  1. --------Chapter I--------
  2.
  3. >Entering the big top, you had to almost fight through the crowd.
  4. >Glancing around, you see some posters hyping up the show; "You'll never believe your eyes!", "Jaw dropping!"
  5. >You were never a fan of the circus.
  6. >Clowns creeped you out and you were well past the age to be amused by the usual circus tricks.
  7. >Sure, it was the world famous Cirque des Cartes.
  8. >But it could be a cheap hastily grouping of street performers for all you cared.
  9. >You only got a ticket to see the show because you won it on a radio show.
  10. >You debated on whether or not to just scalp it for some money, but you had nothing to do today.
  11. >At least you could poke fun at it all.
  12. >You take a seat in the stands.
  13. >The ringmaster walks to the center of the arena and waves to quiet the spectators.
  14. >"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the most amazing show in the world!"
  15. >Instantly the crowd went wild with cheers and applause before dying down.
  16. >"I would like to introduce our first act for the night..."
  17. >You almost drifted off there.
  18. >Didn't help that you had an awful sleep schedule.
  19. >Looking down at the arena you see some animal trainer lion taming.
  20. >Nothing interesting here.
  21. >You nap for five minutes and awake to see to burly men in a strongman competition.
  22. >It's more engaging than the first act, but nothing to write home about.
  23. >You do see a vendor walking among the stand, offering concessions.
  24. >You might not be a fan of the performances, but you aren't going to pass up on the snacks.
  25. >Waving him down, you get some popcorn and cotton candy.
  26. >The snacks helped you pay attention to the rest of the act, then ringmaster shows up again.
  27. >"This next act will more than make up for any disappointments!"
  28. >Somehow you doubted that.
  29. >"I bring you the fantastic duo you've been waiting for! The diamond in the rough! The flying ace! Cerebella and Feng!"
  30. >The spotlights move from the ringleader to a tightrope, and there you see her.
  31. >You knew who Cerebella is, everyone in the kingdom does.
  32. >And if she's half as good as the hype this might make the trip worth it.
  33. >She seems to be using her odd hat to balance elephants, an admirable feat.
  34. >But you're sure there's some sort of trickery going on here, she can't possible be lifting that many elephants.
  35. >On top of the elephants is a lithe girl who has some Dragon empire blood in her.
  36. >She does amazing acrobatics leaping from one stack of elephants to the next.
  37. >There's a point where she balances on them, almost teetering on the edge.
  38. >There's no net to catch her.
  39. >How far-fetched this whole thing is seals the deal that there has to be some form of bullshittery.
  40. >Surely the circus wouldn't let their performers do something so dangerous.
  41. >After the pair traversed the tightrope, the crowd began chanting for an encore.
  42. >Cerebella flipped upside down and began traversing the tightrope using only her hat's arms.
  43. >The whole thing creeped you out a bit, you just never liked clowns.
  44. >Still, you had to clap when she was done; it was still a pretty good performance.
  45. >After the crowd was done showering her with praise, the ringmaster took center stage.
  46. >Some of the crowd seemed to have gotten up and started for the exit.
  47. >You stayed, wanting to hear what the ringmaster would say; you're going squeeze every second from the ticket!
  48. >"We now leave you with the final performance for the night, our magician, Beatrix."
  49. >Trinity, even he sounded unenthused by who's next, was she really this bad!?
  50. >Strutting in was a woman with an odd hair style and what seemed like knifes sticking out of her.
  51. >Her eyes were bright pink and as she gazed at the small audience you can't help but feel a bit sorry for her.
  52. >Still, she seemed to have a lot of confidence.
  53. >"I request a willing member of the audience to come down!"
  54. >Her invitation went unanswered, why the fuck was everyone giving her the cold shoulder?
  55. >After a few minutes of nothing you had enough of it and stood up.
  56. >Making your way to her, she cracked a smile which brightens you mood a little; it's nice to help others sometimes.
  57. >She guides you to a wheel with straps on it, and you get the idea of what her intentions are.
  58. >Normally you wouldn't have any of this, but you don't want to see her act ruined without giving her a chance.
  59. >You step on the wheel and she straps you in.
  60. >She gives you a dizzying spin and through your disoriented vision you begin to question your choices.
  61. >Maybe the reason everyone left and no one helped her was because she was bad at her job?
  62. >Suddenly a distinct 'fwooosh' pierced the air and a torrent of knifes barely missed you limbs.
  63. >You bite you tongue and fight the urge to scream as more fly towards you, their twangs ringing your ears.
  64. >Finally the spinning stopped and your five minutes in hell is over.
  65. >Recovering, you see that she was pretty good with knifes, as there was a distinct outline around you.
  66. >It was quite impressive.
  67. >She mutters a very quick "Thank you." and shakes your hand.
  68. >Heading back to the stands, you watch her next acts.
  69. >They all revolve around classic magic tricks and sleight of the hand, stuff that everyone knows is fake.
  70. >Still some of her routine seemed like actual magic.
  71. >She pulled out a flock of live doves from her cloak, and you were sure she didn't have anything when you were down there.
  72. >And where did all those knives go when she pulled them from the wheel?
  73. >She put them in her cloak, but you never saw them go anywhere.
  74. >As she finishes she takes a bow, and you clap.
  75. >She managed to win over the stiff audience, and they applaud too.
  76. >As far as circuses go, the Cirque des Cartes was pretty good.
  77. >But this Beatrix caught your attention the most; if only because of the cold reception she got from everyone.
  78. >As you exit, you see a sign telling fans to walk this way to meet the cast for autographs.
  79. >Deciding why not, you walked to the meeting area.
  80.
  81. --------Chapter II--------
  82.
  83. >Naturally the meeting area was jam packed with people.
  84. >Kids, teens, even full grown adults were all in a queue.
  85. >You know whose signature they wanted the most.
  86. >Cerebella was absolutely swamped by people, all vying for attention.
  87. >Even the other cast members had people talking to them and asking for autographs.
  88. >You don't know how they all keep control of the situation.
  89. >Then you remembered, the circus is owned by the Medici's.
  90. >That probably explains the lack of riots, no one is stupid enough to screw with Medici property.
  91. >You hung at the back, not particularly wanting to wait just for a bit of small talk and a signature.
  92. >You were about to give up and leave, but then you saw Beatrix with the others.
  93. >She didn't have a crowd swarming her like the others, in fact there was no one near her.
  94. >She looked deflated and disappointed at the crowd.
  95. >You felt sorry for her again, and decided to go talk to her.
  96. >You don't know why you even care so much; maybe your curious as to why everyone is treating her like this.
  97. >When she sees your approach she instantly brightens and straights herself.
  98. "That was quite the show back there, especially with the knives!"
  99. >"They don't call me the Great and Powerful Beatrix for nothing!"
  100. >What an odd stage name.
  101. "How do you do it?"
  102. >She gives you a curious look.
  103. "How you make things appear and disappear, like those doves and the knives?"
  104. >She chuckles at that.
  105. >"A magician never reveals her secrets!"
  106. >Of course she would say that.
  107. >You decide to move onto the next, more touchy topic.
  108. "Umm, forgive me if I'm pushing into a sore subject but, why does everyone avoid you?"
  109. >She groans and takes a deep breath, you're already regretting this.
  110. >"It's complicated, all I got to say is miss goody two shoes over there is always stealing my thunder!"
  111. >She points to Cerebella, who is balancing children with her hat.
  112. >"Look at her, they eat her up; she only got so ahead cause of her connections!"
  113. >No wonder people stay away from her if she just rants about Cerebella.
  114. >You glance around, wondering if maybe this isn't a good place to discuss this.
  115. >Wild conspiracy theories about 'connections' can get someone in a lot of trouble in Medici territory.
  116. >Not wanting to become Medici brand fish bait you had to do something to stop her rant.
  117. "I'd like an autograph!"
  118. >"Have you heard that she and Feng-What did you say!?"
  119. "I want an autograph, you were the only performer that really caught my attention!"
  120. >That was a half-lie, she was interesting but you could tell this girl has a lot of baggage.
  121. >Still the praise and offer seemed to stop her ranting.
  122. >She turns back into her bright and happy mood.
  123. >"Nice to see someone has some taste around here. You know I can count the autographs I did tonight on one hand?"
  124. >She pulls out a pen from nowhere, and suddenly you realized you had nothing for her to sign.
  125. >Fumbling with your pockets you pull out a napkin from a diner you went to lunch today.
  126. >You sheepishly give it to her, and while she seems a bit dejected she's happy to sign anything.
  127. >"Would you like me to write anything in particular?"
  128. "No, just a regular signature."
  129. >It takes a good minute for her to do the autograph, what is she doing?
  130. >She hands you the napkin, puts the pen back into her pocket dimension.
  131. >"There ya go! Always happy to have a new fan!"
  132. >You wouldn't really call yourself a fan, but you're not going to say that to her face either.
  133. >She walks away, but the two of you wave goodbye at each other.
  134. >Looking down at the napkin you see her stage name "The Great and Powerful Beatrix" with two clubs on the sides.
  135. >Card decks seemed to be a theme with the Cirque des Cartes.
  136. >Then below you see something else.
  137. >Squinting you read, River King Casino - 10:00 P.M. this Thursday.
  138. >Did she just invite you on a date!?
  139. >A million questions fill your head.
  140. >You glance up and see that some people have now crowded around Beatrix.
  141. >She looks a lot happier now, and while you want to ask her; it would be pretty inappropriate now.
  142. >Pocketing the napkin, you head to the exit of the big top.
  143. >Fighting through the massive hoards of Cerebella super fans.
  144. >All while reflecting on how bizarre the whole thing was, and how you disliked circuses.
  145.
  146. --------Chapter III--------
  147.
  148. >It was Thursday night, and you've just walked into the River King Casino.
  149. >It took you a bit to fix yourself up for the date, as the casino was known for being pretty high class.
  150. >As high class as a Medici gambling establishment could be.
  151. >Still you wanted to not look like trash for Beatrix.
  152. >Who knows? Tonight might lead to something.
  153. >You scan around in search of your date.
  154. >You saw slot machines, and tables all fill with various games.
  155. >Gambling just wasn't your style outside of a few poker games now and again.
  156. >You just never had any good luck.
  157. >Not seeing her there, you head over to the bar.
  158. >There she is, in expensive looking deep indigo gown.
  159. >She still has her cloak on from the circus.
  160. >Her ponytail had been undone, leaving her with shoulder length hair; she still sported the buns though.
  161. >Your eyes meet and a smile appears on her face.
  162. >Walking towards her; you try to play it smooth, at least you think you're smooth.
  163. "Nice to see you again, you're looking very nice."
  164. >She eats up the praise though.
  165. >"Thank you! I was really hoping you'd come."
  166. >You take a seat next to her, and the bartender walks up to you.
  167. >You debate for a minute on what to order.
  168. "I'll have a Medici Shakedown."
  169. >The bartender nods and goes about making your drink
  170. >You look over at Beatrix and see that she's amassed a collection of empty glasses.
  171. "Bad day?"
  172. >"You don't know the half of it!"
  173. >The bartender gives you your drink and quickly moves to the other side of the bar.
  174. >Poor bastard probably had his ear talked off.
  175. >"We have a meeting every Monday, just to discuss about our act and what need to be changed."
  176. >"Well, during the meeting guess what they told me?"
  177. >She looks at you for an answer.
  178. "What?"
  179. >"They said that I'm not pulling in the crowds like I use to!"
  180. >She looks down at her half empty glass.
  181. >"They said if things don't get better they might make turn me into a sideshow like-"
  182. >She shudders.
  183. >"Taliesin."
  184. >She downs the rest of the glass.
  185. >"I just don't know what I can do you know? Miss big arms has got it out for me I swear!"
  186. >Perhaps this is part of the problem.
  187. >The fact she constantly blames Cerebella for everything that goes wrong is a sore spot for the circus.
  188. >And if they had to pick between a dying act and their best performer, well, it's a no brainer.
  189. >You put a hand on her shoulder.
  190. "Beatrix, do you have any real proof Cerebella hates you?"
  191. >"She talks behind my back! Her and that little shrimp!"
  192. "I mean actual proof, not rumors."
  193. >She rubs her chin and seems to be in deep thought.
  194. >"Well....she.....um..."
  195. "Look, I'm not ruling anything out or saying she's a saint, but does she have any reason to despise you?"
  196. >"She thinks I'm too close to Vitale!"
  197. >Why would she be concerned about that?
  198. "Did she actually tell you this?"
  199. >"Well no, but I've got a strong feeling!"
  200. >Goddamn it this is wasting your time!
  201. >You were about to stand up and leave if all she's going to do is spout rumors.
  202. >But the thought of her losing her job and career stopped you.
  203. >Why must your heart be stronger than your brain?
  204. "Having a 'strong feeling' isn't enough to cause a rift like this!"
  205. >She was about to speak up but you cut her off.
  206. "How would you like it if people hated you because of some stupid rumor?"
  207. >She slumps in her seat and looks down.
  208. "I'm just saying that maybe your coworkers would appreciate if you didn't have a grudge against the superstar."
  209. >"It's not fair, I'm just as capable as her. My act is flawless anyway."
  210. "When was the last time you changed up your act?"
  211. >She stays silent.
  212. "Maybe if you worked in some new stuff, you'll pull in more people."
  213. >"It won't matter, no one wants to see me, they want Cerebella."
  214. >You think for a minute.
  215. >Then you get an idea, an idea that might just end this date.
  216. "What if you did a act with Cerebella?"
  217. >She slams the glass down and glares at you.
  218. >You need to do damage control quick!
  219. "The people want Cerebella, so give them Cerebella."
  220. "If the crowd sees the two of you look like friends, then it's a win-win right?"
  221. "And who knows? You could saw her in half or something."
  222. >She looks away and thinks.
  223. >Finally she sighs and rolls her eyes.
  224. >"Alright, guess if my career's dying I'll try anything."
  225. >She waves the bartender down.
  226. >He reluctantly walks to her.
  227. >"Can I have another? And leave the bottle, please."
  228.
  229. -------Chapter IV--------
  230.
  231. >Now that job talk was out of the way, the mood lightened up significantly.
  232. >You and Beatrix enjoyed some small talk.
  233. >She asked about you, and you told her your, quite frankly boring life.
  234. >Her life was similar to yours, until she decided to become a magician.
  235. >Apparently, she was the biggest act in Cirques des Cartes before Cerebella showed up.
  236. >You made sure to steer the conversation away from the circus.
  237. >The night dragged on, and it was looking like it was time to wrap up the date.
  238. >You enjoyed it, you wouldn't object to see her again.
  239. >Despite her envious attitude, you can't really blame her.
  240. >The entertainment industry is pretty cut throat from what you've seen.
  241. >As you say your good byes, she gets up and stumbles a bit.
  242. >You catch her.
  243. >"Thanks, guess I had a bit too much."
  244. >Too much? Sure she had a lot of glasses but she was drinking light stuff!
  245. "You really don't look like your capable of going home by yourself."
  246. >"I am! Just watch me!"
  247. >Leaving your arms, she is barely able to take a step before almost coming in contact with the floor.
  248. >You catch her again.
  249. >"Okay, so maybe I need some help getting home."
  250. >You roll you eyes and carry the drunk magician out of the casino.
  251. >The walk to the circus was mostly in silence, save for a few comments on the lack of people out.
  252. >There was a Skullgirl to look out for.
  253. >Beatrix felled asleep half way through.
  254. >She wasn't heavy by no means, so balancing her didn't slow you down at all.
  255. >She looked cute wrapped up in her cloak like a blanket.
  256. >When you got to the entrance of the Cirque des Cartes, a young Medici goon was watching the gate.
  257. >He looked like he was going to give you trouble, but when he saw the sleeping Beatrix he let you in.
  258. >Stepping in, you remembered you didn't know where exactly Beatrix lived.
  259. >You turn to the goon.
  260. "Excuse me, but where do the performers stay at?"
  261. >"They all have their own wagons."
  262. >He points to one at the far side.
  263. >"That one's hers."
  264. >You nod in thanks, and head over.
  265. >Coming to the door, you tried the knob but it was locked.
  266. >You sighed at your predicament and shook Beatrix, only eliciting a moan.
  267. "Come on, Beatrix! The door's locked!"
  268. >You had to whisper shout, not wanting to wake any of the other circus people.
  269. >Finally, she opened her eyes and noticed what's going on.
  270. >"Oh, hold on."
  271. >She fools around with her cloak, before pulling out a key.
  272. >Handing you it, you unlock the door and the two of you enter Beatrix's wagon.
  273. >For such a small room, it was decently spacious.
  274. >There was a well sized bed by the northern end with a chest by the foot of it.
  275. >A mini kitchen with what seems like wood stove and sink.
  276. >And at the southern end was a rack with her circus outfit and other clothes hanging on it, and a large radio below it.
  277. >Everything seemed to be in great condition.
  278. >Say what you want about the Medici's, they seem to take care of their entertainers.
  279. >Beatrix start giggling about something.
  280. >You turn to see what's amused her and she kisses you.
  281. >The shock stuns you for a moment, but the alcohol in her breath reminds you of why.
  282. >"You know, that's really nice of you to escort a gal home when she's drunk."
  283. >She takes off her dress and starts undoing her bra and panties.
  284. >"Most men would've taken advantage of someone as famous as me."
  285. >She's a horny drunk it seems.
  286. >"Allow me to show you my thanks!"
  287. >With that she launches her now nude body at you.
  288. >She's all over you kissing and hugging, like the two of you were married.
  289. >You hold her back with ease.
  290. "Look, I appreciate the forwardness; but let's take it slow now, okay?"
  291. >She stops her advance and looks up at you.
  292. >This give you time to actually look her over.
  293. >She's certainly got a lithe frame, you bet she could be easily screwed in a number of positions.
  294. >Her pussy has a bit of hair above it.
  295. >You can't believe it, but it's a club.
  296. >It takes a lot of restraint to not laugh at how dedicated she is to her role.
  297. >So instead you have a large smile.
  298. >She sees this as interest and she sexily poses, or at least tries to.
  299. >You decide fuck it, you might as well have a bit of fun.
  300. >You undo your belt and she pulls your shirt off.
  301. >Freeing you cock into the cool air, it quickly captures her attention.
  302. >She gives you a handjob, though it already was a bit hard when you took it out.
  303. >Smirking at you, she looks like an aggressive lion ready to pounce.
  304. >"Hey, you wanna see a magic trick, big guy?"
  305. >You glance down at her.
  306. >"It's where I make your cock disappear into my pussy!"
  307. >That was too much.
  308. >You burst out laughing uncontrollably.
  309. >This woman is going to be the death of you.
  310. >"Hey! I thought it was a good line!"
  311. >She pouts, but you rectify it by holding her chin and locking lips.
  312. >You both fall onto the bed.
  313. >She breaks from you, and straddles you.
  314. >Maneuvering your spear to her nether lips, she slowly impales onto it.
  315. >It was a tight feeling, and at one point you thought you might actually break her.
  316. >But the entire length slid in.
  317. >You look up to see her head leaning back, and her eyes rolled back.
  318. >Looks like just taking you in was enough for her.
  319. >She didn't move for a couple of minutes, so you decide to take initiative.
  320. >Placing you hands on her, you slowly push her up and down on your manhood.
  321. >Her body quakes quickly, and the feeling of wetness lets you know that she just came.
  322. >The 'Great and Powerful Beatrix' didn't seem like that much now.
  323. >When she recovered, she launched herself at you, pulling you in close.
  324. >She pounds into you like a jack hammer, bouncing almost hypnotically.
  325. >As she nuzzles your neck, you can hear her rapid breaths; she's giving this her all.
  326. >You help her out by grabbing her ass and bringing it down on you cock.
  327. >Again, you almost feel like you're going to break her, but she doesn't seem like she's in pain.
  328. >If anything, she's in ecstasy.
  329. >You roll to the side and begin pounding into her, giving her some moments to rest.
  330. >She bites down on the bedsheets, suppressing her cries of passion.
  331. >As you get closer to finishing you find it harder to stay silent yourself.
  332. >Finally release is given to your manhood as you shoot inside her.
  333. >She looks like she's going to scream, but you stop it with a kiss.
  334. >You can't let the others hear you.
  335. >After a couple of minutes, you pull out of her.
  336. >You made quite a mess here, but she cuddles into your chest and falls asleep.
  337. >As you start to lose consciousness, you think about what you've gotten yourself into.
  338.
  339. --------Chapter V--------
  340.
  341. >It's been four days since that night.
  342. >When you woke up, you had the worst hang over in your life.
  343. >Yet the biggest shock was seeing who was in your bed.
  344. >Damn it Bea! Mom always told you to avoid liquor!
  345. >Still, after some explaining from him and awkward small talk everything seemed fine.
  346. >Except for today of course.
  347. >You've been dreading this day all through the weekend.
  348. >Monday, the weekly meeting between the performers of the Cirques des Cartes.
  349. >You thought a lot about what to say.
  350. >Part of you wanted to say to hell with it all and not do anything.
  351. >But Anon's words were at the back of your mind.
  352. >"How would you like it if people hated you because of some stupid rumor?"
  353. >That's exactly the case.
  354. >Your coworkers see you as a bit unhinged because of your treatment of Cerebella.
  355. >You're going to have to do a lot of work to fix that image and relationships.
  356. >As you enter the big top you see all of your peers already gathered in a circle in the middle of the arena.
  357. >They stop their chatter and all eyes are on you.
  358. >Normally you love being the center of attention, not now.
  359. >You sheepishly hold out a hand and try to act friendly.
  360. "G-good morning guys, how are you all?"
  361. >Already everyone seems weirded out by you; it's normal for you to storm in and begin throwing accusations at Cerebella.
  362. >Cerebella, ever the naive either doesn't notice or cares about the your change of demeanor.
  363. >She uses Vice-Versa to wave back at you.
  364. >"We're all doing fantastic Beatrix! I can tell that this week is going to be great!"
  365. >How does she always maintain that chipper attitude?
  366. >You clear your throat.
  367. "Ahem, well....I suppose let's get down to business, right?"
  368. >Regina speaks up.
  369. >"Yes, let's get to the most important part, you Beatrix."
  370. >Damn, you had hoped you could postpone your discuss for a few minutes.
  371. >"It's been another poor week from you, I understand you've got problems Bea, but that won't matter if you keep this up!"
  372. >Even though Regina is a bit of a cold bitch she does care for everyone at the end of the day.
  373. >"Do you have any ideas on what might be the issue?"
  374. >You sigh and look at the ground.
  375. >Then Hubrecht interrupts
  376. >"That one performance went okay! Was it last Saturday, or the one before it?"
  377. >He exerts himself thinking about what day it was.
  378. >He always tries to make the best out of a situation.
  379. >But you need to keep the conversation focused.
  380. "I know! But I think a big part of the problem is the variety in my act, or lack there of."
  381. >Regina smiled, but then frowned again.
  382. >"That may be solved easily but I fear it might be too late to draw in crowds."
  383. >Here it comes, it now or never!
  384. >You twiddle your fingers.
  385. "Well....I had an idea to maybe....."
  386. >Say it! Just say it!
  387. >You turn to Cerebella.
  388. "Would you like to do an act with me!?"
  389. >Everyone's jaws hit the floor.
  390. >Feng recovers the fastest.
  391. >"Did you hit your head on something Beatrix!?"
  392. >You hold your tongue.
  393. >Cerebella however jumps up with glee.
  394. >"I'd love too! But my only question is why me? Forgive me for saying this, but you were never quite warm to me."
  395. >You cough in embarrassment.
  396. "Well, you're the biggest name we got. If it all goes well, maybe people will warm up to me."
  397. >You rub the back of your head, this is so awkward.
  398. "I also want to make up for all the mean things I said and how I treated you."
  399. >Cerebella runs at you and grabs you into a bear hug.
  400. >You can barely breath with your face smooshed into her breasts.
  401. >After minutes of near asphyxiation, her grip on you softens.
  402. >Then Hubrecht, Feng, and even Regina and Gaggles the Gigan join in on the hug.
  403. >Spades and Tailesin are too 'cool' for this sort of thing and just watch from the sidelines.
  404. >It's times like this when you feel like one big family.
  405. >This is why you joined in the first place.
  406. >When you all separate Regina looks at you, smiling.
  407. >"I'm glad you and Cerebella have made up! Now onto some more upbeat news....."
  408.
  409. --------Chapter VI---------
  410.
  411. >-----A Week Later-----
  412. >You took you seat in the stands.
  413. >Back at the Cirques des Cartes for what seems like a full house.
  414. >Beatrix had given you a free VIP ticket to see this show, saying how Cerebella agreed to your idea.
  415. >You didn't take all the credit, after all, her and Cerebella are going to be the ones preforming.
  416. >You dig into the complementary snacks your got from the concession booth.
  417. >Knowing a member of the cast has some perks it seems.
  418. >You Recall the amount of posters as you were walking in, the circus spared no expense in advertising it.
  419. >Billing it as "The Thrilling Team-up of the Century!", "Never attempted stunts, with REAL knifes and blades!"
  420. >And "See The Diamond in the Rough come face to face with The Great and Powerful Beatrix!"
  421. >You also heard advertisements on the radio and on the TVs behind store windows.
  422. >You just hope all goes well tonight.
  423. >That poster saying those stunts were never attempted must be just promo, right?
  424. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  425.
  426. >You check your costume and make sure everything is right.
  427. >You were careful about the new fangled microphone that will allow the crowd to hear you.
  428. >All your items were just a grab away in your cloak.
  429. >Your hair and makeup were all fine.
  430. >The pounding of your heart was almost audible, you haven't had a crowd like this in years.
  431. >The old stage fright reared it's ugly head.
  432. >It's like when you were first starting out in the circus, all those years ago.
  433. >You knew how to do most of these tricks, all the ones that involved knives.
  434. >But the illusion and stunt ones might you a bit of trouble.
  435. >It would be better if you could practice, but the Medici's insisted that you do it untrained.
  436. >You swear their cockyness is going to get someone injured one of these days.
  437. >Supposedly Vitale is in the crowd, and even Madam Dahlia!
  438. >A sudden hand on your shoulder shakes you out of your thoughts.
  439. >Glancing behind; it's your costar, Cerebella.
  440. >By the look on her face she might have some nervousness too.
  441. >But you're sure it's less because of her abilities and more because Vitale will be watching.
  442. >"Are you ready to do this Bea? We're in less than a minute."
  443. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be, let's give em a showstopper!"
  444. >Your fake confidence seemed to cheer up Cerebella.
  445. >As the two of you head for the entrance, she waits for you just at the opening.
  446. >She offers her hand, and you reluctantly take it.
  447. >She's treating you as an equal, something that helps calm your nerves as you both step into the arena.
  448. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  449.
  450. >You notice to your left two people hidden in the shadows.
  451. >The immediate area is cleared of any persons and as your eyes adjust you finally are able to make them out.
  452. >Holy Trinity it's Vitale goddamn Medici and Black Dahlia.
  453. >You quickly move your eyes away from them, hoping she didn't spy you.
  454. >Vitale seemed to have gotten something from the concessions too.
  455. >By that you mean he got the entire fucking booth with him.
  456. >How can one man eat so much? You doubt Dahlia's a fan of carnival food.
  457. >Just then movement from the arena stops your speculating.
  458. >A drum roll followed by triumphant music announce the arrival of tonight's act.
  459. >Beatrix and Cerebella enter, hand in hand; the spotlights illuminating them.
  460. >The crowd erupts in thunderous applause that nearly deafens you.
  461. >After a few minutes of waiting for the applause to cease, Cerebella speaks up.
  462. >"Are you all ready for the most dangerous show in the world!?"
  463. >More cheers and applause.
  464. >Cerebella bows to Beatrix, who for a moment seems at a loss at what to do.
  465. >She clears her throat and then takes control.
  466. >"My first trick shall be a series of knife throwing tricks, to prove to you all that the blades are indeed real!"
  467. >She had everyone's full attention.
  468. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  469.
  470. >Cerebella takes off Vice-Versa and places it at her feet, replacing it with an apple.
  471. >She stands in front of a large bullseye.
  472. >With your target ready, you pull out a knife and aim it.
  473. >Come on Bea! This is just a simple knife trick!
  474. >With blazing speed you send the knife flying at Cerebella's head, splitting the apple cleanly in two.
  475. >It hits directly in the center of the bullseye.
  476. >The crowd oohs at the trick, causing you to crack a smile.
  477. >If something as easy as that got a reaction, this will be a cakewalk!
  478. >Cerebella grabs a suit of cards consisting of your respective motifs, Diamonds and Clubs.
  479. >She stands to the side of the target, while you pull out a fistful of knives.
  480. >You nod, and she chucks the cards haphazardly in front of the target.
  481. >You let out a barrage, impaling each card before they even lost air.
  482. >The crowd claps and cheers at this.
  483. >You remove the knives and Cerebella puts on Vice-Versa and blindfolds herself.
  484. >She spins around on one leg and leaps into the air.
  485. >As she is about to hit the ground, Vice-Versa's mighty arms come out and she does a headstand.
  486. >The target is lifted so she's still in the center of the bullseye.
  487. >You throw a knife into a each side of the circle, allowing Cerebella to put her feet on them.
  488. >With her legs opened, you fire knife after knife at her in a tight V formation.
  489. >They move down her legs towards her crotch where the final knife embeds threateningly close.
  490. >Even Cerebella seems shock as she had a noticeable jolt from the last knife.
  491. >You feared you might've pushed your luck.
  492. >But she gracefully does a front flip from her position, taking off the blindfold and revealing she's fine.
  493. >Seeing as you had half of a shape, you throw the rest of your knifes, finishing off a giant diamond.
  494. >When she sees this Cerebella hugs you and the silent from shock crowd goes wild in awe.
  495. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  496.
  497. >You clapped until your hands felt sore.
  498. >Beatrix and Cerebella seem like the perfect duo.
  499. >You've forgotten about your snacks entirely.
  500. >Both girls bowed to the crowd shouting "Thank you!" again and again.
  501. >After you all died down, they move to the center where what seems like a coffin has been rolled out.
  502. >"For my next trick, I shall saw Cerebella in half and put her together again!"
  503. >Cerebella waves to the crowd and is helped in the coffin by Beatrix.
  504. >Securing the lid so only her head is out, Beatrix pull out of her cloak a large saw.
  505. >She beings to saw into the coffin at a fast pace, until it's completely divided in half.
  506. >Then to prove to the crowd that she wasn't kidding, she move both pieces far apart.
  507. >This electing gasps and murmurs.
  508. >Even Cerebella played dead with her tongue comically hanging out.
  509. >Beatrix brought the two side together again and waving her cloak, she opened the coffin.
  510. >Jumping out is Cerebella, with no cuts on her at all.
  511. >"For our last act of the night, We'll be needing another assistant!"
  512. >Suddenly coming down from the stands was none other than Black Dahlia.
  513. >The entire crowd went so silent you could hear the noise outside.
  514. >She made her way with the two and took a relaxed pose.
  515. >"I'll shall be catching a bullet, shot by none other than Black Dahlia while being swung from trapeze by Cerebella!"
  516. >Frightful whispers could be heard as the two women climb up to the trapeze.
  517. >Holding on with Vice-Versa and carrying Beatrix in her arms, the pair swung three times before leaping to the other trapeze.
  518. >Faster than you could see, Black Dahlia shoots while they're dead center of the jump.
  519. >It's a bit too high to see, but the pair successfully grab onto the second trapeze.
  520. >Climbing down, Beatrix holds the bullet triumphantly in the air.
  521. >Both women bow respectfully to Dahlia, who nods in acknowledgement and heads back to Vitale.
  522. >With that, the crowd again erupts in mad applause with cheers and whistles filling the air.
  523. >Bouquets of flowers filled the arena and both women wave and blow kisses at the crowd.
  524. >After about five straight minutes they pointed to the meeting area and you barely could hear them say to meet them there.
  525. >Exiting the arena, the people empty the stands in record time, obviously heading to the meeting area for autographs.
  526. >You fought through the crowd too, intent on giving your congratulations to Beatrix.
  527.
  528. ---------Chapter VII---------
  529.
  530. >You manage to make it to the head of the crowd.
  531. >It took a lot of shoving and pushing though.
  532. >Still it was all worth it when you entered the meeting area.
  533. >Beatrix and Cerebella were waiting with pens to sign signatures.
  534. >But when Bea saw you she turned and whispered in Cerebella's ear.
  535. >Grabbing you by the hand, she took you away from the crowd.
  536. >"Don't worry everyone! Um, This is business related!"
  537. >Her lie did little to stop the wave of disappointment from those who wanted her autograph.
  538. >Cerebella quickly took over the situation.
  539. >"Hey folks would you all like to see some tricks?"
  540. >The excitement from the crowd prevented disaster.
  541. >But seeing Beatrix get upstaged at her own show for your sake halted you.
  542. >You stop her.
  543. "It's okay, this is your night! Go with your fans I'll wait."
  544. >Her eyes dart from you and the crowd, she's indecisive but eventually nods and heads back to Cerebella.
  545. >She joins her and both of them do a couple of parlour tricks for the mob.
  546. >While you know this will be absolute torture, yet you will have to endure it.
  547.
  548. >Dear Trinity it's been almost two hours!
  549. >The herd of people has been thinned significantly but it's clear that it'll be another hour at least.
  550. >Part of your mind told you to just head home-that you'll congratulate Bea tomorrow.
  551. >But you know she'll be disappointed if you leave.
  552. >Damn it! Why do you get yourself into these situations!?
  553. >Just then you feel a tapping on your shoulders.
  554. >You spin around and almost piss yourself.
  555. >Oh fuck it's Vitale!
  556. >He smiles at you making you wonder if your going to do a disappearing act in a moment.
  557. >"So you're the guy who suggested this night's performance?"
  558. >He chuckles.
  559. >"I've got to say, that was one hell of an idea."
  560. >He wraps an arm around your shoulders.
  561. >"How about we go for a little stroll?"
  562. >"We can circle the entire carnival and they'll still be signing signatures."
  563. >As much as you don't want to go into a death trap with the second most notorious man in the kingdom, what are you going to do?
  564. >The two of you walk outside into the cool night's air.
  565. >As you walked, you saw Beatrix gazing at you.
  566. >You hope she isn't too worried.
  567. >The carnival is practically deserted, what with it nearly being the curfew.
  568. >Most of the lights are still on, so you have a good view if something's sneaking on you.
  569. >Vitale's voice interrupts your thoughts.
  570. >"I know what this looks like, but trust me if I was going to kill you Dahlia wouldn't have let you come to tonight's show."
  571. >Well that was assuring, of course you trust him as far as you can throw him.
  572. >And he's a very heavy guy.
  573. "So what's the reason for this talk?"
  574. >"Well, us Medici's are a very tight family unit."
  575. >He waves his hand in the air.
  576. >"That unit goes beyond blood ties, it includes our employees, our associates, anyone who does business with us."
  577. >"It's part of the reason why we got to where we are; our willingness to treat others like family."
  578. >"So when someone new has a relationship with a family member, it fall onto the patriarch to make sure no one's hearts are broken."
  579. >He stops and looks you in the eyes.
  580. >"The Cirque des Cartes is under my jurisdiction, and I'm the father."
  581. >He places a hand on your shoulder and adjusts his glasses.
  582. >"I need to make sure you're a good man for Beatrix."
  583. >You gulp.
  584. "What do I need to do to prove myself?"
  585. >He smiles, patting your back.
  586. >"That's the first step! Lesser men would be scared off and run with their tail between their legs!"
  587. >While it felt good that you made progress, you wonder what was the second step.
  588. "Will I have to join the mafia?"
  589. >You mentally hit yourself for asking such a stupid question.
  590. >"Well, no. It's fine that you're an associate; membership is a discussion for another day."
  591. >That was a relief, if some of those rumors about Medici initiation rituals are true.....
  592. >Well let's just say maybe the Renoirs should've finished the job.
  593. "So what's the next step?"
  594. >"I'm giving you a job at the circus. Since you're joining the family, you need to be close to us."
  595. >What!?
  596. >You step away from him.
  597. "But Mr.Vitale, I don't have any experience with the preforming arts! My idea for tonight's show was only a fluke!"
  598. >"You'll be taught, we've been needing a planner for a while now. You'll be perfect for the team."
  599. >You chew your lip.
  600. >You had a boring life until you got that ticket, now you had a chance for something new.
  601. >Staring into the Medici underboss's eyes you wonder if he's legitimately trying to be nice to you or something else.
  602. >He's order the deaths of hundreds of people, you doubt there is anything nice about this guy.
  603. >He does seem genuine though.
  604. >Still, the chance to work at the circus-you hated circuses!
  605. >At least, that's what you thought.
  606. >But now maybe you could get over that hatred, it was illogical anyways.
  607. >Besides you're in too deep now.
  608. >It's not like your old job was much fun.
  609. >You shrug.
  610. "I suppose I'll give it a shot."
  611. >Vitale's face lights up like a Christmas tree.
  612. >"Wonderful! I'll make arrangements with you later; let's go I think they're done with the signing now!"
  613. >Entering the big top, you split off from Vitale who goes with Cerebella.
  614. >You question why she seems so happy with him.
  615. >However Beatrix alerts you by giving you a warm hug and a kiss.
  616. >"What did you two talk about?"
  617. "Business, I've got a new job."
  618. >She looks at you perplexingly.
  619. "I work here now, Vitale said I'll help with the planning."
  620. >She smiles and hugs you again, making you appreciate you decision.
  621. >"Guess that means you'll be seeing more of me!"
  622. >You kiss again.
  623. "I haven't properly congratulated you yet for tonight."
  624. >You look around, and Vitale and Cerebella have left.
  625. >With the coast clear, you pull her closer and whisper to her.
  626. "I know you're tired, why don't we head back to your wagon?"
  627. >You take each others hand and practically run to the caravans at the far side of the carnival.
  628.
  629. >She throws open the door, and you are barely able to shut it before she jumps on you.
  630. >Like some hungry predator, she rips off you clothes.
  631. >Still her burst of energy only lasts so long, and the strain of the day's work is taking it's toll.
  632. >You help her by lifting her into the bed.
  633. >Freeing the rest of her from her costumes restraints, you fall on top of her.
  634. >She doesn't protest, happy that you can take control and sooth her.
  635. >You want to make sure she gets enjoyment out of this.
  636. >Wasting no time, you slide you cock in.
  637. >Or try to, you forgot how tough it was the last time.
  638. >Still after a little bit of effort from the both of you, it slips in like a charm.
  639. >Already Bea's legs are wide open, paralyzed by excitement.
  640. >"Oh goddess, I forgot how good this was."
  641. >If this was the highlight from last time then you intend on refreshing her memory.
  642. >You start with slow, powerful thrusts.
  643. >You didn't want to hurt her by taking things too fast.
  644. >Also she seemed to be enjoying this, given how she lets out a moan every time you thrust into her.
  645. >As she loosens up, you start increasing the speed a bit.
  646. >You're going to pound into her like she did the last time.
  647. >Her legs wrap around your waist, and her arms around your neck.
  648. >Seems like she's locking herself in for a ride.
  649. >You increase speed again, this time it's fast enough that the bed audibly creaks.
  650. >You take deep breaths as you're working overtime as you exert yourself.
  651. >Her moans have turned into shouts of pleasure.
  652. >It's not like it's that late, you're sure you're not interrupting anyone.
  653. >You hope.
  654. >Finally reaching climax, you thrust as deep as you can and release.
  655. >As you do you lock eyes with her, and you can see the mad lust she's in.
  656. >This girl is obsessed with you now.
  657. >You give a couple of half hearted thrusts, to ensure you've blown your entire load.
  658. >After that, it's a passionate kiss and cuddles.
  659. >Snuggling up like that night the week before, you whispers too you.
  660. >"I'm glad to have met you."
  661. >You run your hands through her hair, thinking about what's next.
  662. "I'm glad too."
  663.
  664. --------Chapter VIII---------
  665.
  666. >-----A Month Later-----
  667. >Working at the circus isn't nearly as bad as you thought.
  668. >Everyone was very friendly and accommodating when Bea introduced you to them.
  669. >Including Taliesin who you swear was eyeing you up.
  670. >But aside from that, everything's been smooth sailing.
  671. >Working with the cast members and making shows around their strengths and weaknesses is surprisingly easy.
  672. >Guess it wasn't a fluke after all!
  673. >Your fear of clowns and hatred of circuses is now a thing of the past.
  674. >You and Beatrix have been going steady.
  675. >There's been a couple of dates when there is time but nothing really to talk about.
  676. >You do make sure to keep her away from alcohol though.
  677. >Now that she's got the fame she's been craving her personality is a lot more bearable.
  678. >Gone are the days where she wanders the meeting area like a lost puppy.
  679. >Now she is the center of attention.
  680. >Why during the last date, she was actually recognized.
  681. >She has become the circus's second superstar, but she's happy sharing the spotlight with Cerebella.
  682. >Since they got to know each other, the two are best friends now.
  683. >Still, reality has a way with punching in the gut to force you lay off the optimism.
  684. >For one thing, you learned that the circus doubles as a recruiting ground for Medici assassins.
  685. >Black Dahlia will sometimes come around and teach the others in the art of killing.
  686. >It upsets you, but this is Medici property; what could you do?
  687. >You feel a shiver thinking about being in the same room with the most deadliest woman in the world.
  688. >You and Vitale have yet to have another discussion.
  689. >Though given how you are still alive and not with a set of concrete shoes you guess he is happy with you.
  690. >Most of the goons treat you with respect or at least decency.
  691. >A lot of them can trace their history with the Medici's from generations.
  692. >Not surprising; given how the Medici's were originally a rebel army trying to fight off the invading Renoirs.
  693. >But there was multiple points where they were almost wiped out.
  694. >Their 'Take from the rich and give to the poor.' policy morphed into 'Take from everyone and give nothing.'
  695. >So in a way, a person with a lot of ties to the Medici is seen as a mark of pride in some of the lower class of New Meridian.
  696. >It mean you family was important once, and your family stuck it to the Renoirs.
  697. >Someone entering the big top halted your impromptu history lesson.
  698. >Turning around, you see Cerebella.
  699. >She has a frown on her face as if she's upset about something.
  700. >Thinking back, you do remember her saying she'll be away but she never gave you an explanation.
  701. >Noticing you, she gives you a half-hearted wave.
  702. >"Oh, hello."
  703. >Yup, something definitely is up.
  704. >You sit on the lower stand and motion her to join you.
  705. >As she hops up she sniffles a bit.
  706. "What's going on Bella?"
  707. >She looks at you, as if debating whether to tell you or not.
  708. >"Well....I was on a mission for Vitale...."
  709. >That can't be good.
  710. >"I was suppose to find the Life Gem, but that damned feral is tougher than she looks!"
  711. >One of Vice-Versa's arms slams down on the ground, causing a small tremor.
  712. >Dear Aeon, you've never seen her so angry before-you NEVER thought Cerebella could get angry!
  713. >Seeing your reaction to her outburst, she becomes more reserved; crossing her arms.
  714. >"The training with Dahlia, getting on Vitale's good side; and this is what happens when I get a chance to prove myself!?"
  715. >You place a hand on her shoulder.
  716. >Just like Beatrix, she's too hard on her self, they really aren't that much different.
  717. "What did Vitale say?"
  718. >"That I've disappointed him, how I'll have to work my way back to the top and that they'll choose someone else to do it!"
  719. >A twinge of fear shoots up your spine and you wonder if they'll choose Beatrix.
  720. >But first you need to help Cerebella, hearing such things from Vitale probably crushed her emotionally.
  721. "Look Bella even though you failed you tried your best right?"
  722. >She looks like she's about to speak up but you cut her off.
  723. "I know you're going to say 'but my best wasn't good enough!' but like you said, whoever took it is a lot stronger than you think."
  724. "Maybe the you're not the problem; maybe Vitale underestimated the situation."
  725. >A frown forms on her face.
  726. >You hold up you hands.
  727. "Now I'm not criticizing Vitale, I'm just saying maybe he thought some two bit thief took it and not...whatever you got."
  728. "You haven't had any REAL fighting experience have you? I mean an actual fight like this one?"
  729. >She looks up in concentration.
  730. >"I've roughed up a few people, but I guess I never really 'fought' someone before; she could take one hell of a beating."
  731. >"And Vitale did look concerned when I told him about the woman who has the Gem."
  732. >She smiles.
  733. >Suddenly she scoops you into a hug with Vice-Versa.
  734. >"Thank you! I feel much better now!"
  735. >She breaks the hug and gives you a wave before running off.
  736. >You sigh in relief until someone else shows up.
  737. >It's Beatrix! But she seems...worried?
  738. >When she sees you, she tries to act like nothing's wrong.
  739. >Running to your arms, the two of you embrace.
  740. >"I've got something very important to tell you."
  741. >You can predict what she is going to say.
  742. >"Vitale wants me to get the Life Gem and the Skullheart."
  743. >WHAT!? IS THAT BASTARD CRAZY!?
  744. "You can't fight the damn Skullgirl! That's suicide!"
  745. >"I'm not going alone, do you know the singer Eliza?"
  746. >You've heard of her once or twice, but you doubt a singer is going to do much against the fucking Skullgirl.
  747. "What's she going to do, sing the Skullgirl to death?"
  748. >"I get the feeling she's hiding something about her."
  749. "That still doesn't matter, her secret could be that she's a man for all you know!"
  750. >"I got a hunch that it's worse than that."
  751. >You roll your eyes, this is getting you no where.
  752. "Bea listen to me this is suicide!"
  753. >"I don't want to do this either! But we have no choice!"
  754. >You know that but there has to be something you can do.
  755. >Staring into her eyes, you know she wouldn't budge.
  756. >She's to stubborn, and she's doing this to protect you.
  757. >"Don't worry, even if something happens I'll never forget you and everything we've been together."
  758. >You were on the verge of tears, as you embraced the woman you love.
  759. >The two of you kiss for what seemed liked an hour before she breaks off and walks away.
  760. >Away to her death.
  761.
  762. --------Chapter IX--------
  763.
  764. >This Eliza woman is sick.
  765. >If the Medici's thought that she could take out the Skullgirl, then they certainly picked a good candidate.
  766. >When you saw her fighting that feral you knew that the Medici's made a mistake.
  767. >She couldn't be controlled, not by them at least.
  768. >It's just like you thought; that their overconfidence was going to get someone killed.
  769. >You internally chuckle at the irony that it's you who will die.
  770. >You both pull up to her palace in her limo.
  771. >That feral is still in the trunk, but as the two of you exit you see one of her servants, Horace move towards the trunk.
  772. >The two of you enter before you can hear the stream of insults she hurls at him.
  773. >"Why are you so silent darling? You're not much for conversation it seems."
  774. >Funny how she acts so nonchalant about kidnapping someone and intending to do Trinity knows what to them.
  775. >Still you need to think of some way to get out of this-to at least alert someone about Eliza.
  776. >Damn the Skullgirl and the Medici's, this was the REAL threat.
  777. >You lean causally on a pillar.
  778. "What can I say? Aside from bagging that feral, we haven't made any progress in tracking down the Skullgirl."
  779. >Perhaps you cockyness will amuse her?
  780. >She lets out a refined laugh.
  781. >"And here I thought you'd be concerned about the Life Gem."
  782. >You would've hope to avoid this topic.
  783. "Well, the Life Gem was only a side objective; I don't really care if you keep it or not."
  784. >That was a lie; but you're not going to fight her for it.
  785. "What Lorenzo doesn't know won't hurt him."
  786. >A cruel smile forms on her face.
  787. >"Such unfaithful words coming from a Medici."
  788. >Was that suppose to get a rise out of you?
  789. >It might have worked if you were Cerebella.
  790. "Who said my whole life revolved around the Medici? Like your lackey said, I'm just a circus performer."
  791. >Albus, who was in ear shot gritted his teeth and gave you the death stare.
  792. >But him and his other toady friend didn't scare you; in fact you could probably take them both out at once.
  793. >It was it ancient serial killer vampire parasite that you're unprepared for.
  794. >"You're such a curious thing."
  795. >Her face peels off, revealing the menacing skeleton beneath.
  796. >"What would you do if I wanted to end our partnership now and sample some of that liquid courage in you?"
  797. >Albus and Horace stand beside her and crack their knuckles.
  798. >You sigh, damn it! It didn't have to come to this!
  799. >Grabbing some knives from your cloak you take your fighting stance.
  800. "Well, I won't just stand there and let you do it without a fight!"
  801. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  802.
  803. >Holy Venus you need to get into shape.
  804. >You've been following those two ever since Bea left.
  805. >They put some poor feral in the trunk of a limo and took off.
  806. >But now you lost track of it!
  807. >That Eliza is one scary bitch, a parasite?
  808. >You know why she was chosen by the Medici's.
  809. >But that still doesn't change the fact that she's taken Bea to Trinity knows where with a kidnapped feral.
  810. >Their objectives were to kill the Skullgirl and if they could, get the Life Gem.
  811. >It has nothing to do with kidnapping, and you're sure Beatrix is in danger.
  812. >Well, more danger than she already was in.
  813. >Running around a corner, you spot the limo.
  814. >It's parked in front of a large mansion, you assume Eliza's.
  815. >Just as you're about to enter, you stop yourself.
  816. >What if Beatrix is in danger?
  817. >The fuck are you going to do, run in and get your ass killed?
  818. >It suddenly dawns on you that you had no plan in case such scenario happened.
  819. >Fuck! There need to be some way out of this!
  820. >You kick the limo, causing it to rock a bit and hurting your foot.
  821. >As you hopped around a bit you spot someone by the steps wearing a suspicious trench coat and sunglasses.
  822. >Sunglasses. In the middle of the night.
  823. >You pretend not to see them and walk past, before quickly turning and pinning them against the wall.
  824. >They let out familiar yelp before a giant arm erupts from the individual's hat, grabbing you.
  825. >"AH! Don't scare me like that!"
  826. >Cerebella?
  827. "What are you doing here?"
  828. >She lets go of you before looking like she's been caught with her hand in the cookie jar.
  829. >"Well...um...Vitale sent me to do.....back up?"
  830. "Oh really? Vitale sent you?"
  831. >She nods.
  832. "Well what if I call him up and tell him to give his agents better disguises?"
  833. >Fear engulfs her and she blocks your path to the payphone.
  834. >"T-that w-won't be necessary!"
  835. >You give her a glare and she finally sighs.
  836. >"Okay fine! I was following them because I didn't think Beatrix was up for it, okay!?"
  837. >She suddenly glares at you suspiciously.
  838. >"And what are YOU doing here, hm?"
  839. >You smoothly hold up you hands.
  840. "Following them, unlike you I didn't come up with a bullshit story."
  841. >She gives you a humph, and you decide that it's time to move onto more important business.
  842. "Did you see them fight that feral?"
  843. >She grabs you shoulders with lightning speed.
  844. >"A feral!? What type of animal was it!?"
  845. "That doesn't matter! What matter is that they stuffed her into that limo after the fight!"
  846. >Cerebella lets go of you in shock.
  847. >"That's pretty bad, was it Eliza who did it?"
  848. >"Yes, and Eliza has a parasite! She's a lot more powerful than we were let on!"
  849. >She looks at the floor.
  850. >"Well Vitale wouldn't have given her such an important mission without good reason."
  851. >You shake you head.
  852. "No Bella, I think Beatrix is in great danger!"
  853. >You put your ear to the door and Cerebella does too.
  854. >You can make out the sounds of a scuffle.
  855. >The two of you looked at each other with a worried expression.
  856. >"Let's go in! No one messes with the Medici!"
  857. >She throws open the door, and you hope you're not too late.
  858.
  859. >Wandering through this place, it doesn't take long to get near to the fight.
  860. >But as you and Cerebella are about to enter the room that has said fight, a noise stops you both.
  861. >"Hey! A little help down here!?"
  862. >Turning around you see that feral, chopped up to bit but still alive!
  863. >She seems to be trapped in congealed blood jars.
  864. >As you are about to say something Bella interrupts you.
  865. >"You're that dirty thief that took the Life Gem!"
  866. >The catgirl seems to recognize Cerebella.
  867. >"Oh! I didn't see nyaa!"
  868. >Her disembodied hand waves.
  869. >"So are you going to get meow out or what?"
  870. >Cerebella shake her head and goes to leave, but you stop her.
  871. "Even if she's the one who beat you and stole the Life Gem, we'll need all the help we can get to fight Eliza."
  872. >You turn to the catgirl.
  873. "If I get you out of there will you help us?"
  874. >She looks at Cerebella, then to you.
  875. >"I suppose I could lend a helping hand or two, if only because you seem so nice!"
  876. >Considering that's the best reassurance you're going to get, you and Cerebella get to smashing.
  877. >When she's all free, her limbs reform and she hops around, giving herself a quick look over before nodding.
  878. >"That name's Nadia, Nadia Fortune."
  879. >She extends her arm for you to shake, which you reciprocate.
  880. >But now's not the time for greetings.
  881. >The sounds of fighting have stopped.
  882. >Noticing this, you and Cerebella storm into the room, which looks like a large bath.
  883. >Nadia is right behind you two.
  884. >Eliza has Beatrix pinned against a pillar, her left arm is just a skeleton with sharp claws.
  885. >"That was a hard fight, but I expect no less from the Medici's shame this is the end for you!"
  886. "Hold it right there expired goods!"
  887. >Eliza spins her head around and give you a look filled with rage.
  888. "If you want a fight, how about a fair one for change!?"
  889. >Even Cerebella is shocked at how you've insulting a monster so brazenly.
  890. >Beatrix looks down weakly at you.
  891. >The two goons step in front of you and give you death stares too.
  892. >The dog barks.
  893. >"What did you just say, shrimp!?"
  894. >The bird simply adjusts his glasses.
  895. >"I must say, you're either the most brave or the most stupid thing on this planet!"
  896. >Before anything else can happen, Beatrix pulls a knife from her cloak.
  897. >With Eliza's head turned away from her, she lobs it at Eliza; a direct hit!
  898. >Eliza lets go of her and Bea leaps from the pillar, preforming an aerial somersault and landing next to you.
  899. >"I thought I said to not worry about me."
  900. "Well, considering the circumstances, I think not following your advice payed off."
  901. >Eliza recovers, her skeleton stands up with blood reforming around it.
  902. >"What a valiant rescue effort! Why, it's like something from a movie!"
  903. >She laughs with a smug smirk on her face.
  904. >"Too bad real life doesn't work like the movies."
  905. >With that, she attempts to cut down all of you with her staff.
  906. >You, having little combat experience, barely miss it.
  907. >Bea and Bella seem to focus their attention with Eliza.
  908. >Leaving you and Nadia to deal with the too goons of hers.
  909. >The dog charges at you specifically.
  910. >"I'll teach you to storm in here and insult the boss!"
  911. >The heavy looking falcon is busy fending off Nadia's assault.
  912. >"A little help here Albus?"
  913. >Albus either didn't here him or care and he swung at you.
  914. >You can dodge some of his punches, but this guy clearly knows a thing or two about fighting.
  915. >Lucky, Fortune sees this.
  916. >She kicks her opponent out of the way and grabs her head.
  917. >"Dontcha know two heads are better than one?"
  918. >She throws her head at the jackal, biting into his shoulder.
  919. >Albus lets out a scream in pain, giving you a free shot at him.
  920. >Seeing as he's built like a tank, you hit him in the one weak point every man has.
  921. >His balls.
  922. >Delivering the hardest kick you can muster, you hear a sickening squelch as his attention shifted to you.
  923. >His eyes roll back into his head and he passes out, collapsing on the floor.
  924. >Fortune's head detaches and a jet of blood propels her to you feet.
  925. >"Nya! That looked pretty brutal!"
  926. "Yeah, he should be out of commission for the rest of the fight."
  927. >Suddenly you see movement behind her headless body.
  928. "Nadia look out!"
  929. >She barely is able to combat roll out of the way as bird boy delivers a drop kick.
  930. >It cracks the floor, making you thankful such a powerful attack didn't connect.
  931. >"Leave it to old Horace to pick up Albus's slack."
  932. >This guy looked a bit out of shape, but you know better to underestimate him.
  933. >Nadia's body attacks him, but he is able to expertly fend her off.
  934. >Then you see it, his glasses!
  935. >Grabbing her head, she looks up a you.
  936. >"What do you think you're do-"
  937. >You chuck her squarely at his face.
  938. >"AAAAAAHHHHH!"
  939. >A direct hit! His fez and glasses crash onto the floor, with the latter shattered into pieces.
  940. >He his noticeably at a disadvantage and Fortune is able to clobber him.
  941. >You even run up and get a couple of good hit yourself.
  942. >Nadia detaches her tail, swinging it in the air.
  943. >"FOOOOORE!"
  944. >Hitting Horace like a golf ball, he flies into the air, smashing into a pillar and then splashing into the water in the bath.
  945. >The two of you wait for a moment to see if he resurfaces, but there was no movement.
  946. >You both turn you attention to the main fight.
  947. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  948.
  949. >------A few minutes earlier-----
  950. >With the feral and Anon taking on the Albus and Horace you might have a chance now.
  951. >It also helps that Cerebella is backing you up.
  952. >Still, you're quite drained from the first fight.
  953. >Eliza's staff nearly coming down on your head snapped you out of your thoughts.
  954. >Remember what Madame Dahlia said! Always keep your main focus on the target!
  955. >You lob a few knives at her but she simply blocks them.
  956. >Bella tries to get her while she's distracted, but she quickly shifts her attention.
  957. >It's like she's got eyes on the back of her head!
  958. >Well, considering she has a parasite you wouldn't be surprised if she did have eyes on the back of her head.
  959. >You leap at her, your the knifes in your shoes popping out.
  960. >Again she just blocks it and you land harmlessly next to her.
  961. >You quickly use your cloak to teleport away before she stabs you with her morphed arm.
  962. >Just how in Trinity's name are you suppose to hit her? Let alone stop her!
  963. >Then her skeleton lunges out of her with an axe, coming right at you.
  964. >You leap out of the way.
  965. >It's clear she's aiming for the weaker one.
  966. >But Bella is able to grab the murder lusted parasite and slam it to the ground.
  967. >She get a some good hits in before it runs back into the blood sarcophagi, reforming into Eliza.
  968. >You dig into you cloak, trying to find something.
  969. >You grab something toss it without thinking, hoping to stun Eliza.
  970. >A rubber chicken smacks her in the eyes and she lets out an "Ouch!"
  971. >This gives Cerebella time to bodyslam her.
  972. >She grabs her with Vice-Versa and lays into her.
  973. >Eliza's eyes pop out like she's a cartoon character, but she rapidly breaks away from Vice-Versa's grip.
  974. >She delivers an uppercut on her, sending her airborne.
  975. >"Nice try!"
  976. >She again goes after you with the skeleton.
  977. >Now you're on the defensive.
  978. >Damn! How can you stop her?
  979. >Then you realize it! The Skeleton! Eliza just morphs into the sarcophagus when its out.
  980. >If you could separate the skeleton and her, you might be able to stop her!
  981. >Bella runs back in and gets her off you.
  982. >You just need to hold out for an opportunity.
  983. >A sound from behind gets your attention.
  984. >Anon and that feral run to you, giving you confidence for the first time.
  985. >Maybe you got a shot.
  986. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  987.
  988. >Running to Beatrix, you and Nadia join the fight.
  989. >Eliza seems to be on the defensive, blocking all attacks.
  990. >Now that Fortune is involved, Bea can rest for minute.
  991. >Bea grabs your arm and whispers in you ear.
  992. >"The skeleton! The answer is the skeleton!"
  993. >You give her a confuse look.
  994. >"When it lunges out, she's totally defenseless!"
  995. >She fumbles in her cloak, and pulls out a syringe.
  996. >"Madam Dahlia has been teaching me about toxins, and this syringe is filled with a neurotoxin."
  997. >When the skeleton lunges out-you need to run in and hit her with it!
  998. "Why trust me with such a dangerous task!?"
  999. >She slips it too you when it looks like Eliza is distracted.
1000. >"Because you're the least threatening person here. We'll distract the skeleton!"
1001. >Armed with a plan, you hang at the sidelines of the fight, waiting for the skeleton to lunge out.
1002. >You knew you had to be quick, but you don't know if she could see when she transforms into a sarcophagus.
  1003. >You hope she doesn't suspect anything.
1004. >Then she lunges out at Beatrix, almost splitting her head with the axe.
1005. >Seeing her morph, you make a mad dash to her.
1006. >You see Bella and Nadia both distracting the parasite.
1007. >Just as you pull the syringe out, the parasite runs at you.
1008. >Bella punches it out of the air, while Nadia rolls it into a ball of yarn.
1009. >You got one chance, you jab the needle into her, injecting the toxin into her bloodstream.
1010. >Without the parasite to cleanse her bloodstream, she quickly morphs into Eliza.
1011. >"Y-You little creep, what did you do to me!?"
1012. >She tries in vain to turn her limbs into weapons, but they don't respond.
1013. >She lets out a genuine horrified scream.
  1014. >"You don't know what you just did! I-"
1015. >Her mouth stops moving, and she fall stiff on the ground.
1016. >With her connection severed, the parasite's power noticeably decreases.
1017. >Bella is able to restrain him, and Beatrix pulls out some chains from her cloak.
1018. >"You fools! You think you can chain the Crimson Scourge!"
1019. >Bea laughs as she wraps the skeleton up.
  1020. >"I just did! You'll make a great prop wouldn't she Bella?"
1021. >This causes the monster to growl and struggle, to no avail.
1022. >Everyone laughs at the chained beast, but then Cerebella points at Nadia.
1023. >"Now for the Life Gem."
1024. >Both women seem ready to fight, but you and Bea get in between them.
1025. >"Come on! Haven't we've been through enough!? Save it for another time!"
1026. "Yeah! I think Nadia has earned a free pass, Bella!"
1027. >Bella stomps on the ground.
  1028. >"But I-she-ugh! Just get outta here!"
1029. >Nadia gives you a wave goodbye and runs out of the building.
1030. >You all stand in silence, save for the skeleton trying to get out of the chains.
  1031. "Now what?"
1032. >Bea grabs the frozen Eliza while Bella takes the chained parasite.
1033. >"I think we need to pay a visit to Vitale and Lorenzo...."
  1034.
  1035. --------Chapter X--------
  1036.
  1037. >You've never driven a limo before.
1038. >In fact, you've never really driven at all before.
1039. >You either took the M.A.R.T. or just walked.
1040. >But your two consciousness occupants didn't seem to mind the erratic driving.
1041. >It's not like there was anyone on the street either.
1042. >The drive was short and silent, everyone was recovering from the fight.
1043. >Pulling up to Medici Tower and barely missing the sidewalk, you parked the car.
1044. >You used a button to roll down the window separating the driver section with the passenger section.
  1045. "You all set?"
1046. >Bea and Bella nod, with the latter adding.
  1047. >"Hopefully they aren't in a meeting."
1048. >You exit the vehicle and open the passenger door, looking around to make sure no one sees you.
1049. >Bea steps out and checks around two before unlocking the frozen Eliza and dragging her out.
1050. >Cerebella gets out and goes to the trunk.
1051. >Before she opens it, she looks to the two of you.
1052. >"Maybe you should go in and tell them we're here."
1053. >You nod and head inside.
1054. >Medici Tower's lobby is very spacious and filled with expensive furniture and art.
1055. >At the center, is a reception desk; with, naturally, a receptionist manning it.
1056. >Leaning on the desk was none other than Ottomo, resident butler/drunk.
1057. >He typically hangs out with Vitale, so you wondered what he was doing here.
1058. >Getting closer, you hear the conversation.
1059. >"Come on baby, I know some good clubs around here; and I can get you in for free."
1060. >Classic Tom, as smooth as sandpaper.
1061. >Though you did sympathize with him a bit, he was a small salamander man so getting dates is probably a challenge.
1062. >Before the receptionist could respond, she notices you.
  1063. >"May I help you sir?"
1064. >As you're thinking about how to tell her you've drugged and kidnapped a famous singer who was also an ancient murder, Tom intervenes.
1065. >"HEEEY Anon! What are you doing here? Do you want to see the boss, cause he's busy right now."
1066. >Damn it! You need to see Vitale or Lorenzo, Preferably both!
1067. "I've got urgent business, like something that could have major repercussions if not dealt with!"
1068. >They didn't seem to take you seriously, until the door flies open.
1069. >Beatrix drags Eliza's stiff body into the lobby, looking around for a place to put her.
1070. >Just as they both were going to say something; Cerebella comes in, carrying the struggling skeleton.
1071. >Without saying a word, the receptionist grabs the phone and speed dials a number.
  1072.
1073. >As you were in the elevator climbing to Lorenzo's office, you wonder they will take the news.
1074. >Will they be upset that Bea didn't get the Skullheart?
1075. >Will Bella tattle tail that she was close to getting the Life Gem but was denied?
1076. >You fought off such thoughts.
1077. >You all have just escaped hell by a inch.
1078. >Ottomo seemed surprised when you all recanted the tale to him.
1079. >Of course Bella used Eliza as a prop, doing a horrible impression of her voice.
1080. >It lighten the mood a bit, despite how if this was any other person it would be borderline psychotic.
1081. >Or perhaps you crossed that border long ago.
1082. >The parasite gave up struggling finally and Ottomo was carrying her over his shoulder.
1083. >You still are a bit afraid to go near that monster, but it seems to be getting weaker by the moment.
1084. >You've heard that parasite are suppose to die if they are severed from their hosts, but this one seems different.
1085. >The ding of the elevator stops you from thinking and your friends from chatting.
1086. >The doors part and there behind his desk is Lorenzo Medici.
1087. >Vitale and Black Dahlia are both on either side of him.
1088. >The two men have a neutral expression on their faces; and surprisingly it's Dahlia who speaks up first.
1089. >"I'd never thought I'd see Eliza being dragged in like a corpse by my two best pupils!"
  1090. >She claps.
  1091. >"Well done girls!"
1092. >You're just shocked that Black Dahlia is actually congratulating someone.
  1093. >Beatrix is just bashful.
1094. >"I can't take all the credit Madam Dahlia, it was your training that saved my life after all!"
1095. >You never got why Bea looks up to her so much.
1096. >Before more words can be said, Lorenzo launches into a tirade.
1097. >"You see what I told you!? I said I'll rip out your skeleton if you failed! Now look at you!"
  1098. >He pounds his desk.
1099. >"Can she even hear me!? She better be able too!"
1100. >He starts coughing and takes a swig of his whiskey, Vitale takes center stage.
1101. >"Now I didn't get the full story on the phone, but seeing as you have a parasite in chains; I want an explanation."
1102. >Cerebella immediately does her rehearsed reenactment of events with Eliza and Bea.
1103. >You even stepped in to play your parts with Ottomo being Albus and Horace.
1104. >You all 'conveniently' left out Nadia of course.
1105. >But when you're done the entire room is silent.
1106. >Then Lorenzo starts clapping, followed by Dahlia then Vitale.
1107. >Both men have large smiles on their faces.
  1108. >Lorenzo chuckles.
1109. >"That was a brilliant performance; I need to visit the circus when I get better."
1110. >He sighs and waves of his hand.
1111. >"But now for the business, Dahlia, if you would get your girls to take Miss Eliza to her new quarters."
1112. >Dahlia steps out for a few moments; then her bunny suit clad soldiers enter, seizing Eliza by her arms and take her away.
1113. >"Ottomo, call Eliza's agent; tell him she'll be working for us for now on."
1114. >With a salute Ottomo leaves the office.
1115. >He places his hands on the desk in a thinking position, resting his face in them.
  1116. >"Now for the parasite."
  1117. >You step in.
1118. "I believe this thing feeds on blood, sir."
1119. >He looks at you before returning his gaze to the skeleton.
1120. >"And here I thought she had some sick fetish. Most intriguing, is there anything else you can tell me about it?"
  1121. >You clear your throat.
1122. "Well sir, it seems to be able to think; It mentioned about the 'Crimson Scourge' or something when we captured it."
1123. >He mutters to him self.
1124. >"There is only one other parasite I know of that could think...."
  1125. >Beatrix speaks up.
1126. >"This seemed to influence the thing!"
1127. >She fumbles with her cloak and pulls out Eliza's staff!
1128. >How the fuck did she hide that in there!? And how did you not see her swipe it!?
1129. >She hands it to Vitale, who waves it in front of the Skeleton's face.
1130. >It does nothing, and he shakes his head.
1131. >"This requires more research, but if we could control a parasite...."
  1132. >Lorenzo interrupts.
1133. >"Have it kept in chains and NEVER give it blood! We'll discuss more about this later!"
1134. >Vitale sticks his head out the door, and some more henchmen enter, taking the parasite away.
1135. >He sits back down, playing with the staff.
1136. >"I'd say you all did a good job, despite not actually accomplishing your mission."
1137. >"You've given us the perfect tool to combat the Skullgirl, and find the Life Gem."
1138. >You worry for Nadia, but you know she'll be fine; you doubt the Medici's could control that thing.
1139. >Lorenzo stands behind his desk.
1140. >"You all may leave now; that's enough excitement for the night."
  1141.
1142. >Entering the Circus grounds, you and Beatrix say goodnight to Cerebella who gives you both a big bear hug.
1143. >"I'm so happy to have you all as friends."
1144. >She enters her wagon and shuts the door.
1145. >There is a few minutes of silence as you and Bea stand there.
  1146. >"Boy, what a night!"
1147. >Bea opens the wagon you both stay in.
1148. >She nearly collapses on the bed.
1149. >It takes all your will power not to follow her.
1150. >You lie down next to her but you're sitting up.
1151. >You can't really think of words to say now, you nearly lost the one you loved.
  1152. "Bea."
1153. >She looks up at you, she's so cute.
1154. "Today was close. Too close."
1155. >She sits next to you.
1156. >"I know, next time thing will be different."
  1157. >You sigh.
1158. "But Beatrix, today I was just one second away from...."
  1159. >You didn't want to finish that.
1160. >"I know, I'm not invincible, but you can't be there for me all the time; especially when it's dangerous!"
1161. >You know that if it wasn't for Nadia you wouldn't have stood much of a chance.
1162. >But if you're going to live with her and survive this life you've been thrust into, you'll need to learn to fight.
1163. >Perhaps you could join her when Black Dahlia shows up to give lessons?
1164. "I need to get stronger so that next time, I'll be there for you."
1165. >"Are you sure you want to make such a commitment?"
  1166. "I've already made it this far, haven't I?"
  1167. >She gives you a smile.
1168. >"You've done so much for me."
  1169. >You pull her close.
1170. "And I'll keep it up! I'm not letting you carry all the weight on your shoulders!"
  1171. >You both kiss.
1172. >"Speaking of taking weights off shoulders...."
1173. >She takes off her outfit, carefully hanging it up on the clothes rack.
1174. >You take off your clothes too, but you just threw them in the laundry basket.
1175. >She falls on you, causing you to land onto the bed.
1176. >Smiling down at you, she turns around, presenting herself.
1177. >You feel her warm breath on your cock, arousing it from slumber.
1178. >She gives it a few small licks.
1179. >Before taking the newly hardened shaft in her mouth.
1180. >You know you can't have all the fun, and you dig into her pussy.
1181. >Her taste is nice and sweet, and there is no shortage of wetness to lap up.
1182. >She picks up her pace, and you can see her head bopping up and down.
1183. >As if you needed any conformation than the feeling of her deepthroating you.
1184. >You waggle your tongue in her, occasionally running over her clitoris.
1185. >You feel her pulse and shake along with hearing her gasps and moans.
1186. >Then she spazes about and orgasms.
1187. >It's pretty messy, and afterwards she lets go of your cock.
1188. >Turning around, she lets out cute giggles at the sight.
  1189. >You can't help but laugh too.
1190. >You sit up and grab her.
1191. >"Whoa Anon! I didn't know you had such strength!"
1192. >Her surprised was doubled when you impaled her onto your spear.
1193. >It wasn't such a tight fit with it being well lubricated.
1194. >She moans in pleasure and you swear her eyes rolled back.
1195. >Pinning her against the wall, you thrust into her without abandon.
1196. >Her arms and legs wrap around you.
1197. >You kiss her neck, and make her squirm.
1198. >You're afraid you might make the wagon tip over with how rough you two were going at it.
1199. >Whoever passes by would surely notice it rocking.
1200. >Still, you weren't going to pull out.
1201. >Not when you're enjoying it so much, and judging by her expression she's the same.
1202. >Finally the familiar pressure builds in your loins.
1203. >With a mighty wagon shaking thrust, you explode in her.
1204. >Bea lets out a silent scream, the pleasure too much for her.
1205. >You fall back onto the bed, and she gyrates her hips; hoping to get every last drop out of you.
1206. >The two of you kiss again, and look into each other's eyes.
  1207. "That was glorious!"
1208. >Before she could respond, you heard knocking on the door.
  1209. >You hear Cerebella's voice.
1210. >"Bea, Anon! Are you guys alright!? I think we had an earthquake!"
1211. >You both look at each other and laugh.
1212. >"Come on, let's go tell her we're fine; then we can hit the showers."
1213. >You follow after your girlfriend with a smile on your face.
  1214. >You loved circuses now!
  1215.
  1216.
  1217. --------~~~Special New Year's Chapter!~~~--------
  1218.
1219. >The audience let out a thunderous round of applause as Cerebella and Beatrix bowed once again.
1220. >It was another triumphant night for the Cirques des Cartes superstar duo.
1221. >It had to be; it was the Grand New Year's Extravaganza, one of the biggest shows in the year.
1222. >And you, Anon, the mastermind behind tonight's performance, couldn't help but smile as your good friend and the love of your life soaked up the praise.
1223. >As you clapped, a second pair of hands joins yours.
1224. >"Another flawless performance, as usual."
1225. >Taking a place next to you was Feng; who seemed just as impressed by the two as you are.
1226. >She was a little apprehensive when Bea tried to make amends with Cerebella.
1227. >But she did away with those fears when Bea's actions were proven genuine.
1228. >You don't really blame her for her skepticism; given the history between those two women.
1229. >Feng pats you on the back.
1230. >"And another successful show, thanks to you."
1231. "Aww, it's really all you guys who do all the work..."
1232. >She giggles and looks back at the emptying stands and dark arena.
1233. >"You ready for the party?"
1234. >Oh shit! You almost forgot about the New Year's party!
1235. "Yeah! It'll be nice to unwind for a bit."
1236. >Even though Christmas was only a few days ago, everyone gets put under a lot of pressure for the New Year's show; so already you feel like you need a break.
1237. >Sure the Medici pay well and give you all good benefits, but they do expect results.
1238. >The two of you leave the staff area and head to the circus entrance, where the last of the crowd was dispersing.
1239. >No one will be signing millions of signatures tonight, mainly because the tickets to this show cost a small fortune.
1240. >You're honestly surprised this many people actually could afford to show up.
1241. >Waving off the last of the fans, Bella and Bea both wipe the sweat from their brows and smile at seeing you two.
1242. >You pull Bea in for a kiss as Bella whistles.
1243. >"Whoa, save the fireworks for tonight you two!"
1244. >Her and Feng laugh as you and Bea awkwardly separate.
1245. >Hubrecht enters the big top, in his arms is enough fireworks to look like a shady arms dealer.
  1246. >"Somebody mentioned fireworks?"
1247. >Beatrix is stunned by the amount of ordinance.
1248. >"How the hell did you get so many fireworks, and how are we going to fire them if it's illegal!?"
1249. >He lets out a hearty chuckle and shakes his head.
1250. >"Beatrix, don't you know who our employers are? There's benefits in working for them!"
1251. >With that he heads off to wherever they're going to launch them.
1252. >Beatrix turns to Cerebella and grabs her hand.
1253. >"Guess we better get ready for the party."
1254. >Both of them run off leaving you with Feng.
  1255. "Well, I guess it's just-"
1256. >Feng is no where to be found.
1257. >Huh, well you guess you might as well prepare for the party.
1258. >Is it formal or not again?
1259. >Also, you forgot what time it's suppose to start.
  1260. >Fuuuuuuck.
  1261.
1262. >Well, you think you look good.
1263. >Staring into the mirror; you've shaved, put on something a bit fancy but nothing overtly formal, and a little splash of cologne.
1264. >Stepping out of the men's staff bathrooms, you head to the arena.
1265. >Even if you're early it doesn't matter, you can always help set things up.
1266. >Entering the ring you see it's full of tables upon tables of snacks.
1267. >And plenty of alcohol to go around; you're sure one drop of some of these things would cause Bea to faint!
1268. >"There you are! Here I was thinking I'd have to start looking for you."
  1269. >Speak of the devil, there's Beatrix!
1270. >Now you also notice everyone's here too!
1271. >Why did you focus on the food first? You wonder...
1272. >It's not long before everyone is intermingling and making small talk.
1273. >You for one get congratulations for tonight's performance, which you again humbly refuse and say the real object of congratulating is standing right next to you.
1274. >Everyone is also filled with nervous anticipation and excitement about the coming year.
1275. >Oh yeah, the reason you all are having this bash.
1276. >To be honest though; it is a noteworthy event.
1277. >You've only been involved with the circus less than a year ago; when you by chance won that free ticket.
1278. >Last year you'd be crazy to think you'd be working in a circus with you magician girlfriend.
1279. >You wonder what opportunities this new year will be giving you?
1280. >Beatrix tugs on you sleeve and points to the table with all the liquor.
1281. >"Hey, look! Hertz and Spades are doing a drinking competition!"
1282. >You two join everyone as they crowd around the two burly men, downing glass after glass of poison.
1283. >Gah, you hope that they aren't in charge of lighting the fireworks...
1284. >Eventually good ol' Hubrecht out paces Spades, who stumbles away silently.
1285. >But you all know him long enough to recognize that he's forfeited the match.
1286. >While everyone applauded his ability to handle that much alcohol, (And express sympathy for his liver.)
1287. >Bea looks at you and rolls her eyes.
1288. >"Pfft! I could totally out drink him!"
1289. >While you might've have called her bluff, you also wanted to spend this new year's with her not blacked out drunk.
1290. >You chuckle and shake your head at her outrageous boast, which only causes her to silently pout.
1291. >Swooping in for a quick kiss turns her redder then the fireworks probably are!
1292. >Yet times flies when you're having fun, and just as things seem to be winding down, suddenly Regina calls everyone over.
1293. >"It's almost time for the new year, everyone; that means we can light these bad boys up!"
1294. >She smiles as she hands Bea and Bella each a match.
1295. >"Since we've got two superstars now, I only find it fair that we have two sets of fireworks."
1296. >Heading outside; there's a mass of what you assume are the fireworks, neatly separated into two piles.
1297. >A long fuse leads from them to a relatively safe distance away.
1298. >Glancing at your watch, you see that there's less than five minutes left in this year...
1299. >"Alright girls, you should light them about now."
1300. >Both of them strike their matches and ignite the fuse.
1301. >The slow fizzing of the spark builds up anticipation of the coming new year.
1302. >As it moves away from everyone, so does the year.
1303. >Whoa, that's a bit deep now that you think about it....
1304. >You don't recall drinking much during the party either.
1305. >You look at your watch again, this time less than thirty seconds.
1306. >Timing yourself, you start a count down.
  1307. "Fifteen...Fourteen...Thirteen..."
  1308. >Soon others join you.
  1309. >"Twelve...Eleven...Ten..."
1310. >Now everyone is chanting in unison.
  1311. >"Nine...Eight...Seven...Six...Five...Four..."
1312. >Eyes off your watch, you can see the fuses reaching their respective goals.
  1313. >"Three...Two...One..."
1314. >With a thunderous boom, the fireworks go off, igniting the sky with a multitudes of colors and effects!
1315. >Everyone throws their hands into the air!
  1316. >"HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
1317. >Everyone takes a seat and ohhs and ahhs at the seemingly endless barrage.
1318. >You suddenly find yourself pulled into a hug by Beatrix.
1319. >Wrapping your arms around her, you both stare up into the night sky too.
