  1. Thanks everyone for gathering around the fire and sharing your thoughts on structure and organization. I do
  2. believe it couldn't be more true that decentralization doesn't mean disorganization. Since the launch of this
  3. project we have enjoyed (or rather not) the entrance and exit of people that took it upon themselves to create a
  4. degree of value based on their volunteer work. Fundamentally - this helped jump start the project and to this
  5. day the very core of what makes a project in this industry work remains very well intact - the continuity of
  6. community and their willingness to give - because in most cases they believe in the image and the mission of
  7. being a part of a movement that operates not only globally but (mostly) in the same direction and with a common
  8. goal - an opportunity for all.
  9.
  10. People that have come and stayed, help towards the mission to this day, people that came and left taught us a
  11. lesson. The lesson? Well in my opinion it's the reminder that is the nature of human psychology and in a lot of
  12. cases, unfortunately, the need for some to be in a position of control and power, albeit disguised as "I'm just
  13. being a leader to help the project move forward". The persons we've learned carry with them a noticeable
  14. pattern of practice and that is: _I'll volunteer my time but eventually I want something in return (but I wont
  15. tell you that yet) and if I don't get it - I'll hurt your project because well you hurt me._
  16. If people that are volunteering their time make an exit - and can already hurt the project - then: *1)* people
  17. that the community hold in a regard as a 'leader' will see their departure as having lost a valuable asset
  18. because this person seemed to be very involved and now the project will die. In some cases the person did little
  19. and still tried to project that they were heavily involved. *2)* the departing person will have had in their
  20. position some community asset and will destroy it to hurt the progress of the project. This is in my opinion is
  21. the result of a thirst for power and control and they realized they weren't going to get it - it drives these
  22. types wild. This is a predominant effect of organized but decentralized leadership - because as we've seen we
  23. operate under pseudonyms mostly and people feel they can't be reached. That's only one of the issues.
  24. We've had, at least 5 times that I can remember, investors approach us asking for control of a certain component
  25. of the project (marketing, PR, development, controlled announcements, who knows what else). Our answer has
  26. always been - we cannot deliver control of something we don't have control of ourselves. One of them was
  27. strategically intelligent - they asked for control of our public facing components: Social media. Why? because
  28. they wanted to control the timing of when the news comes out - in other words - keep certain news under wraps
  29. while we buy a shitload of coins, then we'll release the news. At least that was my assessment of them, and we
  30. kindly said - sorry but we can't do that. (edited)
  31.
  32. As Hyxt said - trust. Trust has been a very critical component of assembling a community like this - the persons
  33. that do have access to the infrastructure have proven to this point to be of trustworthy nature and there will
  34. be more to come - I think decentralization of the community assets takes time and will continue to take time to
  35. add more persons to have access to the community assets. The only reason why this has to be this way is because
  36. as mentioned earlier - the power hungry will destroy based on an imaginary attack on them. You're right, and
  37. you're not the first and wont be the last to say that decentralization doesn't mean disorganization - but
  38. honestly the people that have done what you see here have assembled on their own, without any incentive other
  39. than to be part of the BitcoinZ progression because they truly believe in the mission - they essentially are
  40. self-proclaimed - through their actions, and the only involvement we've had is publicizing their efforts because
  41. they informed us of their efforts.
  42.
  43. _This_ is what decentralization is - no group of people have to tell you and hound you to do it - you do it
  44. because you want to.
