  1. “You know, it isn’t too late to back out Mr. Officer.”
  2.
  3. “Ha! You would like that, wouldn’t you Princess?”
  4.
  5. “I just don’t want to be the one to carry you out after we finish this match, fox.”
  6.
  7. “I won’t need to be carried this time, you are going down today!”
  8.
  9. Nick couldn’t keep the grin off of his face as he stood in the ZPD boxing ring, his green eyes glowering at the female striped rabbit in front of him.
  10.
  11. These little sparing matches between him and the ZIA bunny agent, Jill Savage, had started a few months ago. At first, it was merely training; Jill came in to teach him, as a favor to his partner Judy, how to handle mammals smaller than him, since his ZPD training consisted of detaining much larger animals.
  12.
  13. The lessons worked; Nick was now able to hold down the smaller faster criminals that used to evade him so much.
  14.
  15. However, Nick insisted on continuing the sparing when he realized one glaring detail-
  16.
  17. He had never, in all their matches, been able to beat Jill despite his advancements.
  18.
  19. So, once a week, Nick challenged Jill to a few matches; and week after week he continued to end up in the same position, with the rabbit on top of him, a combat baton at his neck, and her teasing that he keeps “falling for her”.
  20.
  21. It was embarrassing enough for the fox that he kept losing to the doe, but the fact that the feeling of the admittedly, if only to himself, attractive rabbit on top of him did things for him was just the icing on the cake. Nick was just thankful that Jill never seemed to notice his body’s reactions before Judy called for the next round.
  22.
  23. He was a stubborn fox however, and would not let up. If he could beat Judy, even if it had been only one time that was not a fluke, he could surely win a match against the blue-eyed doe one day.
  24.
  25. And today was that day, he could just feel it!
  26.
  27. Normally, his partner would be the one to act as the “referee” in these matches, calling out when Nick had lost and carrying his tail home when he was too hurt to move. She was on vacation however, visiting her family in Bunny Burrow. Nick and Jill didn’t care too much about the lack of a ref; they knew their limits and how far a match should go.
  28.
  29. Or at least, how much Nick could take.
  30.
  31. Jill smirked from her side of the ring and pulled out her small, whip-like combat baton, a leftover from the matches that used to be only lessons, “Whenever you are ready, Officer Wilde.”
  32.
  33. Nick sneered and shifted forward-
  34.
  35. Just like always, Jill’s speed nearly caught him off-guard and it was only due to muscle memory that he managed to raise his arms in time, blocking the stick from impacting his shoulder.
  36.
  37. Before the bunny could create distance between them, Nick managed to grasp her bicep with one paw and tried to swing her body around to lock her in a grab with his other arm. Jill used the momentum to smash her shoulder into the fox’s stomach, throwing her entire weight into the blow and causing Nick to back up, releasing his grip on the rabbit.
  38.
  39. Nick felt something hit the back of his legs, making him lose his balance and land on his rear. Another body slammed into him, causing him to fall back further; if it wasn’t for the sudden hold on his tie, Nick’s head would have hit the floor.
  40.
  41. Like so many times these last few months, Nick found himself face to face with Jill sitting on his stomach, her weapon pressed against his throat and her piercing blue eyes staring at him.
  42.
  43. Despite his loss, the fox felt his face heat up with something that wasn’t completely irritation at the sight of the female on top of him.
  44.
  45. “You know, sooner or later you’ll have to admit that you love me Officer. Why else would you keep falling for me?” Jill said with a leering expression, her ears draping her shoulders.
  46.
  47. Nick scoffed, thankful for the red fur on his face, “Yeah yeah, keep mocking me.”
  48.
  49. Jill hummed thoughtfully from her position, making the fox clench his jaw as he waited for the doe to get off of him. She was usually up by now…
  50.
  51. “That sounds like dodging to me; I guess I’ll just have to keep knocking you off your feet until you admit it.” Jill chuckled as she finally stood up, helping Nick up with a pull of his tie.
  52.
  53. The fox shook his head as he regained his balance, eying the rabbit as she took her place on the opposite side of the ring. “I’ll admit that I “love” you when I finally take you down.”
  54.
  55. “Now now Officer, you know we aren’t suppose to take bribes.”
  56.
  57. Nick frowned, raising his arms as he took his position. Did this rabbit even stop to listen to herself? He wondered if this was really just part of her banter or if she was even the slightest bit serious-
  58.
  59. Jill’s movement snapped Nick out of his thoughts; he only just managed to jump to the side as the rabbit rushed him, her weapon slicing through empty space.
  60.
  61. The fox continued to go on the defensive, taking jumps back as Jill tried to strike him with her baton. Each attempt grazed Nick, and he knew eventually the doe would catch up to him.
