How to Begin

You will need a clean character, with no Imperium membership on an account with no Imperium characters. Occasionally a really keen and unusually capable hostile alliance will not just take your API but actually do more with it than lick it or try to make toast with it. No mails, no trades, no nothing. If you do have the odd trade that’s fine: just do some station trading, start your spying career with people who won’t care and probably won’t check and you’ll almost certainly get through.

The best places to start are the newbie-friendly groups. Fortunately a bunch of them are potential targets right now, as members of Hero Coalition, so you can be useful from the start. BNI is easy to get into, you’ll have fun there, they have a decent if weird culture and you’ll get tons of kills. The rest of N3 views Spaceship Samurai as spies already but they are still N3 members and are confirmed goonhaters – it’s basically their raison d’etre - and if nothing else you can just steal stuff. Nexus are also lightly-camouflaged N3 members so you’ll end up recycled somewhere useful.

Test churn members like nobody else in a given year so if you have a qualifying reddit account without a huge history of posts saying “Goons are great, grrr test, test suck” then you’ll probably find yourself in Black Legion in a few weeks. Actually we probably have just about enough in BL for now but if they continue to fracture it is handy to get people into more of their successor groups.

Alternatively, get a pilot into RvB, get a bunch of kills and then apply to any given N3 corp: they will see a few hundred kills and snap you up, and you’ll have fun getting them. There are more options but those are decent fallbacks.

Clean E-mail - Go to Gmail or w/e and set up a fucking sterile e-mail account that has no link to your RL or GSF identities. We’ll wait.

Clean Skype - Voice comms for your handler can be useful, especially across TZ. Use that shiny new Gmail to open a dedicated Skype account. This is mainly to talk to Mittens since he is too lazy to type while I hate people and avoid speaking to them.

Once you have your clean set-up in place, speak to Darkstarwarrior or Doc Weed on jabber. If they are not around and you must contact someone then contact Vicki Rail.

There is plenty of intelligence to be found in plain sight or through non-spy channels.

Is your Mom in Pandemic Legion? Are you a dirty enemy spy who wants to come in from the cold (it happens )? Did the Paraguayan pre-op bathroom attendant at your favorite gloryhole mention something about an Ev0ke strategic op?

If you stumble across information that you suspect may be useful to the Alliance, you can pass that on to Black Hand through our dropbox. Just paste the log, mail, images, homegrown jpegs, etc. into an e-mail and send that shit to Goonfleet.intelligence@Gmail.com.

You don’t see as much forum porn as you used to. The competent hostiles use steganography (using word substitutions, hidden backgrounds (for screenshots), spaces, spelling errors, line feeds and more) to ID spies when they flaunt their intel prowess. You can give raw dumps to Black Hand agent handlers but if passing on intel elsewhere (because you have been explicitly told you can) then just tl;dr it into a summary in your own words.
