Job Description



Job Title: Engineering Manager, Linux Desktop +
Location: Home based with broadband connection (ideally North American or Western European Time Zones).

Salary: Very competitive (Not a constraint for the right talent)

Job Type: Permanent

Role summary
• To contribute to the delivery of a suite of integrated personal cloud services.
• To develope and integrate these services on Linux desktop and other platforms (Windows, OSx).

Key responsibilities and accountabilities
• Manage a technical team,
• Work with others to manage projects including feature development and software packaging
• Work with others ensuring that dependencies are handled and realistic deadlines set
• Maintain good relationships with the operating platform team and community developers
• Lead in regular development meetings which will involve international travel
• Create and sustain a culture of continuous process improvement and code review

Required skills and experience
• Strong team management skills to deliver multiple concurrent projects (3yrs+/3+ man team)
• Excellent communications skills in the English language
• History of developing productive relations with open-source groups
• Ability to be productive in a distributed team
• Technical expertise in Linux desktop components (GNOME, GTK, compiz, X, etc.)
• Technical expertise in multiple desktop platforms (Windows, OSx, Linux)

Desirable skills and experience
• Extensive experience of the Linux and free software world, and solid knowledge of relevant
industry trends
