  1. Astro Malaysia Holdings (MYX: 6399) is a Malaysian media and entertainment holding company that began as a paid digital satellite radio and television service, Astro. The company is owned by Astro Holdings Sendirian Berhad, which also owns Astro Overseas Limited.

  4. Astro Ria is a 24-hour Bahasa Malaysia television channel exclusive to the Astro satellite television provider. It was one of the first 22 channels to be launched on Astro in 1996. Astro Ria offers a variety of shows including news, Indonesian drama Malaysia, movies, reality shows, sports, talk shows, cartoons, concerts, sitcoms, documentaries, cooking shows, quizzes and more.

The show became so popular in Malaysia and Brunei that spin-off versions were made in Indonesia and Thailand. A second season was made, which enabled Brunei viewers to vote as well. In its third season, 14 contestants instead of the original 12 were competing for the competition and the winner, Mawi became an instant music celebrity. A fourth season started in May 2006.

  10. Astro Ria also hosts various prestigious annual events in the entertainment world such as the Era Awards broadcast, the Malaysian Film Festival, the Space Series Awards and also aired UMNO General Assembly live from the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC).

  12. In May 2002, Astro Ria launched Bloomberg RIA News, which was essentially the Malay-language version of Bloomberg News Malaysia. The news was aired at 10:45 pm on weekdays. Berita Astro ceased production at the end of January 2007 and later launched a new news division, in which Astro Awani was launched in September 2007.   173. LiteFM was launched into Malaysian FM airwaves in January 1997 after being one of Astro's audio-only channels since the launch of the satellite network in October the year before. It was formerly known as Light & Easy and was renamed "Lite FM" on 20 November 2006. Lite FM begins in 1997 as an oldies format focusing songs mainly from the 1950s to the 1970s targeting an older audience above 45 years old. However, since the change of the station's name and logo, Lite FM gradually changed into an easy listening adult contemporary music format, with more current tracks from the 1990s till now have been added into Lite FM's playlist as now the station wants to target a younger audience rather than the older ones. Since 2009, the station has focused on playing music mainly from the 1980s and 1990s, which was previously held by Mix FM and now with less frequency on playing 1960s and 1970s music each hour. The primary focus on playing 1950s to 1970s music is now going on at Gold, one of the Astro satellite music channels. The focus on songs played changed again in 2013, with the station opted to concentrate on songs from the 1980s and beyond. In addition, it no longer plays 1960s music during the weekday and 1960s music is only heard during the weekends. With the focus of the station changed, several songs from the 1960s and 1970s were also dropped from the playlist.

The radio station went on air on 1 August 1998. The radio station was once the leader in Malay-language FM radio stations, but has lost its popularity to its sister station, Sinar FM. The country had only one Chinese-language radio station before this, which was the government-owned Radio Malaysia Channel 5.

Currently, Astro uses the enhanced VideoGuard encryption system for B.yond boxes as it features smart card pairing technology, where the smart card is only allowed for the particular set-top-box issued by Astro, and it is no longer interchangeable like the legacy Astro set-top-boxes.
