go over the ingredients and stages of fabrication? I'm unsure of where Xeph's work would come into play as of yet."
  48. (Adar)
  49. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  50.
  51. [21:07] "Don't really drink tea anymore. Just water and jam." She would croak as she sat down, rolling her shoulders.
  52.
  53. "You're here, Xeph, because I need a runescribe to help assemble the pieces once I'm done putting everything together." She'd explain. "I'm only a blacksmith, and though my artificery is second to literally no one, I still relied on my husband's runes to get work done. Unfortunately he's retired from that, so I can't rely on his perfection."
  54.
  55. She stretches her arms over her head as the blind man flexes his magic.
  56.
  57. "We can, if you like, Adar. But Xeph's inclusion in this whole thing isn't until later. I'm happy to have met him, but for now he's... Well. Waiting for work, as it were. I'll be able to guide him with each piece as I finish them, but, again, that'll be after a while."
  58.
  59. She shrugs.
  60.
  61. "Once we finish each piece, we can explain what it is and what we want him to do. Easy as that."
  62. (Iosefka Coza)
  63. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  64.
  65. [21:09] Xeph nodded with his usual warm smile and kindness.
  66.
  67. "Thank you for this, I have been looking for a project for quite some time. I would like to ask if you could grant me any notes or plans so I may start practicing the required runes in the meantime."
  68.
  69. He looked to Adar and spoke to both of them at once. While he did this he brewed Adar and pleasant cup of green tea and set about a jar of honey, sugar, and milk for them to partake in.
  70.
  71. "Whatever task it is you need of me, I shall do my best to assist you."
  72.
  73.
  74. (Xeph Remira)
  75. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  76.
  77. [21:24] Adar would vaguely puzzlingly cast his pale, slightly exorbitant gaze between the two for a spare moment, wondering whether such ahead instructions could be granted. After all, it was the Artificer's call to make, not his. His insight on tinkering and permanent seals was in comparison, at most, minimal.
  78.
  79. Moving on however, he'd direct the focus of the conversation towards the first step of the plan.
  80.
  81. "To start off, we'll likely need to put together the raw vessel of the stave out of Arcanium and Orichalcum. Along with it, the treetop in which the glass gem would go. This would function as the general structure from which we'll model the rest of the elements into. After we've got it together, we're game to switch focus onto the catalysts and counter-weights." Clearly referring to the nethradin pieces and elemental core.
  82.
  83. "After finishing those up, we should probably work on the most sensitive element - the geist crystal. It's essentially the centerpiece of the whole project. Therefore, it may require some arduous noggin-cracking labor."
  84.
  85. A pause, as he quickly weaves through ideas forward.
  86.
  87. "What I'll surely be needing Xeph in is with the blessing part. Tuning it to the lighthouse's cluster telescope, as well as the arcane tree's essence. I can't do these on my own."
  88.
  89. Then, within an interval, he'd try to link up his sight with the Neries in complicity, yet clearly seeking some sort of permission or approval.
  90.
  91. "Does that sound good as a schedule? I don't mean to overstep with your usual flow of work."
  92. (Adar)
  93. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  94.
  95. [21:26] Iosefka Coza says, "Sounds fine by me. We can fashion the gemstone tonight, and you and Xeph here can trot over to the lighthouse when I'm done."
  96. [21:26] Xeph Remira says, "That sounds quite alright, and my workflow sadly has been empty as of late."
  97. [21:33] Iosefka watches Xeph leave for the night, and gets up from her seat to her work station. She pulls a draw string, and the windows all open up wide. Roof slats slide open to allow in more airflow and sunlight, and the Artificer clears away some of the moss and plant life from her workbench.
  98.
  99. She bends beneath the table to press on a bellow, and a fire kindles in her forge. She furrows a brow and takes out a large ceramic clay kiln. She digs through her other things, pulling out a pouch of mundane sand and setting it on the table.
  100.
  101. "Alright, Adar. If you'd be so kind as to fill this kiln for me." She'd say, beckoning the boy over. "I need one scoop of regular sand for every two scoops of your geist sand. It'll help reduce the melting point and make this whole process a lot easier for my body."
  102.
  103. She then leaves the container be and moves toward her forge, furrowing her brow and prodding the charcoal within as she reconfigures its internal temperature.
  104.
  105. "... It's going to get extremely hot in here, by the way. Just warning you now."
  106. (Iosefka Coza)
  107. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  108.
  109. [21:55] With the scribe taking his leave in favor of rest and practice for the time being, the procedure of glass shaping had officially started. A dismissive shake of his head would anticipate the eventual response.
  110.
  111. "Worry not, I've lived next to the mouth of a volcano, in the cold surface of the peaks of Agartha - even several kilometers above low orbit. I can handle a furnace and a clay kiln."
  112.
  113. Rolling up his sleeves, and after ridding the surface of his area from vegetation and dust, he'd start the arduous labor of balancing the levels of mortal sand and the phantasmal mineral. In the large amounts Adar had procured, only so much of the dusty matter could be held together by the heating recipient before becoming cluttered.
  114.
  115. "This is meant to be portable. I'm unsure of how much will the transformation reduce the dioxide in density. Should we work it in batches?"
  116.
  117. After all, in practice and manipulation, Geist sand was a complete riddle. In time, the proportions had been thoroughly measured and placed in.
  118.
  119. "Should I help you with that? You know - fire magic."
  120. (Adar)
  121. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  122.
  123. [22:13] Something clicks from below, and the glow of the furnace grows. Flames turn from orange to pure white. The blast of heat from her workshop could be felt from quite a distance away, and the forge began to reach temperatures that were not normal.
  124.
  125. Her own skin prickled, and sweat beaded across her body from the proximity.
  126.
  127. "Sand turns to molten glass at the blistering temperature of fifteen hundred degrees, which is what we're making that gemstone out of... You know. Molten geist sand. We'll be fashioning it out of the glass once it starts to cool and cutting it appropriately." She explains. The room begins to heat up. The furnace's metal begins to blister and turn white, though as her hand comes to touch it, energy from within shields the metal - and herself - appropriately.
  128.
  129. "Energy, actually, is how I keep in control of my workshop. Maintaining a steady control over the flow of energy, both of mana and my combustion methods, means I can hit higher temperatures without hazardous flames. Or electricity, for that matter..." She scrunches up her face in thought. "Anyway. Please hand me the kiln, I'll stick it up and then we'll - hopefully - only need to suffer the depths of a volcano for about a minute."
  130.
  131. Her skin glows with a wispy black sheen of inky starlight. She holds out her hand.
  132.
  133. "The sand, please."
  134. (Iosefka Coza)
  135. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  136.
  137. [22:31] With the abrupt combustion of the furnace's source of heat, Adar's overall demeanor would grow tensely defensive. An airfoil of significantly dimmer, pale orange blazes would manifest at his back, cocooning him out of the outburst of violent temperature for it's initial wake.
  138.
  139. The navigator heaved in modest distress when coming to the realization of the stakes they'd be working under.
  140.
  141. "I-I understand." After an initial twist of his tongue in stuttering, he'd utilize his magnetic manipulation properties to haltingly send the kiln floating towards her, so as to avoid nearing the dwarf-star worthy heat of her furnace. Incapable of such protective properties, and solely shielded by the girth of the virtue of wisdom, as well as his own resistance to fire, inching closer would've possibly made him pass out.
  142.
  143. "Here's the kiln. Watch out, it's pretty beefy in it's contents. Might get bubbly through temperature."
  144.
  145. His breathing progressively accelerated. Salivation became harder as the edges of his mouth dried out.
  146.
  147. "I'm ready."
  148. (Adar)
  149. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  150.
  151. [22:51] Iosefka takes hold of the kiln and immediately thrusts it into the heart of the furnace. Something crackles and flakes off her muscular arms. Despite her age, she still had the look of a blacksmith. She grits her teeth and grimaces as her arm comes back out, and she closes the lid of the furnace to keep the heat inside.
  152.
  153. Unfortunately, it still bled out into the room, and the sweltering heat still managed to blur the air.
  154.
  155. "It most certainly will, Adar. But you won't have to worry too long." She said. Soon, her grip on the front of the forge started to glow with a different sort of magic, and the distant sound of a ticking clock could be heard echoing through the furnace. Iosefka blinks, as more of her magic bled into her work, and soon, she'd deactivate it all.
  156.
  157. The energy bled out, time seemed to return to normal inside the furnace, and Iosefka would reach in and take out the kiln once more with the gooey, liquid-like substance inside. She immediately set out pouring it into a large, circular mold.
  158.
  159. "... This won't be the shape it'll take up. I'll be carving it into shape later." She'd explain. "Geist sand is a bit thicker and less fragile than glass. I'll just be reheating this, and... Well, blah, blah blah."
  160.
  161. She lets the last of the molten geist glass set in the mold, then lets it cool.
  162.
  163. "... But for now, I think we'll have to call it. I'm sweating like a pig, and I need to let this place air out. I'll hand over the finished piece for the lighthouse in a few weeks' time. OK?"
  164. (Iosefka Coza)
  165. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  166.
  167. [23:00] With the harsh procedure eventually ending, Adar would half collapse in one of the seats off to the side. Then, huffing his lungs out entirely, he'd fan the lower side of his face in exhaustion. As the mold was taken and filled, he'd lower his head between his knees in a desperate attempt to gather oxygen and steer clear of the way of heat.
  168.
  169. Eventually finding his way back into composure and shape, the navigator would reincorporate his posture and shoot back a nod at the artificer, still rather struck by surprise at the unwavering spirit and resilience in her craft. It was as if age had not phased the neries at all.
  170.
  171. "Understood. I'll leave you to it." The place had wholly turned into a brutal sauna within the span of a minute or two. Escaping its confines was an urgency as things were.
  172.
  173. "No rush. Should I have any of the other materials cured or prepared in any particular way in the meantime?"
  174.
  175. Racing through his words, eager seemed short of an adjective to describe the keepers intent to walk through the door.
  176.
  177. Water. Water. Water.
  178. (Adar)
  179. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  180.
  181. [23:07] Iosefka wipes her hands as she steps out.
  182. (Iosefka Coza)
  183. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  184.
  185. [23:07] Iosefka Coza asks, "We should be fine. I'll see you after all this clears out, yes?"
  186. [23:07] Iosefka Coza says, "Have a good night, Adar."
